"That was scary," Solstice said, holding onto her brother's arm for support. Even though they were a good ways away from the ride that they'd previously rode, Sol was still feeling dizzy. The ride had tossed her, flipped her, and done lood-de-loops. Her stomach had done everything that the ride did. She still felt like she was going to barf, but she had nothing in her stomach to expell, given that she hadn't eaten all day, as her brother had advised her to. She'd been having so much fun that she didn't even notice the painful rumbling coming from her abdomen.
Greyson laughed and patted his sister on the back. "Scary? That was fun, not scary." He smiled, adrenaline still rushing through his veins. Greyson had been coming to this carnival for a long time; way longer than his sister had. "Hey. What's that?" He pointed to a nearby attraction.
Solstice was surprised that there were any attractions in this area. It was a less used area of the carnival, and the rides were getting much farther apart. She followed the direction of Greysons finger, her eyes resting on the hauntingly beautiful carousel. "Grey. We have to ride it," she said, tugging on his arm.
"Aren't we a little.... old to be riding that?" Greyson was skeptical. He knew that his little sister could be childish at times, given that she was the baby of the family, and that his parents had spoiled his sibling rotten. "I thought you said you were going to start acting older, Sol." He peered down at his sister.
"Just this once, brother, please. It's been so long since I've ridden on a carousel. We can relive our childhood memories! Remember when we were riding on that carousel and..." Solstice began her long, detailed story from one of their trips to a carnival similar to this one.
Greyson listened intently, though he'd heard her tell the tale a million times before. "Yes, I remember," he said when she finished. "Fine. I guess we'll ride it."
Solstice jumped with joy. "Yay!" She nearly skipped to the area where they were going to let people on. No other people seemed to be around, and the ticket man seemed to be nowhere near. Maybe he had taken a break... Solstice sure hoped he would be back soon. She already had her eyes on a bear-sized tiger that she wanted to ride.

"This one, Zakerunii-chan! This one next!" one of the brown haired little trolls said as they dragged their older brother near half-way across the place. Off towards the next ride they wanted to do with. With him of course. A sigh escaped him as a smirk curved his lips.
"Alrigt, alright, just hold your horses," Zakeru replied. But it only caused them to squeal with boyish laughter and pull him along a little harder. The older male turned towards his mother and pleaded for her to save him. After a few moments, she did take mercy on him and herded his kid brothers off towards the ride they wanted.
Zakeru rubbed his forearms and shook his head, orange eyes closing briefly before shaking his head. Kids will be kids. Then, out of the corners of his eyes, he spotted an older carousel with two people around his age moving towards it.
In the back of his mind, it reminded him of the carousels he rode when he was a kid... Before his father left him and his mother. Without making too big of a fuss about it, Zakeru walked over as well. Orange eyes resting on a snarling dragon.
~xXx~
Isedon walked aimlessly through the crowds, blocking their noise with heavy metal and grunge bands. Her hands shoved in the pockets of her pants, boots scuffing on the ground as she stopped. Somewhere in this place, the rest of her dysfunctional family was dishing out something they probably all deserved.
Best thing she did was to get the hell out of there as fast as she could and drowned out her problems in music. Flipping russet bangs out of her eyes, she glanced around and spotted one side of an old carousel. Her eyes taking in a huge direwolf on one side. A smirk curved her lips.
"Just once, Ise," she told herself under the beat of the music as she made her way towards it.

After a moment of standing in line, Greyson spotted the owner of the ride coming out. He was a short, old, frail, grey-haired shell of a man. He seemed to radiate wisdom and thought. For some reason, he reminded Greyson of his great grandfather. He smiled at the man, whose eyes drifted somewhere behind him.
Solstice watched the direction of the old man's eyes, and she turned to find what he was looking at. She noticed that another boy and another girl had joined them in the line. She took note of their appearances, and looked back to the old man.
"Last four rides of the day. You guys get it for free, okay. Just don't get any of the animals dirty," the old man said, pulling back the chain that led towards the carousel. He held a generous twinkle in his eye, and he smiled as Solstice and Greyson passed him.
Though Sol had originally had her eyes set on the large tiger, her mind was easily changed when she spotted a black pegasus in mid-flight. She made a bee-line towards the old, slightly-worn animal. This carousel looked ancient, but that's what intrigued Solstice the most. She mounted the mighty beast, and was surprised. The fake animal was warm. "Must be from sitting out in the sun for most of the day..."
Greyson had made almost a full circle around the carousel when he spotted the griffon. He'd heard magnificent stories about those majestic creatures. It's pose was staring straight ahead, with all four of its feet on the ground, and its wings halfway unfurled. He felt a bit childish about it, but he climbed onto the animal's back, and also noticed how unnaturally warm it was. He thought nothing unusual of it, and prepared for the ride to start.

