"Uh... Nothing that hasn't happened before," Maya murmered, smiling somewhat sheepishly at Kioko over her shoulder. "Towns usually harbour the same sort of risks." She bit her lip slightly, then looked over at Nylat's broken window with a small shrug. "And that's not a bad idea," She continued with a smile, referring to the idea of the Pyro and the Hybrid rooming together. It was probably about time Nylat got herself someone to share with. After all, as different as anyone could be here within the Majikus, Nylat was on another level. Maya could only imagine how that must feel, to be different from even those who are clas.sed as "freaks". Had she had a chance, she probably would have shared with Nylat herself... Only she'd have a lot of trouble getting all her things in here with Ny's. Not to mention, the butterflies would probably have trouble adjusting to surroundings such as these. There weren't nearly enough plants in here for a start.

The golden-haired teen smiled to herself, crossing her arms behind her and looking down at Nylat when she heard the Hybrids voice. "Oh." Was Maya's only response to the spoken explanation for the broken window, glancing again at the shattered glas.s that now resided within the frame. Well, that was one way of getting in, though probably not one of the more... Practical, means. Not to mention there was always that risk of cutting yourself open.

The butterfly winced slightly at the thought of injury, pulling her eyes away from the jagged, glinting glas.s to answer Nylat's question. "I was in town." She replied, waving a hand in dismissal as though the subject really wasn't important. "And I would have too." The butterfly, had she not known Nylat any better, would have asked why she didn't go and ask another member to open the door for her. Of course, Maya knew full well that Nylat seemed to have issues with placing herself within the debt of other people. She was very, very independant, so natually... She'd rather find her own way in.

