(( Frying pan. Lol. The group better get used to Maccus' frequent bouts of oddness and pa.ssing out. ))

Jerking awake, Maccus sat up only to see a himself lying on a strange bed, in a strange room. Stretching, he looked around curiously. Well, this is certainly better than being stuck in a tree... He thought drowsily, and wondered if the snow had been just a strange dream. And that he merely hit his head and imagined a giant wolf-thing talking to him, a butterfly girl that reminded him of Tinkerbell, and a tall stranger that seemed overly protective of Butterfly girl. Noticing some hushed conversation somewhere outside, Or was it in his mind? Maccus shrugged. Definitely not a dream. Patting his pockets, Maccus nodded. His switchblade was there, and so were his puppets. Pulling out one, Maccus noticed that the previous shape; Tinkerbell, had changed into a van. So that's how they do it. Crazy odd. Leaning back, Maccus surveyed the van-puppet. "So little puppets. This is by far the strangest situation you've gotten me into yet. What're you going to do about it?" Out came another hand, enfolded in a Pikachu puppet. "Pika! Well, you could always give these guys a try! They're just like you! DUUUH! Pika!" Rolling his eyes at Pikachu (or was it his?) statement, he shoved the puppet back into his pocket. "So much for helpful advice..." He grumbled to himself, mentally surveying multiple ways in and out of the van. If I really need too..... I could break the window and try to escape.

"I think that was just... A reaction, Nylat." Maya replied, water running freely from her golden strands of hair. "He seemed a little concerned when you mentioned the words, "Co-Master"... Though I don't see how that links with zoos, either." She shrugged slightly, then looked away from the hybrid to look back at Maccus, her face a little worried.

She looked back at Nylat when she mentioned keeping the stranger in her van. "Your not serious?" She asked, shaking her head. "Nylat. You wouldn't handle having a stranger with you. Besides, he'd probably be better off looked after by someone who doesn't move around so much. Not many of us older members would do much of a good job keeping an eye on him. We're not usually in one place long enough."

She sighed quietly, then shook the umbrella she had so that the water dropped off it. When they approached Dravius's van, she paused, eyeing the nails for a moment. She eventually pulled her gaze back to Dravius as he entered, watching as he placed the unconscious Maccus on the bed. Blinking, the young blonde focused her attention on the umbrella and closing it, replying to Dravius's invitation with a small. "'Kay," Her response didn't matter much though, as at that moment the Co-Master physically pulled her into the van, and she responded with a quiet "mmf", before dropping the umbrella by one wall.

She giggled at the state of Dravius' semi-dry hair, stopping short when he started rubbing her hair with a towel. Her ex
pression was that of confusion the entire time he dealt with it, then she watched him leave, blinking. Having her hair not run down her back while wet was a welcome relief, though the entire thing was probably in vain. The young womans clothes were still absoloutely soaked, and it was proving uncomfortable.

Maya did, however, smile at him in thanks, watching him change his shirt, then crawled onto the red chair in the corner and sat, holding the towel around her neck. She started absently playing with the hem of the wet dress shirt she wore, only looking up when she sensed movement.

It was the unconscious guy, apparently having come-to, and playing again with his puppets.She could only watch in total confusion as he made conversation with himself. She was unsure of whether or not she should ask him any questions. Afterall, he'd just hit his head... And the talking to himself was a bit... Well.

She shook her head quickly, then used the towel to wipe her face dry, before focusing her gaze on Maccus and his puppets. She listened in silence to the relentless pounding of the rain, then sneezed again, shuddering for a moment afterwards.

"Hi, Disera, Selvai," the white haired girl responded softly to their greetings.  She smiled at Disera's gerbil form nibbling on the fruit.

"How is your ankle, Kioko?" Selvai questioned.  "I noticed you don't have your crutches with you today."

The pyro looked down, picking at her food.  "Uh, it's still a little sore, but not as bad as it was.  I'll be okay if I rest it for a while before walking on it again."