Free ride? Sounded good to him. Zakeru inclined his head to the old man and stepped into the carousel. Immediately, he walked over to the dragon he spotted earlier. It's black scales were worn and felt a little real underneath his fingers. "Maybr it was from staying out too long in the sun," he murmured softly in Japanese. Wih a slight shrug, he vaulted himself up in the cavity in between the flying lizard's half-unfurled wings.
Isedon stepped into the ride after the boy with the orange eyes and looked around before heading towards the giant direwolf. Her gloveless fingers running over the sculpted umber and russet fur that was still rather warm under her skin. Cocking her head, she wondered the reason in her head before vaulting up as well. Head bobbing in time with her own tunes.

Solstice couldn't see the old man anymore, and she didn't think anything suspicious about it. The carousel's lights began to flash in time with the tinkling, music box tune that played from somewhere above their heads. She felt the animal beneath her jar, and then begin to move.
Greyson experienced the same things as Solstice, so he turned around to face his sister. She grinned anxiously back at him, and the animals began to orbit around the center piece of the carousel. The animals almost seemed to come alive, and Solstice felt the animal beneath her become even more warm.
Solstice looked down at her pegasus, and she swore that its eyes, which were a dark shade of blue, were glowing. It nearly scared her to death, but she tried to convince herself that she'd just been shaken up too much by the topsy-turvy rides that she rode all day long. She found herself sitting still on the horse, not sure what to do about all of this.
Everything just seemed too strange to her, and she was sure that Greyson was experiencing it all, too.
Greyson's mind was spinning, and he could vividly remember riding carousels when he was younger with his sister. His griffon had become warm, and he could feel the feathers almost soften beneath his touch... He almost swore that he felt some sort of energy coming from the beast. Stupid amusement parks. Making him feel like a drunk.

Isedon felt the jarring beginning that signaled the start of the ride. She tightened the grip her legs had on he wolf and cocked her head to ions side. Something had changed within the wolf. It felt a little warmer beneath her. And she felt her fingers running through coarse, sense fur to feel corded muscles beneath.
It all felt very odd and her sense of reality was starting to go haywire.
This was a ride, correct? Not some misplaced freak show? Pulling out one of her earbuds, the music of Slipknot could be heard under the typical carousel music. Yep. Definitely a ride, it kept going around in a circle. Nope. Not some random freak show.
With a faint sigh, Isedon ran her fingers through the umber and russet fur.
~xXx~
Zakeru was pretty much experiencing the same things everybody else did. Except he also got a strange sense of vertigo. He groaned slightly and rubbed his temples to remind himself he wasn't even on a cig at the moment. His mom had forbade it since he would be with his kid twin brothers.
But he could have sworn the dragon's scales had dramatically increase in temperature. It felt like he as sitting on one of those outside metal benches that as left out under the summer sun. Running one hand through his gray and black hair, Zakeru could have sworn he saw red eyes aglow from the corners of his own orange orbs.

After a few more rounds of spinning around on the pegasus, Solstice was surprised when the ride stopped. She got off of her pegasus, and ran her hand through her hair, only to find that something snagged some of the strands. She wondered what could have done it, so when she removed her hand, she looked for the cause of what could have hooked her hair.
Around her right ring finger was a ring that she didn't remember wearing. Its band was black, but made of some sort of metal that felt like silver on her hand. The patterns in it looked almost like victorian era fencing, and, in the very center of the band, sat a blue stone. She also noticed that the ring was hot.
Greyson, having gotten off of the ride shortly after Sol, walked over to his younger sibling, and opened his eyes a bit wider, still feeling as if he was going in a circular motion on the griffon. "I felt like I was on one big acid trip on that thing. Did you?"
"Yeah. I'm just tired, I guess." Solstice's stomach growled at her. "And maybe a tiny bit hungry, you know, since I haven't eaten all day, given that you wouldn't let me." She raised a brow at her older brother.
Greyson laughed at Sol and peered around for the old man. The old coot was nowhere to be seen. He's probably just packing his things up, Greyson thought. After all, the carnival would be leaving town tomorrow. He cracked his neck, and sighed.
The two began to walk to their home, but Solstice was even more freaked out than before. She'd seen that Greyson had a ring on his finger, too; it was on the same finger as hers. Though his looked different than hers, she could tell that they shared some similarities, such as having one stone. Her brother never wore rings.
She decided it was best not to tell him, lest he think that she was crazy or something, but deep down, Solstice could tell that something wasn't quite right. It gave her the chills.