When Kioko moved, Maya watched her as she walked to the window, then made her own way over, following the Pyro's lead and being sure not to step on any of the glas.s shards. She eventually crawled onto one of the beds, crossing her legs and placing her hands gently on her ankles. "There are a few members who do van maintenance. If Julian was around you could ask him... He should be back from distributing flyers... He pas.sed us in town," She bit her lip slightly, then looked at the furs that covered the walls and floor. With a sigh, she slipped from the bed. "I'll go see if I can find him... Or one of the others. Those furs will probably hold that water for days if they get wet."

~~~
"Not much of a long story." Karene replied with a quiet snort. "So he's your brother, huh?" She rested her gaze on Daniel, watching the boy as he ate the cake he'd been given. "He certainly does look like you... Only a smaller and much cuter version. Or he would be, if he didn't look like he'd just escaped the zoo."
She smiled slightly at him, resting one hand on the table and leaning her weight against it. "And of course. I don't think it will be too difficult to get him used to this place. Kids usually seem to do better than the adults." She shrugged one shoulder, listening to Dravius as he addressed the kid, and removing her weight from the table to stand with her arms crossed.
At that moment, the loud rumble of thunder caused Karene to glance out of the closest window, just as Raphael entered the van holding a jacket over his head and looking decidedly pouty. "No luck with the watch," He grumbled, dropping the jacket on a nearby chair and flopping heavily into an open seat next to Dravius. It took a moment for him to realise the Co-Master was there, then he lifted a hand in a half-hearted gesture of greeting. "Nice to see you," He said, closing his eyes for a second. "Where've you been, anyway?" He turned his head slightly in the Co-Masters direction, opening his eyes, only to be distracted by the blonde kid at the table who seemed to be carrying a rat and a kitten.
He blinked, then leaned forward, crossing his arms on the table in front of him. "And who is this?" He asked, his gaze genuinely curious and his voice gentle. Behind him, Karene placed a hand on the back of the Blonde Illusionists seat, smiling as she too kept her eyes on Daniel.
"It would seem our Kanec has a sibling, my dear Ring-Master. One who happens to need a home," She answered, crossing her arms again with a quiet laugh. "Who knew." She turned back to the van window to watch the declining weather as Raphael glanced over his shoulder at her.
"Oh?" He leaned back in his chair slightly, rubbing the side of his right eye with two fingers and looking back towards Kanec and the blonde kid. "I see. That's not really a problem, having him stay... It's not like we need another van for him. I take it you'll want him with you, though," Raphael contemplated, dropping his hand and looking at Kanec. He smiled slightly, then folded his arms over the back of the chair he resided in. "It's not an issue. Of course, we'll need to know what he can do and such..." The Ring-Master paused, then looked at Kanec before returning his gaze to Dravius, an eyebrow raised questioningly. "Unless, you've already been told?"
Daniel eyed Dravius for a second before setting Snap down on the table, where he curled up into a ball, and cradled Lily with both arms, the small kitten seeming rather content now. "Well, I be Daniel Jones. I can 'alk to Lily, Snap, and used to talk to Delilah, before..." He trailed off, seeming saddened, before continuing. "They can talk back. But no 'un 'ears them like me. And...I be ten. I t'ink." He gestured to the kitten in his arms, then the sleeping rat, anmeing them in turn. "Dis be Lily. He's Snap. And yea...Lily got bited by a mean ole puppy a few day ago. It still 'urts 'er, 'ough." He cuddled the kitten, who purred, but shifted uncomfortably all the same. Daniel noticed this and readjusted his arms again for her.
Kanec, meanwhile watched Daniel calmly. He'd never expected the little one to look so much like him. Then again, he'd been two when he'd left. It would have been hard to tell. Anyways, he was a blonde, under all that muck. He stood from his chair to squat beside Daniel, ruffling his hair a bit. "Well, as far as I know, you got that spot on. Good memory, huh? And it seems as if you didn't drop your last name, like me." The little kid shook his head, his hair shaking with it, giving him an even more disheveled look, if it were possible. He glanced at Raphael, smiling a bit at his comment about Daniel's living arrangements. "I would love to have him with me, yes. Even if I didn't, he'd probably end up in there anyways."
~~
Nylat flicked her tail, shaking herself out again. "The furs can dry. If nothing else, I'll have Kanec help me out. We all know he can weigh enough. But that's a last resort." With a flick of her ears, she padded over to the window, clearing things away from it so as they would not be sodden later. She yawned, gently nosing the furs and other things over beside her bed. "And I wouldn't want to bother anyone with my petty troubles. No doubt I have a good pelt or two that can keep out water. Shame I didn't go fishing the other day..." She trailed off, continuing to mutter to herself as she rummaged through piles of unused furs and pelts. They were mainly deer and rabbits, with a squirrel or beaver here or there. She had a mountain lion pelt or two, and even one wolf pelt somewhere in the van, but she'd lost track of it. She also had the same wolf's skull, but that, too, was lost. She moved on to another stack of pelts, sifting through this one, too. None of her pelts were fox. She would not stand for the death of a fox. And whenever she happened to come across a fox trap, she'd spring it with a branch, and then throw it somewhere no one could be harmed by it. If she happened across a trapped fox, she'd free it. A fox hunter had yet to be encountered, but they'd face a horrible fate.
Finally, she came across her largest beaver pelt, and took it in her teeth, padding over to the broken window, careful to avoid the gl*censored* shards, and got up on her hind legs. Balancing herself with her good front paw on the wall, she carefully put the pelt up over the shattered remains of the window, glad that the adhesive she used was still working. She hadn't hung this pelt in a while. Satisfied, she started sweeping up the gl*censored* with her tail, and after getting it into a neat pile, sat down by it, grinning. "See? I can manage."
Dravius nodded at all the information given to him by the young boy, yawning hugely at the end of it. "Tired...." He muttered, rubbing his eyes sleepily. "Who's Delilah, if you don't mind me askin'?" He settled all four legs of his chair on the ground and leaned forewards, resting his chin on the table. His eyelids were drooping, although he seemed fully able to listen to all that Daniel told him, and cocked his head to the side, moving his slightly bleary gaze to the kitten. "Chee, only ten? S'a little young to be out on your own, don'tcha think?" He yawned again, his shortened tongue poking out slightly.
"Poor girl," Dravius murmered, turning his face to the side to rest it on the table. "Can I see? Maybe I can help." He dug in his pockets without looking, withdrawing dozens of vials and lining them up on the table in front of him. "I'll find it later. I've got things for animals in my van. " He shifted his head again to press his face into the table, moaning- "Fever's baaaack."
The boy didn't bother to lift his head at Raphael's arrival, instead stating "Speech to animals, age ten, Daniel Jones, brother to Kanec, kind of grimy, speech needs cleaning up, needs probably more food, but not cake, and uuuuhh." Dravius stretched his arms over his head, groaning slightly, and that sound ended with a strong bout of coughing, muffled by the wood of the table. "To young for shows, needs to run around with Miranda and the like, stuff like that."
Another string of harsh coughing followed, and Dravius was panting slightly, the muscles in his torso trembling. "That should probably huuuuurt," the Co-Master rasped, putting his arms over his head. He sighed heavily, listening to the rain pick up, thudding against the vans as if it might burrow through the wood. Thunder clapped in the distance, and Dravius growled into the table, snarling muffledly, "I wanna go and sit in the rain, but that'll just make e sicker. Dammit." The last word was muttered, followed by quiet strings of non-repeatable words.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again."
"It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."
"Oh, okay," Maya murmered, flopping back onto the bed and depositing her cloak to one side. She watched Nylat in silence as the hybrid relocated a number of her furs, before pulling her legs onto the bed. Shifting slightly, the golden-haired teen turned herself so that she lay on her stomach, one hand supporting her chin, a small smile on her face.
"Come on, Ny... Your troubles are not petty. Anyone in the Circus would be happy to help you, besides, you'll need that fixing eventually." The young woman glanced at the window, then held up her other hand, palm up. "You shouldn't refuse help if you need it," She dropped her hand, then shrugged as well as she could while laying down.
She eventually glanced off towards the window again as Nylat snuffled around in a fur-pile in the corner. The sky outside was a dark, steely gray, the dense looking fluff being illuminated with a sudden flash of lightening. The low, rumble of thunder followed shortly after. Blowing at the hair that hung over the girls eyes in a huff of breath, she brought her attention away from the weather to look back at Nylat when the hybrid dragged a rather large pelt across the van. She lifted her legs and crossed them behind her, as Nylat placed said fur over the broken window.
