Birds’ singing and twittering their morning greeting was the soft noise that the Clan awoke to. Soft rustling sounds accompanied by hushed yawns was the sound of the waking camp, as cats slipped out of their dens to greet the soft sunshine that filtered through the leaves. Inside the warrior’s den a large long-furred bulk stirred in answer to his Clan’s waking. Two ears twitched with irritation as the gray tom lifted his head sleepily, letting out a small yawn. ‘Morning,’ he meowed blearily, crouching on his paws as he gave his chest fur a few quick licks.
Blinking his eyes Skyheart stood to his paws and slipped out of the den, away from his cozy nest near the center of the den. Fluffy tail flicking with anticipation the tom padded towards the fresh-kill pile, licking his jaws as the warm scent of prey filled his sensitive nostrils.
‘The prey seems to be running well,’ the Deputy mused as he plucked a small vole from the pile of prey. Although its size was puny, the vole was fat and well-fed. a welcome meal for the starving tom.

Brambleslash shifted in his nest with a growl of irritation as Skyheart padded out of the den. His denmate Crimsonsky shot him a look from beneath her ginger tail, giving him a small hiss of frustration before curling back up into her nest.
What did I do this time? Brambleslash thought with a small sigh, stretching his back as he stood. Scowling, for his short tabby fur did nothing against the sigh of cold air that gusted through the entrance, the tom pushed his way through the hanging brambles that protected the entrance of the den. Giving a small growl when his wide shoulders became stuck, the tom nipped at the brambles delicately until they let go of his fur.
‘Skyheart,’ he mewed respectfully to the Deputy, inclining his head slightly.

Crimsonsky uttered a few unintelligible meows under her breath, shutting her eyes at the daylight Brambleslash had let in when he had left the den. She tightly wound up body prevented her from touching any of the neighboring warriors, but it left her susceptible to the cold air that now wound around the small den.

Dustfeather’s long and fluffy tan tail tickled her into wakefulness, causing the small-boned she-cat to sneeze loudly. ‘Ugh,’ the she-cat moaned quietly, stretching out one paw, which was accompanied with a long yawn.
‘It’s too early in the morning,’ she meowed quietly, but even so she forced herself out of her nest and out of the den, mewing a tired hello to Skyheart and Brambleslash.

Frostpaw squeezed through the narrow dirt-place tunnel with a small smile hovering about her muzzle. She dashed into the Apprentice’s den excitedly, all but tripping over her denmate Windpaw in her haste.
‘Windpaw! Guess what! We’re having our a.ssessments today!’ she meowed happily, nuzzling her friend gently.

Windpaw nodded sleepily, ‘I heard Rainbreath speaking to Skyheart about it. I can't wait.'

Ragedstar yawned, awakened from his sleep by the prey singing. He hopped out of bed, just as the sun had crept up to its place in the sky. He yawned, showing rows of white teeth and a black spotted tongue. As he stepped out of the den, the wind blew out a puff of air, ruffling his brown fur. The void of color on the side of his body prickled and he sat down to itch it. He forgot all about the itch when he noticed his deputy, Skyheart. "Skyheart." Raggedstar licked his friend in greeting. "May I lead dawn patrol?" He wondered as the suns fingertips swept over them, warming the camp. He smiled slightly. "I believe that Waterpaw and Eaglepaw both have their *censored*esments today, as do Windpaw and Frostpaw. Any idea what I should name them..." His eyes glinted with happiness as if he was a kit again, "when they p*censored*?"... ------- Rest are coming.

Snowkiss woke up with a moan. She walked over to the fresh kill with Willowsong and Snakeheart by her. "Goodmorning everyone."Snowkiss said. She started eating some food. Snakeheart sighed and looked down. He looked at Dustfeather. "Goodmorning Dustfeather."He said.

Dustfeather nodded curtly, eyes betraying no emotion. `Good morning Snakeheart. How is the prey running?` she mewed politely. Only her twitching tail betrayed her true feelings, that of slight irritation and shyness. Giving the tom a sorry look, the she-cat turned back to the fresh-kill pile, nosing gently through the prey until she found the perfect mouse. Plump even for leaf-green, Dustfeather was pleased with her find.

‘If they pa.ss,’ Skyheart meowed with a purr of amusement. ‘Of course, I would never doubt their abilities. For Frostpaw and Windpaw…well, I feel as if they should be Frostleaf and Windsong respectively. This is your decision though.’ He licked his jaws lazily and glanced over to the two apprentice’s Windpaw and Frostpaw, who were chatting together excitedly. ‘They’re like nestmates,’ he meowed softly, eyes becoming gentler as he watched the two share tongues as they ate. ‘Windpaw is lucky to have Frostpaw. With her parents dead, and Frostpaw’s as well—‘ The tom shook his head sadly. ‘Well, they seem to get along well and that is exactly what we need. More than simply loyalty, but to have all our warriors be kind to one another. Friendship is important within a clan.’ ~ Crimsonsky sighed as the noise outside the den became unavoidable. Might as well get up now. It seems as if Raggedstar has awoken as well. Blinking her light green eyes to rid them of the sticky substance that came with sleep, Crimsonsky padded out of the den into the bright sunlight. ‘Morning,’ she mewed roughly to Skyheart and Raggedstar as she pa.ssed, making time for a quick dip of the head before slipping past them to the fresh-kill pile. ~ ‘Look who woke up on the wrong side of the nest,’ Brambleslash teased, though his heart wasn’t in it like it used to be when he had taunted his sister. Belle’s death had changed all that. ‘Aren’t you going to eat?’ he asked suddenly, looking at his sister with the same pale green eyes that the two shared. A trait inherited from their father.