As soon as the ride started, it ended. Zakeru sighed with disappointment and hopped off the dragon before getting off the ride all together. Immediately one of the brown haired trolls came bounding up. The boy's clear green eyes shown brightly with some emotion the older male couldn't name.
"Zakerunii-chan! Mom says we have to go home now. You have to go work tomorrow with dad at the shop," the little troll said, a strand of his darker brown hair falling in his eyes.
Zakeru smiled softly and ruffled the little troll's hair. "Alright, Zackari," the orange-eyed boy said as he followed his kid brother. The boy's twin must've been already in the car. Moving to run his hand through his gray and black hair, he froze. On his middle finger was a painted black sterling silver ring in that shape of Ouroboros; the serpent eating its own tail.
Except it had wings sprouting from it's shoulders and following its body all the way around the ring. It's single eye was inlaid with a blooded ruby.
He scowled. How did he get this? With a faint shrug, he slid into the front passenger seat of the car. His mother gave him a strange look before starting the vehicle and driving home.
~xXx~
Isedon sighed and slipped off the direwolf before exiting the ride as well. Well, let the "home" life begin again. Slipping her hands into her cameo pants, she stalked off in the direction of home; knowing there would be hell when she returned. Instead of facing it when she got home, she slipped it throuch the window of her room and flashed the light of her iPhone. It was reflected in the shiny silver surface of a ring on her right middle finger.
It was in the shape of a snarling wolf, but it didn't raise from her finger or the surface of the ring. The eyes were amber and caught the light, making them look real.
Isedon blinked and cocked her head. How?

Solstice and Greyson went home as always, and Sol still had't mentioned the whole ring epidemic. She had noticed that when she looked at her ring closer, there were engravings of what seemed to be small pegasuses running and flying all around the band.
When she got into her room and tried to pull the ring off, she was surprised when it wouldn't come off. It wasn't like it was caught at her knuckles or anything, but it simply wouldn't budge at all. It wouldn't even slide around her finger in a circle. It was almost as if it was melded into her skin. That freaked Sol out.
When Greyson heard her struggles, he came in and found his sister trying to hide a pair of pliers behind her back. Greyson, however, couldn't see the pliers, so he didn't pester her about what she was doing. When he first came into the room, her head was down, but when she looked up, he saw that her eyes were a dark blue- nearly black.
That frightened Greyson, because not once had his sister's eyes ever been blue, and she didn't wear contacts. Sure, Solstice's eyes seemed to change colors now and then, but they always stayed in the range of green or grey-green. Never, ever blue.
It frightened Greyson so much that he simply walked back out of Solstice's room, stiff as a board, and sat on the couch in a daze. Then he noticed his own ring; the band was a dazzling gold color, and in the very center was a beautiful winged creature. He rubbed his eyes. It was a griffon.
He didn't try to pry it off. He looked at the griffon, and he saw that its eyes were made out of two small light green stones. They were almost the color of his sister's eyes.

It was morning and Zakeru shifted to slam the snooze button on his alarm clock. He didn't bother checking the time since he rolled over and quickly fell back asleep with his sheets twisted around his legs and head under one of his two pillows. A faint snore tore from his chest seconds before the two little trolls bounded into his room and almost cannon-balled onto his bed.
"Nii-chan! You have to get up now and go to work!" they both said at the exact same time and in the exact same pitch. Zakeru felt two sets of five-year-old hands shaking his body. He shifted slightly, wrapped his arms around his kid brothers and rolled so he squished both between his chest and his mattress.
"Nii-chan!" the two giggled as they attempted to wriggle free.
Zakeru smiled in his sleep before he released the trolls. He cracked open one orange eye and gazed down at them as he rolled to release them. "Five more minutes. Tops," he murmured in Japanese. The two nodded and quickly bounded off to who-knows-what, leaving Zakeru five precious moments to get some more sleep in.

Isedon sighed as she walked into the local park. Her russet eyes downcast and glued to the ground. The earbuds in her ears played music on a level that could cause deafness. But she didn't care. She just wanted to get away from her stupid, abusive family since she was now sporting a bruise on her right cheek.
Slipping her hands into her camouflage pants, she sat down on one of the empty benches just as the song chanced from Now or Never by Three Days Grace to The Red by Chevelle. Her lips moved as she mouthed the beginning lyrics.
"They say freak,
When you're singled out,
The red, well it filters through."
With another sigh, she removed one hand from her pants and gingerly rubbed at the bruise with the pads of her fingers. She barely even noticed the ring on her finger anymore. The strange snarling wolf was not in the forefront of her mind at the moment. Closing her russet eyes, she leaned back and let the music take her.

