((OmgZyanoyes<3 Ny needs him. Like, naow. You should increase the limit, bring 'im in, and have him find Nylat. ;D))

Kanec, nodding, closed his eyes, concentrating on what Raphael had told him. Unicorn with wings. Feeling soft gr*censored* beneath hooves, he opened his eyes and nearly died of frustration. Granted, he'd shifted into a unicorn with wongs--but they were scaly wings, like a dragon's.
"Great. Never can shift as I want when I want. Oh well."
He lowered himself so Disera could access his back easier, and wondered how in the world he was to convince Nylat to listen to him, let alone get her to cme back. When the hybrid had her mind set, it was hard to change.

~~

Nylat, meanwhile, had managed, somehow, to get herself in a tree, her eyes drifting shut. She was still angry--fuming, still, and her foot hurt more, but she had to live with it. The last of her strength, put into breaking that branch, had finally affected her, and weariness had hit her. She doubted anyone would find her. There was good leaf cover, and she was hard to see from the ground unless you were watching the trees with purpose...

She'd only rest a bit. Then she'd be on her way. Just...a few...minutes....

((I made a mistake in the last post. Scars--Right side. Hurt foot/leg--left foreleg))

Dravius looked only mildly surprised at Kioko's harsh words, standing to let the injured girl pa.ss, and said softly, "Try and stay off that ankle," Sitting back down in the far corner, across and to the left of Maya, returning to his previous position, but his time gently beating the back of his head on the smooth wood of the van, a hollow thudding resounding through the dwelling, before he got up and crossed to a small table, reaching into his pocket and drawing out a small, clear bottle made of glas.s, and set it down, saying softly, "This helps with stuff like headaches, or torn muscles," Opening the door, the boy slipped outside, breathing in the crisp, clean air.

Ignoring the thuds coming from the wagon next to his, which happened to be Beron's, Dravius lifted himself up to the roof of his van, lying on his stomach. The co-master let his oozing lower arms hang over the dark edge of the roof. Sighing slightly, he reached an arm inside the skylight and flipped the switch that controlled the nails on his wagon up and down, rising a fwe inches on a forest of pointy metal.

Leaving the nails up, Dravius sat back on his knees, feeling the rush of tingling invading his shins. Paying it no mind, he got to his feet, bouncing slightly on the balls of his feet. Sitting back down again, the co-master lay on his back, lying delicately on the rusted nails. Getting up and shaking his head swiftly, he hopped swiftly off, landing lightly inside his wagon. Coughing, Dravius sat on his bed and pulled his blanket over his head, going through the conents of his deep pockets, and adding a few more vials of painkillers.

"Never bring that horrid drink here again."

"It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

((Rules updated. ;D Go read 'em. Dunno about bringing Zyano in yet though. >.< If at all. He actually goes against one of my rules. lol. o-o

And Zomby, characters are always free to come and go. :3 Maya still might go yet. She's getting pretty close, anyway.))

Stretching, Raphael looked somewhat disconsolently out of one of the windows of his van, watching the rising sun with little to no interest as he lay on his bed, arms crossed behind his head. His ex
pression was unreadable, but he let loose a quiet sigh that clearly indicated he was still somewhat concerned. What Kioko had told him last night had not calmed his worries regarding Maya. Clearly, there seemed to be no improvement, if anything, it was getting worse. Raphael was seriously beginning to doubt whether or not he'd see Maya again. That is, the one who existed before this whole damn arc took place.

He had attempted last night, for a good hour, to prise Maya from her van, only to be met with a swift and very blunt suggestion to leave her alone, followed by silence. He didn't want to leave her in there. Julian had suggested leaving her, and Raphael, naturally, had declined. He'd left Dravius alone 8 months ago, and look how that turned out. No. He couldn't make that mistake again.

The Ring-Master sighed again, then forced himself into a sitting position before standing up and walking to the van door. He slipped outside, waving quickly and somewhat distractedly at the members already milling about, including Julian, who stood by his own van looking bored. The sun was pale, and the weather warm and calm. It was looking to be another, rather pleasant day.