A small puddle had already formed just under the window, and the drafts of cold air were not easy to ignore. Ugh. Maya was not fond of thunderstorms. Sure, rain was alright, and it could even be pleasant, but a storm was something else entirely. Saying that, she didn't mind storms unless she had to go out in them. With a small, somewhat uneeded pout, she watched as the broken glas.s was taken care of, then dropped her legs back onto the mattress with a soft flump.
"You can manage," She agreed, using her hands to play with a lock of hair. "But that window still needs fixing," She smiled at the hybrid, then pulled herself up and sat with her back to the nearby wall, her wings folded either side of her.
"Which reminds me. I've heard Kioko's moving in?" She said, a smile tugging at her lips. Well, she knew Nylat had always wanted to share her van, and as far as Maya was concerned, she deserved that, at least.
---
"Ah," Raphael had listened to Dravius' words in silence, raising his eyebrow when the boy's voice melted into a quiet stream of coughs. Eh, he should have checked on the Co-Master. The blode illusionist knew full well what that kid was like, and more often than not he'd end up moving around when he really shouldn't be.
"Right. Got it," The Ring-Master glanced towards Daniel and Kanec. "Kanec?... Do you want to take the kid and get him settled into your van with you?... I'll come speak to you later and sort out the details," He smiled, then turned back to Dravius, resting one elbow on the table and the other on the back of his chair. "I kinda figured he'd be too young for shows," The Ring-Master laughed, before looking with silent concern as Dravius fell into another bout of coughing.
"Probably." He prodded the white haired male gently in the side of his head. "In truth, you shouldn't even be up yet, if at all. That fever of yours seemed pretty bad, and medication does need time to work. It might be best if you headed back to your van and slept for a while."
"And yes. Sitting in this would not be a good idea," He prodded the younger male again, his finger barely even making contact. "Now get going. It's getting late anyway. No doubt everyone will be heading to bed soon."
Karene, who had watched the scene in silence, snorted quietly. "He's got a point, Wolfe," She added, watching as a few straggling Circus members made their way out of the food van. "Anyway," She glanced back at the Circus master and company. "I'll head to my own van. I'll see you all tomorrow," She waved blithely, before bowing slightly in Daniels direction. "It was nice to meet you," She smiled, before straightening herself up and heading to the door. The caramel haired woman walked out of the van without covering her head, relishing in the cold droplets of water that hit her almost immediately, before almost bumping into Violet.
"Ah dea- Oh... Hi Violet, Disera," She said, blinking, raindrops falling freely from the strands of hair over her forehead. "My goodness." She raised her eyebrows in Violets direction. "I haven't seen you in a long while... How've you-" She stopped, then glanced skyward. "On second thought, I'll catch up with you later," The woman laughed. "I don't want to stay out here any longer than need be. See you."
With a wave, Karene skirted around the Necromancer and the Shifter, before heading quickly in the general direction of her van. Thunderstorms. For some reason, they never bode well for her. Perhaps it was just a personal judgement, however. Still. She'd rather not stay out in this unless need be.
Nylat flicked an ear before padding over to the bed and leaping up beside Maya. "Help is a luxury. Sure, I'll get it fixed, but not now." She laid her head on her paws, listening to the thunder, her ears flicking every time it rumbled. Storms often unnerved her--she'd finally escaped from them during a thunderstorm. The feel of mud and sound of Jeeps reverberated from her memory, causing a shudder to run through her. A tthe mention of Kioko's relocation, she raised ehr head, nodding. "Of course. Who would I be to deny the lonely some company? Not to admit helping Kioko out, as well." She grinned breifly, before laying her head back on her paws.
~~
Kanec listened to Dravius, his features tinting with worry as coughing overcame him. At Raphael's request, he nodded, gesturing to Daniel. "Come on, Daniel. I'm sure Dravius will take a look at Lily later. He's not in the condition currently." As the two left the van, Kanec shifted into a gryphon, spreading a wing over Daniel to keep him dry as they navigated through the rain to the Shifter's van, where he opened the door and let Daniel in, before shifting back to his human self and slipping inside.
Once inside, he turned on a light, revealing two beds, a desk, and numerous pictures of birds of prey, most in flight. The desk was cluttered with paper and pens, most of the paper blank, and Daniel had seated himself on one of the beds. Kanec seated himself on the other, and sighed.
"So, Daniel, tell me what happened, as far back as you can remember..."
"Well, you never know....." Dravius muttered, slumping forewards, his back arching. "Well, I hate sleeping. Boring as f*ck." He sighed, turning his head to open one blue eye at Raphael. "It's still bad. It broke for a while but now...uuuuuuh." He wrapped his long arms around his torso, baring his teeth. "It's r-r-really c-cold in here." His teeth were chattering slightly, and he pulled up the hood of his sweatshirt over his hair.
"A-although I-I-I b-bet it isn't....n-n-n-not really..." Dravius stuttered, closing his eyes at the prodding. "M' too tired to move. But nkay." He hauled himself up, yawning hugely, his sharp teeth flashing. Pushing open the door with the palm of one hand, he followed Karene out, the temperature suddenly seeming to rise about him. Stupid fever. He sighed, looking at the drops of rain clinging to his eyelashes and dripping from the tips of his hair. In the minute or so it took him to trot back to his wagon, his was soaked to the skin, and he tsked as he pulled off his zipped hoodie and red shirt. He changed into a softer pair of read and black flannel pants, sliding under the heaped blankets on his bed.
Dravius shivered under the covers, body temp fluctuating wildly. His hair was still sopping wet, and the water wasmanaging to make the black pillowcase uncomfortably damp. Suddenly, the shivering male stood and crossed to the squishy red chair in the corner, grabbing a stick of pencil lead and a pile of paper as he pas.sed. He settled himself into the seat, toes curling around the edge of the seat. He was sitting with his butt on his heels, balls of his feet sinking into the red material. He began sketching madly, frantically chewing on the scar where his lip ring used to be.
In about twenty minutes, with a slight pause to light candles all around the van, Dravius had produced a rather nice picture of Maya, slightly smudged around the edges by the fact that Dravius was left handed, but accurate all the same. The only problem was that the Maya in the picture seemed terrificaly, horrendously sad, standing in the rain, and crying heavily, tears mixing with rain. Dravius snarled and began methodically shredding the drawing, letting the scraps float to the floor. "Stupid," He muttered, extinguishing all the candles. His bare feet scraped gently against the floor, and retrieved another peice of paper and scrawled "Do Not Disturb" in his slanted, spiky sc
ript. He then pushed up the switches that controlled the nails on his van and hung the sign from a few outside on his door, shuffling back to sit in the red chair, wrapped in the blanket Maya had used. He began painting on the walls, covering any open spaces. He reached his arm out and labeled the handprints next to him, grabbing a strawberry and devouring it quickly.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again."
"Don't worry about it," Disera told the young girl, stretching one wing over her head once the rain began to pour harder.  "Like I said, it'll be fine.  You're not the first person we've had stay overnight in our van.  We've got two beds in there, and I usually don't sleep in my true form, so you can have the spare one.  From the looks of those clouds, this storms gonna be pretty bad, anyway.  I doubt you wanna be alone when the thunder starts in."
She shifted her grip as Violet stood and retrieved her bag.  "Name's Disera.  Nice to meet you, Violet.  Our van is that one over at the edge of the circus grounds.  With all the blue and purple on it.  Don't worry about the door, Selvai usually keeps it unlocked.  The magic wards do a good job of keeping out anybody who shouldn't be in there."
-----------
Kioko moved away from the broken window, picking up Sid to keep him from wandering into the broken glas.s and cutting his paws.  Cuddling the little dog to her chest, the white haired girl took a seat on the free bed in the van.  "If you need help, there's nothing wrong with asking for it," she told the hybrid quietly as she watched her fix the window and deal with the shards of gla.ss.  "That's why you asked me to move in, right?  So we could help each other."
She shivered as a gust of cold air blew past the beaver hide, followed by the low rumbles of thunder.  Pulling her cloak around herself and the pup, the pyro toed off her shoes and swung her feet up on the bed, gingerly crossing her ankles so that the injured one wouldn't be jarred.  Kioko gently scratched Sid behind the ears as she continued talking.  "I guess I'm going to wait to get my stuff from my van.  You don't mind if I use this bed tonight, do you Ny?"
-----------
The magician eyed the fork in Yama's hand before responding.  "I shall see what I can learn from this strange mark before deciding whether to broach the subject with Spider and Evan.  I don't wish to upset either of them anymore then they already have been."  Selvai smiled weakly at the unspoken threat in Yama's words.  "And from his manner earlier, it seems to have been especially shocking to Spider.  I'd rather avoid reminding him of it if possible."