"Kioko.  You really should use the crutches until you're fully healed,"  the magician told her disaprovingly.  "I doubt Dravius would want to hear you've aggravated your injury after he bandaged it for you."

"I couldn't carry Sid with the crutches, and I didn't want him to get all wet and muddy."  Kioko said stubbornly.  "So I left them in my and Nylat's van."

"You're staying with Nylat now?"  Disera piped up from her plate.

"Yeah.. She asked me to move in so we could keep each other company.  And she sometimes needs help with stuff, so..."  Kioko trailed off, shrugging.

"I'll go get your crutches after breakfast, if you want, Kioko.  You really do need to rest that ankle."  Selvai told her.

The white haired girl mumbled a reply, looking down as she went back to pushing the food around on her plate.  Her head snapped back up at the sound of Karene's voice, and she smiled widely.  "Hi Karene," She replied, returning the wave.  "Yeah, it's Kioko.  But, uh, Sid's really Maya's dog, I'm just watching him for her."

"When am I ever in trouble?"  Disera asked jokingly as Karene walked away.  "I'm a saint, right Selvai?  Oh.  OH!"  The shifter scampered to the edge of the table as she remembered something, jumping into the chair and onto the floor before shifting into her true form.  "Hey, Karene!"  she called after the brunette as she followed her toward the food.  "I almost forgot, I've got someone I wanted to introduce you to.  Selvai's here," she said, pointing to the striped haired magician.

"I WISH THAT PUNCTUATION HAD A PHYSICAL FORM SO I COULD SMOTHER YOU WITH IT."

Violet glanced around the food van and grinned nervously as more people entered. Closing her eyes she decided to focus on one person at a time so she wouldn't be hit by a panic attack. Being embarra.ssed in front of everyone was something the necro didn't need. Blinking with anxiety she turned to the white haired girl, Kioko. "Hey there," she said, giving the girl a shy smile. "You're Kioko, right?"

Nylat shrugged and jumped up into Dravius's van just behind Maya, shutting the door with a foot. The rain punded on outside as she flopped herself on the floor. SHe flicked an ear up, smiling slightly at maya's comment. "I would too take a stranger into my van. Especially a dangerous one. Just to keep him out of someone else's. And I do not move around too much. Just too much for my own good. Most of the newer members move around just as much as us." She flicked her tail, yawning, before laying her head on the ground, stretching her injured paw out awkwardly. She wished that it would heal already. But, then again, it was a token of her idiocy. She flicked her tail back and forth like an agitated cat, staring angrily at nothing.

~~

Daniel yawned and stretched, sitting up to find Lily sitting just beside him. He showed no sign of noticing the rain pounding on the roof of the van, but rather, left Lily on the bed and started for the door, as if intent on getting outside. But Snap skittered up his leg and onto his back and finally onto his head. "Bad idea. Bad idea. Water bad. Water baaaaad."

Daniel carefully took the rat from his head and set him down, sighing. "Snap, I need to a' leas' wash my hair. Rain's a 'ree 'ower."

"Rain and cold make sick. Rai--"

But he was cut off by the door being shut. Daniel, as opposed to frollicking about, just sat against the van, letting the rain wash the dirt from his hair. He let his head fall back to hit the van and sighed. He had not suspected to find Kanec. it was all a little overwhelming.

Dravius looked strangly at the man on his bed, futzing about with puppets, and talking to himself. "Alright then," He muttered, rummaging around in the corner for a moment before considering the shivering, sneezing Maya. "Here. Try...these." He tossed her an oversized, at least for her, red sweastshirt, the hood adorned with devil horns. The zipper pull was in the shape of a small pitchfork, and the inside of it was soft and warm. Along with the shirt came a pair of comfortable, pyjama pants, red and black plaid. "Hang the wet stuff up wherever, and-hey!" Dravius grabbed a towel and marched over to Nylat, tsking, "You're getting everything wet." He began rubbing the thick ruff around her neck, leaving the towel over the hybrid's head.