Raphael made his way through the grounds swiftly, not really having much of an aim, his mind lost in thought. It was Dravius's van, with the nails up, that caught his attention and caused him to raise an eyebrow. He strolled over, knocking on the nail-free section of door and calling. "Dravius, you alright?... Get out here," He crossed his arms and glanced off towards the ocean, his face impas.sive.

~~~
Another sleepless night. She should have expected it, really. Maya frowned slightly, having not moved from her position on the chair in the slightest. She laid on her back, both legs crossed over a chair arm, her own arms over her torso. The vial of painkiller Dravius had left last night had remained untouched, not that Maya had really paid attention to him. The cushion over her head had prevented her really hearing whatver he had said. Whatever, she supposed
She rolled onto her side, her mind lost in morbid thoughts. It wasn't worth loving Dravius. That was one conclusion she'd come to. All this pain for nothing, essentially, and she had no way of stopping it. She had, literally, battled with her own mind all night, trying to  convince herself last nights general plan was a good one.
The further she got away from here, the better. Maya pushed herself up, sitting with her legs crossed on the chair and holding her hands over her face. She wouldn't get far with this much energy... She'd probably have to wait. Not a good idea.
With a quiet whimper, the girl laid on her side again, crossing her arms on one arm of the chair and burying her face.. Later. She'd go later. Maybe. As soon as she felt she'd be able to handle it.
Nylat glared at the door to her van, her head laying on the floor of her dwelling and her paws tucked under her. She still lay in her pile of blanket and cloth scraps she claimed as a bed. She was refusing to come out. How Kanec had even managed to find her was one thing. Convincing her to return was another. She barely remembered him talking to her. He'd probably dragged her back, despite any objections. Her foreleg still pained her. She'd told no one, and hadn't let it show. And she wasn't about to.
Shifting slightly to let her weight rest on her left side, she growled to herself, a deep, threatening growl that echoed off of the now-empty walls. She'd taken down her pelts. She often did so, to rearrange them, but this time, she didn't finish the task. The hybrid had found it too frustrating, really. Each pelt had a backstory, and each story, she could remember, and many had to do with Kanec. Especially the one rabbit pelt she'd set aside, stained with her own blood. It reminded her of Jevak, and she wanted to burn the pelt. But she couldn't bring herself to detroy any pelt.  Even one like that.
Flicking her tail, she debated on going to see Maya, but instantly rejected that thought.
No. She didn't want to see me yesterday, who says she would now?
But, she didn't really blame the girl. It had been a hard week. Nylat really had no room to be mad at her. She was doing the same, locking herself in her van to be antisocial. She tried convincing herself it was for their safety. An angry Nylat was not a safe one, but...
Sighing, she lifted her head from the floor, and pushed herself from the floor, struggling somewhat with the effort. Despite a partial night's sleep, she was still tired. Kanec, being the butt he was, had made her walk back to the Circus. And probably took a longer route, at that.
She limped over to the door and, steeling herself against the pain in her foreleg, opened the door, blinking against the sunlight that met her, but continuing anyways, leaving the door open. She didn't trust herself to close it. Shaking her head and setting her ears back, she continued on, stopping at Maya's van, after taking a longer-than-needed route to procrastinate.
Instead of knocking, or calling a greeting, she merely just roughly laid her head on the door, enough to make a thud. She needed it more for the stability and support. Closing her eyes, she sighed, and called softly.
"Maya?"
Disera lifted herself off the cot, moving carefully because of her wings.  Standing, the shifter looked over to the other bed and sighed unhappily.  From underneath the pile of blankets, a strand of white hair peeked out, attached to the small pyro who had spent the night there.  Carefully padding across the van floor on her barefeet, Disera opened the door and stepped outside, making sure not to wake up the teen.
She immediately spotted Selvai camped out in front of the van, having created a makeshift pallet out of spare blankets.  The blue skinned shifter stopped beside him, raising an eyebrow at the magician.  "You do realize I was joking when I told you to sleep outside last night, right?  You could have made a bed on the floor and slept inside with us."
"Of course."  He lifted one of the blankets, shaking the dirt and sand from it before beginning to fold it.  "But I thought Kioko might be uncomfortable with a grown man sleeping in the same room with her."  Selvai finished with the last blanket and stacked them on the steps of the van.  "How is she?" he asked, gesturing toward the van.  "She seemed out of sorts last night."
The shifter sighed again.  "Poor kid is still sleeping.  Not that anybody would blame her for being exhausted."  Disera took a seat on the pile of blankets.  "First she sprains her ankle, then this crap with Maya and Dravius causes her to lose her cool, and after that she uses up her strength burning down half the forest."  Disera shook her head.  "Good thing Raphael found her and helped her back to camp.  From the way she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow, I'd say she was completely worn out."
"Hmm."  Selvai leaned against the van, crossing his arms in front of his chest.  "It seems using her ability takes alot of endurance.  Combined with her worry for everyone else, it must be very taxing on her."
Disera flicked the tips of her tails absently.  "If someone could just get Maya out of her depression, I think it would cheer Kioko up quite a bit.  The little firebug is really attached to the butterfly."  She looked sideways at the magician.  "Any ideas as to how we could help Maya?"
Selvai slid down until he was crouching beside her, propping his elbows on his knees.  "Unfortunately, no.  It seems she's pining away for Dravius.  I think the only person who could make this right would be him."
