The sudden reply, then its prompt cut-off, alerted Izzy to possible trouble. Diana began to shift within their shared mind. It didn't seem... Safe. The voice has been stopped by force. Red alarms began going off, but Izzy shrugged them off. She made her small, curvy body move faster over the trail, concern filling her voice. "Are you alright? Did you fall? Maybe I should call a rescue team." She sped up, following the rustling in the leaves. Her hair fell out of its bun, rippling down her back in wild auburn waves. "Please, don't run. You might be hurt." In her mind Di began growing restless, worrying that they would fall into some kind of trap. Still, Izzy's instinct to be helpful overpowered any possibly warning that her human companion could send. Finally she caught up with the pair, panting like mad. In retrospect, she probably looked like a wild woman, though much to soft and plump in build to be very threatening in any way.

When Andy felt that they were far enough away from the person, he slid to a stop. He refused to let go of Beth's hand, even if she kept protesting to let go during the run. Finally though, he had to so she could lie down.

"You think who ever it was, is gone?" He asked, leaning against a tree, watching his scared and breathless sister lay down.

"Lets pray they are. I'm tired of running." Andy scowled at her choice of words, but stayed silent. Beth realized what she said, and was about to defend that she didn't mean it the way Carrie did, but before she could, the person they were running from was closer. Beth got up slowly, and stared off at the little distance now between them. Beth did a small laugh to herself. "We were running from one girl, Andy. A single girl, that looks like she couldn't even harm a fly. We should really be more observent these days..." She kept laughing to herself, while Andy still scowled, and looked where Beth was staring happily.

"We should run again. There could be Seekers right behind her. She could be their messenger, to say where we are! C'mon, we can outrun her in no time." Andy said, still scowling. But, Beth didn't like that idea. She said she was done running. She meant that, and she didn't believe that girl was a Seeker. Before Andy could stop her, she started running to the girl.

"Hi! Were not hurt, my brother thought you were a Seeker, so he forced me to run...." She trailed on and on, while walking closer to the girl, babbling.

Stubborn brat's going to get us killed...

Andy thought, while running out to Beth. He wasn't losing her too, so if this girl made him even a little suspicious, he would grab Beth and go. He, also chose not to say anything. Instead, he stayed right behind Beth, glaring at the girl who was supposedly 'harmless'.

Giggling a little at the girl's forwardness, catching her breath. At least they'd stopped running. Then the Seeker comment came up, and a million thoughts passed the front of her mind almost simultaneously. She took in their bedraggled appearances, adding it to how they had run from her, along with all of Diana's warnings, and everything clicked together. 'Humans.' Diana was in the back of her mind, nodding triumphantly. 'That's right. Now we just need to figure out a way to help them.' Izzy's eyes went wide, like those of a deer in headlights. She looked from the girl, warm and open, to the boy, cold and suspicious. Would they accept her help? All she could do was hope...

"Hey there! I'm glad. I was really worried for a second. It's not normal to run from someone who's offering assistance." Meekly Izzy turned to the boy, obviously the young girl's big brother, showing him in one glance that she knew their secret, and that she meant no harm. "You both look like you've been running for a very long time. I have some relaxing tea at my camp, with cookies and everything. Perhaps you'd like to tell me your story, and I could tell you mine?" She smiled softly, still a bit wary, and met both their eyes. Diana's voice was constant in her head, feeding advice on how to carefully handle the situation. 'Very good. Keep calm, keep friendly. I think the boy will follow wherever his sister goes, so just maintain peace. We can help them, Iz. These two are part of the resistance. I... I feel like I have to help.' Nodding, Izzy's ex
pression became distant as she respond mentally. 'I feel it, too. You know, I never felt bad about what we did until we came here.'

The second the girl started talking, Andy knew this was a bad idea. Just one look at her eyes, you could tell she was one them. The soul's that took his Carrie away. He never hated someone this passionate.

While Andy was having a fit in his mind, Bethany smiled with relief. He guessed she didn't care about the fact that her eyes weren't like his and his sisters. "Boy, am I glad someone else is around here! Me and my brother would love to come with you, right Andy?" The 'love' and 'right' were emphasized. Andy guessed it was just to make him all the more mad. He didn't soften his face when he said,

"No. Were not interested. Good bye." He grabbed Beth by the arm, as gently as he could with his blood pressure rising, and tugged her slightly to follow. "I'm not comfortable with being with a soul." He said 'soul' with a disgusted tone, and started walking away. But Beth, frowned, and shook her arm away, and kept going with the conversation as if Andy didn't say a thing.

"I'm Beth, and as I said before, that's Andy..." As she talked, she walked closer to the girl, feeling comfortable as if they were long time friends. After babbling for quite some time about how they found this place, she said took a breath, and said, "Oh my gosh. I forgot to ask. What's your name?" Andy crossed his arms, staring directly at the girl. His whole body itched for that moment when the Seekers came out to attack. With that thought in mind, he stepped closer to Beth, even though he was closer to her now.

