Julian. And what did he do? What was his specialty? Something to do with knives, she wagered. Knife throwing was normal enough for Circus standards. Perhaps he wasn't special at all. DeeDee dropped from her head, croaking in a way that sounded cranky as he settled his feet into her puffy sleeved shoulder. He had undone her hair tie again, and was going to retrieve it, for it had slid and almost fallen to the ground. The bird scooped it up and sat there, wings tucked in close as it stared at the strange little one that could talk to him, and the other stony-eyed person that reminded him of his Person. Though he wasn't decorated with pretty yellow things, so DeeDee didn't find him very interesting. Anaconda had ignored the bird completely. Though, a slightly miffed ex pression came over her face when her hair tumbled down. "Ooooh you would think that! But I'll concern myself anyway. Because it's not about me it's about everyone else and if I'm not going around giving out cards everyone will think nobody loves them and then everyone will be sad and—" Zephyr paused and inhaled quickly, "...I really don't like it when they're sad. Party? Oh, I love parties!" He did a little clap-hands-and-jump combo as he looked around. "That's perfect, you'll be able to meet everyone at the party." Zephyr said, looking at Anaconda. The girl shifted a bit, and her stare was pointed in his direction. Her lips formed a little line of disapproval. "I don't like parties." She said, flatly. "Thhbbbt!" Zephyr responded, and waved a hand, "Oh everyone loves parties." He said. And then paused, looking at Julian. He made a face. "Most people," He added. "And anyway if you don't like it you can always go do something else! But I need to be at that party and administer hugs to everyone before I can show you around anymore." Zephyr nodded in a very serious manner as he put his hands on his hips. ". . ." Said Ana. She supposed she could go. But only because so far Zephyr was the only one around here she felt comfortable around. It could always be worse. A party she could stand, for a little bit. "Besides I bet Florence would like going to a party." Zephyr piped up, smiling. "Wonder if he knows yet? Probably not. Not with all of the shoveling and heavy duffel bags he is no doubt lugging around. Anyway where're they holding the party? The big tent?" - - -
Florence dumped the last plant out into the hole and sighed. He had a personal moment of silence, and then started to shovel the hole back up. There were at least thirteen empty clay flower pots sitting around him. It really was a sad day. How could he have completely forgotten about his beloved plants? Nobody really noticed Florence's little grave yard work, so he went around unbothered. He would have thought it odd, but didn't question it. Though he wouldn't be surprised to know everyone was far more concerned over Valentines Day parties than they were with the crazy guy with the shovel. So he finished up, and went to work cleaning the rest of the van out. This required throwing open all of the windows, a spray bottle of bleach, and a silly looking pink bandanna he used to keep his hair out of his face. Despite the fact that this was a very big mess that hadn't been taken care of in forever, he was a very fast cleaner.

"Still," Kioko fidgeted on the bed. "I feel like I shouldn't have brought it up. Even if I didn't know about your past. It made you sad, and I was trying to cheer you up today," she said miserably. Swinging her legs unto the bed, the white haired girl crossed her arms, leaning on her elbows. After a few moments, the pyro looked back at Nylat, her gaze half hidden by her hair. "So. Do you want to do anything else today? Or just stay inside? Either is fine with me." ----- Disera returned Karene's snort with one of her own. "Hunh. You say that, but then you laugh. You're making me a bit suspicious, you know," she said good naturedly. She waved at Kisa as the Reader introduced the girl. "Hi. Nice to meet you." She glanced sideways at Kanec when the party was mentioned. Smiling at the other shifter's nervous state. Good to know she wasn't the only one embaras.sed right now. Turning in her seat when Kanec began to speak, Disera's eyes widened slightly at his invitation. "U-um," she stuttered for a moment, feeling her face begin to heat up again. "S-sure, that sounds like fun," the female shifter finally blurted out. She covered her face with her hands to hide the insane smile she could feel coming on. Peeking from between her fingers the shifter risked a glance over at Selvai and Karene, just in time to catch the new girl's taunting statement toward Karene, and the magic users question to Selvai. The magician had been sitting quitely, watching Kanec intently as he finally got around to inviting Disera to the Valentine's dance. Selvai smiled pleasently at the shifter when he briefly looked over at him, not missing the twitch of his ears or his red face. He shook the hand of the giggling, enthusiastic girl when Karene introduced her. "A pleasure to meet you, Kisa. I am Selvai Mayoso." He raised an eyebrow at the thinly veiled catty exchange between the two women, wondering if he would need to interrupt, when Kisa issued her challenge. The magician had little time to do anything but frown disaprovingly at the white haired woman, before Karene turned to him. "I... Didn't have any plans, no." he responded, after a moment of shock. "Would you like to accompany me to the dance?" he asked. He heard Disera snicker across the table, and turned to her with a sharp smile. "In fact, the four of us could go together. Wouldn't that be fun, Disera?" Needless to say, the shifter was less than pleased.

He really was just too happy about this. Alright, so it was Zephyr and that was, in all honesty, to be completely expected with him, but still. Julian just couldn't get himself anywhere near the cheeryness of that boy's mood. Of course that was hard to do anyway, not that he really made that much of an effort.
The dark haired man simply stood, listening to the Unicorn's rant, being absoloutely sure his ex pression didn't change in the slightest. Really. He wouldn't put it past Zephyr to keep to his word and go giving out cards to everyone. Not to mention giving each of them a 10 minute hug. He watched silently as Zephyr jumped up and down, seemingly ecstatic about the party idea, and glancing at Ana's response.
Maybe he hadn't given her quite enough credit. She seemed rather sensible.
Turning his gaze away from the girl and her bird to listen to the Unicorn further. Oh. There was the hugging comment. Well, he had been expecting it. "Outside." Was Julian's only response to the boy's question, before he shrugged, gesturing vaugely with one hand towards the pile of unlit firewood. The whole thing was beginning to take shape, a few tables here and there, as well as the still empty buffet table.
