Dravius felt compelled to grin back at Maya's mother, then looked back at Maya, dropping his hands back to his sides, and letting the over sized sleeves slide back over his pale, scarred hands. The tall male was a little surprised to hear the almost identical laugh coming from Lucia's throat, tilting his head to the side, and rubbing the heel of his hand into an eye, before being gently shoved, the shove itself having little effect, but he moved forewards anyways, ducking his head slightly to avoid smacking it on the top of the doorframe. The house, although small, was very bright, and the kind of place that would be shown in the movies located in the middle of a magic forest with puppies and other small animals frolicking around it. Dravius moved to a space beside the window, leaning against the wall. He studied Maya and Lucia's short interaction in the middle of the room, taking a small coin from his pocket, rolling it between his fingers. It was a polished bras.s, with a square hole in the center, large ehough to put the coin on a chain or similar ob ject. At Maya's very awkward explanation to her changed appearance, grinned crookedly at the two from the background, nearly dropping his coin in the process. It was eventually just dropped back in Dravius' pocket, and he took his weight off of the wall, blinking slightly. He smiled slightly when Lucia left, moving to sit on the couch beside Maya. He sighed slightly, sitting his hip and Maya's were touching, and slipped an arm around her waist. "Are you alright?" He asked, bringing his face closer to hers. He looked mildly worried, his head tilted to the side. He was still smiling slightly, then straightened up and leaned against the clean white sofa.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

Having listened to Nylat''s entire explanation in silence, Julian's gaze remained firmly on the vans in the distance, and the movement that belonged to the bustling members. He could see, quite clearly, even from this distance, that a number of people had already formed a qeue for Circus tickets.
Exhaling through his nose, the Sword-Master looked down at Nylat. "I see. You're probably right. No-one but you could understand that..." He paused, then raised an eyebrow slightly. "Except, perhaps... The other hybrid in question."
"I would like to point out however, that killing him will really accomplish nothing. From what I have seen, there is very little in the way of hostility with him. Yes. If he was indeed hostile or aggressive, I'd agree with you." The Sword-Master's gaze flicked back to the Circus. "But it seems he really does not pose a threat."
Keeping his eyes where they currently were for only a moment longer, Julian slipped from the branch, coming to land soundlessly on both feet just under where Nylat was now situated. In all honesty, he hadn't tried to understand everything the hybrid had said. Because yes, it would be completely pointless. To try and even comprehend how she handled all the contradictory feelings within was almost moronic. He could, however, understand her need to protect, though it seemed her human part had not quite understood that the new hybrid showed nothing in the way of harm to others. He seemed peaceful, from what Julian had seen, anyhow.
He looked up at the hybrid, then raised his eyebrows slightly, yawning a little, then used a hand to loosen the black strands in front of his eyes. "... In my opinion, and don't take this the wrong way, I think perhaps... Your perception of the newcomer is warped by your only other previous experience with a hybrid." He shrugged, then turned his gaze back to the Circus as he started walking back.
"If nothing else, he's solid proof your not the only one of your kind."

Zyano had watched Erik's interaction with the kid with little interest, his gaze always finding something else to focus on. He was already beginning to feel a little restricted here. He really was not used to being among so many people in one area.
Pulling his gaze back to the two, he flicked an ear at the boy who had introduced himself as Daniel as he asked him a question. It wasn't hard to deduce this kid much preferred the more beastly of the species. He seemed somewhat... Restricted when interacting with other humans. "My name?... Zyano." He replied blithely, sniffing a little before turning to watch a pas.sing Circus member.
He only turned back to Daniel when Erik spoke, and yawned once before responding, his tone indifferent. "I highly doubt anyone would want to look at you anyway. They're all far too busy." He allowed his tongue to fall in a wolfish grin, watching another couple of members as they skirted around him in a wide arc.
"He doesn't need to mean anything by it." Zyano snorted quietly, flicking both ears up in Eriks direction. "But I refuse to be treated like a pet. It irritates me, that is all." He looked back at Daniel, ears raised. Hed get the idea eventually. Probably.

Having been reminiscing and staring at the floor, Maya barely noted Dravius' movements until she felt him seat himself next to her, looking up at him as he slid an arm around her waist and leaning onto him a little. She had to lean back a tad in order to keep his face in focus as he moved it closer, smiling slightly.
"I'm... Alright. Just thinking." She responded, using a hand to brush a little of Dravius' now completely black hair out of his face. "You cut it?" She murmered in question, tugging on a lock of his hair and smiling. She went back to looking at the floor for a second or two before turning her gaze to the window, chewing her lip a little. "It's just the memories here, you know?... Kinda hard to return someplace and just... Not think about how it used to be."
She smiled at him, more to let him know she really was fine than any other reason, before pouting at him. "And you didn't need to grin like that while I was explaining things to my mother." She added, still pouting and pointing a finger at her hair. She remained silent for the next few minutes, up until the point her mother returned carrying glas.ses of some colourful fruit juice. She threw a smile at the older woman in thanks, taking two glas.ses and holding one out to the young man next to her as Lucia seated herself in another seat.
"So." She stated, holding her own glas.s in her slender fingers, looking at Maya and Dravius with a warm smile. "you're the Co-Master of this... Circus, am I right?" She asked, taking a sip of her juice and looking at Dravius.
"I never mentioned any of that." Maya replied, looking a little confused. Lucia, after taking one look at Maya's exporession, held up a hand and stood up, walking over to a nearby drawer. "I was really hoping you'd end up coming to find me, pretty much as soon as I knew you were here." The older woman slipped a piece of paper off the top the drawer, handing it to Maya and re-seating herself. "I was... Pretty much on the verge of coming to find you myself."
Maya, meanwhile, was reading the paper. It was a flyer for the Majikus, one that had been distributed by Julian when they had stopped here. A few members had been named on the flyer, both Maya and Dravius being two of them. "Oh." She murmered, looking up from the flyer as Lucia continued.