Walking over to the man on the bed, Dravius snapped his fingers, and said, "Hello. You pas.sed out at the mention of a Co-Master. What that has to do with a zoo, I don't know, but you're actually in a circus. Name's Dravius, that's Maya, and the soggy, furry one is Nylat. Welcome." He looked rather stern as he towered over Maccus, his arms crossed over his chest. The van was sealed tight, letting none of the afternoon's light in. The candles threw flickering lights on the walls, and also highlighted Dravius' already thin face, scooping deeper hollows beneath his cheekbones, and darkening the bruises under his eyes.

((*Hugs Dravvy* D:))

Karene had remained in conversation with one of the food van workers for a good few minutes, before glancing over her shoulder at Disera with a raised eyebrow. "Uh. Wouldn't surprise me if you were, I certainly know you well enough," She responded, an amused smile on her features. She glanced back as the worker moved off, waving a hand, before turning so that her back was pressed against the counter.

"Saint?... You?..." She snorted quietly, turning her gaze to the food van door as a couple of members entered, both soaking wet thanks to the weather. She waved a quick greeting in their direction, both of them returning her wave, before she brought her attention back to the blue-skinned shifter.

At her outburst, Karene blinked, blowing a strand of caramel hair away from her face and watching Disera scamper around before making her way to the floor; And taking on her natural form. "Selvai?" The young woman asked. "Who's Selvai?" She followed Disera's point, biting her lip as she looked at the magician. She had a sneaking feeling she should know who this was, and it was probably so blatantly obvious too. It didn't take long for her to figure it out, however.

"Oh, wait a minute," She said, pushing away from the counter. "The Summoner?" She asked, the question directed more at Selvai than Disera. "Oh. Pff. Nice to meet you," She said, raising a hand. "Certainly heard enough. Should have come to me straight away."

She paused, then raised her eyebrows at Disera. "He's really Cersis's brother?" She asked, cutting off and looking over her shoulder when she heard Kanec. She listened to him in silence, then exhaled through her nose. "I'll be right back. I need to go deal with this," She gestured at Kanec, then pulled up her hood and headed for the door.