A few of the Circus members we're putting up lanterns in any shade of purple and magenta. Looked like some of the members weren't all that happy with an entirely pink/red theme. Ugh. Well. Good, probably. 'Cause that would just be corny. It wasn't too bad at the moment, in all honesty. There was actually very little in the way of the colour pink and love hearts, so it merely looked like any normal party with only the slightest hints of it being Valentine orientated. Julian was pretty sure that if the thing had been left up to the people who came up with this idea... Well... It would probably be a different story. God he would not want to be around at all if that was the case.
Exhaling, the Sword-Master glanced at the two in front of him, pausing his gaze for a moment on Ana. "Pleasure meeting you." He said, waving fleetingly at Zephyr before heading off towards where the party was supposedly taking place and sitting on a chair next to one of the Circus vans. Raphael wasn't anywhere to be seen. Probably off checking up on the members or something. He'd show up eventually, no doubt.
There wouldn't be much of a wait for this to finish now, anyway. The sky was tinged with orange, signalling the onset of dusk, and the bustle of activity that were members readying themselves for what they saw as an enjoyable night.
~~~
Kisa nodded in acknowledgement of Selvai with a smile, before turning her gaze back to Reader, her face amused.
Karene was so going to prove Kisa wrong. She barely even tried to contain a slight smile as she readied herself to ask Selvai to accompany her to the dance, only to be caught off guard when he asked first. Looking momentarily surprised, and with a thin brow raised slightly, she laughed. Quite the gentleman this one was turning out to be. Needless to say Kisa was looking rather surprised.
"But of course. Thank you for asking." With that said, she quickly threw him a thankful smile, the ex pression becoming just a little smug as she turned back to the white haired woman. Kisa was smiling and shaking her head. "Your such a spoilsport," She said, laughing quietly. "Oh well. One down, one to go."
"One to go?"
"A dress." Kisa's smile was both taunting and overly amused. Karene, who had seemed perfectly fine when pretty much facing the magician and preparing to ask him to the dance, looked suddenly very hesitant. It was likely the only people who even understood this ex pression we're Kisa and Disera. She was not, in any way, a dress wearing person. Skirts and pink we're also big no-no's.
"... Alright." She said, waving it off quickly, sounding confident and willing. Kisa, and the girls who accompanied her, seemed unsure of what to think. Well, she had been rather forward with getting that "date". Maybe she'd do the dress too. With a small shrug th white haired girl smiled at Selvai and Disera. "Nice meeting you both." She said, and with a wave, pretty much skipped out of the van with her friends following.
Karene watched her go, then sighed explosively and hit her forehead on the table, groaning. Great, That's all she needed. People seeing her in a dress. Oh god what had she done.
Dravius blinked slowly in the temprate van, watching the plants shift with insects landing and taking off. The sheer amount of insects inside the van was actually quite stunning, as some of the examples of butterflies were rather exotic. He brushed a bit of dried gras.s off of his foot, listening to Maya's trailing speech, noting the ex pression on her face. "I didn't think you did," He answered her slightly indignant response, putting his arms down. "Was just kidding..." He murmered, looking slightly crestfallen. He had let his diagonally cut bangs cover all of his bad eye, which happened to be facing Maya, resenting her with a blank, black and white curtain in front of his ex pression. At Maya's question, Dravius put his chin back on his knees, staring into the foliage around the room. He opened his mouth slowly, saying, "I think it was mainly when I ended up sitting in my van for a while. I realized that I really missed you, and everything about you. I missed everyone, but I just missed you the most. And then, when you tried to leave..." He hesitated, rubbing an eye with the heel of his hand. He turned and wrapped his long arms around Maya, hugging her tightly to him. "I really am sorry." He murmered, loosening his embrace slightly, keeping his arms lightly around Maya's waist, pressing his forehead to hers. "Do you want to go to the dance with me?" Dravius asked, kissing her on the cheek, sighing slightly. He pulled her closer again, pressing his face into her hair.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."
Blinking at Dravius' words and his ex pression, Maya's own ex pression become just a tad worried. "Oh... No. Dravius, I wasn't being serious," She said with a slight smile, prodding him in the side with one of the black and red balls in an attempt to make him feel better. She didn't honestly think he thought she'd actually stolen the things from him. And she felt rather guilty for making him look as upset as he had. She watched him for a moment in the hopes of making sure he was recovering a little from that mood, placing the juggling balls to one side as she did. When he started speaking again she glanced back, her face careful. She listened to his words with a little frown. "You mean... After the attack?... When you stayed locked up for eight month?" She wasn't too sure when he meant. Dravius had locked himself away plenty of times, but that was the only real era where he had been almost entirely seperated from the Circus, and that one had lasted a long, long time. The reminder made her shudder slightly. She'd been essentially worried the entire duration. "I... Missed you too. A lot." She added with a slightly wan smile. "It was so hard going so long without just being around you. You were never yourself even when you came out of your van." She paused, idly wondering whether or not Dravius had actually spoken of this before. She doubted it, somehow, but she could have been wrong. Sighing quietly, she clung to Dravius when he hugged her, her hands holding onto the materia of his shirt. "Guess a lot changed... What with-" She paused again. She didn't particularly want to mention the name Break,and instead make a funny little sound to cover it, burying her face in his chest for a moment. "A lot happened. You had... More to deal with after finally pulling yourself together... When... He, almost left with you, back at the beach. Took a lot for you to fight back, huh?" Landing her gaze on the floor, the butterfly looked up at the Co-master with a sad little frown. "I was scared we we're going to lose you. That I was going to lose you. I didn't want to leave, I just... Didn't want to face anymore of it. Just being around you hurt because all I could think was "what if"". She listened to the rest of his words in silence, and actually smiled slightly at him when he kissed her on the cheek. "Who else would I go with?" She murmered inn reply, allowing herself to just lean against Dravius' body, breathing lightly into the front his shoulder.