"I have little knowledge of it myself, Yama," Selvai confessed as he joined Will in examining the mark.  "Although my interests lie in so-called "dark" magic, I shy away from using it to harm others."  He kneeled, careful not to touch any of the strange substance still covering the floor.  "A strange smell.  This unexplainable feeling... And you said Zinc was aware, but unable to prevent it."  He looked up at Sh'Yama.  "May I ask.. Did this van always have those wards placed upon it?  Or were those recent?"
Standing, Selvai frowned, rubbing one of the lines crossing over his temple as he thought.  "I'm not familar with this sort of mark, but from Spider's deion of a "scary" feeling when Zinc disappeared, I would hazard that another magical presence or being was present when it occurred.  The smell I'm less sure of, I've never been witness to a magical creature such as a bogeyman having their physical form destroyed.  You may be right that it is simply an after effect of the combustion."  He raised his cast free hand, spreading out his fingers in lieu of shrugging.  "I am sorry I couldn't be more informative.  Perhaps I could look through my notes and spellbooks for anything that could relate to this mark."
"I WISH THAT PUNCTUATION HAD A PHYSICAL FORM SO I COULD SMOTHER YOU WITH IT."
"Our families views on "dark" are vastly different." She did not express how she knew this. "Let it be known that your crimes (the ones I know about) are nothing compared to some of the things my "family" has dabbled in." Yama graced them with a smile. "I'm a prime example." She said, and only sounded pleased, as she pushed the plate away and stood up, and moved over to join them. If it had been Spider he would have been ashamed to admit he was a horrible abomination. Sh'Yama had to work on getting him over that.
"The wards were placed last night by yours truly," Sh'Yama pursed her lips. "There were too many sneaking into this van. This fiasco was the last straw. I decided some defensive measures were needed." Though, she didn't admit that her wards probably wouldn't have been able to stop whoever or whatever did this to Zinc. Selvai could probably tell that much. Mostly she just wanted to keep the nosey little creepers out.
She silently agreed with Selvai, crossing her arms as she brooded silently over the mark on the floor. If only she had paid more attention in lessons. Laurence had always nagged and nagged about memorizing them... "Perhaps it is best to look that up. Bogeys, anyway. All I know is that he bleeds green, and can change shape. He was a giant, gelatonous, pink-haired blob."
Will had snapped on some medical gloves, just in case. She stared at the mark silently for a moment, and then dug around in her pockets. She found a small evidence tube, which hopefully, was clean. Who knows what she could have been storing in it otherwise. She didn't ask if she could take a sample, but avoided disturbing the mark, only scooping up a little bit on the outskirts of the mark with her swab. "We should probably treat it like an actual crime scene. Photograph the mark, take the substance in for testing. Alas, I don't have such extensive equipment... but I can tell you if his body was the result of the smell."
She snapped the little cap on her tube and put it back in her pocket. "I have a digital camera in my van. Might be able to... sweep the rest of him into a baggy for further testing, after we have a permanent image of the... sign." Dr. Kirk mimiced Selvai's shrug, just with full shoulder usage. Sh'Yama only nodded her head. "Notes and books usually hold the answer for these things." She'd look through her books, but she had abandoned them years ago, and didn't like sitting hunched over a bunch of moldy tomes anyway. Somehow, the roll of thunder made the situation seem more urgent than it was.
And it only complemented the odd womans look. She'd probably sweep Zinc's dust into a magic machine, zap it with lightning, and wam. You have created soulless green blob. Yama could hear her exclamations of "it's alive" already. Will didn't notice the strange look Yama was giving her; probably because she was really excited and probably would do that if given the chance. "I might be able to look up some things myself! Of course, I don't know anything about magic... but I have records of people who do. Creatures and gifted alike. There might be something in the database... you never know." Maybe she'd send the picture around and ask some questions. It's not like it could hurt the situation.
Yama didn't say anything. They could do as they wished. But now she was getting worried about her charges. They were running about in the rain, bawling, probably.
- - -
Spider didn't recognize that person. But then he didn't recognize many people these days, he only noticed because she was out in the rain when everyone else had gone inside. But it's not like he knew everyone at this crazy place! All of the strangers tended to pop up being all friendly whenever he decided to get the honey out of Dodge, but other than that, zip nada. Or maybe that was just Yama? Wow, what a turn out her leaving escapades made. The rumble of thunder made Spider jump a little, and his bravery of wandering in the rain to find Evan almost ran out.
But thank Thor, there he was. His dapper attire and look of utter despair was indistinguishable. Spider skittered over and ducked down next to Evan, eyes wide as he listened to another peal of thunder. The wagon Evan had taken refuge next to wasn't giving all that much shelter from the rain. If it wasn't for that tarp tacked to the nearby van, Evan would probably be soaked. Spider wasn't sure what to say. Evan was probably still upset about his watch, and Spider knew he was still very upset himself.
They both lost something very important and that wasn't fair. Though the things lost might not be the same in value to others; a friend is usually far more important than a timepiece,  but Spider understood how Evan felt. Though he hadn't asked why, Spider got the basic idea by all of the mumbling Evan did, talking to himself. Penny. It was a nice name. Spider was sure she had been wonderful, and wondered what happened to her.
Spider sat down and planted his back to the wagon wheel and glanced at Evan. Spider knew he didn't want to go back to the van, that was for sure. Anywhere would be better. Staying by the wagon would have been okay; if it wasn't raining... how Spider longed for a roof that was made out of wood. Evan finally sighed and looked over at him, his sad little smile on his face. "Hello, Boris. You wouldn't happen to know where a gent could find a straight razor around here, would you?"
Boris did not, and so shook his head. He had never needed a razor before. Blodwen thing, he supposed. Or maybe the fact that he wasn't completely a person? With that logic though, Yama should be really hairy. Weren't wendigos furry? Spider didn't actually know. Still, it wouldn't surprise Spider to find out that Evan was only really half a Blodwen. "Ah well," Evan murmured, "Guess I'll have to put up with... this..." He rubbed the side of his face and frowned. There was a blank silence, interrupted only by a few rumbles of thunder and the flash of lightning in the distance.
"Boris, I've been thinking. If we can't find the pocketwatch... well, I can forget about it." Evan dropped his hand to his lap. "It's just a watch. The safety and happiness of my family is more important."
His reply was a frown. "But it's... very important to you." Spider said, and started to get that watery-eyed look that warned of forthcoming bawling. Evan stood up, and dusted off his trousers. "That's quite alright, Boris I— Shut up Gervaise!— it's really... not... that important." Evan rubbed his head, and then shook it, holding his hand out to Spider. "Let's get you out of the rain. Wouldn't do you good to catch your dea— to catch a cold."
Another person might have been alarmed by Evan's outburst, but Spider just decided it was because he was upset. He took Evan's offered hand and stood up, politely ignoring Evan as started to mutter furiously to himself, and instead ducked his head against the rain.
[[man i could write about Evan being bonkers and Spider being Spider forever.]]
((Okey. Gonna time skip in here. o3o))
Maya had had her eyes on the now pelt covered window when she felt the mattress drop beneath her, turning to watch Nylat as the hybrid settled herself on the bed next to her. "Alright," She smiled in response, stretching her legs out in front of her and wiggling her toes. "So long as you don't forget about it."
Catching sight of Nylat's obvious shudder, the butterfly watched her for a moment in slight concern, listening to her response before smiling at her. "I think it's a good idea," She said, slipping off of the bed and walking over to Kioko, perching herself beside the pyro and giving Sid a scratch behind the ear. "With Kioko around, I probably won't have to worry about you so much, huh?" She grinned back over at Nylat, falling silent as the pyro spoke, still stroking the little animal in younger girls arms.
"Might be a good idea," She murmered, looking at Kioko before glancing at the window. With the fur in the way, she was unable to actually see the current state of the weather outside, but the noise was more than enough to give anyone a basic picture. Besides, she'd seen what was to come earlier. With a shudder, she turned back to the white haired girl. "Moving your stuff shouldn't take too long, you didn't bring a lot with you, did you?"
Tilting her head slightly, she gave Sid a final scratch under the chin, before standing and walking back over to the bed she'd occupied previously, crawling back onto it and settling herself next to Nylat. She wrapped her slender arms around the hybrids furry neck, being sure to not get too close to her injured paw, then shifted so that she could smush her face into her friends soft pelt. "Do you mind if I stay here tonight with you?" She asked quietly, pressing her cheek against the hybrids neck and using an arm to move her mas.s of golden hair away from her face. "I don't really want to walk to my van in this. My cloak isn't likely to keep me all that dry." The girl smiled slightly, before closing her eyes and sighing contentedly through her nose; Gently pressing her face into Nylat's warm fur. She was asleep before she got her answer.
~~~