It didn't take long at all for her to reach Kanec's van, and she paused outside it to look at Daniel. "What are you doing out in the rain?" She asked, her voice soft, gesturing with a hand to form a barrier that provide Kanac with the quiet he wanted. No intruders, not unless invited, anyway.

~~~
"Your always moving," Maya said, raising her eyebrows at Nylat and pulling her knees to her chin, frowning at how cold she felt. It was purely because of her still wet clothes, and she tightened the towel around her neck slightly. She looked back at Maccus, then shook her head and rubbed her face with the towel a little more.
She was taken somewhat by surprise when she was almost hit in the face with a large red sweater. She blinked, letting go of the towel so she could lift up the shirt and look at it. She secretely felt she'd probably drown in this thing. She managed to catch the pants, and simply looked at the garments in confusion. She was going to kill herself wearing these. It was just too bad she had little choice.
Going out into the rain would only get her more wet. With a fleeting pout, the girl held the clothes close to her chest, due to the fact they felt much warmer than she did, before slipping from the chair and strolling to the other end of the van. She made her way swiftly into the small bathroom that resided in the residence, and proceeded to change.
As comfortable as those clothes were, it didn't really take from the fact that they were just way too big on the young blonde. The shirt sleeves had to be folded so that she was able to make use of her hands, and the legs. Well. They were a lost cause. She tried a few times to roll them up, but they refused to stay.
Pouting, the girl folded her wet clothes over her arm, then walked back into the main room. She made her way, slowly, back to the chair. Crawling onto it, Maya pulled her legs up onto the chair, placing her wet clothes beside her. She went to picking at the little pitchfork zip, her wings pinned to her back under the warm sweater. "You know, Dravius. I don't think it's physically safe for me to walk around in these," She stuck one leg off the end of the chair, the pant way too long as she smiled sheepishly at him, almost wrapping herself in the top garments long sleeves.
Sitting there on the bed, under the harsh scrutiny of the Co-Master, Maccus cooly glared back, lean features highlighted all the more under the shadow of the tall man. "Name's Maccus." He responded curtly, only a trace of English accent hinting at his origins. "And if you've ever been hunted like I was, you'd tremble at the words Master and Co-Master too." Jerking his chin towards Maya, Maccus asked, "Who was it that brought me here? Tinkerbell, or Nylat?"
Not even waiting for an answer, Maccus continued on, voice growing heated every word he took. "Listen here buddy, I don't care how much of an enthusiastic, kind, and friendly 'Co-Master' you are." Maccus spat out, "But I don't really have a taste for being say, a show for people to goggle at and be forced to serve YOU. You know how much I hate normal people like you? I hate them with a pa.ssion. I loath them. So if you had any thoughts about sticking me into a box and making money off me, forget it. I've been under servitude and grief too long buddy, so I can snap any moment. Maybe I already have. So Mister Normal, let me thank you for keeping me dry, and for your... 'possessions' for saving me. That's it. I'd like to leave now." Swinging his legs off the bed, Maccus shoved past Dravius and stopped in front of Maya. "Good luck Maya."
Nylat was laying calmly, watching the Puppeteer with curious eyes for a while. When Dravius came over and started drying her off, she smiled, and sighed, watching the man again. He was a rather odd fellow, wasn't he? She closed her eyes, letting calm wash over her, until she heard him start ranting. Lifting her head and opening ehr eyes, she watched. She merely sat up where she was, in front of the door and cleared her throat. "Well, Mister Maccus. You seem to be missing something. A piece to the puzzle. And you aren't leaving until I see that nothing ill is said about our Circus out of ignorance." Flicking her tail, she unsheathed her claws, making it clear she was not joking.
"First off, Dravius brought you here. I am in no fit condition for carrying anything I can't with my mouth, and Maya--no offense--isn't strong enough. That I know of." She flicked her tail around her feet, bt pulled it close enough so that her claws were still visible.
"Secondly, you think Dravius is 'normal'? Anything but, really. You see, unlike some, Dravius's 'oddity', so to say, is not visible. Well, it is if you care to look close enough. He cannot feel pain. There is no true visible sign of that."
"Last, I belong to no one." Venom had now crept into her voice, and her eyes narrowed at Maccus. "I serve no one. Do you honestly believe anyone here does? Everyone is here of their own free will. We are not caged. Forced to be here--ha! Far from it. If I was a possesion, or a servant, I would not be here, and neither would anyone else, I'll bet."
She stepped from in front of the door, her eyes never leaving him, and her eyes hardening by the second. "As I said, we are free to come and go. So, go now, if you wish. I've explained what is needed. We will not be scorned by ignorance." Her voice had gotten no softer. If anything, harsher.
~~
Kanec followed Karene as she made her way to his van, flaring his wings and covering his head as the relentless rain poured from the skies. As she set the barrier, he gave Daniel a stern look. Sure, the rain had now washed all mud from his now-blonde hair, but he wasn't all too sure abotu Daniel sitting out here. As he sniffed and wiped his nose on his sleeve, Kanec was positive he was gonna get sick. The little boy just grinned at the two and pushed himself to his feet, going back in the van and picking up Snap at the door.
When Karene was done, Kanec smiled and nodded. "Thank you. Much appreciated."
After placing the magical barrier that would provide Kanec with the peace and quiet he wanted, the young woman watched as Daniel headed back inside, raising a questioning eyebrow before turning back towards the food van. She stopped immediately once she'd noted that Kanec had followed her.
"What?... Oh," She "pff'd" slightly, then chuckled under her breath. "Don't worry about it. It's not really a big deal." She shifted her hood so that it covered more of her face, then nodded at the shifter before pas.sing him, hands in her pockets. "Just call me back whenever you want it removed," She called over her shoulder, walking back through the pouring rain.
It didn't take her long to reach the food van, and she entered quickly, pulling down her hood as she entered and quickly shaking her arms. "Sorry about that," She murmered, coming to stand by Disera and removing the soaking coat she wore. "So, where were we?... Oh right. Pleasure," She added, saluting at Selvai, before picking up an apple.
~~~