Daniel, after a bit of wandering around, caught sight of Zeyphr--whom he only knew from the deions Kanec had given him--and some girl he hadn't been told about, or had forgotten about in his illness. Sniffling, he decided it was best to introduce himself, as was only kind. He walked up to the two just as Julian left (he hadn't noticed him) and smiled a bit. " 'ello there. M'name's Daniel." He would normally have not walked up so willingly to people, but Kanec had told him to meet as many people as he could and, under his smile, he was really not appreciating that advice. After a moment he noticed DeeDee and his smile became genuine. "Ah, 'ello there bird. Your name be?" ((I hate typing for Daniel. Sososososososomuch. *grammer freak*)) ~~ Nylat shook her head, then bit at her foreleg, trying to get the bandages off. She couldn't stand it anymore. "I 'm 'ite fi'e 'ith 'alking a'out i'. No 'orrow jus' 'atred. And you 'efina'tly 'eered me 'p." She finally got the bandage to tear, and peeled it off her leg, licking her leg like a cat to fluff it out. Then she continued. "I would like to stay here a bit longer, but I don't want to stay cooped up in here forever." ((Translation: I am quite fine with talking about it. No sorrow, just hatred. And you definantly cheered me up. ;D)) ~~ Kanec vowed silently that Selvai was enjoying this way too much and he was going to have to get him back somehow. But he'd figure that out eventually. At that point he just smiled at Disera, garing upward a bit when Kisapatted his head, his ears flat. "Hello Kisa." He, however, turned suddenly suprised when he flicked an ear to catch Karene's question, then Selvai's response. Today was just a crazy day, even in the life of the Circus. When Selvai mentioned all four of them going together, he let his head hit the table, ears down, and let out an audible groan. Just great. Seemed as if Selvai couldn't trust him. After he caught the implication that Karene was going to be wearing a dress, he had to stifle a laugh. Never had he seen her in a dress, and never had he expected her to. Tonight was surely a night for a camera. When Kisa left, he let out a sigh. He never really cared for her. She was always twisting others to do as she wished. It was rather annoying. He glanced up through one of the windows and flicked his ears in distaste. They'd lingered too long. If they went to town, it'd have to be a short visit. But he did need to go into town. He released Disera's hand and stood up, glancing at Selvai and Karene breifly. "I would love to stay and chat, but there is still a town to visit, right Disera? And if we're to be back in time, we must leave now." He strted for the door, waiting for Disera. He probably could have waited, but he wanted an excuse to get out of the food van.
Kioko slid off the bed with a sigh when Nylat began to chew at her bandages. "You really should leave that on," she said as she moved over to sit on the floor next to the bed the hybrid was laying on. It took her a moment to decipher her mumbled words, and the pyro smiled slightly. "If you're really okay then. I'll guess I'll stop feeling bad about it." Kioko laid her arms on top of the mattress, leaning on them as she thought about Nylat's next words. "Well," she started slowly. "I heard some of the circus members talking earlier. Raphael's having a party tonight... Neither of us can really dance in the shape we're in, but we could go and hang out. Maybe talk with the other circus members. Only if you want to, of course." -------- "Yeah. Fun," Disera scowled at Selvai across the table. "Figures you'd suggest something like that," she continued in a lower voice. Even the thought of the normally tomboyish Karene wearing a dress didn't bring her much enjoyment, even though she did smile slightly. Maybe if the magician was busy with his own date he wouldn't bother the two of them. She could hope, anyway. The female shifter sighed slightly when Kanec's head met the table. She felt pretty much the same way about Selvai's statement. Disera glanced up at Kanec as he stood up from the table. "Oh! Right, we should get going. See the two of you later," she said to the pair of magic users. "Karene, don't let Selvai step on your feet at the dance tonight. And you," the blue skinned woman pointed at the male magician. "Just. Be nice." Disera glared meaningfully at him before stepping outside the food van to meet up with Kanec. Standing beside the winged man, she slipped an arm through his. Fidgeting with the fur on the jacket collar, it took her a moment to figure out the right thing to say. "If it helps any, I don't think he's acting like this because he distrusts you," she began. "If that were the case, I doubt you'd be able to get anywhere near either of us," the shapeshifter continued as they walked. "Selvai's just kinda... Weird when he gets all protective, you know?" -------- "You are very welcome," Selvai replied. He raised an eyebrow at Karene and Kanec's similar reactions, simply shaking his head in confusion. Surely they were both overreacting a bit. As Kanec and Disera left Selvai waved goodbye to the two shifters silently, raising an eyebrow at the dark blonde woman next to him. "She's quite pushy, isn't she. Kisa, I mean. From your reaction, I suppose you dislike the dress stipulation of the dance, hmm?"
Dravius nodded at both of Maya's preliminary questions, looking slightly worried behind his hair. "Yeah. I really hate Break," Dravius grimaced, tightening his embrace for a second or two. He listened to her silently otherwise, keeping his one eye on hers, and bit his lip hard enough to draw blood when she finished, saying, "It's remarkable what harm those two words can do, huhm?" He sighed, pressing the side of his face into Maya's smooth golden hair. Inhaling deeply, he grinned when she answered regarding the dance, grabbing the stuffed butterfly and saying, "I don't know, Brandon's pretty handsome." He wiggeled the butterfly at her, pulling back just a little to grin wolfishly at her. "I'm actually looking forewards to this," Dravius murmered, snuggling back towards Maya, watching the butterflies continue their slightly dizzy dance, falpping up and down. It was almost disorienting to watch that sheer number. The male blinked and shook his head slightly, dragging his gaze away from the insects,and back towards Maya. "Maya, can we go outside? It's a nice day, and I want to help with the setting up." He asked, tugging on a bit of Maya's hair, then swiftly braiding it, suddenly asking, "Why do you keep your hair this long?" He tilted his head to the side, interspersing her long mane with plaits, eyes slightly hooded. He actually looked quite drowsy, although that might have just been his usual ex pression... ((Fail. -Facefloor-))
Karene had still had her head on the table when she heard Kanec speak, and shifted so that she could look at him, her ex pression apprehensive. Well, whatever. Wasn't like she could pull out now, she'd already pretty much said she'd do it. Naturally, of course, she was still moping about the dress issue.