"Hate it or not, sleeping will do you good." Raphael exhaled slowly through his nose, rolling his eyes slightly at Dravius and shaking his head. His ex
pression was both slightly concerned and slightly amused as he turned away from the Co-Master to wave Kanec off, watching as Daniel followed after him with his animal companions in tow.

Chuckling, he glanced back at Dravius just as the taller male finally got together enough motivation to move. "Alright, goodnight." With a small, barely visible smile, the Ring-Master hauled himself up just as soon as the Co-Master left the van, glancing at the window and blowing at a strand of hair that had fallen over his nose. Tonight was going to be a turbulent one, for certain. The sky had gone from dull gray to a much deeper, darker colour with the onset of night, the flashes of lightning continuing to illuminate the sky every now and then.

Shaking his head again, Raphael pulled up the hood of the shirt he wore, before leaving the food van and heading for his own, walking quickly in order to get out of the heavy rain. By the time he got to his van, he was pretty much soaked through, and he pulled off his shirt almost before he'd made it entirely through the door. Throwing the now wet material to one side, Raphael flopped heavily onto his bed, rubbing a temple and focusing his gaze on the sky outside his window. With any luck, this storm would blow itself out by tomorrow. He could hope, anyway. Setting up a rather large Circus tent in weather like this... Well. He could think of better situations.