This time Izzy really did laugh, positively glowing. Not even the brother's blatant mistrust could dampen her appreciation of the girl's bluntness. She really could go on. In the back of her mind Iz could sense Diana's mild annoyance, though even the grump had to admit that such friendliness was a good sign. At the end ofthe mini rant she held out her hand, grinning ear to ear. "My name is Dances with Island Waves, but you both can call me Izzy. Also, my friend Diana told me to give you both her salutations."

'Did not.' 'Hush.' 'What, not eve gonna tell me to shut up? You really need practice being bossy now a-' 'SHUT UP!' 'Fine. Jeez.' After the brief out-of-mind experience Izzy re-grounded herself, still smiling at the two humans. "Well, Beth and Any, my camp is just a bit up that way. By the way, Andy, you don't have to be afraid of me. I could never pass the fitness test required to be a Seeker. I love running around the outdoors, but forced excercise was never really my cup of tea. Speaking of which..." With that she turned, beginning the long trek back to camp, willing to make conversation if the other two were so inclined.

Beth grinned happily as she skipped to catch up with her new friend. Disgusted by the fact that the thing said her name, Andy didn't reply. Instead, he walked beside Beth, farther from Izzy. He looked forward, trying to get out of his mind the fact that she could be walking them both to their deaths. To the Seekers. He stayed silent, while Beth kept rambling.

"...And I thought that we would never find anyone else..."

and,

"...Were going to have so much to say to eachother!..."

After a while of walking, (And Beth's rambling.) Andy stopped walking and stared piercingly at Izzy. He tapped on Beth's shoulder, a signal for her to shut up.

"You said before, that 'Diana told me to give you salutations'..." He quoted. "What did you mean? Diana told you?" Beth stared at him, confused. She probably didn't' even think about what she said hard enough. But, even though Beth said 'they should be more observent', he knew he was observent enough to figure something was different about her. He finally did.

The rambling was easy to deal with. It gave Izzy something to focus on other than how much she'd just run. Well, at least she'd made a new friend. Immediately, Iz decided that she liked Beth. The girl's warmth and social nature were a wonderful contrast to Diana's kind but often cutting, quiet sarcasm. So Izzy just nodded, smiling, happy for the break in coherent thought.

Until Andy mentioned Diana.

In retrospect, she probably shoudn't have said anything. Quickly squelching a roaring 'I told you so!' from Di, she turned to Andy and took a deep breath. She would not lie.

"When I came, I requested that I not be given the body of a child. It's been my habit to learn the controls of a life form before trying to learn through the infant and toddler stages. It takes far too long. But with this body..." She motioned to it shrugging. "The human wsn't willing to give it up. And I do not like using force. So, we made a deal. We learned about each other. I listened to her, and she listened to me. I learned about her childhood, and she learned about mine. I came to know her as a friend. Now, we share this body. Every decision I make I make with her. Her name is Diana. So you see, I am different. I, too, have a natural fear of Seekers, because Diana fears them. I fear spiders as well, though logically there is no reason. Diana shared her memories with me, and in return I got some of her personality. She says that she misses living on the planet of flowers, even though she has never been there, because I shared my memories of that place. Do you understand?"

She heldher hands out in surrender, trying to think of what else she could do to make this human see that she was not a threat.

Andy didn't think Beth understood the tension, because the second Izzy explained herself, Beth said, excitedly,
"Your going to have to tell me ALL about your adventures! Planet of flowers? What's that place like?" She started walking again with Izzy, surprisingly keeping herself quiet to hear the stories Izzy could tell. Soon, Andy started walking again. She didn't seem as harmless, and she feared the Seekers, which was actually good. While he was sorting things out in his head, a couple feet in front of him, Beth said "C'mon. Lighten up. We got a new friend who has normal drinks, not ones that have to be stolen. Same with food." The humans didn't know that the Soul's never paid for anything. So technically they weren't stealing a thing when they took people's food and water. It was just the fact that they were humans, that made them think they were stealing.
Andy didn't respond to Beth, but kept walking his usual pace, while watching the two from behind. It seemed as if they've known eachother all their lives. Was that how all girls were when they met someone knew? He knew he wasn't like that, so he guessed it was just a girl thing.
After a while of sorting things out in his head again, he resulted in telling himself he would lighten up, be his normal self, as friendly as possible, but keep his gaurd up too. But he also promised himself, he wouldn't be so 'lightened up' that he acted the way she was. It just wasn't human. Of course, that's not a funny joke, because all the people in the world aren't normal humans anymore. So it's normal to not act human... Thought's like that had him drift back to Carrie. Where was she now? Who was the soul that chose to take her life, and use her body their own way? Who was the selfish little demon who took her out of this world and go to - ... To where?
To keep his head out of these mournful thoughts, he walked a little quicker to catch up with Beth, and Izzy.