Having got herself somewhat comfortable, Maya crossed her legs as well as she could in her current situation, turning her gaze to Maccus and Dravius over by the bed. She raised her eyesbrows at the strangers words, then looked with a small frown at Nylat. "I really wish he'd stop referring to me as Tinkerbell," She murmered, rubbing her splintered wrist with a pout.

She turned her gaze back to the two, looking slightly concerned aty Maccus's obvious agitation. "Your not... Being forced to do anything," She said quietly, using a hand to brush strands of gold away from her violet eyes. "If you want to leave, your able to."

Before the young woman could say much else, Nylat went off on one, explaining everything Maya had been about to. The blonde smiled somewhat gratefully at the hybrid, then looked back at Maccus when he stood in front of her. "She's not lying, you know. There isn't a single person in this Circus who isn't weird. Or strange. Every single one of us is like you, we stand out," She started picking at one of the overlong sleeves, glancing once at Maccus before choosing to keep her eyes were her hands were.

"No-ones forced to do anything here. Ever. This is our home, not a slave camp. But like I said before... You can leave whenever you wish to." She smiled slightly at him, then glanced at Nylat before slipping from the chair. Choosing to keep her life safe, she actually crawled the short distance to the hybrid, wrapping her arms around Nylats neck and placing her cheek against the hybrids soft fur. "Calm down, Nylat. You can't blame him. Those who don''t exist here don't understand," She spoke quietly, only loud enough for Nylat to hear her, before standing up and heading back to the chair, being sure to hold up the pant legs to avoid tripping.

Once settled, the girl folded her legs back on the chair, then sneezed. With a quiet grumble, she leant her head against the chairs arm, wrapping her arms around her waist and listening to the rain with a small frown.

Dravius nearly burst out laughing at the sheer sight of Maya trying to walk in pants of leg length made for him. "You'll be fine. It's just until your clothes dry, alright? Just don't trip." He grinned, smile suddenly wiped off of his face by Maccus' apparent anger. He turned back towards the man, deadly silent, and stony faced. He would have seemed entirely indifferent to the situation if not for the furrowing of his thin brows, and the slight curl that affected his lip. "Normal?" He spat, tone full of sarcasm and spite, eyes narrowing to angry slits.

As Dravius took a deep breath to tell Maccus exactly what he thought of the puppet-toting weirdo, sprinkled with expletives and plenty of hand signals, Nylat let loose with her own onslaught, and Dravius resorted and crossing his arms over his chest, chewing on the side of one of his pointer fingers. After Nylat was done, he said softly, "You've no idea of hunted, Maccus." He let the man's name fall from his lips as if it were something disgusting, clenching his fists.

He moved in order to avoid any contact with Maccus, growling slightly at the other's proximity. Dravius turned his head towards Maya at her sneeze, shaking his head slightly. "Don't want you getting sick," He murmered, digging in a side table that was cluttered with candles and gla.ss vials, and the sorts. "Might be a little to late to prevent, but doesn't hurt to try." He retrived a violently orane liquid, that seemed about the consistency of honey. "Here. Try this. Might wanna sleep out the storm." He added, rubbing his still-damp hair with one hand.

Dravius seemed to be now ignoring Maccus altogether, sitting on his bed with his back against the wall. His eyes seemed to go right through the male, and stright on to the flickering candles next to him.