.:Time Skip:.

The next morning, the storm had indeed ended, though the ground remained slightly damp. The sun, though weak, was bright and welcoming, and many members of the Circus had risen early, having not had much luck sleeping through the overnight storm.

Maya, who actually had slept due to her previous lack of sleep, woke up with her face smushed into the mattress and her hair all over the place. With a quiet groan, she lifted herself onto her elbows, then sat herself up and rubbed at her eyes. Glancing at both the sleeping Kioko and Nylat, the girl slowly, and quietly, made her way off of the bed, straightening her hair with her hands as she went and slipping her feet into a pair of white flat sandals. She usually preferred to walk without them, but walking on wet gras.s was something she'd rather not do if she could help it. Slipping out of the van door, she closed it behind her without making a sound, before heading off towards her own van.

It didn't take her too long, and she entered quickly, sitting herself on the edge of her bed and holding out a hand to one of the fluttering butterflies that had been dancing above. The little white creature landed sedately on her middle finger, before taking off to once again join the others. Smiling, the blonde-haired teen quickly removed her sandals, changing into a pair of gray jeans and a floaty, strapped white dress top; Spending a good bit of time attempting to gain some sort of order to her wavy hair. Once done, she smiled fleetingly up at the butterflies, then left her van as quickly as she came, almost walking into Julian on her way out of the vehicle.

"Oh dear, I'm sor-Oh. Hi Julian." She smiled apologetically at him, crossing her arms behind her back. The Sword-Master, luckily, had seen the girl coming long before she had seen him, therefor preventing an actual collision. He smiled slightly at her. "Good morning," He replied quietly, glancing off in the direction he'd been heading. He eventually pulled his gaze back to the butterfly, raising an eyebrow slightly. "Your up early."

"Oh?" She blinked, then glanced skyward. "I hadn't noticed." Chewing her lip, her eyes widened slightly. "Oh! That reminds me. Julian?... Nylat needs help with fixing her window."

"Her window?"

"Mhmm," The girl smiled slightly. "She broke it yesterday getting into her van, she had trouble with the door." Maya's attention at that point fell onto the white butterfly she'd greeted merely minutes before, watching it as it settled itself onto her left shoulder. Huh. It must have followed her out of the van. Julian also watched the butterflies arrival, then shrugged and nodded, turning his gaze back to Maya as he slipped his hands into his pockets. "I'll deal with it." With a wave, the Sword-Master turned on his heel and headed back towards where Nylat's van was situated, his pace steady. Well, it's not like he had anything else to do this morning.

Maya returned the dark haired males wave, watching him leave in silence before glancing over her shoulder. From her vantage point, the town could be seen, and the girl watched the settlement for a moment before smiling at the little creature that had decided to follow her. She eventually turned back to her van, flaring her wings and lifteing herself into the air. She landed on her van roof with absoloutely no noise, sitting herself down and resting her eyes on the town in the distance; The white butterfly choosing this moment to relocate itself on Maya's head. It really was a pretty little place, too bad her first experience of it had not been all that positive. With a small, fleeting frown, the girl pulled a lock of hair from behind her left ear, and started to rythmatically plait it, her ex
pression thoughtful. She never did get the chance to buy that crystal butterfly.

Flipping over to lie on her side Violet let out a long yawn, blinking her eyes sleepily as she struggled to pull free of the usual haze of sleep. Rubbing her face with one hand lazily the necromancer closed her eyes again, wanting to slip back into sleep. "Ugh..." she moaned quietly. Letting her hand drop from her face and flop lazily over the edge of the bed Violet kicked her legs slightly to disentangle herself from the blankets.

Finally the woman managed to get into a sitting position, leaning back heavily on the palms of her hands as she tried to adjust her eyes to the new bright lighting. The night before started coming back, the memories flashing by quickly. Violet recalled struggling into the cabin -door unlocked as Disera had promised- and struggling to close the door behind her as the wind howled against the cabin walls. Shivering she had let Disera do whatever she liked as Violet herself pulled off her hoodie and t-shirt and lay down on the spare bed in her tank-top and jeans.

I should probably get some pajamas, Violet thought in retrospect, smiling wryly. Reaching over the edge of the bed she picked up her hoodie and struggled into it, huffing with displeasure as the ties got entangled in her hair. Finally her sweater was on and Violet felt adequately dressed to go outside in public. Glancing around the cabin she wondered who Selvai was.

[Bah, I'm so sleepy. T^T]

Nylat had mumbled answers to the last few questions, as she had been too tired to answer. Weariness never seemed gradual anymore. Always came suddenly. Not that she minded. She woke up when Maya left, feeling the mattress move under her, but was too groggy to move until long after the girl had left. Yawning, Nylat stood, having her three good legs spread a good distance apart to keep her from falling. With a flick of her tail, she bounded silently over to the pelt, careful not to wake Kioko. She jumped up on her hind legs, feeling the back of the pelt with her snout. Dry. Good, it held.

Yawning again, she stepped back, dropping back to three paws. She pushed open her door, and wearily stumbled from her van, heading in a random direction. It took hera while to realize she was not heading further into the Circus, but rather, toward town. She shrugged. Maybe she could find a good squirrel here. City squirrels were always fat and slow.