"Alright," The young woman responded, pulling herself back into a sitting position and waving at Kanec as she left. Blowing a strand of hair out of her eyes, the caramel-haired woman watched Disera silently as she addressed Selvai, before smiling slightly at the blue shifters words directed at her. "Pff. Don't worry about it. I'm sure he's not that bad a dancer." Despite wallowing about things that really shouldn't have mattered all that much, Karene had in fact noted what Selvai had said earler, and both Shifter's reactions to it. It was only now though she actually thought about it.
"You know," She said after Disera had left, dropping the book she still carried onto the table in front of her. "It's not so bad to leave those two alone for a bit, is it?" She raised her eyebrows slightly as she turned her head to look at the Magician sat next to her. "I understand you may be worried about Disera, but it was bound to happen eventually. And Kanec is probably one of the better choices of the Circus, if I'm honest." Lips twitching, she turned back to the table just as Selvai asked his question, exhaling through her nose.
"Ah yes. Pushy she can be. You kinda get used to it" Karene shrugged. "... I think you kinda have to get to know her first before you can actually say that though." Snorting quietly, she flinched a little when the Magician decided to mention the dress issue. "It's really not... Even that much of a problem, really. I'm just not a dress wearing sort of person. I'll get over it, I'm sure... It's only one night, after all."
Her tone of voice, however, really didn't do anything for her spoken statement. Shaking her head, she sighed quietly and stood, picking up her book and placing it under one arm. "Why don't we go look for Raphael?... Maybe we can help out with sorting things,"
She paused, glancing towards the food van window and noting the orange tinged sky, which was slowly but surely becoming a light shade of purple. "Although... Perhaps we might actually be a little late for that." She spent another moment in silence, then shrugged. "Alright, nevermind." Smiling, she turned back to Selvai. "I'll see you a little later, then." With a wave, the Reader turned and left the food van, making her way towards her own once she got outside. The air was warm, and very calm, quite a nice night for a party slash dance.
It was only then she wondered whether or not she actually had a dress to wear tonight. Oh, well. She'd have to wait and see, she supposed.
~~~
"Those two words. Yeah... If your like me and you tend to focus on those things too much." Maya smiled, pulling herself a little away from Dravius so that she could look at him, her arms still around his waist. She hugged him further when he nuzzled into her hair, sighing quietly.
She looked slightly taken aback when the Co-Master retrieved the stuffed butterfly he'd made earlier, waving it around in front of her. She could only look at him in confusion. Brandon?... Oh what the- He'd gone and named it, hadn't he?... Snorting, Maya stifled a laugh, smiling. "Yes. He is. I doubt he's much fun to go to a dance with, though... He's a little unresponsive." She prodded the plushie butterfly's soft body with a finger, then gently pulled it out of Dravius' hands and placed it on the bed.
"Looking forward to it?" She asked, looking back at the tall male and still smiling slightly. "Funny. You had a distinct lack of enthusiasm earlier." She went to picking lightly at his shirt as he moved towards her again, eventually wrapping her arms around him when he asked another question.
"Uhm. 'Kay." She responded, pulling away from him and glancing towards the open door. "It's sunset though... There might not be much more to do." Maya had still had her eyes on the view outside when she felt something tug on a strand of her hair, and looked back in time to watch Dravius start braiding it. "I prefer it this way," She answered, looking at the strands of gold that fell onto the dark green of the duvet beneath her. "My... Mom, used to say it suited me more than shorter hair." Shrugging, she smiled back up at the Co-Master. "I suppose I just got into the habit of never cutting it. Besides, it looks nice when I perform." She paused, then added, "It seems to entertain you enough anyway." As she watched him plait it further, her face amused.
After a moment or two, the blonde pulled herself aaway a little, idly noting his own hair. "Speaking of hair. Your starting to look like the old you." She murmered, reaching forward with a hand and pulling lightly on a strand of mostly black hair, the tip of which looked bleached. "Oh, and for the record, Brandon's not the only one in here who's rather handsome." She laughed, lifting herself up a little to kiss him softly on the lips before wriggling out of his arms and off the bed. She walked over to the open door, and jumped the stairs.
It really was rather nice out here, the sun setting some distance away, sinking just beyond the large wood far out in the distance; Maya flared her wings a little, as well as stretching her arms as she turned back to the door. "Come on then, Mr.Wolfe." She said, smiling at him through the doorway.

Nylat licked her leg a bit more, then set it down against the ground, testing it a bit, and nodding in satisfaction before returning to fluffing out her fur. "I'd love to go, really. It'd be nice to chat with some of the other members. I haven't really talked to many lately. Aside from our newest and our oldest. I'm being neglectful." She flicked her tail, and leapt from the bed, sitting beside Kioko and laying down, her head in the girl's lap. She heaved a sigh, glancing out the window. "And until then?" ~~ Kanec nodded as Disera explained Selvai a bit, his ears flat. Not back, just flat. He walked in silence a bit before answering. "I know, but I still wish he'd be a bit easier to deal with. Well, I guess it can't be helped." He flared a wing for a moment, just briefly, then folded it tight again. It was a habit he had for when he was thinking. He ruffled his feathers for a moment before sighing, before glancing at Disera. "Anything you want to do in town? I need to get something, but it might take a bit to find. If you want to do or get anything, it would best to do so first." He flared his wing and furled it again, still thinking.

