OOC:// hybrid? that sounds interesting. o: i don't see anything against that. i believe that they would be on the human side in those circumstances, although i guess it depends entirely up to that specific demon character in the end. so yeah, i guess demons are a side breaker if you wanted them to be. c:

OOC:// thanks serenitysorrow. c: i always love the prospect of new players.
BIC:// Dirt and grime covered his entire being, hopefully to cover the human stench that apparently came off of him like cologne. A few weeks ago, the teenage boy had broken his right hand, the one he used to swing his machete around. Luckily it had been healing nicely, but he could still feel the bitter pain under his skin. Ace was actually surprised that he managed to survive after that terrible fall, which he managed to block with his entire right hand. He learned to never start a fire on a second story building again.
He could only think, that if he lived in small groups of other humans then maybe he'd be able to find some pain pills and more weapons. Ace quickly shrugged this idea off, however: he had seen the groups of people that lived together, and they were loud. Of course, they always tended to stay around the borders of the city, and the teenager didn't like to take the daily chances of getting shot by the government.
The boy's machete was being dragged loosely in his left hand lately, and he had to admit, he was getting better at swinging with that arm now. Carefully, he finished patting mud off his arms and picked once at his poor excuse for bandaging, deciding to risk going outside of the small building he was hiding in. There was a gas station up the street where he knew he could find conveniently packaged food, since he'd eaten all the good things out of the vending machines already and everything else didn't appeal to his fancy.
The sun blazed terrible heat onto the city, signaling the sleep of the vampire population. Ace knew better than that though. After all, underestimating the enemy left vulnerability, and he didn't want that. With his own eyes, the boy had witnessed a vampire attack in the day before, with that mental image of that poor human still stuck in his brain. Ace didn't want to become like his brother.
He shrugged his backpack (which contained the last of his possessions) off and dropped it near the wall for easy access: the boy planned on coming back to the empty work building as soon as he managed to gain food. After all, he was proud that he hadn't even smashed the place up yet. Ace took one last glance at the office cubicles, clutched his weapon closer to his body and, taking a deep breath, cracked open the door, shooting out into the sunlight and the deserted street.
He had to be quick and unnoticed. Quick and unnoticed, Ace repeated in his head.

((Sorry for the delay. My keyboard nearly short-circuited last night when I spilled water on it...))
At dawn, Kevia Bane found herself creeping silently out of the alley way, brushing the dust off of her shoulder and leaving behind the vampire corpse that she had claimed as a victim hours ago, before torturing him to death. She squinted at the radical change of lighting, annoyed at the unfortunate timing. She glanced back at the alley, and gave a small, satisfied smile as the vampire corpse dissolved into ash at the touch of light, erasing the trace of the beast forever. He had picked the wrong victim tonight.
As the sun reached its full size in the sky, no longer shielded behind the horizon, Kevia gave a yawn. She was used to a night schedule, since it was safer in this sort of town, and after sleeping during the day the majority of her life, the sun made her feel sleepy. She trotted down the street, as quickly as she could, as to avoid being noticed (other humans were almost as much as a threat to her as vampires) until she found the beaten down apartment building where her and some of the others of the tiny thieving clan made their homes.
She glanced around swiftly to check that no one was watching, and nearly did a double take when she saw a boy (Ace, just so it's clear) sneaking down the street as carefully as possible. Instinctively, Kevia crouched low and tried to remain unnoticed, though there weren't any nearby shadows to lurk in. She realized how silly she would look if he happened to notice her, so she ducked into the apartment building as quickly as possible. Dammit. He'd have to be blind to not have seen me. I don't want to kill him.
Kevia took a deep breath and listened at the door for footsteps, her empty gun drawn and sitting carefully at her waist, but her grip was tight with tension. If we have to relocate this place again, Zane'll kill me.
((Zane is the leader of Kevia's little thief guild. Just a random NPC I've invented. Want me to make a bio?))

Simon Bane uncrossed his legs as he finished braiding the little girl's hair, snipping the over-grown bangs carefully in front of her face to give her a stylish look. It was tough to forget the chaos surrounding them, and it wasn't right for children to be so burdened. Simon tried to do whatever he could to help his extended family forget.
"How are your parents, Lily? Did they eat yesterday?" Simon asked kindly, brushing the finished bangs to the side and giving a warm smile. The girl gave a sad-looking smile and shrugged, "I don't know. We got separated. Last night, they came by our house, and my dad told me to run, so I came here."
"Oh," Simon replied with a frown. The vampire attacks were getting more ruthless by the day. "Well, I'm glad you made it here. You'll never guess what I found," he said cheerily, trying to divert the girl's mind.
"What is it?" she asked, obviously interested.
"I found some cookie dough. The next door neighbors were willing to part with it, so they gave it to me. Want to help me bake it? The oven still works, even if it doesn't warm up as fast as it once did." The girl's eyes lit up, and Simon elected not to tell her that the neighbors hadn't exactly been willing to part with it, but had been too dead to oppose him. He generally hated looting houses, but with the general population of thieves nearby, he couldn't let anything good fall into the wrong hands.
"Did you really? Of course I'll help!" she chirped, wrapping Simon in a choking hug. Simon laughed and hugged the girl back, and brought the cookie dough out into the beaten kitchen.