~~

Kanec woke to find Daniel splayed out on the other bed, one leg hanging off the edge. Lily was curled up on his chest and opened one eye to look at him as he sat up. Kanec flared a wing, wondering where Snap was when the white rat dropped onto the ground from his feathers, squeaking angrily. He apologized to the small animal as it scurried under Daniel's bed, soon resurfacing and climbing into his hair. The rat seemed so out of place, white in so much grime.

Kanec wanted Daniel to get cleaned up--dirt was not neccascerily a good thing--but he didn't want to wake the kid. So he shifted into a wolf, curling up on his bed. Then he saw the bone dagger. He didn't like the thing, it meant Daniel had had use for it. Meaning he'd had to fight. Maybe even kill. Quietly, he slipped off of his bed, his feet touching the floor silently as he padded over to Daniel's own bed, cand taking the dagger's hilt in his teeth. Carefully, he slid it from Daniel's belt loop, and set it down on the floor. Grimacing, he flicked it with a paw and rolling it under his bed.

Dravius had not slept at all so far, a pile of books growing beside him as the night dragged on. It was quite difficult to read by candlelight, the flickering making the words twist on the page of the tomes. The books were all well read, with creaking spines and slightly yellowed pages. Dravius was reading at a breakneck speed, switching between about a dozen books about medical procedures and the such, and many more fiction books, no particular story managing to keep his attention for long. As he flipped through the heavy, old books, he took notes on scraps of paper, pen leaking slightly on the tips of his fingers.

His already scrawly handwriting was worsened by the side of his hand sweeping over the still-wet ink. Dravius had quit reading the nonfiction at about dawn, swapping fiction books every so often. His fever had broken an hour or so later, and his skin had returned to it's natural, if sun-deprived, colour. The Co-master had also spent some time re-wrapping all of the bandages on his arms and hands, pulling out any old stitches, mostly out of pure boredom. He decided he needed new books. Then he also decided against it, letting out a huge sigh.

When Dravius heard the first signs of activity in the camp, he stood and tugged on a white shirt with sleeves that reached his knees, while leaving the torso exactly the right length. He had neglected to do anything to his hair after it recieved it's soaking, and now it was sticking up in many different directions, so he ran his long fingers through it, fortunately possesing the kind of hair that liked to calm down immediately. The white shirt had a single bloodred handprint on the lower hem, dragging downwards as if someone had grabbed onto it and then slipped their hand away.

Dravius hopped lightly out of his van, leaving both the nails and the sign in place. The day was nice, and although there were deep bruise-looking circles under his eyes, he looked improved from yesterday. He spotted a tree, and with a grin, quickly clambered up it, coming to a rest about halfway up the tree. He suddenly felt very tired, and lay down on one of the tree's branches, dozing off while perched rather precariously. He seemed on the edge of falling, one arm and leg dangling below him.

Making his way swiftly through the camp grounds, Julian headed immediately to where the Circus kept their van supplies, consisting of windows and engine parts. He didn't need, really, to take a look at Nylat's window. He'd seen it enough times to judge its size, and knowing the hybrid, if she'd jumped through the window the whole thing was likely to need replacing.

He entered the vehicle full of parts sighing through his nose, before rummaging around for a window that would fit the frame of Nylat's van. It didn't take him too long, and he carried the thing under one arm as he left, heading straight for the Hybrids van. The Circus was beginning to reach that point where most of the members had finally gotten themselves up, and were lounging about laughing and looking tired. Well. The tired part was probably due to many of them not sleeping last night.

Blowing hair out of his face, the Sword-Master shifted the window in his arm, before coming to a stop in front of Nylats van. He knocked lightly on the door, then walked around to take a look at the damaged window. Yep. The whole was going to need to be replaced. With another sigh, the dark haired male walked back to the door and knocked again, before waiting a few moments. He knew Nylat can't have been present. She usually answered her door immediately.