"Never bring that horrid drink here again."

Catching sight of Dravius' rising temper, Maya forced herself back into a sitting position, still frowning, though the ex
pression was now directed at him. "Dravius... Don't worry yourself over it," She said, rubbing the side of her face with a sleeve and looking at Maccus.

"I'm sorry. He's had it rougher than most. I guess he just... Compares everyone else's issues to his own. Makes others problems seem not so bad, huh?" She paused, then smiled slightly. "If you want proof, why don't you explore the grounds... If you don't mind getting wet," Her words were interrupted by a violent shiver, though she continued regardless. "You'll see how everyone is here. None of them are forced. If you still think this place is one of slaves, then simply leave," She shrugged, pulling the sweaters long sleeves further down her arms.

With a sigh, the girl yawned, leaning over slightly to feel the state of the clothes she'd wore previously. They were still very wet. Though hoping they had dried already was probably a little too optimistic. Oh well. She had been focused on the gleaming white of her shirt when Dravius approached, holding out a vial of orange liquid. She blinked at it, then took it from him once she'd shaken her arm free of a sleeve. Taking a quick sip of the stuff, she shuddered and stoppered it, placing it quickly onto a nearby table before shaking her head.

The movement released the mas.s of hair held up, which had slowly been coming apart since Dravius had dealt with it. The golden strands were still damp, but only slightly, barely enough to notice on the surface. Feeling a little downtrodden with the atmosphere in here, she pulled herself off the chair again, walking slowly to avoid tripping on the pants and clambering onto the bed, flopping next to Dravius and just looking at him with a smile. Smile's were very good when it came to lighting dark moods. Usually, anyway.

She eventually looked back at Maccus. "If you do go and look around, be sure to talk to Raphael. He's our Ring-Master, and he's exactly the same as the rest of us. He can explain this place to you in more detail if you want to know," She paused, feeling another sneeze coming, only this one chose not to show. Huffing, she sat away from the wall, folding her legs under her and looking at Dravius. "You fever's okay now then huh?... I didn't have a chance to ask you earlier." She stopped, then smiled and held out her arms, sleeves hanging over her hands. Well. She was only trying to make him feel better. His darker moods were not usually pleasant.

Willow Kirks van was empty. The only sound present was the gentle hum of the generator, and the only light was that which had slipped through the cracks in the curtains. Unfinished foodstuffs was on the table. At first glance, upon coming into the van one would say it was just messy- the way it always was with Will. But there was something wrong. A slight sign of a struggle. Will's coffee pot was smashed on the floor. Gla.ss was scattered across the room, and the remnants of coffee that had been in the pot was splattered across the linoleum tiles. At first glance someone might have mistaken the brown splatters for dried blood, but it was not so. The room reeked of nothing but coffee and donuts.

They had gone quietly enough, wherever they had gone, with whoever had forced them. And the quietness would persist, for the sound of keyboard keys being hit, and the bubbling and growling of a coffee pot would never again be heard in the van. Probably because Will had made it very clear that her van was to be locked away if ever she suffered a disappearance. And someone was always watching; they would know she was gone.

Her curiosity got the best of her, as she a.ssumed it would eventually. It wasn't really fair for her to go too. Evan regretted getting her mixed up in it, and though he regretted much he had a feeling he might have regretted getting her involved the second most than what he regretted the most. Evan would say that maybe Yama was the only one that really deserved what happened, but would gladly have taken dear Boris's place. A decision wasn't allowed however. All or none.

It was a good day, despite the rain. Or at least it had started out that way. Will and Spider had been walking down the street, all smiles and pleasant jokes as they carried their groceries and other nice things. It was something as simple as turning a corner, and they were gone. Any that had been watching them, or walking beside them on the street would later question if they had ever really been there at all. Like ghosts, or old memories, they faded into nothingness.

The End.