The shifter scowled at his words.  "Good luck with that.  Kioko as much as told him last night, and it didn't do any good.  Maya's going to be in this funk forever if we rely on him."
"Perhaps we could speak to Dravius again?" Selvai ventured uncertainly.
"Or.  OR!"  Disera brightened, eyes shining mischievously.  "We could try a different approach."
"Such as?"  the sorceror asked cautiously.  Disera seemed far too excited about this.
"Jealousy."  The shifter stated succinctly.
"...What?"
"If Dravius thinks he's going to lose Maya to someone else, he'll be desperate enough to finally confess how he feels to her.  And then Maya will finally be happy again."
Selvai looked at the shifter for a long, long moment before responding.  "You've been reading those cheap romance novels again."  It wasn't a question.
"They aren't cheap.  And besides, nothing else has worked so far.  We may as well try this."
"We?"  the magician questioned.
"Of course.  I'm not qualified to do it, since I'm female.  And besides, you didn't have any ideas."
Selvai dropped his head into his hands.  "This plan won't work.  There are a thousand things that could go wrong, and besides, I honestly don't think Maya will go along with it anyway.  And you're going on the as.sumption that Dravius has romantic feelings for Maya.  Perhaps he only sees her as a good friend."
"That's why we're not telling her.  Better if she doesn't know.  She has enough to deal with right now.  And as for Dravius, no one knows how he feels, because the stupid boy won't talk to Maya about it.  That's why we're doing this."
The magician raised his head, glaring at her.  "You expect me to seduce her just on the off chance this insane scheme would work?  Do you have any consideration for her feelings?  I will not just play with her emotions like that."  He expected some sort of retort in reply, but was thoroughly confused when the shifter burst into laughter.  "I fail to see any humor in this, Disera."
"Not that-bwaha!- it's you! Haha!  Saying something like "seduce"!  HAHAHA!!"
"Glad you find it amusing," he deapanned.
The shifter descending into a fit of giggles, finally managing to speak again.  "Seduce.  Ha.  You, seduce someone.  No, I mean, just get close to her.  Be her 'good friend'.  If Dravius feels he's being replaced, he'll have to act, right?"
Selvai sighed in defeat.  "I doubt you'll let me say no to all this, anyway.  So, how do you suppose I go about doing this?  Maya has secluded herself in her van, I doubt she'll want to see anyone, especially someone who she's only known a short while."
"Hmm."  Disera sobered a bit at this, thinking a moment.  "That's a good point.  She is acting like a hermit crab right now.  Maybe, just go knock on her door?  Ask if she needs someone to talk to?  She may just need a friendly ear right now."
The magician shook his head, but stood up anyway.  "I doubt this will work.  But, as you've said, nothing else had helped her."  He strode away from their van, heading toward the butterfly's residence.
"Good luck."  Disera called out behind him.
Sighting Maya's van, he was surprised to see Nylat aready there, her head against the door.  "Good morning, Nylat,"  he greeted the hybrid.  Selvai frowned at her position.  "I take it Maya isn't allowing anyone inside."  The magician shook his head, but knocked anyway.  "Maya?  It's Selvai."  He stopped a moment, carefully composing his next words.  "I realize that you don't want company right now.  Normally, I would respect your wishes and not bother you.  But, this is getting serious.  I don't want to put anymore pressure on you, but I believe you should speak to someone, before you become even more despondent than you already are."
The sorceror leaned his head against the door like Nylat, swallowing nervously before he continued speaking.  "Seeing you like this... It disturbs me.  I don't want you to be unhappy."
((No. Ny does not approve. D<))
Nylat nearly gave a start when Selvai seemed to appear out of thin air. That's what she got for not paying attention. She flicked her tail in answer to his greeting, and in response to his question, she raised her head, and stood straight, despite the pain that seemed to slice her in half.
"As for that, I wouldn't know. But I'll break down this door if the need arises."
She listened carefully to Selvai's words and raised an eyebrow at him. In the short while she'd known him, she'd learned his personality. And this was not it. It was odd. she'd have to keep a close eye on him. Maybe get some help in doing so.
Glancing up, she flicked her tail and crouched, before leaping and scrambling to the top of the van, flopping down. Now her side ached too. She hadn't been able to jump like that in a while, not since she'd first gotten the scars. She glared at Selvai, her blue eyes hard and unforgiving.
"I'm watching you, magician. Never doubt that."
[[firstly; random thought. lol, "no fairies" rule.  get out, Zinc. D:<
also, Disera's "I'm not qualified to do it, since I'm female." foolishness.
Lastly; free in the sense my characters need to throw a tantrum and kill half the circus before they're allowed to leave. XD hah hah. No but really I don't mind.
Also meet Evan; Always on time.]]
“Oh Mercy, what the Tartarus.” Zinc said. He of course had to overhear Disera and Selvai's conversation. Less overhearing and more purposeful eavesdropping, as he had been sitting nearby and gaily skipped over at the start of conversation. But what would he be doing otherwise? Oh, right, guarding his door. Seven hours of THAT was enough. He managed to look quite haggard, and his usually vibrant hair was a much duller pink than usually. It almost wasn't pink at all. This was probably because Zinc adored the dramatics.
“Uh, I can't help but think that plan is going to backfire horribly if it ever got into the hands of one who might use this information as blackmail later on. Probably break Maya's heart even more if she knew people were scheming to pretend to be her “good friend” to make her feel better. Tch, awful. Also, Dravius could have it hammered directly into his brain and he would still NOT GET IT. He's Osmium in human form.” Zinc looked up for a moment, listening to what sounded like Yama trying to sneak out of his van and getting tackled to the ground by Spider. He couldn't say for sure, though, with his hearing and all. It could have been a seagull nose-diving into the sand, for all he knew.