"It was... Nice, to think this Circus of yours was doing so well... What with everyone you'd told me in that letter of yours eight years ago." She paused, then laughed a little. "How is it, anyway?... Life at the Circus?"
Maya could only look at her for a moment, then sighed, half smiling as she did. She knew this would happen. It was natural her mother would more or less want to know everything. What followed was pretty much an hour long deion of everything that had pretty much taken place after Maya's running away (As well as what Maya's mother had been up to the past few years). She delibrately, however, missed out the issue with Alto, everything that had happened in the last couple of week wiith Break, and anything else that really didn't need to be mentioned.
"So yes. Hectic sometimes... But it's... One of the only places I really feel I belong, you know?... Besides here, of course. Though here wasn't always... Easy, I guess." Maya finished, staring into her now empty glas.s before smiling at her mother. Lucai's face was thoughtful. She'd sensed things had been left, though chose not to question them.
"It's just good to know, that you've been okay. And that you have somewhere you can call home, at least..." Lucia smiled, looked thoughtful for a moment, then looking at Dravius with. "So how did you two end up together?"
The question, so completely unrelated and out of the blue, caused Maya to almost drop her glas.s. Lucky for her, her dancing reflexes meant she able to prevent it actually going anywhere, and frowned heavilyover at her mother, one arm held out, grasping the glas.s tightly. She should have expected it. Having left out all the... Well, more negative things in their discussion, she hadn't once mentioned her and Dravius. Not to mention it was her mother and she was bound to ask something like that... Eventually. Frowning a little, she then looked at Co-Master, her ex pression half amused and half, very, very worried.

Dravius focused on Maya brushing his hair out of his face and nodded gently, also making a small "Mmmhmm." noise, in response to her question about his hair. "Yeah, I can kind of understand. Although I don't really have a place like that, I don't think." Dravius sat back, coughing gently into the crook of his elbow. "Oh, I did, May." He grinned even wider at her, tugging on a long golden lock of hair. He immediatly stopped clowning around when Maya's mother came back into the room, letting go of Maya's hair, but still keeping his arm around the girl's waist, turning to the side to ough some more into the rich material of his black shirt. Dravius looked mildly surprised at Lucia's knowledge of his job, and said, at almost the same time Maya started talking, "Yes, ma'am." He nodded, then followed Maya's mother as she walked to a drawer, head tilted to the side. It was curoius that Maya's mom had managed to find all of this on her own. Mothers certainly were strange...Dravius thought to himself, gently scratching his jaw thoughtfully. He leaned over Maya a little bit to study the flyer that she held in her hands. He sipped his juice slowly, blinking lazily and spacing out a bit during Maya's explanation to her mother, as he already knew the details of everything, though he raised an eyebrow at the abscence of any mention of Break or Alto. Dravius was tipping his glas.s back to drink the last of his juice when Lucia asked him the question, inhaling the liquid, causing him to cough, and press his face into his sleeve. "Wh-what?" He stammered, eyes wide. "Get together?" He sat back and thought for a minute or two, before saying slowly, "Well, a little bit after I got my eye messed up, I holed up in my van for...eight months. I kind of realized I missed her most of all, and...you'll have to ask her what she thought. And then, a little bit after....there was a bit of an outside problem, Maya was thinking of leaving, and I guess I realised that was the thing that....I'd hate most of all, so I went after her?" He said this all with a halting, uncertain tone, turning bright red at the end, pressing his face into his sleeve, coughing nervously. He began wrapping locks of Maya's long hair around his fingers, still blushing quite furiously.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

Having been staring at the floor, trying to think up a feasable answer to her mother's question that didn't involve Break and the rest of the nastiness, the girl had been paying scant attention to much else. Well, had been, up until the point a nearby splutter caught her attention. Turning her face to look at Dravius, she slipped her empty glas.s and the flyer she'd been holding onto a nearby side table, then smiled fleetingly at Dravius' rather stunned ex pression.
She highly doubted he'd guessed such a question would be asked. What with her and Lucia being apart eight years. You'd have thought they'd spend the entire day catching up with eachother. Only what Dravius didn't know, was that Lucia was far more observant than she seemed, and she had a tendancy to as.sume things accurately aout people. Besides. As long as she knew Maya had been fine and happy the last few years of her life, that was good enough for her.
Lucia, having been sat with her fingers linked and her chin resting lightly on top of them, could only smile at the Co-Masters rather halted deion that he contrived in answer to her question. It wasn't particularly detailed but... She got the gist of it. And sounded far more complicated than he was portraying, though she chose not to delve. "Ah." She murmered, glancing at the cieling. "I see." Pausing for a moment to look at the two of them, she then cracked into another smile. "I'm happy for you. Both of you."
Maya had watched Dravius carefully at his recital of his version of events, and sighed quietly in relief that he'd completely forgone all the... Things she hadn't wanted to mention. Despite being there, in the presence of her mother, her mind buzzing with ways to avoid speaking of all the unpleasantness, Maya couldn't help but laugh at the way Dravius looked by the end of his sentences. Although admittedly she didn't actually laugh out loud. It took a great deal of effort to keep herself from doing so, and had to look away from him and at the wall, biting her lip and trying to stem a smile. Poor guy.
Eventually getting herself under control, she threw a thankful sort of smile in Dravius' direction, smiling still when she faced her mother again. "It was... Complicated." She added lamely, pouting, before focusing her gaze on a nearby clock. Her mother followed that gaze.
"You need to go?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Maya blinked, then shook her head quickly. "Oh... No. I mean... I don't want to... But. It's just..." She paused, then glanced at the window and the bright, warm light outside. "A friend of ours isn't very well and... The Circus... It's opening show is tonight."