"That's good. I was afraid you'd want to shut yourself up in the van and skip it," Kioko replied with a smile. She shook her head at the hybrid's last statement. "Alot has been happening lately, though. You can't really be blamed for not keeping up with everyone. It doesn't make you neglectful. Not to me, anyway." The pyro shifted a bit to get more comfortable as Nylat settled her head in her lap. Kioko ran her fingers through the hybrid's fur, thinking. "Feel like a walk around the circus? Or we could go sit outside the van, it doesn't really matter to me." ------ Selvai winced a bit at Karene's question. "I suppose I am overreacting a bit, aren't I?" He sighed. "But, since I summoned her, I am responsible for Disera's safety. I've gotten accustomed to watching out for her. I'm sure you can understand a bit, considering the encounter the two of you had with Cersis in the past." The magician's eyes strayed over to the door that the pair had just exited. "Although, you do have a point. If it was going to happen, Kanec would probably be the best choice. And I should be easier on him. Disera's likely upset with me for what I said." He rubbed at a line near his eye. "I'll apologize to the both of them tonight." Looking back at the dark haired woman, he raised an eyebrow when she visibly flinched, nodding when she explained her reluctance to wear a dress. "Understandable. My older sister hated anything slightly femine growing up. It was a battle of wills for our parents to coerce her into a dress at formal gatherings." He stood along with her, picking up his plate from the table. "Yes, I'd imagine everything is nearly completed." Selvai returned her smile as he took the dishes over to the bin. "I shall see you then. Good-bye," the magician told her as she left the van. ------- "Hopefully he'll stop being weird soon," Disera replied. "If not, I'll just hide all his spell books again until he agrees to be nice." She leaned slightly against him as they walked. At his question, she looked up at the other shifter, fidgeting nervously. "Um, there is one thing... But you don't have to come with me if you don't want to. I'll go deal with my things while you look for whatever it is you need. Kay?" she smiled.

Dravius grinned when Maya took the butterfly plushie away from him, and laughed quietly, pressing his face into her hair. "I'm not much of a better dancer, May." He vaguely felt her pulling at the material of his shirt, and looked down to see her picking threads off of the front of his clothing. "Well then, we can watch the sunset, right?" He listened to Maya's explanation, then added, "I don't think it would look as nice short. Also, I wouldn't be able to braid it like this." Dravius moved on to another section of the girls hiar, creating a pattern around the crown of her head. "Huh. I don't really notice." Dravius flicked his eyes upwards, staring at the white tips of his hair. "It grows so fast, I don't really pay it much attention..." His short laugh was cut off by Maya pressing her face to his, and stood up behind her. He looked at her standing in the doorway, felt a smile growing on his face, and trotted toawrds Maya, catching up with her quickly with his long strides. The sun bled red and purple into the sky, a beautiful sight in the fading light. "I love sunsets," He murmered, turning towards Maya and adding, more quietly, "But not nearly as much as I love you." With that, he enfolded her hand in his, walking towards the glow from purple and dark pink lanterns. The party had grown, infecting most of the camp, lanters swiveling slowly in non-existant wind, casting light high into the sky. Arriving at the main site for the party, Dravius spotted a mas.ssive amount of food wieghing down the buffet tables, a huge bowl of punch taking up almost half of the space. Dravius was a fan of punch. He sat down at a table,breifly letting go of Maya's hand. "Looks rather nice, don't you think?"
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."

Having spent a good portion of his time sat by the van watching other members deal with minor party issues, Julian noticed seemed to notice very little up until the point Raphael re-appeared. The Sword Master was a little surprised by the blonde Illusionists dress code.
He was, basically, wearing somewhat formal, which was rather unusual for Raphael. He wore a pair of black pants, with a white long sleeved, untucked button shirt, and a black tie. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled to just below his elbows. "Why, hello there." He greeted with a wave. "I wasn't expecting you to show up at all tonight." The Ring-Master grinned, earning a non-commital snort from Julian.
"I probably won't stick around. I simply wanted out of my van for a while."
"Of course," Raphael replied, waving a hand and glancing around at the gathering members. The sky had gone from orange to vivid red, marbled with purple and an oncoming darkness. The lowering light meant that the lanterns glowed, and the field in which the set up had been put together looked absoloutely splended. "You might want to stay out here though." He added, almost as an afterthought. "Tonight will be a pleasant experience."
Shrugging, the blonde waved a hand again, then headed off in another direction, leaving the Sword-Master to carry on his silent observations.
~~~
Stood outside her van with her eyes skyward, Maya barely noticed Dravius emerge until he spoke, and smiled over her shoulder at him. "I do too." She responded, glancing back at the sky before flaring her wings again. The colour mimicked that of the sunset, minus the purple, and burned vividly in the now darkening light. Pulling them against her back again, she looked a little surprised at the Co-Masters next words, unable to even slightly restrain the smile that resulted of those words.
She probably would have kissed him again, had he not chosen that moment to grasp her hand and walk towards where the party was being held. The blonde walked alongside him willingly, contenting herself with just being as close to Dravius as physically possible, seating herself next to him when he came to a stop.
"It does like nice." She answered, violet eyes on a lantern above her head. "Nicer with you here though." She added, smiling at the Co-Master. For a moment, the girls gaze was focused entirely on him, until she spotted an approaching figure from behind, and started giggling. "Very smart." She laughed, folding her arms on the table in front of her.
Raphael shrugged, leaning an elbow on Dravius' head. "Formal wear is a must, apparently. Or, at least... A little formal." He smiled, glancing off towards the open field. The huge stack of wood had not yet been lighted, but that wasn't likely to happen until a little later anyway. Maya, who had been smiling pas.sively, suddenly spoke up again.