“So anyway,” Zinc said, to know one in particular. Really the only one he could be talking to was Disera, but a few others were wandering around outside. “Did any of you see that fit half of the residence of this place threw over Yama? Yeah? Who wants to trying seducing her? It's only fair we put just as much effort into her as Maya. Don't you think? Sure, she might rip off your head and beat your neighbor to death with your limp body, but really, they DID make a big deal over it. Since you all wuv her so much cuz she's faaaaaamwyyy.”
Zinc tapped his forehead with his finger and nodded. If they didn't, he had no choice but to tell Sh'Yama they were all gigantic fakers who wanted to put on a show to just Hurt Her Feelings because they were Jerks. “On a slightly unrelated note, next time he needs to sleep outside, just send him over to my- our van. Outside? Really? I have plenty of room. In all seriousness. I'm in the closet, Spider's on the ceiling. There are two unused bunks in there. It's crazy.”
 - - -
Sh'Yama was shaking sand out of her boots and growling at people who dared try to speak to her. She was sitting on the sand in front of Spider's van, and Spider was sitting next to her. His disposition was just as growly this morning. “You know you should just take them up on their offer,” Spider was saying, “You warned them. If bad people like you said came here and hurt people, it wouldn't be your fault. You should stay. Just because I'm here.”
“It would still be my fault.” Yama said, her voice a bit more thick than usual.
“Maybe I should go. And you stay. That way you still get what you want. Away from me.”
Sh'Yama looked up at him with a barely suppressed sigh, which was one of rage and sadness. “Spider...” she began, but Spider put his hands over his ears and mouthed “I'm not listening”.
That's one thing they did have in common. Stubbornness. But that might just be the human element.
“I might come back.” Sh'Yama said. “But I can't find things out here. I need to go speak with some of our... relatives.” she continued, frowning and rubbing some dirt off of her sungla.sses. She leaned over and put them on Spider. “A gift.” She said, getting to her feet. With a grumbling sigh, she ran a hand through her dark hair and looked down at her cloak, still folded on the van's step. “And give that to the little one.” She said, finally, and pulled her bag up and over her shoulder.
A little whining voice told her not to leave, and Sh'Yama recognized it as one of those snot-noses from the other day. Sh'Yama threatened to murder his loved ones and tossed a rock in his direction. Then she looked back at Spider. Or would have, but he was no longer sitting outside the van. Her lips were a thin line, and her brows narrowed into a frown. Without further hesitation she turned and walked away, heading for where there were trees and rocks.
- - -
Spider wandered into the water, stopped when it was up to his knees, and then slowly started to drop pebbles one by one into the waves. He hadn't bothered to roll up his pants, and he was probably going to regret it later when he was walking back to his van and getting sand crusted to his person.
The water was not scary. Not right now. All it was was cold. He hoped he would get eaten by a shark. That would be nice. Boots wouldn't work, but a shark surely would. What did sharks find appetizing? Spider shook the last of the pebbles and sand from his hands and looked down into the water. Why did people like swimming? And more importantly, why did they have to make his sister go away? He never got anything. Nothing at all. There wasn't a point to existing when you just lose things and hate what you've got. Spider didn't really like existing. Which brought up more questions, like, why did he have to, and who's bright idea was it, anyway?
He sighed and leaned forward, grabbing a few colorful rocks off the sandy floor and looking at them close in his hands. They looked better underwater. Spider put his hands back under the water and stared at the rocks with the intensity of a head surgeon during a heart transplant. One was a soft and round blue pebble, the other a rectangular dark purple. He sniffed, and shivered. It was a little chilly this morning.
Spider wondered where Zinc was, and considered going to find him and showing him his rocks, but decided he'd rather stay out here for a little bit. Wait for that shark. Besides, the rocks looked better in the water. They kept his mind off his stupid sister and everyone else who was stupid.
 - - -
Yama trooped over a hill without incident, and then bumped right into someone. It was definitely not her fault. He had not been there before.
“Oh my, that was a bit of a miscalculation on my part, my sincerest apologies, my dear.”  And there was a short blonde man backing away from her, a faint blush on his face. Bumping into Yama at that height resulted in awkward situations. And usually someone loosing an arm.  The man readjusted his vest, and looked quite apologetic. Yama didn't recognize him, and realized she was without her sungla.sses, which made the situation dire.
Explaining she had a strange and outlandish eye condition only made a few people stop asking questions. The fellow pushed his spectacles back up his nose and smiled up at Sh'Yama, and it was a quite nice smile, she supposed. “You're definitely the one. And they don't know what they're saying, you're quite a handsome woman, if I may say so.” He said, and offered his hand. “Evan Daudet. Former Blodwen.” He introduced.
Sh'Yama did not shake the offered hand. Evan looked a little upset about this, and put his hand to his pocket and started to fiddle with is pocket watch chain.
“You are, I expect, Miss Sh'Yama Blodwen, correct? Now, no need for such a look, my dear. I've heard a bit about your shenanigans. Never quite liked 'Carlene much, always a bit too into messing with the natural order. But nobody listens to batty old Evan,” He trailed off, huffing and mentally kicking himself. “Right. I came to tell you, since no one else seems to care, that Carly was looking for you.”
Sh'Yama stared at him blankly. Carly? Carlene?