Lucia looked thoughtful, then smiled and stood, collecting the empty glas.ses as she did. "It's alright. You've told me everything I missed, I can't really ask for more than that. Besides, I need to go soon myself. Though... I would very much like you to promise you'll come by again... Sometime before the Circus moves on?" She asked, smiling. "I'd enjoy spending the time with you before you leave again."
Maya looked at her for a moment, then laughed, standing so that she could wrap her arms around her mothers shoulders. "Alright. I promise." She murmered quietly, closing her eyes for a moment in order to stop herself welling up. Last thing she needed was to break down and cry after managing so far. Lucia laughed quietly, before pulling herself out of Maya's grasp and simply looking at her.
"I'm so happy you came to see me today. It's... Nice, to know you're fine and well." She said, still laughing slightly as she gently ran her thumb across Maya's cheek. "Stops me worrying, at any rate. Not that I really need to, it seems." She added, smiling slightly in Dravius' direction before walking to the door and opening it. Maya followed shortly behind, looking out onto the street for a moment before hugging her mother again.
"I'll come back." She smiled, throwing her cloak over her shoulders and taking a few steps out onto the path. Lucia nodded slightly, then turned her gaze to Dravius.
"It was nice meeting you, Dravius. And thank you. No doubt Maya would have taken a little longer to get the strength to come see me if you hadn't come with her. I know her too well to think she made this decision." She stated, smiling warmly at him and gently touching his forearm with her fingers. She glanced fleetingly at Maya, her gaze focusing for the merest second on the orange gauze that was wrapped around her daughter's wrist before she looked back at the Co-Master, still smiling. "Take good care of her for me." She added quietly before dropping her hand, smiling once over at Maya, before retreating back through her doorway.

Nylat sat up and hunched her shoulders, her head drooping and her ears back. When she caught what Julian said, she growled slightly. "You seem to imply me talking to him. Not going to happen. And I see his lack of open hostility as well, but the hostile side of me seems intent on having me kill him. Trust me, I don't want to kill." She shuddered, the fur along her spine rising slightly. She was not going to turn into a killer. She'd seen animals like her killed in front of her eyes. She'd had to kill some herself before. She was not going to revert back to that. With a shake, she growled to herself at Julian's comment about warped perception. "I am not letting Jevak get in the way of my judgement." Her ears were flat and, as sure as she sounded, she doubted. She turned her head away and flicked her ears as Julian stated the last fact, but stayed silent. She knew it was true, but even with him being a hybrid, he was not the same. She was still one of a kind. She flicked her tail and dashed into the trees, running for a bit before leaping up and locking her jaws on a large tree branch. She shifted her weight ever so slightly and the branch broke free of the tree and she dropped to the ground. She shifted the branch in her teeth and started off toward the Circus at a trot, occasionally shifting the weight of the limb. She skirted the edge of the camp, keeping her eyes in front of her. She didn't want to chance a look and see that other hybrid. She was still a little riled up. With a flick of her tail, she turned and padded through the vans, weaving her way through and eventually jumping up on the hood of her own, then jumping up onto the roof. She flopped down and started chewing on the end of the branch mindlessly.
"You're off the edge of the map, mate. Here there be monsters."

"Oh, thank you." Dravius stopped flushing after a few seconds, bringing a hand to his mouth absentmindedly, resting a few cloth-covered fingers on his lips silently. He noticed Maya laughing internally, and shrugged minutely, supposing it was payback for his snickers during her explanation. He pushed her shoulder teasingly, saying, "You don't have to smile so wide, May." He grinned crookedly, looking towards the clock with the young woman. He didn't realise they had been there for nearly and hour and a half, and widened his eyes momentarily. "She's right. I didn't think we'd been here for more than three-quarters of an hour." Dravius nodded curtly and stood, handing his empty gla.ss to the other woman, standing ever so slightly away from the heat and light of the large window, swinging his arms gently back and forth. "It's Raphael who isn't feeling very well," He clarified quickly, coughing softly into the crook of his elbow. Dravius had fallen back into silence as Maya and Lucia exchanged a few words, hands deep in his pockets. The tall male was just turning to leave, before he pulled his attention back to the short woman, sloughing slightly. "I had to make her promise to come. I think she would have been happy just sitting in a field in the sun all day." The man chuckled slightly, smiling a bit shyly. He twitched a bit when Lucia touched his forearm, a bit surprised by the contact. "I-it was very nice to meet you too, Mrs. Vielle." Dravius bowed ever so slightly, nodding quickly and saying, "I definitely will. I would not have it any other way." He turned and, in two long strides, caught up to the young girl, making two very mismatched figures, tall and dark to short and light. Dravius leaned down to Maya and said quietly, "I think that went rather well, though your mother seems to have....not a lot of confidence in my ability to make you stay out of trouble." He laughed slightly, straightening up and running his arm through the gap between Maya's arm and her body, settling his elbow in the crook of hers. ------------------ Yehs and Noh had split off from the still snoozing May, snuffling along the ground in almost unison, long strings of spittle trailing from Yehs' jaws, the drool tinted a slight green, and a quiet hissing occured whenever the thick goo touched the ground. Both boys were very, very hungry, huffing and growling ever so often, looking up for a source of food. The signs on the clear glas.s of the shops seemed printed with gibberish to the two boys, neither of whom could read. Yehs snorted and spat a noxious-looking gob of spit to the side, although after the fact was still drooling as heavily as ever, tracks of shiny tinted green tracing down his chin. Noh skittered away from his brother as every strand of slobber fell from Yehs' jaws. Noh bared a set of yellowed teeth, looking like they should belong in an animal's mouth, rather than a young boy's. The two eventually wandered out of town, following a vaguely familiar scent. Neither could place where it was from, but they both decided to follow, Yehs leaving bits of wilted plant life in his trail, spraying spit to the side every so often. They snyffled a bit more until Yehs smacked his head on the trunk of a tree, whining confusedly, then looking up, the vicous solution that dripped from his jaws eating a small hole in the collar of his shirt in the process. Noh began barking loudly, sitting back on his haunches, trying to get the attention of the one from memory. They both remembered him as always having food, and began growling and letting out rasping barks in unison. Yehs was forced to put his head down after a bit, due to the mas.sive amount of spittle working it's way onto his clothing with his head tilted upwards. He began coughing, eventually dislodging a large ball of bright green, which prodeeded to begin eating a hole in the bark of the tree. Noh paid little to no attention to his brother, trying to climb the trunk of the tree, but stopped by the noose taut around his neck.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