"Oh... Of course. I'll be back in a bit, 'kay?" She said to Dravius, waving quickly at Raphael before slipping off the chair and sprinting back the way she had come. The Ring-Master watched her leave, then flopped into another empty chair, stretching his arms above his head. "Well. Tonight should be fun, hm?" ~~~ Practically jumping into her van once she reached it, Maya headed straight for the closet. As far as she was concerned, if Raphael was making an effort, she probably should too. Besides, it had been a while since she'd had the chance to go all out with anything. Rummaging around for a bit, she eventually found what she was looking for, throwing it onto the bed before catching sight of herself in the mirror that resided in her closet. She had, initially, planned to do something with her hair.Only now, that seemed somewhat pointless. The Braiding Dravius had done earlier pretty much covered it. The plait that met at the back of her head melted away into the rest of her hair, the smaller plaits visible through the golden strands. It really was rather well done, she had to admit. Smiling, the butterfly quickly closed the closet, before closing the van door shortly after. It didn't take her long at all to change into the dress she'd haphazardly thrown out of the closet. It was a plain, floor length cream coloured dress, strapless and simple. She also wore simple, string sandals, and the silver pendant that had been a gift from her mother. She looked, in truth, stunning as she was. Golden hair falling freely down her back, the material of the dress falling like liquid towards the floor. She spent a moment looking at her pendant, before doing a happy little jump and running back out of her van. It took her all of two minutes to get back to where the party was being held, and she practically threw herself back into the chair next to Dravius. Raphael looked somewhat startled by her sudden appearance, but simply laughed quietly. "Very nice." He commented, a little taken aback by the young womans appearance. She seemed to have a natural knack for that sort of thing. ((LOL. I just lost my brain juice. o_o))
Nylat glanced up through the window again, watching the oncoming darkness as Kioko spoke. She flicked an ear. "I know. But I usually keep tabs on everything that goes on. I need to catch up. As for locking myself inside, why would I when I could see what I wrought, eh? Come on." She stood and padded over to the door, unlocking it with a flick of her nose and pushing it open with her front paws. She bounded out a ways, then turned and waited for Kioko, full of energy now that she could use all four legs. She leapt into the air, running in a circle, before calling back to Kioko, her voice joyful. "Come now, don't want to be late!" ~~ Kanec smiled at Disera's plans for Selvai, but made no comment. WHen she mentioned going on her own, he bit his lip beforenodding. "Okay, that's fine by me. Just...don't get into trouble. I promised Selvai I'd keep an eye on you. But..." He glanced at the sky. "That might be best. Meet me back at the Circus? We'll be a bit late as it is, but I don't want to keep anyone waiting too long. No doubt at least Selvai and Karene will be." ((fail))
Dravius grinned at Maya, before adopting an ex pression similar to regular teenager subjected to something similar to chores, or homework. He moved his head quickly out from underneath Raphael's elbow. "Don't do that, 'kay thanks." He said, almost teasingly. "Formal..." He muttered, rubbing his forehead. "I hate formal," He murmered, even more quietly, getting up with a stretch, just as Maya came racing back, making him jump slightly. Jesus. "Uhm. I'll be back shortly," Dravius said, pausing to flick his hair out of his face. A few minutes took him to his van, where he was rifling through his narrow closet, clothing heaped around even more than usual. With an "Aha!" Sound of triumph, pulled out a remarkably wrinkle-free dark red shirt, with grey pin stripes, and dug cuff links that were made of polished onyx. Shrugging into the shirt and a pair of black pants in surprisingly good shape, with only a few dark ink splatters around the hems, Dravius ran his fingers through his hair, not bothering to tuck in his shirt, and grabbing a black fedora, plopping it on his head. He hopped slightly as he pulled on a pair of plain black shoes, then trotting out, plain black tie in hand. Dravius fastened the tie around his neck quickly, saying, "Happy, Raphael?" He shoved Raphael with a grin, his slight slouch bringing him about even with his friend, although they seemed opposites in every other way. "You look really nice," He grinned wider at Maya, sitting down next to her and kissing her on the cheek. He had, along the line, acquired a heavy silver ring studded with stones that matched his cuff links, which the twirled on his finger almost compulsively, which seemed to distract him from picking at his fingers, at least.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."
[[[fff motivation. okay so i think the only one interacting with my characters is Daniel. if i ignore someone, pinch me.]]
Zephyr rolled his eyes at Julian. His one weakness; love. Any bit of that gets anywhere near his system and Julian was going to just break out in hives and then die. Well, at least he never went out of his way to make anyone else feel awful. Just personal simmering self-doubt and fear or whatever it was that was going through his head. Zephyr started counting off how much time was left in the day and how many people there were. If he hugged each person for five seconds... "'Ello" he heard. Zephyr turned to look at the newer small person. "Well hello there, Daniel! Oh you must be... oh well then you're feeling better! That's very good. I'm Zephyr." Prime opportunity for a hug. But Zephyr could sense discomfort.
He knew when he'd only make things worse.
Anaconda, in simple enough terms was highly offended that Daniel asked for DeeDee's name before hers. So she remained silent as she stared at this boy. She didn't like what she saw. Mostly because of the vampire fangs he was sporting and the horrible death only she could see. DeeDee turned his head to look down at the boy (though he wasn't that far away as far as height) and clicked his beak. "Well," the bird said. "Someone else who can appreciate my conversation skills." DeeDee clamped the ribbon down under his talons and let out a croak.
"Daniel Human, my Person likes to call me Dee Dee." He continued, "And I'm fine with that. It is a nice thing to meet you, Daniel." The bird had considered giving him his real name but that was too long, and he wasn't all that fond of it anyway. Zephyr only smiled. Anaconda's scowl had turned to one of bewilderment as her friend croaked and clicked and all the while Zephyr and Daniel were giving him their attention. He was a very amazing and smart bird, but this was just odd. She remained ever vigilant in her silence, though now she was afraid the bird was going to be the one that talked and people flocked to while she was the noble steed that hauled him around on her head. Ana started to try and tug the ribbon out from under DeeDee's grip, because if that was the case her hair was going to be tied up. - - -
"A party? It's Valentines day? Remind me never to go to Jacobsons again. I think I've lost a week." Florence rubbed his bandanna over his face and sighed. "But I've been so busy cleaning for my wicked step mother and sisters that I didn't have time to sew my dress for the ball." Florence put a hand to his face in despair. The Circus member standing outside of his van stared at him. She was unsure of what to say. "Now I'll never get to dance with Prince Charming!" ". . ." Florence dropped his hand from his face and looked down at her. Barely any response. He wasn't sure what he was aiming for anyway. "I'll go put my good slacks on then, thanks for the invitation!" The door was gently slammed in her face. She stuck her hands in her coat pockets as both of her eyebrows shot up. Florence had always been a bit strange. But that's why they loved him. - - -
The outfit Florence was wearing as he strutted down the gra.ssy walk was almost exactly the same thing he was wearing before. This was because Florence was always dressed nicely. But he preferred a more business casual approach, so he was wearing nice clean black slacks, a burgundy turtle neck, some very shiny shoes, and his jacket. He loved and hated dressing up. The reason was far too horrible to admit, so he pushed it out of his mind. His hair had been combed back, as usual. Though this time a lot less gelled up. He stood on the outskirts of the party location, looking around. He thought he could see Ana and the Hugglemonster over there, and relaxed a bit. Good, she hadn't gotten lost. Though really he wasn't worried about her being lost but mostly about losing her. Florence sighed through his nose and blinked around at the people milling about. "Am I under or over dressed?" He wondered out loud, to no one in particular.