Evan must have noticed her blank look, and bopped himself lightly on the head. “Of course, of course! What year is it? Xucarlene. Oh, he had that name taken from him, hadn't he? Just Laurence, then? Sorry about that, dear. Still imagining him knee high to a kitten.” Evan got a vaugely dazed look on his face, and then looked at Yama as if he were seeing her for the first time. “What was I―? Oh, yes! So Laurence is looking for you, and you know how he is, I'm sure. A bit too fond of guns, in my personal opinion.”
“Thank you for the information, but I was already leaving.” Sh'Yama said, evenly.
“Is that right?” Evan asked, looking a bit disappointed. He had been looking forward to looking at the circus. A whole bunch of them, all together? How fascinating! What wondrous people they all must be! “Would little Boris still be there? Last time I saw him was... roughly four hours ago. Probably been much longer for him. Has he learned to read yet?” Evan stepped around Yama and tried to stand on tip-toe to get a look at the circus, but failed miserably.
“I... yes he... he might be. I would hope so.  Who did you say you were again?” Sh'Yama was a bit agitated by this strange little fellow with the goatee. Weren't goatee's usually a sign of evil?
“Splendid! Would it be alright if I moseyed down there and said hello? You're already on your way... well, I'll keep an eye out, see you soon.” Evan said, and was gone.
Sh'Yama had been mumbling a “wait” which turned into a slight yelp of surprise. Where did he—? He was just gone.  Yama stood alone at the bottom of the hill and rubbed her eyes. Maybe she should go back after all.
 - - -
It took forever to find Spider. Little more than a few seconds went by for everyone else, but Evan had been running around the encampment for about 45 minutes now. Evan materialized on the beach and flicked the lid of his pocket watch shut. Phew, what a productive day so far. “Hello there, Boris!” He said, cheerfully, standing just at the edge of the water― he didn't want to get his sneakers wet ―and waved.
Spider ignored him, whether on purpose or because he was still too interested in his rocks was a mystery. “... nice to see you, too.” Evan said, deflating impressively.
((I don't think anyone dislikes your post, Kioko. xD Pfft. It made me laugh. And lol, Nylat. o-o))
Soon. That's what she kept telling herself. She'd go soon. Maya knew it probably wouldn't be that easy though, not in the slightest, and it didn't help that she was finding it hard to get enough motivation to move. Maybe eventually was a better term. Soon was proving hard to keep to.
Sighing through her nose, the butterfly shifted so that she once again lay on her back, her head resting on the arm the chair she resided in. She folded her arms over her torso, both legs bent at the knee. This was stupid. As much as Maya wanted to be on her own, she thrived on social interaction. She knew full well she was doing herself damage this way, keeping herself isolated, but she still blatantly refused to face anyone, her mind too occupied with pointless and self-torturing thoughts. She didn't have the energy, nor the will to move from where she was. She wasn't going to give in simply because she became bored of sitting in here, nor because she missed the Circus bustle and the people she so often spoke to. It could all go on very well without her.
She rolled onto her side again so that she faced the door of her van, keeping her legs and arms in their previous positions, her mind struggling to pull away from those thoughts. Leaving. It was a scary proposition, that much was certain, but Maya was quickly running out of options. It was either that, or staying in here... Trying to forget was another option, though one that no longer existed. Maya couldn't forget. It just wasn't that easy.
With a quiet and distraught groan, Maya lifted an arm and dropped it over her eyes, which were beginning to water with burden of bearing these thoughts. She felt so torn. Even the gentle comforts of her fluttering insects was quickly wearing thin. She needed out, or she was going to go mad in here... But she was completely unsure of whether or not she'd be able to tear herself out of this situation. It was becoming a struggle to simply think.
At the quiet thud on her door, Maya moved her arm quickly, ensuring it wiped her eyes before she let it lay in front of her torso. It was Nylat, and in any other situation, the blonde teen would have been hit by a dreadful guilt for the way she spoke to the hybrid yesterday. Currently, however, she could only wallow in the fact that this was why she couldn't stay in her van. People. They all knew where to find her, and that wasn't a good thing.
Maya had been on the verge of replying when another voice joined that one, and the butterfly blinked in surprise, her pain momentarily forgotten. Selvai?... What did Selvai want?... She barely managed to listen to him before her mind returned to it's endless search for a solution to her current problem. Speaking to someone, he'd said... What would that do?... She doubted speaking of anything would help. It seemed pointless.
"I'm sorry, Selvai. I'm really not in the mood," Forcing herself to shift again so that her back was to the door, Maya stared into the back of the chair for a moment, before pushing herself up into a sitting position. She couldn't do this. She really needed to just... Get out, if only for a while. Having so many come to her door was making her feel cornered. She hated that feeling. Biting back an irrational fear, the butterfly stood from her chair, using a hand to support her as she moved. She hadn't realised she felt so weak. She knew she wouldn't get too far like this, but she was becoming desperate.
It took only a few minutes for her to find her cloak, which she folded under an arm. It would be far too warm to wear the thing now. She inhaled slowly and opened the door, pausing momentarily to get her footing before she fell, and ensuring she didn't walk into Selvai. She managed, with a few unsteady steps, to the navigate the stairs without incident.
"Excuse me," She murmered quietly, looking off in the general direction that led away from the vans and the beach. Well, that would seem to be the best route, and despite Maya's initial worry of now knowing how far she'd get, started walking. This, right now, was her only choice. She needed to get away from her van, in the very least. Sure, she may not have thought this through, but she simply wanted out. That was all.