Finishing the last piece of fruit on her plate, Kioko gathered up her crumpled napkin and stood up from the table. Smiling at Miyuki as she fluttered in the air, the pyro turned her crimson eyes to Selvai, still working through his own breakfast. "I guess I'll go take a walk," she told the magician. "Since it's a nice day, and right now there really isn't much for me to do around the circus." The striped haired man nodded once, picking at his scrambled eggs. "Alright. I will most likely wait for Disera here. Enjoy your walk, Kioko. Just be sure not to go too far away from the circus grounds." "I won't," she responded, waving goodbye as she left the van. Outside, Kioko took off in a random direction, going slow enough for Miyuki to keep up. She pas.sed by several vans, eventually leaving the circus grounds and entering one of the nearby fields. Strolling through the tall gra.ss, the teenager reached a low section of wall. Debating for a moment, she looked around, even though she was far enough away from the circus grounds that, even if someone felt like watching her, it was unlikely they could have. Not seeing anyone close by, the pyro climbed on top of the stone wall, arms held out for balance as she carefully walked the length of the old fence. Reaching the end, Kioko flopped down on the stones, swinging her legs off the edge. "Well. Now what should we do, Miyuki?" she asked the butterfly as it fluttered around, eventually settling on one of the worn rocks beside her.
"I WISH THAT PUNCTUATION HAD A PHYSICAL FORM SO I COULD SMOTHER YOU WITH IT."

Maya had been rather busy with looking up and down the street her old home resided on, and sifting through memories of the place when she sensed rather than heard Dravius approach. She looked over her shoulder, waving as her mother dissappeared from view, then blinked at the Co-Master.
Her response to his words was a long, drawn out "pff" sound. "Make me stay out of trouble?" She asked, corners of her lips turning up slightly. "Surely I'm not that bad. I don't get into trouble, that''s your job. And if I do, it's not on purpose. Makes me sound rebellious." She laughed, prodding the male in in his side, then frowning a little, brows furrowed. "And what exactly do you mean by that, anyway?... Did she say something?" The girl sounded slightly worried. Well, it wasn't too nice to know they'd gone to all that effort only to have her mother hate Dravius. Though somehow that seemed unlikely, she seemed fine with him earlier.
Pouting, Maya went to chewing lightly on her gauze, pulling her arm away when she noticed, and clinging onto Dravius' when he linked his arm with hers. "Huh... 'Kay." She murmered, sighing a little. "Suppose we should get back, huh?" She smiled slightly at him, then started walking back, gently tugging Dravius by his linked arm. "You know. I was just thinking, uh... Or remembering, maybe... My mom used to take me to this little river place... If I remember rightly. It's not too far from where the Circus is currently."
Maya paused, glancing up and using one hand to shield her eyes from the glare of the sun. With a smile, she dropped her hand and looked at Dravius, her ex pression verging on excited, still tugging gently on his arm. "I think we should go." She stated, practically skipping as she walked alongside him. "Not today, maybe... But before we leave?... Please? It's really, really pretty. And it's beautiful on days like this. I mean... You can go get wet, anyway, if it's too warm. There are all these big rocks you can jump off of... And stuff. We could take food with us... But only if you wanna go." She smiled at him, then went on to pretty much just hug his arm as they walked, heading back through town and towards the Circus encampment.
~~~
It was proving more difficult than he thought.
Vayne had been watching the Circus a while, and there was still no sign of the man he was trying to locate. Wolfe's scent was still very much in evidence around the area, but it was pretty clear he himself was elsehwhere. Ah well... It'd be worth it in the end, he was sure. All he needed to do was wait.
Running the tip of his thumb along the line of his sharp upper teeth, the tall, brown haired male was momentarily distracted by a number of snuffles and growls. Eh. Dogs. Never was fond of them. It was only when the sound increased in volume that the male risked a glance earthward. His ex pression showed absoloutely no surprise at all at the arrival of those two, but a slight irritation. The last thing he needed was someone to notice him thanks to the sound those two were making.
Wondering idly where exactly their "handler" was, Vayne swiftly rummaged around in a nearby pocket, dropping a small bag of raw snack meat into the general vicinty of the two boys below in order to quiet them so that he could continue to think. Looks like he'd need to purchase some more of that.
Looking back up at the Circus, he spent a good few minutes merely wondering, then raised an eyebrow and glanced back at Yehs and Noh. Oh ho. Perhaps those two could be of some use... It was then an idea hit him aquare in the face. Vayne had already as.sumed that Master Break had made some sort of mistake when he went after Dravius. A mistake he couldn't afford to make. If he could lure Wolfe out of the Circus, he could make use of the two, dog-like beings being at the Circus. If, heaven forbid, Wolfe somehow managed to dislodge himself from Vayne's grasp, worst case scenerio, taking the intended hostage with him... Then he'd head back to a Circus half dead or dying. My my... Wouldn't that just suck for him. He was intent on destrying Wolfe. One way or another. Either killing him or destroying him emotionally worked just fine.
Grinning viciously, the ex pression cut short, the young mans eyes narrowing sharply at the arrival of another two beings to the Circus. As far away as he was from the Circus, he could quite easily see the wings of one, and the other was easily recognisable. Wolfe. Vayne didn't bother to hold back the quiet growl that erupted from his throat.