The sun had no effect on Sitri's lavender skin, other than a slight itching. Her long, devil-red hair touched her waist as she stood on the corner of a high-rise building, highly unstable, but its not as if a fall would kill her. Not much could kill a demon at all; most stuff would just set her back a little.
Silver bullets, cold iron and holy water were the few things that would be able to kill her for good. She only knew this because they had claimed her kindred, but she was not about to test them out on herself. She still had souls to steal, and later devour.

OOC:// woah, that's horrible. >___> how'd you spill water on it? and you don't need a bio for zane unless you feel like you need one. c:
BIC:// In the corner of his eyes, Ace's ignored the glare of the sun. He didn't know if it was just him or the weather, but the nervousness was getting to him and he wanted to be off the street as quickly as he could. The boy wiped some sweat off his forehead and finally realized how far away the gas station really was.
Just a little more, he thought as he sneaked down the sidewalk, carefully avoiding the broken glass and trash beneath his feet. Ace swallowed the spit buildup in the back of his throat and silently planned how he was going to break into the place. Wait, I didn't bring my bag. Sh-
A noise on the other side of the street caused his head to turn to the left and he paused in his route, carefully checking out the surroundings. It was too loud to be an animal in a place like this, and the teenager subconsciously held his machete closer to his body. Ace couldn't let anybody notice him.
He bent down carefully behind a car that was parked on his side of the street and quietly observed the direction he heard the noise. The boy could've sworn he saw a swish of blonde hair when he glanced over. Ace bit his lip, and after a pause, walked out from behind the car, carefully bending down to pick up a pebble from the paved road. Looking around cautiously, the teenager threw it at the building's window in front of him.
The pebble gave an echoing thump before falling flat and lifeless on the floor. Ace numbed down the urge to call out, in case someone really was there, but he continued to walk on to the other side of the street and darted into a nearby alley as soon as he touched the sidewalk.
"I might have to kill you if you don't come out, eh?" The boy muttered at once, the urge finally getting the better of him.
His voice was scratchy and hoarse, actually surprising himself since the last time he had used it. Ace pushed these simple thoughts away and glanced out into the street, preparing his weapon for the worst case scenario- a vampire. ---- The smell of dead flesh was overwhelming once he stepped outside of his house, but Sinth was finally getting the better of it. His lips were drawn into a flat line out of discontent, because although the rotten stench of decayed human wasrnan annoyance, it wasn't as irritable as the fledgling behind him. How human she acted really bothered him, and his heterochromia eyes carefully avoided making contact with Gemini.
"Hey Sin, I think I smell a demon, and it's kind of nearby," she abruptly muttered, walking at a bit quicker than before to catch up to the other vampire.
"My name is not Sin," he hissed angrily, keeping his eyes focused in front of him.
As careless as he seemed, Sinth was actually worried by that. Demons were with them, yes, but the elder vampire knew of how much a nuisance they could be at times. As the two of them walked down the connection of alleys to avoid the sunlight, a certain stench hit him in the face like a brick.
Gemini seemed to smell the little girl's blood too, because she instantly twirled the crowbar in her hand with curiosity. It smelled of an easy target and lots of promises.
"I think there's another person, too. Maybe older," she added again, much to Sinth's dismay.
She was getting better and better at communicating to him without saying anything. Not another word was spoken between the two as they made their way down the sunless alleys until they were drawn nearer to the suburbs, with less and less hideouts to take.
Sinth grumbled at the annoyance, realizing his clothing weren't very protective against the sun. Gemini gave a snort and held a finger up at him, signaling to wait. The vampire dropped her crowbar and zipped up the oversized jacket that fell over her shoulders, pulling her hood up and peering around the small neighborhood for peculiar movement in any of the houses.
"How should we do this, Sin?"
"Victim."
Gemini nodded at his command and braced herself, biting down into her arm without a wince as she pulled up the blood from within her veins. She wiped the excess blood off her face and pulled her jacket sleeve over the wound, abruptly jumping out into the sunlight and racing down the street in the panic.
The slight tingling of the sun was lightly burning the skin that could be seen through her thick clothing, but the vampire ignored it. Human scent began to fill her nose and as Gemini followed the trail, she ended up running into a house's front wall.
She visibly jumped and rubbed her forehead. I hope no one saw that, the girl thought, calming her bloodlust mood down and switching to one that was obviously in pain. There was movement in the kitchen window, and she knocked on the door.
Sinth watched her from a shadow's distance.