Sighing through his nose, Julian opened the door and slipped in, leaving it slightly ajar and pausing when he caught sight of Kioko. Hm. He hadnt expected anyone else to be here. Ah well. Placing the new window just by the door, he walked over to the broken one before he started loosening the frame, making almost no noise as he did.

~~~
It turned out rather well. Looking at the new plaited strand of hair, Maya  threw it over her shoulder so that it ran along the length of the rest of her hair, before holding out a hand to the little white butterfly that had perched itself on her other shoulder.
She watched it for a moment, opening and closing it's wings at a lazy pace, clearly not wanting to move from where it sat. With a quiet laugh, she shifted her legs so that they became crossed,  placing the insect on the roof of her van and watching it crawl over a lock of hair that was curled around her legs. Smiling, the young woman pulled her gaze away from the little creature to glance fleetingly over her shoulder at the reluctantly bustling Circus. She spotted Dravius when he emerged, and had been about to go and ask him how he was before he ended up climbing a tree and, apparantly, dozing on it. It was at this point she was pretty sure she'd been right about him being part monkey.
Giggling with quiet laughter, she turned her gaze back towards the town, spotting a familiar figure in the distance. Leaning forward quickly, one hand balanced on the very edge of her van roof, the butterfly raised her other hand to wave madly. "Nylat!" She called, smiling. "Where are you going?" It wasn't like the hybrid to want to be around town, though that indeed may have been where she was headed. Still. It probably wasn't too good an idea for the hybrid to head out with only three useable paws.
"Um, no.  I only have what was in my bag," Kioko answered the golden haired girl.  She nervously dug her fingers through Sid's fur as the thunder began to crash louder outside.  As Maya moved back to the other bed, the pyro lay over on her side, curling up slightly around the small dog.  "I hope it's over by morning," she commented quietly.  "I don't want to walk back to my van in the rain."
Yawning, the white haired girl decided to follow Nylat and Maya's lead and attempt to get some sleep.  "Night Maya, Nylat," she muttered, throwing one arm over Sid and covering her eyes with the other.
Slowly coming back to wakefulness the next morning, Kioko clumsily rubbed the sleep from her eyes with the palm on her hand.  Rolling sideways, she nearly rolled over onto Sid before realizing the pup was beside her and stopping herself.  "Sorry," the girl mumbled, carefully pushing herself up from the mattress with her elbow.  Looking around blearily, Kioko realized that, while the butterfly and hybrid had both already woken and left, she wasn't alone in the van.
"G-good morning, Mister Julian," the white haired girl greeted the Sword Master, inwardly wincing at the embarras.sed blush she knew would be starting to form on her cheeks.  Ducking her head, she placed Sid on the floor and began to untie her still knotted shoestrings.  Should have probably taken the time to properly take them off the night before.  Oh well.  Kioko risked a glance up at the dark haired man currently removing the window frame.
"Um.  How are you today Julian?  Is everything okay?"  Finally managing to untangle the first shoe, she shoved her uninjured foot inside and hurriedly re-tied the frayed laces.  "I'm moving into Nylat's van, so I need to go get my stuff together.  Not that there's alot to move, you know, but..."  Trailing off awkwardly, Kioko eased the bandaged foot into it's shoe.  "Plus I need to give something back to Yama.  Not that I don't want to talk to you,"  the girl said hurriedly.  "I just have stuff I need to do."  Picking up her crutches, the pyro hobbled to the door, offering him a small smile.  "So.  I guess I'll talk to you later, then."
It took longer than usual for the pyro to cross the circus grounds to her own van, mostly due to the white haired girl taking extra care not to slip on the wet gra.ss with her crutches.  Finally at the door, she stepped inside, making sure to leave it open in case Sid wanted to follow her into the van.  Unzipping her backpack, Kioko began picking up items of clothing and haphazardly folding them before shoving them inside.  They were joined by an as.sortment of rocks and shells from the beach, a handful of small candles, a hair brush, and a few other small odds and ends the pyro had collected.
Zipping the pack, Kioko left it where it lay and instead picked up the large, fur cloak still folded on the bed.  She propped one crutch up against the bed frame and shifted Yama's cloak to under her arm.  "I need to do one more thing before I go back to Nylat's van," the pyro told the small dog, smiling at him gently.  "I know you don't really like Yama, so you can stay here and wait for me if you want.  I'll be back really quick, I promise."
Leaving the crutch leaning against the bed, Kioko exited the van, carrying the cloak on her uninjured side and using one crutch to keep the weight off her healing ankle.  Finally reaching her destination, the white haired girl climbed the few steps up to the van door, and stretched out her hand to knock.  She stumbled backwards in shock at the small zap of pain, nearly losing her balance and the cloak at the same time.
It took a moment for the pyro to overcome the shock of the strange event.  "Yama?  Spider?  Are you awake?" she called out.  Making sure to keep her distance from the door.  Whatever had caused the small shock, she was in no hurry to experience it again.
-------------
"Hmm."  Selvai nodded absently at Will's excited state.  A low rumble of thunder came from outside the van, and he frowned at the sound of raindrops beginning to spatter against the van roof.  "It seems the storm is upon us.  I believe I should head to my own van.  And you likely wish for your privacy, Yama.  Goodnight, Will, Sh'Yama."  Stepping outside, he grimaced at the pelting rain, hurrying to his own van.
Laying sideways across Selvai's bed, Disera swiveled one canine ear towards the door as it opened.  "Hey, magician," she greeted quietly as the soaked magic user stepped inside.
"Disera." Spotting the sleeping girl in the other bed, he looked at her questioningly.
"Violet didn't want to be alone in this storm.  I said she could stay with us." The shifter slid off the bed, stretching as she did so.
"Ah.  I see.  Would you like my bed?"  Peeling off his soaked jacket, the magician hung it on a small hook on the back of the van door.
"I'm fine."  Standing on her back legs, Disera snagged one of the plain white pillows from the empty bed with her mouth.  "'all 'ust 'ake 'oor 'illow," she mumbled from around the pillow.
 Dragging it to the middle of the floor, she dropped it and curled on top of the cushion.  "Night, magician," she told him, flipping her tail over her face.
"Goodnight, Disera."  Removing his boots, Selvai slid underneath the blankets covering his bed and turned over on his side, preparing to sleep.
"Hey.  Hey.  Selvai."  Came a whisper from the floor.
"Yes?"  the magician asked without turning over.
"Are you asleep yet?"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"...Well?"
"Go to sleep, Disera."
"...Fine..."
------------
Rolling off the pillow, Disera yawned, scratching the back of one ear with her back paw.  "Hey, Selvai," she greeted the magician, already up and moving about the van.
"Good morning, Disera," he returned the greeting, checking his jacket and frowning when he found it was still damp.  "And to you too, Violet," he continued as the teen woke up.
"Oh, hey Violet.  G'morning," Disera told her.  "Got any plans for breakfast?  You can come eat with us if you want."
Rubbing her eyes again Violet nodded and yawned in quick succession, gasping slightly as the clear air rushed into her lungs. "Sure," she murmured in a distracted way, blinking swiftly. "Everything...feels lighter now," she said thoughtfully. Turning to look a the magician she gave him a shy grin. "You must be Selvai then," she murmured, tilting her head curiously. It was funny really. Violet, being an avid fantasy enthusiast, had imagined Selvai to be some hunched old codger with a long white beard and half-moon glas.ses the moment she had learned he was a magician. In fact, Selvai was rather normal excluding the odd black pattern that covered the upper half of his face.
"I guess you already know I'm Violet though. I mean, since you mentioned me by name and all."
[Selvai wasn't in the role-play when Violet was, was he? o_o]