My my. Looked like he had a lover, too. Or so he could as.sume going by how close they looked. The day just got better. Vayne could gain quite the upperhand here if he played this right. Wolfe, afterall, certainly did seem to be settled here. It was just too bad it was all about to come crashing around him. Standing up on the branch, the brown haired male had been about to issue a command to the brothers, pausing at the sight of yet another member.
This one, although still far away, was much closer to him than the Circus. He almost laughed. This was just... Too easy. She was the chosen one, then. Slipping from the branch, he activated his ability of utter control over the the girl on the wall, before remmoving a piece of material from his pocket. It was a small scrap of Master Break's clothing, one that very likely still had Dravius' scent all over it. Hed taken it hoping it would hold some clue, but now it could serve a different purpose. He held it out to Yehs and Noh, being sure to grasp the rope that held them together as he allowed them to re-as.ses Wolfe's scent. He didn't want them running into the Circus just yet. Not until he had the girl in his grasp.
It was with a vicious smile he forced Kioko to slip from the wall, and directly towards him. Vayne ensure she walked some distance away from the brothers so they couldn't accidentally cause some venom damage. He needed her alive. For now. And as soon as Dravius came looking. He'd let loose the brothers into the Circus. Even if Wolfe won this battle. He'd need to face another soon after. It really was just too bad for him.
Dravius only raised an eyebrow at the odd sounds Maya was making, and responded with a slight sigh, and "She just looke dat your wrist and gave me a bit of a look." He grinned sheepishly, blinking lazily in the strong sunlight. Draivus made small noises of agreement at Maya's first few statements, not having time to interject anything as she got going, grinning widely at her rambling, pleading statements. "Sure, we can go anytime you want." Dravius shrugged for a moment, looking at Maya wrapped around his arm, shaking it back and forth a bit. "Uhm. Maya. Why do you have a death grip on my arm, darling?" He grinned, walking in unison with the much shorter young woman. The trip back to the Circus was not a particularly long one, and he said, "We could have a bit of a picnic. I have a nice blanket and a basket in my van, if you like." He smiled, tilting his head to the side just enough to even his smile out a bit. "And I never thought you were one for swimming, or jumping off of..." Dravius paused for a second, "Big rocks." He blinked quickly once or twice, then leaned against the wall of his van, which they had reached, bending one leg to rest the bottom of his foot against the outside of his dwelling. ------------------------ Yehs and Noh had been barking with renewed vigor when something thudded to the ground in between the two siblings. That only set off more growling and snapping as the two fought over the raw meat, shredding the bag quickly, and Yehs ending up with the larger portion, due to the fact that Noh wanted nothing to do with the slightly hissing meat covered in his brother's spit. In fact, the larger twin more licked the meat off the ground than ate it, panting loudly as he did. Noh had plopped himself down to the side of his brother and was eating a bit more neatly, nibbling on the meat almost daintily, shooting a glance at Yehs every so often. Both finished, they sat back, Yehs' frenized breathing loud in comparison to the smaller Noh, who was picking at gr.ass blades, splitting them carefully with his nail. Yehs gave his sibling the look of one long-suffering, and shoved him over, enciting yet another short scuffle, coming out on the worse end, with long scratches down his face and neck. Yehs hissed loudly as the remembered one jumped down from the tree, spraying a large amount of drool everywhere, slattering Vayne's pant legs, tiny hole apparent. The hostility turned to curiousity as the tall man held out a purple scrap of cloth, stinking of the Master, and of another whose faint scent trails floated through the air. Both boys clustered around it, huffong deeply. Noh tried his hardest to spring towards the smell, snapped back by the noose around his neck, whining slightly. The arrival of another, stinking of ash, almost enough to obliterate the scent they were trying to find, made both twins growl in unison, an identical arch in their backs. Lunges were stopped in short order by the remebered one, so Yehs and Noh contented themselves with growling at the girl while sitting on either side of Vayne, Yehs sitting a bit apart, panting and drooling heavily.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."
Kioko had been thinking of what else to do with her day- sitting on a wall with only a butterfly for company got boring awfully quick- when her legs suddenly stopped swinging, freezing stiffly. It took a moment for the white haired girl to process the loss of control of her limbs, which was followed by overwhelming panic as she was unable to force her legs to continue their previous movements. Knowing she was too far away for anyone to hear, the pyro tried anyway to scream for help, hoping desperately whatever strange paralysis had taken over her legs would have spared her throat. Miyuki fluttered about her face eratically, obviously sensing something was wrong. Instead of raising her voice, the girl's body slid to the edge of the stone wall, pushing itself off and standing on a pair of legs that no longer obeyed her. She moved forward stiffly, heading for a patch of woods on the other side of the field. Getting closer, Kioko saw three figures, one standing over a smaller pair crouched on the ground. Her eyes began to water, and the young girl found herself wishing for Yama, or even Julian to make a sudden appearence. Standing in front of the strangers, Kioko felt the tears began to track down her cheeks. The oldest of the three, a harsh eyed, tall brunette, restrained the other two, a pair of young boys, attached to each other by what looked like a double noose. The pair snarled at her, and Kioko wished she could run away, or at least close her eyes to block out the sight of the feral boys.
"You're so lively today." Maya murmered, her tone both amused and sarcastic as she started prodding Dravius in the side as they walked, referring to his half-hearted noises of agreement. The girl went to watching nearby stores and people as they pas.sed, shifting a little uncomfortably under her cloak. It really was just too hot for that. She still refused to take it off, though.
It was Dravius' voice that brought her attention back to him, and she blinked, before breaking into another smile, throwing her arms in the air before re-attaching herself to his arm. "'Kay." She said, still smiling, and moving with the movement of Dravius' arm. "And I'm not death gripping on you." She snorted, laughing quietly as she loosened her arms and attempted to shove Dravius off to one side. No doubt it had little effect. It was pretty obvious the girl's mood had improved substantially, probably owing to the fact she was no longer facing that looming wall that was seeing her mother again. She'd done it, and it had turned out fine. Nothing to be so concerned over.