Dravius had spent nearly the entire night staring at the opposite wall of his van with his knees to his chin, wrapping his long toes around the points of the raised nails. Jumping hugely when the knock on his door sounded, he shook his head and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands, blinking hard as he stood, holding a heavy, dark comforter to his lip, which had been bleeding heavily for an hour or so.
As Dravius walked to the door, he looked down at his still oozing arms, and shoved them inside the blanket, still holding the corner of it to his lip, which he had been chewing on for hours at a time. Dravius had watched the moon through the skylight of his van, counting the constellations a thousand times. Well, not really, but definitely many times.
Arriving at the door, Dravius hesitantly slid the large bolt from the locked door and opened it slowly. In the light that slithered into the dark dwelling, Dravius looked gaunt, with deep shadows ringing his eyes. The co-master slid the nails down, himself sinking an inch or so with the loss of the nails. He didn't look overjoyed to see his old friend, as the door opened wider, and he stepped out, his comforter still pressed to his face and draped across his thin shoulders.
"Hmm?" Was the muffled reply to Raphael, issuing through the wet material over Dravius's face. Taking it away breifly, the co-master tilted his head, every few seconds bringing the cloth back to rub the flow of red, and sighing, said, "I'm fine. What's up?" Coughing quietly, Dravius drew his arms closer to his body, darkened red splotches discolouring the bright green of his sleeves. "Do you need something?" He tilted his head again, squinting slightly in the warm sunlight, rubbing his lip on his heavy blanket.
It seemed to be a nice day, although only a few circus members were up and about. The circus as a whole tended to sleep late, especially seeing that their shows were usually late at night, burning midnight oil to light the rings. Dravius himself was a late riser, if he went to sleep at all. A breeze played with his white hair, flicking it around his face, as he sighed again and twisted his neck to and fro, producing a series of cracks.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again."
Raphael had been looking at the nails coating Dravius's van with a slight frown, when movement of the door caused him to bring his glance away from the pointed metal. He raised his eyebrows at his Co-Master dishrivelled appearance, then rolled his eyes. The kid was unbelievable.
"Oh, nice to see you too," He said, noting Dravius's less than enthusiastic ex
pression on seeing him for the first time that day.
Raphael glanced between the white haired boy, the previously nail studded van, and the bleeding lip, his ex
pression unreadable. "Uh-hu," He said, crossing his arms and levelling a severe gaze at the younger male. "You should know by now lying with me doesn't work," He continued, looking the kid over. "And dont even think about saying your not," He gestured towards the van.
"You haven't had those nails up since you finally emerged from your 8 month period of solitary confinement, you look, essentially, like you've had no sleep, which is actually a big giveaway somethings bothering you, seeing as you rarely sleep, and-" The blonde raised an eyebrow, speaking actually rather fast. "You don't tend to cause injuries to yourself unless your performing or agitated, considering the lack of shows this week, I'd as.sume its the latter,"
The illusionist uncrossed his arms and rubbed a temple, the eye on that side of his face closed, the other boring into Dravius. "I want to know what's bothering you, and don't bother trying to worm your way around an answer, I have ways of keeping you here if need be," Almost as though to emphasise his point, Raphael plonked his body on the steps outside Dravius's door, whistling a merry little tune to himself, before saying, "Oh, and by the way. You might want to see to that injury of yours later, and probably get something to chew on as a replacement. Your going to do some serious damage to that lip if you carry on,". He eventually looked back up at the Co-Master.
"Well?... I'd really prefer if you told me, you know. It might help. And I've had just about enough of my members suffer this week,"
[[I need to express my intentions and emotions clearly, since, uh... I apparently sounded angry? That was a comment of joking importance. My current mood: neutral, slightly irritated at events unrelated to Res. Full. I am eating pizza.]]
Evan might had stood there a moment longer, but time was of the essence! "Boris, dear boy, please come over here. I'd like to get a good look at you and see how things are going on. A Circus. My my, you wouldn't catch a Blodwen living in one of these unless he was stone dead." He seemed absolutely glad about this, however, and was positively exuberant over the fact they all already considered him dead to the family, anyway. Too bad they weren't playing any shows at the moment...
Spider finally looked up, looking very confused. He clasped the rocks in his hand and splashed back up to the beach. He wanted to look up at Evan, but he was a bit to tall. He felt very bad for having to look down at him. "Hullo," Spider said, "You said Boris? Nobody calls me that. Except maybe Xerah. Are you from the family? I don't recognize you." he scrubbed his rocks against his shirt and then put them in his pocket. Evan made a slight "tsk" noise at Spider's wet jeans, and dripping sleeves.
"You're certainly much more talkative than from when I saw you last!" Still a bit daft, though, bless him! "Didn't like talking much... was it six years ago? So poor, my memory. And your hair was much longer. Did they finally cut it for you?" Evan leaned his head to the side and went around Spider. His hair was a bit uneven. Evan knew the answer before Spider could properly explain.
"Well, no, not really." Spider said, brushing his fingers through his hair. "I got a hold of the scissors. They weren't paying very good attention to me that day."
"Hmm. Well, in any case, it is an improvement. Might need to even it out with a nice trim, though." Evan stopped in front of Spider again, and held out his hand. "I am Evangelos Blodwen, and you are Boris Blodwen. So nice to see you again, dearheart. I saw your sister as she left, lovely woman. A good thing too, since Carlene's..."