Greyson's dog pulled him nearly half-way across the park, and he was barking orders at the beast to "Slow the hell down!" or "Stop moving, Rana!" His dog, Rana, payed those orders no mind; she only had one thing on its mind, which was finding the source of the wolfy smell that had entered her nose.
The dog stopped at the bench, where a girl sat, eyes closed, and let out a deafening, deep woof. The huge black belgian malinois stood its ground, a bit startled that the source of the wolfish smell wasn't a wolf, but a human instead.
Greyson was breathing heavily, and he yanked on Rana's leash lightly, a bit scared to startle the dog from its snarling state. "Rana, no, girl." He kept his voice calm, but it held just a tinge of panic.
~~~~~~~~~~
Solstice's green eyes searched the surface of her ring as she sat in the coffee shop. She'd been researching about mysterious objects that showed up on your body, but she'd found nothing of use on the subject in the small shop.
She closed her laptop frustratedly and let out an angry sigh. She ran a hand through her red-ish hair and bit her bottom lip. Maybe this was all in her head. After all, she'd been called psycho by several people at her old school.
No. Surely not. She touched the ring's gem. Sure enough, it was real. She let her head rest on the table, and had to refrain from slamming her fist against the fragile glass table. This was all too confusing for her liking.
She looked up to see a man in black that seemed to have dark pits for eyes. She had to refrain from staring, given that she'd been scolded as a child for staring quite often. She tried to ignore the man, who wasn't keen on ignoring Sol. His eyes never left hers.
Ooc:// And so the first black-garbed man shows up.
Isedon glanced down at the giant dog when she heard its woof just over her music. Her russet eyes staring inquisitively at the beast and she cocked her head. Just enough so her hair hid the bruise and so she could take one earbud out as Slipknot screamed through the small speakers.
"Can I help you, poochie?" she asked the dog even as it snarled at her. And she had half a mind to snarl back, show she wasn't afraid. But she wasn't a dog and she was pretty sure it's human friend wouldn't be to happy to see a fellow homo sapien snarling at his beloved dog.
Until she looked up at him of course. Her russet eyes narrowed into slits. She remembered him from last night. On the carousel. Isedon stood slowly, as to not frighten the dog into attacking her.
"I remember you from last night," she said, her tone wasn't friendly not was it hostile.
~xXx~
Five minutes had came and went by the time Zakeru was walking out of the house to the bike parked just on the curb. It's black and brass parts made it look extremely steampunk. Slipping on a protective leather jacket, he straddled the leather seat and started the engine.
It purred to life beneath him.
Zakeru grinned and took off down the street towards the shop his stepfather own farther out of the city. He knew it would take minutes to get there. But he was still a little tired and in desperate need of some caffeine. So he stopped at a coffee (the same one as Sol) and parked the bike before entering the building.
He unzipped the jacket slightly as he places his order for the caffeine he so desired.
Greyson yanked on Rana's leash a bit harder when the massive dog snarled louder. People were beginning to stare. Rana's attention moved from the wolf-smelling girl, Isedon, to the forest on the far side of the park. The dog either had an amazing sense of smell, sight, or a knack for sensing things in general, because just as her eyes set their gaze on the trees, a man in black clothes came into the clearing where the majority of the park was set.
Rana's fur bristled.
"Yeah. I saw you at the carousel," Greyson said, and nodded. "Rana normally doesn't act like this. I don't know..." He was suddenly aware that his dog wasn't growling at Isedon anymore, but she was facing the opposite way, every strand of its fur standing on end to try and make it bigger. Whatever was going on over there, it alarmed his dog so much that she didn't even growl or snarl.
Greyson whirled around, and saw nothing that would make his dog act like that.
"I think my dog is crazy."
~~~~~~~~~~
Solstice was staring at the steampunk bike outside of the coffee shop. She didn't see many items like that, and she was intrigued. She had half a mind to go and ask the rider how he managed to get a bike like that. Of course, she wasn't about to go walk up to a stranger about his bike.
And there was the fact that she was now aware of the black-dressed man staring daggers at her back. She'd done her best to ignore the man, but she nearly jumped when he stood and walked over to her and sat down.
He asked her a question in some language she didn't understand. It wasn't even a registered language, Solstice thought, because she'd never heard anyone speak like that. When the man saw that she didn't understand him, his face turned red, and his eyes flashed.
He began yelling frantically in the language, and he waved his arms frantically. Solstice jumped backwards, and out of her chair. The man stood his ground, his eyes turned nearly white, and Solstice felt her blood go cold. Something was not right about this man. Something was definately not right.