"Alright." Waving as Dravius upped and left, Raphael turned his gaze elsewhere in order to watch the other gathering members. The sky, which had been a marble of red and purple, was slowly but surely being overtaken by a dark sheet of deep, night blue. The lanterns that had been placed around camp glowed pleasantly, the warm light diffusing and casting berry-like colours through the rustling material to stand out against the darkening backdrop.
The Ring-Master could only smile at the look of anticipation on many of the emerging member's faces, each one of them donning some extent of formal wear. That wasn't to say it was ultra formal, as it was actually quite the opposite, but many of the members had wanted to make a big deal out of it for one reason or another. Well, it wasn't often they celebrated something they might clas.s as a minor holiday. Saying that, Valentines's was probably a little more than just minor to some people, so celebrating it in this fashion didn't seem like such a bad idea. It gave them all a chance to just let loose after the utter disaster of the beach vacation. Although that, really, only applied to the older members and whoever else actually managed to get themselves involved.
Sighing through his nose, Raphael pulled his eyes away from the sparse crowd just as one member finally managed to get the music going, keeping it at a steady volume so that the buzz of conversing members could still be heard above the flowing notes.
"So," The blonde Illusionist said lightly, placing an elbow on the small round table and resting his chin on a hand; His gray eyes on Maya. The Butterfly had been in the process of fidgeting with the silver locket that hung around her neck when he spoke, lifting her eyes to "Hm?" at him.
"This issue with your mother. Surely your not planning on pas.sing up this chance to see her?" He inquired, his ex pression lacking in any sort of Raphael cheery-ness that might have made Maya just a little more comfortable being asked. After a moment of silence, she simply shrugged in response, going back to her locket as she replied, her voice quiet.
"No... I'm... Going tomorrow. To see her, I mean... Though it wasn't entirely my idea." She pulled a face, her ex pression torn between frowning and pouting. She'd actually completely forgotten about that little hiccup, and was feeling nervous again now that she'd been reminded. Chewing lightly on her lip, she went back to looking contemplatively at the violet lantern that resided pretty much over her head, listening in silence to the Ring-Masters next words.
"... You didn't want to see her?"
Maya shook her head, pulling her gaze back blonde male and smiling slightly, crossing her wrists on the table. "No... It wasn't that. I was just nervous, that's all. And then Dravius went and got all "I wanna meet your mom" on me. I didn't stand much of a chance at that point." She laughed, the sound quiet and unsure, before she added, "I'm still a little... Scared, I guess... But if Dravius is with me I think I can handle it." The golden-haired young woman stared at her hands for another minute or two, then smiled reas.suringly at Raphael, who returned the ex pression with his own just as the Co-Master reappeared.
The blonde Illusionist snorted, leaning back a little in his chair and draping his arms over the backrest. "You know. Formal wear actually suits you. It's just too bad you don't wear it more often. Nothing quite like a good first impression." He chuckled, as Dravius seated himself back at the table.
Maya had watched the tall males approach with a genuine smile, one that practically glowed at his comment. "Why thank you. You don't look too bad yourself." She laughed, nudging him with an elbow. At that moment, a clap across the table caused her to focus her attention on Raphael, who was sat with his hands together.
"Well!" He said rather flamboyantly, pushing himself to his feet using the table. "Be right back." He did a funny little salute directed at the two of them that made Maya giggle, then strolled off towards where the buffet table was situated. The table itself wasn't really his set destination, as he came to a pause beside Florence, who was looking remarkably like he usually did. "Yo. Nice to see you here. I thought you might have been busy with-" He stopped, then raised an eyebrow after a moment of glancing around. "-getting your little companion used to the place... Where is she, anyway?"
The Butterfly watched the Ring-Master leave with an amused face, before bringing her gaze back towards Dravius, who was looking, she had to admit, pretty darn good in that fedora. She snorted with quiet laughter, then leaned over and hugged him, wrapping her arms around his neck and being sure to bring his hat with her when she pulled away. "I didn't know you had one of these." She said, holding the item at arms length and looking at it, before putting it on her own head and smiling at Dravius.
She managed to go an entire minute trying to ignore how she most likely looked wearing it, before she eventually thought about it anyway and burst into a fit of quiet laughter.