Once the two got over the Circus borders, Maya followed Dravius to his van, watching a nearby butterfly flutter crazily around a nearby bunch of flowers. "Picnic?" She asked, raising her eyebrows and smiling over her shoulder at him. "Sounds like a date, Mr. Wolfe." She laughed, tilting her head when the Co-Master did in the same direction. She much preferred his crooked smile when she could see it, though she strightened her head after a second and snorted; Prodding Dravius in the side again. "I'm not." She laughed. "I can't swim. And it's not safe for me to do so, anyway. And I've never actually jumped off those rocks, either. I wasn't really planning to."
Maya watched him lean himself against his van, then seemed to remember something of some importance. Shifting, the young woman took off her cloak, looked at it for a moment, then threw it over Dravius' head, bursting into giggles and quickly fleeing the scene with her arms outstretched. Unfortunately for her, it was far too warm to run for long, and she ended up simply flopping face first into the field, staying there a moment before pushing herself to her feet. She looked back towards the vans, watching the members in the booth on the outskirts of the boundaries. Looks like everything was running, despite Raphael being down for the count. She was sure he'd be okay, though. He always was. Sighing quietly to herself, she fled back towards Dravius, prodding him in the arm gently as she did so and then stepping out of his reach, smiling in a teasing sort of manner. "Have you had a chance to use your inks yet?" She asked, glancing at the van as though she might have been able to see whether or not he'd used them before looking back up at Dravius, looking rather over the moon about everything in general. ~~~ Watching the approach of the little white haired girl without a singlechange in ex pression, Vayne only smile slightly once she was close enough to see his face. "Why, hello." He murmered, placing one long-fingered hand onto the girl's head. "Sorry about the inconvenience. But I'm in severe need of a pawn." He added, glancing fleetingly at the two hissing boys. Honestly. Those two. Sighing gently through his nose, Vayne dug around in his pocket, throwing the last of the meat he carried over to the boys, before forcing Kioko to walk past him and further into the wood.He followed with a thoughtful ex pression, stopping only a few feet from where they started. "Now, boys." He stated, his voice both smooth and incredibly dark, eyes focusing on the slobbering Yehs and his much cleaner twin, holding the scrap of Masters material between two fingers. "Do not attack Wolfe. That is my job and mine alone. Your's is to simply ransack the place he calls home." The tall man gestured vaguely in the Circus' direction. He was pretty sure, despite the two's lack of english skill, they understood precisely what he wanted. "Head to the Circus. Move in when Wolfe leaves." He waved a hand at them, then let go of the rope. "You do this right, you'll get you all the meat you could possibly want."No doubt they knew what "meat" meant. Turning back to Kioko, the taler male grasped her roughly by a hand of snow white hair. "This will be interesting." He murmered, laughing cruelly and shoving her forward, being sure to force her to continue to walk. They reached a small clearing a good distance into the wood, Vayne very quickly scrawling a message before attaching it to the leg of a raven. One he currently held control over. He'd always been fond of birds. And there's nothing quite like being traditional when telling someone you had a friend held captive and that they should probably show up right away. Or, of course, unpleasant things might happen. Vayne held one arm out, the raven stood sedately on his forearm, almost seeming to glare at the helpless Kioko. "It might be nice to know I just might let you go after all this." The male murmered, sneering a little as he glanced sidways at the girl. "If, it goes well, that is... We'll see, though, won't we?" He immediately interrupted at this point by the fluttering critter that had followed close behind. It seemed intent on pulling his attention elsehwere. With a barely audible growl, and a lightning fast movement, Vayne struck out his spare hand, smacking the little lilac butterfly out of the air. "Pathetic..." He murmered, watching the butterfly as it haphazardly landed on the floor nearby. Snorting, Vayne turned to the raven on his arm, being sure to tighten the message attached. "Today, Wolfe. You will suffer. That I promise."
Yehs and Noh immediatley stooped making any noises in regard to the ashen one when another bag of strongly smelling meat was tossed into their midst, repeating the same process they had before, Yehs staring at his brother still chewing the raw food. They both sat straight up at Vayne's words, his voice silky smooth and rather dangerous. Although they didn't understand much of what was said, (those sentences went on forever) the general gist was to follow the scent clinging to the Master's clothes to where it was strongest, and to not be seen. Tilting their heads in unison, Noh reached out a spidery, clawed hand to grip the cloth and inhale deeply near it more, apparently better at tracking than his brother, who just sat and began shredding bits of gra.ss. Yehs barked once at the mention of the word "meat," grinning ferally at the promise of food. Noh snorted and shoved his brother over, skittering away from the flailing limbs as the other boy went down. As Yehs got to his feet again, and started casting about the ground for any traces of scent, trotting off towards the Circus. They moved at exactly the same speed, following small pockets of scent in a meandering path towards the Circus, ending up in short order behind a shabby black wagon, Noh rapping his skull smartly on the dulled wood. There was a thin door in the dwelling, which both slipped through in single file, floor creaking as they entered. Both boys froze up as the source of the stink that pervaded the van poked his head in, grabbing a few items, and paying absolutely no attention to the two. Both breathed out heavily, then began poking around the one-room place. --------------------------------------- Dravius grinned at Maya's agreement, ruffling her hair gently. "Well, I can't swim either, and don't really plan on learning anytime soon." He looked a bit thoughtful and then added, "And since I don't know how deep this stream is, I'm not going to be jumping off of anything..." He made a small "Mmmph" noise as the cloak fell over his head, lifting it off of his face and folding it over his arm, laughing quietly. "Where're you..." He cut himself off at the realization that Maya was gone, coughing slightly, and then opening his eyes wide as she returned just as fast, looking slightly bewildered. "Calm down, May," He laughed again, waving an arm at the girl poking him in the side. "No, I've been with you, goof." Dravius teased, flicking her in the cheek with the cloth of his sleeve, having to take a step towards her to make contact. "You go get the food, and I'll get a basket and blanket and meet you there?" He proposed, flicking his hands at her back in a "Shoo-shoo" motion, then reaching inside of his van. He froze for a moment, a bit of a rotten-fruit mixed with wet-dog smell reached his nose for a second. Dravius snorted and shook his head, retrieving a black wicker basket and a green-checked blanket, withdrawing from the dwelling and heading towards the food van, humming quietly. ------------------------------------- Yehs and Noh started sniffing around the dim van, smelling very little besides gore and fresh-cut gras.s, that made their noses itch. The van was covered in writing, and it bothered them to see so much gibberish, so many scribbles adorning the walls. The both growled at the walls, before stalking over to a red wooden box in the corner, nosing it open to find many, many glas.s vials that seemed very handy to begin throwing. So they did. In no time at all, the walls were covered in enough ink to blot out the words, and even the handprints in the corner. Going farther, Yehs dug his nails into the old wood and pulled hard, bringing away a hunk of ink-splattered muber with a satisfied growl. Noh joined in, shredding any cloth he could see, bits of clothing floating through the air. With a pleased yip, Noh sat down in the carnage with the polished wooden box in his lap, picking it to splinters slowly and methodically, with Yehs drooling heavly on the large red chair, eating through the seat, ruining it completely and utterly. The walls were decimated, not one word legible, even on the ceiling. Gla.ss and cloth were scattered everywhere, drawings shredded and charcoal and other supplies ground into the remaing floor, boards ripped up and scattered.