He paused, searching for the proper word. "Hoolagins," that would have to suffice, "Are surely looking for her. She aught to speak with Xanthe and get some of THAT side of the family on her side. Pity your cousins haven't been able to maintain their status, what with Em and Carlene running about and messing with the natural order." He sighed and waved a hand. Evangelos took a breath and chuckled lightly to himself.
"I'm quite talkative today myself! Pardon my excitement, but I really haven't been to a Circus before. Mayhap a tour once you've cleaned up?" Evan looked so expectant, and so positively beaming about the prospect of a tour that Spider could only say, "Uh... I... suppose." But this seemed to be enough, as Evan clapped a hand on his shoulder, saying "Splendid!" and started leading him back to the vans.
He continued to go on, saying, he was sure he knew which van was his, as it was the only one with webs in the windows, and wasn't that a nice van? Almost too much room for one person! Did he perhaps have space to spare? Spider was a bit startled by Mr. Evans enthusiasm. Everyone he knew (besides Zinc) barely talked at all and either A. Hated this place or B. Were convinced it was just a bad week and would blow over. Spider realized he liked this strange man, and wondered why the rest of his family couldn't be this nice.
Nylat was disappointed when Selvai was answered instead. She whined a bit, and brightened visibly a bit when Maya emerged from her van a short while later, but frowned at her cloak. Surely there was no reason to have it with her. Even if she intended to stay out all day. There was always time to go back for it. Unless... Unless she didn't plan on returning. Whining again, and flicking her ears back, she stood up and crouched, leaping down to the ground, ignoring the pain in her leg, and limped after Maya, not caring if anyone noticed.
"Maya...Maya, where do you intend to go?"
Her voice, really, was pitiful, and she regretted not staying the previous night, as opposed to trying to talk to her friend. Or maybe it was that that was making her leave. Maybe she was a bit overbearing. But, wouldn't Maya have told her?
Letting her ears droop, Nylat kept Maya's pace, hoping she may be able to change her friend's mind. if not...there was plenty to do for her to prepare to leave herself. Before, she'd only stayed because of Maya and the older members. But, if Maya left... The hybrid shook her head, trying to deny it.
~~
Kanec yawned, sitting on top of his van. He'd been to tired last night to even attempt to get inside his van. A new shift was tiring, even without having to use it, burdened. He was still feeling the effects. But that could be left alone.Glancing over, he saw Tara emerging from her own van, and he raised a hand in greeting, to be greeted the same. She seemed to be in a better mood. Maybe Nylat would be, too.
He almost laughed at the thought. Yeah. That was going to happen.
~~
Tara stretched, yawning, in a considerably better mood. She had slept well, not waking up in the middle of the night as she often did, and her arm had yet to pain her in the few hours she'd been up. So far, it was a good day. But from the observing she'd done since she got here, it was not to last. Best enjoy it while it did.
Which got her to thinking. Ever since she'd joined the circus, her arms hadn't hurt her. It was something to ponder, but she left it for later. Continuing on, leaving her laptop in her van, she stretched again, trying to get out a kink between her shoulders.
"You're off the edge of the map, mate. Here there be monsters."
One pointed ear twitched as Disera listened to Zinc's rant.  She should probably just do the sensible thing and ignore the pink haired creature, but his comment about blackmail had her looking over at him.  "Yes, that would be unfortunate, wouldn't it?"  The shifter asked, coming to stand in front of Zinc.  She smiled a bit too widely, showing pointed teeth as she reached up to place her hands on his shoulders.  "It's a good thing no one is going to say anything, isn't it?  Otherwise, things might get ugly around here."  Her fingers tightened on his shoulders as she spoke, sharp nails digging into the dream creature's shirt.  "And the last thing this place needs is more tension.  Right?"  Disera stepped back, giving Zinc some personal space.   The blue skinned shifter crossed her arms over her chest, wings fluttering slightly.
"And seriously, do you really think Selvai's actually going to go through with that stupid scheme?  Knowing him, he's already changed his mind and is just trying to counsel her.  I wouldn't have suggested it to him if I thought he'd try to do it.  I just needed him to go to her.  Hopefully, if those two can get to know each other better, she'll stop being so stuck on Dravius, and realize there are other men in the world."  The shifter sighed before continuing.  "You're right about Dravius, though.  I'd have thought Kioko would have gotten him to act last night, but it seems he's hopeless.  She flat out told him how Maya feels, and the boy still didn't do anything.  So, why keep trying to get those two together?"
Disera raised an eyebrow at the mention of seducing Yama.  "Well, if you think it would help... I suppose we could put a love note in that cloak of hers.  Maybe sign it from Dravius?  He wouldn't feel the beating, after all.  Or better yet, Julian.  He's got the tall, dark and brooding thing going for him."  The shifter leaned her chin on one palm, pasting a thoughtful look on her face as she comtemplated Zinc.  "I bet she'd stay if she thought she had a chance with him.  Of course, if she goes on a murderous rampage, I'm telling her the whole thing was your idea.  You're okay with that, right?"
----------------------------
Rolling over, still mostly asleep, the white haired girl gasped as a jolt of pain raced up from her ankle.  Awakened by the pain, Kioko carefully raised herself up on her elbows, getting into a sitting position on the bed.  She lifted back the blankets to look at her damaged ankle.  Unwrapping the bandage, Kioko grimaced at the sight.  The joint was still swollen, and the bruise had spread slightly, turning a slightly darker color.  The pyro gingerly stood up, testing her ankle.  The pain returned, sharper and much worse than when she had initally sprained it.