((Aw. Poor Ana. D:)) Daniel grinned enthusiastically when Dee Dee returned the greeting. "Good to 'eet, Dee Dee. You 'oo Zephyr." His green eyes flashed joyfully, and Snap and Lily then chose to come see who he was talking to. The boy scooped up his pets before setting Snap on his head and hugging Lily closer. He tilted his head curiously at Ana's not-so-pleased look. "What be wrong? 'An you not 'ear Dee Dee?" He had a thoughtful look on his face as he tried to remember if he'd been told about Ana, before coming to the conclusion he hadn't, or he forgot, and decided to give it a shot. "What 'e your name? 'Anec didn't say 'bout 'oo yet." ((Ugh. Kanec's next goal: Teach Daniel grammer. :|))
Dravius looked towards Raphael with a heavily sarcastic ex pression. "It wouldn't be formal after a few minutes. It'd be covered in paint and ink." He said flatly, leaning back in his chair slightly. "You do that, Raph." Dravius returned his odd salute, extending two fingers to do it. The male looked faintly amused when his hat was stolen, corners of his mouth twitching up. He almost burst into laughter when Maya put it on, mostly due to the fact that it was much too large for her. He grinned widely and lifted it off of her head, plopping it back on his own. "I don't wear hats often, but I own quite a few." Dravius nodded, settling all four legs of his chair on the ground. "You left your hair in that state I made it?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. He seemed still faintly amused, mouth curled up, as he hummed the "Ghostbusters" theme softly. The music interuppted his humming, and he looekd faintly annoyed at the fact, although he took about thirty seconds to pour two large glas.ses of punch, sliding one across the table to Maya. It only took one gulp for Dravius to spit the entire mouthful out, dark tongue hanging out of his mouth. "Ahhhh, someone's already spiked it. I don't know with what, though. Oh, oh great." He flailed a hand at the punch bowl goodnaturedly, hating the almost metallic tast of alcohol that still floated on his tongue. "Really? Well, then where's the normal punch?" He spat to the side, shaking his head. "Hate alcohol, hate hate hate. Do not want." He blinked once and then set the glas.s of punch down next to him carefully muttering, "Even worse than sugar." He shook his head again, hugging Maya once, then fixing the collar on his shirt, noticing that there were drops of ink on it, and tsking. "I honestly think I don't own anything without some kind of ink or paint on it." Dravius looked at the several people trying to get the bonfire going in the fading light, one of them succeeding in getting a corner to light, the blaze spreading quickly. "At least no one will get cold," He shrugged, trying to reagin some of his previous good mood, then taking a bit of cardstock, and scribbling- "OVER 21 ONLY" on it in his spiky sc ript with a black marker, and settling it in front of the heavily spiked punch. "That might help at least a little," He muttered, yawning slightly.
"Never bring that horrid drink here again." "It tastes of blue, not the river-dwelling reptile, as I had thought."
Kioko laughed at Nylat's sudden enthusiasm, using the bed to push herself to her feet. "Sounds good. Let's go, then." The pyro headed for the door, before seeming to reconsider. "Actually. Wait a minute, would you Nylat?" She shut the van door, limping over to the dresser beside her bed and picking through the few clothing items there. The teen changed her clothes quickly, swapping her normal clothing for a white, button up blouse with an embroidered design along the bottom hem and a pair of less tattered jeans. After running a brush through her hair, Kioko finally exited the van, heading down the steps to catch up with the hybrid. "Alright. Now I'm ready," she told her with a smile. -------- "Why is it everyone thinks I'm a troublemaker?" Disera grumbled good naturedly at Kanec's warning. "Seriously, you guys act like I'm going to start a riot if you leave me alone for too long. Don't worry so much about me," she told him as they reached the town. "I'll find what I'm looking for, and get back to the circus. No getting into trouble. I promise," the shifter said, letting go of his arm and heading down the street by herself. After a few minutes of searching the pink, over decorated store fronts (and ignoring the shocked and frightened looks of the towns people who were still out and about), Disera finally found what she was looking for. A cheerful bell jingled above the door of the clothing store as she entered, and the woman sitting behind the register glanced up from her magazine to see who had entered. The older teen's ex pression switched from bored to surprised to terrified when she caught sight of her customer. Disera waved, snorting quietly when the cashier stumbled off the stool she had being leaning on, staring wide eyed at the blue skinned shifter. Shaking her head slightly, Disera ignored the slack jawed girl in favor of heading down the aisle of the clothing store. The racks displaying the dresses were nearly empty, not surprising considering the holiday. She heard a small scuff several feet behind her, and wasn't surprised to see the clerk girl watching her from behind a display case at the end of the aisle. She smiled widely, throwing a snappy wave at the flustered girl before picking through the small selection of dresses. The shifter immediately dismissed the frilly, poofy and pink ones, which left only a handful to choose from. Disera went through the selection slowly, tails twitching in irritation when she continued to feel the salesgirl's eyes on her back. Finally fed up with the constant surveillence, the shifter grabbed the dress she had been examing last- a backless, black floor length dress- and marched to the register at the front of the store, smirking a bit at the cashier's flustered state. Having paid for the dress, Disera began to walk back to the circus grounds by herself as the light fully left the sky. She'd reached the small street where she and Kanec had parted and headed for the field, when she noticed a group of males further up the street, directly in her path. The shifter hesitated for a moment, debating internally, before finally crossing to the other side to avoid having to pas.s by them. "Hey! Smurfette!" one of the obviously inebriated men called out. Ignoring the verbal taunt, Disera sped up her pace, staring straight ahead without acknowledging the group or their catcalls. Pas.sing under a streetlight, the shifter halted, as the men began to cross the street to stand a few feet in front of her. "Hey, somethin' wrong with your hearin'?" the leader, a greasy faced, paunchy man who reeked of booze asked. "I was talkin' to you, girly. Is that a costume or are ya some kinda freak? Ya look like somebody made a smurf get it on with a deer." Seething, Disera clenched her fists, folding her wings close to her body. "Really. Because you look like your parent's were siblings," she growled. "Does the zoo know you're missing?" "What the hell'd you say?" Swaying on his feet, the man lurched forward, his round, pasty face turning red. "I'm in a hurry. Move." Disera ordered, wings flaring involuntarily. "Hey, girly. You outta be nice to us. See, it's Valentine's, and me and my friends are lonely, if you get my meaning." Snarling, the shifter dropped her bag, shifting into her canine form as she leapt forward, landing a foot away from the drunk. The group of men scattered, some yelling obscenities as they nearly trampled each other in their hurry to get away. Baring her teeth, she snapped her jaws once at the stragglers, before picking up the dropped dress. Sighing around the bag, Disera continued toward the circus, ears drooping. The shifter changed clothing quickly in her van, them returned to the edge of the circus grounds to await Kanec's return. She fidgeted, smoothing out the folds of the new dress, and trying to forget the unpleasent scene from before. Disera sighed again, trying to fake a smile for Kanec's sake. Maybe she should have stayed behind in the circus after all.
"I WISH THAT PUNCTUATION HAD A PHYSICAL FORM SO I COULD SMOTHER YOU WITH IT."