"You haven't been with me twenty-four-seven, Mr. Wolfe." Maya retorted, batting at Dravius' hand as he flicked his sleeve at her face and laughing quietly. "You might have had a few minutes at some point to just... I dunno. Scribble, or something. And okay. You don't have to jump. I'll just push you." Taking a step forward, the young woman tugged her cloak out of Dravius' arm, and folded it over her own, before snorting quietly and shaking her head. "On second thought, nevermind. I'd have more chance pushing the rock."
Giggling a little, it took her a moment to grasp what the Co-Master asked afterwards. "Food?" She asked, frowning a little. Oh!... "Woah, hold on-" But by this point, Dravius had already dissappeared into his van. "Huh..." In all honesty, Maya hadn't really expected he'd want to head to the stream today. Not after meeting her mother this morning, and having the opening Circus show tonight... Besides, they wouldn't have much time if they went today, not that she had a problem with it. She's just thought it would be a little later.
Shrugging to herself, she started walking, heading first to her van and depositing her cloak before walking to the food van. She didn't enter the van, pausing a moment to look at a raven perched atop the thing. She could have sworn it was waiting for someone.
Of course, that theory was soon proven upon Dravius' arrival, which had been close to a few seconds after Maya's. The raven, which had been blatantly staring at Maya, tilted it's head before giving off a loud and abrupt caw. Taking flight, the black bird flew directly over the Co-Master's head, being sure to drop the message as it went, before taking off towards the town. Maya had watched it go, before raising her eyebrows at Dravius, and picking up the paper, looking at it for a moment. It was folded, labelled only with "Wolfe". "I... Think this is for you?" Maya murmered, holding the folded paper to Dravius, and looking very, very confused. Well, even by Circus standards, such a delivery was unusual.
Standing in front of the stranger, Kioko would have flinched away at his touch, if she still had any control over her body. As it was, she could do nothing except listen, more terrified by the man's words than the loss of control. Pawn? He was planning to attack the circus? And she'd provided him an easy hostage, wondering away from the safety of the grounds. The girl was mentally screaming over her own stupidity as she was forced into the forest. Losing sight of the pair of boys, she heard the stranger issued his commands to the pair, and Kioko's stomach twisted. Determined to do something, the pyro concentrated, trying to draw forth at least a small amount of flame. Hopefully, the stranger would be surprised enough to drop his control over her, even if it only lasted a few seconds. After a few moments, Kioko realized with despair that the warm tingling that signaled the appearence of flames refused to manifest. Darnit, why now, when she actually needed to use her power, did it refuse to cooperate? Her feelings of helplessness were compounded as her captor seized her hair, forcing her to continue walking into the forest. The pain, combined with the knowledge that she couldn't even fight back at this point, caused fresh tears to form in her crimson eyes. A flutter of lilac caught her attention, and Kioko realized with distress Miyuki had followed her into the woods. Unable to scream as the small insect was swatted out of the air, she instead switched her tear filled glare to the offender, not caring about the threats he had just made against her own safety.
Dravius grinned at Maya as he came up to the food van, arm linked through the handle of the black picnic basket. The black and green-checked blanket was dangling out of the top of the basket, and he jumped slightly when the caw was heard, drawing his attention to the roof, and the large bird hunched there. He ducked as the bird flew overhead. Those things had always givien him the creeps, especially the ones that could talk. Ugh. He shivered slightly, taking the paper from Maya, and looking rather suspiciously at the furled paper, un rolling it and scanning the contents. They were decidedly unfortunate. Dravius snarled loudly and dropped the basket and blanket, looking rather furious. "Stay here." He said tersly, looking back for a second, then storming off, an ugly ex pression residing on his face. The woods were quite a bit away, but still it didn't take Dravius long to get there at a flat out sprint, breathing strangly even when he stopped at the edge of the town for someone who had been running quite a ways. He looked into the trees, trying to pick out any shapes among them. He remebered Vayne quite well, sneaky little git. Hated him. He snarled almost involuntarily, then continued onwards into the woods, stopping short when he caught sight of said sneaky little git. "What' dyou want?" He asked, face dark and rather brooding. "Why'd you take Kioko?" He growled after another moment, panting lightly. ----------------- Both boys were bored out of their skulls now that there was nothing more to destroy in this particular van, so they nosed out of the front door this time, confident of the abscence of the dark one. Noh sneezed, nose still ichy after the strong smell of cut plants. Both stiffened as the dark one stormed past, although he payed absolutely no attention to them, going to see the one from memory, apparently. The huffed a little more across the ground, Noh catching scent of marple and paper, which was unexpectedly delicious. Yehs shoved his brother towards the source of the scent, actually drooling more heavily now. After a minute or two of investigation, both brothers caught sight of a very pretty young woman, who smelt unimagineably delicious. Yehs began panting harder, sitting down in front of Noh, both fixing their green eyes on Maya. They had an uncanny resemblence to Dravius, and neither looked overly malicious, just staring at the girl with the butterfly wings with heads tilted, sitting in the same manner as a dog would, unblinking. ((Gonna edit with Yehs n' Noh.))