She sat back down on the bed, and re-wrapped the bandage Dravius had applied for her last night.  Chewing on her lip, the girl debated what to do.  She needed to stay off her ankle, but the memory of last night was making her stomach hurt.  The look of surprise on Dravius' face before she stormed out of Maya's van was unpleasent.  He'd taken care of her ankle when she could barely walk, and Kioko had repaid him by yelling at him.
The girl pulled on one shoe, her other foot too tender for it's mate, and stood again, making sure not to put any pressure on the injured limb.  She managed to limp to the van door and down the steps.  The pyro spotted Disera and Zinc not far from her, but continued her slow pace toward the Circus Master's residence.
She managed to make it without falling, although there was more than one close call.  Standing outside the van, Kioko looked at the steps wearily, realizing she probably couldn't climb them without falling and hurting herself again.  She settled for balancing on one leg as she quietly called out to white haired boy.   "Mister Dravius?  Can I talk to you?"  The girl nervously bit her lip before continuing.  "I wanted to say I'm sorry about yelling at you last night.  I shouldn't have said what I did."
-----------------------------
Selvai sighed to himself at Maya's reply.  "Of course" he thought to himself.  Preparing to leave Maya's van and Disera's scheme behind him, he heard the door open and turned back, thinking that perhaps the butterfly had changed her mind about speaking to someone.  The magician was unprepared for the girl's exhausted appearence, or her unsteady gait as she walked away from him and Nylat.
He began following after Nylat as she took after Maya, brows drawn together in concern.  Selvai considering calling after Maya, but mentally shook his head.  It was unlikely she'd stop of her own volition, it seemed.  Instead, the sorceror muttered a few incomprehensible syllables, disappearring and reappearring in front of Maya.  "Please, stop and listen to me,"  he told her.
Steady steps. That's all it took. The whole thing was proving much easier than Maya had previously thought, though saying that... It was probably only her single-mindedness that was preventing her from turning back. In all honesty, the butterfly didn't know what to do, and she clearly was not thinking this through. Not once had thoughts regarding her destination and livelihood crossed her mind. She was purely set on escaping the hole she'd dug herself into.
At Nylat's voice, Maya showed absoloutely no recognition, walking at a very steady, and somewhat slow, pace away from the vans. She felt unable to move too much faster, she was likely to collapse if she did that.She did, however, answer the hybrid, her voice strained.
"Mm. Anywhere out of here will do just fine," She murmered, crossing her arms with her cloak caught between them. Her violet gaze fell on the ground in front of her, which had eventually switched from golden sands to a lush, bright green. Not that Maya really paid all that much attention to the change in scenery. Again, that single-mindedness left little for anything else.
Sighing, the butterfly kept her wings low, avoiding unbalancing her already unstable walk, and consciously kept her eyes away from the hybrid following her. Nylat was one of those things likely to get in the way of her wanting to get out of here, and Maya really did not want to be distracted. She wanted out, she didn't want to remain in the van. Naturally, with the butterfly's mind being obviously elsewhere, she barely registered Selvai's sudden change in occupied space, and had barely a second to note he was in front of her before she actually walked into him.
Even that slight impact threw Maya off balance, her exhaustion leaving no energy for her mind to react quick enough, though she did, barely, manage to grasp the magicians arm before she fell on her face. She flared her impressive wings in a spark of stress-born irritation, looking up at the magician through golden strands of hair.
"What?" She asked, leaning on the magician slightly as she struggled to keep herself upright, her face turned back to the unresponding earth. "Mm?"
Dravius shifted from foot to foot, and snapped, "I'm not lying. I'm fine," Leaning against the door to his van, he scuffed his bare, slightly bloody foot on the wooden steps, frowning deeply into the gra.ss. "I just wish I wasn't so stupid," He muttered to the ground, and added, "I'll be fine, really Raphael. Although I do need to fix my lip and-" Dravius cut his scentence short at the arrival of Kioko, widening his eyes and dropping his blanket. "No, no. Come on,"
Lifting the slight girl up again, Dravius carried her into his van, leaving the coverlet behind. "Hold on, Raphael. I'll be right back," Setting Kioko down on his bed, the co-master disappeared into a closet for a minute or two, re-emerging with a ice pack and two rolls of bright white gauze. Pulling a chair up next to the injured girl, Dravius lifted her ankle and gently unrolled the bandaging from around it, and gently pressed the cold ice to Kioko's hurt joint, saying softly, "Don't worry about yelling at me. I probably deserved it."
Leaning back, Dravius pulled his shirt over his head and started wrapping his gouged arms, starting from the tips of his fingers and ending at the top of his shoulders, moving swiftly and repeating it with the other arm. Although the boy's torso was a map of scars, the most noticeable were the four around his heart, and a set of huge claw marks wrapping around his left side. The four matching depressions looked to be from bulleets, and the huge claws from some kind of moster animal, and coughing, the co-master rubbed the claw marks gently, shaking his head boefore moving on.  Dravius also had to wrap his neck, using frogs to secure to white bandages. Sighing through his nose, he contemplated sewing up his lip, but shook his head and leaned back in the chair, leaving two feet off the fround.
"If you don't mind me asking, what'd you do to your ankle?" Dravius asked, slipping on a shirt with black and white striped sleeves, and shook his head away from his face. "Gosh, my hair grows fast," He murmered, looking at the strands hanging in front of his face. Leaning back forewards, the co-master took off the cold pack and wrapped her ankle just off tight enough to hurt. "You have to stay off this, okay?" He said seriously, looking at her through the silver-white hair, as he got up a stretched his arms over his head,