Smiling, and with Diana's help, Izzy brought back the memories of the planet of flowers. "It ws very... Peaceful. Centuries could pass by, and all I would know was the turning of the seasons. There were the winters, when we hybernated, and the spring, when we would reemerge and spread our seeds. It was very easy to just forget who I was. We didn't talk, just communicated through a system of roots that seperated family groups. It was wonderful. There was never any war, never any real pain. It was all light and soft and beauty. The only problem was that I never really had any strong emotions or senses. I could feel the sun and my fellow flowers, but that was about it. Here there's almost too much to feel, physically and emotionally. No other life form feels like humans do. It's incredible."

She sent a smile back to Andy, her ex
pression reassuring. Maybe he was worrying over someone. Hopefully, that someone had ended up like Diana, befriending her soul. She couldn't help but wish for that, for Andy's sake. By the time Izzy had relayed every other detail of life as a flower and answering Beth's seemingly unending questions, they had reached Izzy's camp. Quickly she brought back the fire, putting a pot of tea on to boil and pulling out the well-stocked snack pack. "Well, I have just about everything. Feel free to help yourselves to whatever you like. There are even some instant noodles, since I'm already boiling water and what-not."

When they reached Izzy's campsite, Beth sat down, and forced Andy down with her, just in case he started being stubborn again, and staying away from the two. After the two were settled down, and Beth got something to eat (Again, she forced Andy to eat something. No matter what he said, she knew he was just as hungry as she was.), Beth started asking a little more questions. But she was more calm now that there was a fire, and food. The scene had a relaxed mood.
"Thanks!" Beth said, while getting some gold fish out of the snack pack, "So, what are some other planets that you've been too? Other then the planet of flowers?"  She gave Andy a handfull as she listened. Andy muttered a thanks as he got a water bottle, but it was so quiet, he chose not to say it again for her to hear.
Andy mentally told himself he would be more friendly, just keep his gaurd up, but he couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable. Just think, this is the thing that stole Carrie? How can he befriend it as easily as Beth? He guessed these things take some time.

At the question, Izzy let the floodgate of memories open. She told of how much she had loved the planet of oceans, from which she had come to Earth. She went on about life in a world of brilliant colors and numerous life forms, of a backdrop of crystal blue and pearl sand, of how the being she had inhabited was such a frolicking, light-hearted creature. She tried to explain the extremely complicated family relationships and housing structures, which were built by the six tiny, delicate hands each being possessed. In her rant she referred to them as dolphins, when in reality they were much more complicated, just like everything was on that planet of brilliance.

After that she told a little about life as a Fire Eater, which she had lived previous to the dolphins, explaining how frightening and violent it had been compared to the Flowers. The worst part was burning and eating another creature, hearing it scream as it was cooked alive. Especially since they were close in appearance and behavior to the peace-loving Flowers. During all of this she went about steeping and pouring the tea, making sure that the both of them got steaming mugs with just enough sugar.

"It has been a most interesting existence for me, to say the least."

Wide-eyed, Beth listened intently to everything she explained. She never wanted to be a Soul of course, but the stories made her so fascinated, she couldn't help but imagine what it would be like for her to be there in the other planets. The hot tea tasted very good against her dry throat, which made her mood even more relaxed. When Izzy was done, Beth replied, more to herself then to Izzy, "I bet it has..."
Though, he wouldn't admit it out loud, Andy was just as captivated by the stories, as Beth was. But he was more the 'Keep it to himself' type guy so he didn't make a big deal about it. Just as Beth did, he enjoyed the hot tea too. It was better then what they used to drink, and it soothed him.

Izzy's attention flickered to Andy, noting his slight relaxation. That was a good sign. After all, it would be hard to help someone who didn't trust you. And so she relaxed as well, letting out a deeply relieved sigh. She sipped at her own tea, letting the milk and chamomile smooth over any frayed edges in her nerves. It was quite amazing to her what amazing effect something so simple could have on a human's system. Unbelievable, really. And so she sipped, feeling the worries of her day wash out like so much dye in an overwashed shirt. Only less negative.

"If you don't mind me asking, how long have you lot been on the run?"

It seemed like everyone enjoyed the minute of silence, as they all sipped their tea. When Izzy started conversation again, the era was still there. Beth began,
"Well, I don't know how long exactly, but it's been a while. We didn't believe it all was really happening at first, but when we did we ran out before the Seekers could find us. How long do you think, as an estimate, has it been, Andy?" Andy looked up from his tea, and said,
"I'd say about..." He counted for a second, mentally. "4 months. 4 and a half." Beth nodded in agreement, and said,
"Atleast, Andy and I survived for that long. Our parents, and Carrie, Andy's fiancee, got taken away just a couple days ago by the Seekers." The one thing really awful thing about Beth was, she didn't think before she talked. She was never sensitive when talking about Carrie. "Sorry, I didn't mean to bring her up again." Beth muttered to Andy.  Andy didn't respond. He took a last drink of his tea, and asked, "How long you live here?"  Changing the subject nonchalauntly was his forte.