Having absoloutely no idea at all what resided on the peice of paper that she'd handed to Dravius, Maya wasn't entirely sure what sort of a reaction she expected. Probably just a confused sort of look, one she was very likely showing herself at the moment. What she certainly hadn't expected was the snarl, and the sound made her jump a little.
"What?" She asked quickly. "What is it?" Her question, of course, wasn't answered before the Co-Master took his leave, striding off and leaving the basket laid haphazardly on the ground. Frowning at his retreating back, the young woman took a step forward, picking up the basket and the blanket inside before setting it down just outside the food van. She considered heading inside, then decided she didn't really need to. Surely Dravius wouldn't be gone that long... Though she really wasn't willing to as.sume. Random notes we're one thing... Random notes addressed that particular young man were probably a lot more significant... Considering his past and all the rest of it. It could have been a hoax... Or maybe just a member telling him that something in the Circus needed sorting... Still. She couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of foreboding.
Letting out a huff of breath, Maya leant her head lightly against the food van wall, spending a good few minutes simply doing nothing before choosing to walk to her own van. There was no particular need for her heading there, though she never actually reached her destination before bumping into two... Beings, she'd never seen before. The young woman was usually rather good with placing faces, most of the older members were, though she didn't recognise either of these two. Well... Besides their resemblance to a certain someone, and for some reason that created a cold shiver down her spine.
She didn't like this already. There was an entire air here she recognised all two well, and it most certianly was not safe. That much Maya could sense. Taking a slow and delibrate step back, the girl delibrately placed herself in a position that meant she could lift her wings a little. Just in case, though she made no effort to actually move.
Running, or even walking, might provoke some sort of animalistic reaction, and that she didn't particularly want. Besides, she was unconsciously watching the drooling kid more so than the other, wanting to keep her eyes firmly on him in case. The hissing contact that fluid produced was clearly dangerous, and Maya took a second step away from the two, brows furrowed and her ex pression severely concerned. She really did not like this.
~~~
Oh. Poor little hostage. Perhaps she had some guts after all.
Vayne could only laugh a little at the girl's blatant glare. "Deary me. All that for a bug?... They're merely pests, you know. Despite how pretty they might look." The tall male glanced at the struggling butterfly, then shrugged, choosing to clamber into a nearby tree and get himself comfortable; Keeping his hold firmly over Kioko.
He'd allowed the raven free reign not long ago, keeping the control only to deliver his message. Wolfe was likely already on his way. Of course, it was no sooner he'd thought this than an angry voice cuased him to glance down. Aha. Clearly, he'd not been entirely forgotten.
"Well well..." Vyane shifted, so that he sat cross legged on the high tree bough, smiling in a sinister fashion. "And here I thought you'd never remember me. I'm rather honoured." He grinned slightly, then waved a hand in dismissal. "Straight to the point, as always... I wanted to talk to you, if you must know... And I needed you out of that Circus to do it. Little... Kioko, you called her?... She provided my means for getting you out here."
He paused, then laughed. The sound was cold, cruel and calculating. "It's actually rather a serious matter, and there's absoloutely no rush for us to discuss it... Oh." He snapped his fingers, ex pression becoming fleetingly surprised, as though he'd only just remembered something of importance. "I also suggest you don't rush into anything... I still have the girl in my control. She might do something... Reckless, if you choose to bare your fangs at me."
Vayne smiled innocently, clearly enjoying the entire scenerio. "You know..." He continued. "I'm rather surprised. It was never in your nature to care so much for-" He glanced at Kioko. "-Others. In fact, you were always very much on your own. Even with Master Break teaching you. Whatever happened?... You were always his... Greatest creation. Little Wolfe could no wrong." The male's face twisted a little, reflecting Dravius' dark look with a curled sneer. "Dissappeared one day... Never heard from again... Master never told us why. Didn't think it was important. And now, years later. I find poor Master's body left behind in some stinking alley, his number one servant's scent prominent... And you galavanting around with the Circus."
"So. Why don't we start right there." Vayne grinned, though the ex pression was nothing but cold and hard. He manipulated Kioko's form to create an absoloutely perfect flame within the palm of her right hand, holding the limb towards Dravius. "Explain..." He murmered flatly. "Or little Kioko here might just end up hating you enough to do some serious burn damage to that body of yours."

Nylat had been calmly chewing on the wooden bough, and had chewed off the thicker half, when she caught one of the worst smells she'd ever smelled, besides festering meat. Se growled, leaving the wood where it was as she got up. She knew the scents of the Circus and this was not one of them. She followed the scent--it was impossible to lose--and found two beings that she thought were human, aside from the acid dripping from one's mouth, both facing Maya, and too distracted by her to notice the hybrid. She growled deeply, baring her teeth and lowering her head threateningly. Her ears were flat and her eyes glimmered with her protective instinct. Too much had happened recently for her to let this go by. She flicked her tail, watching the two creatures carefully, incase they decided to attack her. But they seemed bound together by a rope, and Nylat figured that, if it did come to a fight, that might be her advantage. There were, essentially, still one opponent. ((Will post for Kanec tomorrow if I go to school. Sneaking on now. >.>))