((It's quite alright! I like reading long posts!))
I'd like to see you try. Kevia thought defiantly, biting her tongue to keep from yelling it. The other guy was obviously armed, because he wouldn't have threatened her otherwise. She heard footsteps on the stairs above her, and growled quietly. *censored*. Zane must have heard the glass. She glared to the stairs, but her warning came too late. Zane was already thundering down the steps, his throwing daggers strapped to his shoulder and easily accessible. He was clearly visible from the window. A shame he's not blonde. If this guy saw me, he'll know that it wasn't Zane just by his hair color.
"Kevia, what was that?" Zane barked, and Kevia would have stabbed him for his stupidity, but it was too late. Her position was forfeit. "Dammit," she hissed, breaking cover and making a point to aim it directly at the intruder. "We have a visitor, Zane," she grumbled, her eyes narrow as she examined the guy. In all seriousness, he wasn't too bad looking, even if he wasn't the cleanest person to walk the planet. Then again, running water was a near impossibility, so no one was really hygienic in comparison to cities yet to be shut down. If there were any left. He obviously wasn't a vampire, which was a relief.
-~-~-~-
Simon paused in his cooking when he heard a knock on the door. He slipped the dough into the oven and picked the girl, Lily, up in his arms as he went to the door. She was cheerful with the cookie-baking. He set her down on the couch in the living room. "Stay here Lily, I'm going to go see who's at the door." Lily nodded a pleased affirmative, and Simon took the shotgun off of his shoulder, slipping two bullets in their respective places and going towards the door.
"Who is it?" He yelled sharply, listening carefully at the door. He knew better than to blindly open his door to anyone, even if most vampires were smart enough to refrain from knocking on people's doors.
((JooC, is it true in this RP that vampires can't enter people's houses without being invited? And garlic?))

OOC:// the unentering threshold thing seems plausable to me, but i'm not too sure of the garlic thing, just because it seems a little too ridiculous. D: what do you think on that?
BIC:// Ace bit on his lip in anticipation and habit as the silence continued on into the thieving part of town. His undominant hand that held onto the machete shook slightly, making him have second thoughts about this situation.
I have a broken wrist, and a hand that swings like crap, he thought to himself, slightly exaggerating and pulling out possible escape routes in his head. If there was a confrontation, it was in his best interest to run.
There was a familiar, dull thumping sound that reminded the teenager of footsteps and he felt like he had just stopped breathing. Ace focused in on the noise and leaned a bit further out into the street. Two voices echoed, but he still couldn't determine of their humanity from outside of the building. The boy glanced into the window from his few feet away and realized that a girl was staring almost irritably at him. He felt slightly self-conscious about his current state, but pushed the pride away.
Ace swung his left hand up in greeting, purposely waving his weapon and smiling carefully. It was a simple gesture, but enough to leave a warning. He squinted his eyes past the sun and attempted to focus more on the inside and noticed a male figure next to the girl. And weapons. They had weapons too.
The teenager ruffled his hand through his matted hair and took a few steps backwards, closer to the alley way. Vampires didn't need weapons, right? He felt slightly safer.
"I'm Ace," he managed to shout without leaving a booming echo down the street, "what might two lovely people be doing here?" --- Gemini glanced back at Sinth, almost unsure. The male vampire promptly ignored her, however, backing up further into shadows to hide himself as someone addressed her from behind the door.
As soon as the vampire heard a voice from the other side of the threshold, she instantly grabbed her arm in slight pain and added a wince every now and then in her voice, attempting to show hurt without too much weakness.
"Um, I'm sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if I could use some supplies," Gemini called from the front steps.
She suddenly felt ridiculous. What would they think of her if she asked them that? How did she know they were there? With suspicious feelings creeping upon the fledgling, she chewed on the ideas in her head.
"I saw some movement while I was walking through the neighborhood. I kind of got locked outside of my house."

-evil grin-
Sounds like fun.
BiC://
A figure was crouched on the lip of a building, his yellow eyes glowing with their own bio-luminescence as he watched figures move on the street below. Their minds felt wrong. Inhuman. In fact, he didn't even feel anything from them. No sense of surface emotions or anything. His yellow orbs narrowed fractionally and a soft shuffle occurred behind him. Without looking, the male just extended his own conscious more. Anxiety rolled through this person, along with some other emotion.
Bloodlust?
He shrugged before turning to face the person. "Easy, Ash," he said, using the other male's nickname. It did nothing to calm his companion. His own yellow eyes narrowed a bit more before meeting the weathered jade ones of his friend. "Wyvern; at my signal."
A smile curved the other male's lips as he nodded and joined the yellow-eyed male on the lip of the building. Crouching low as scales started to envelope his skin. When the male with the yellow eyes felt one of the two things down below move into the shadows as the other one was confronted by a human -- unfortunately, the human thought the thing was one of their own kind. Smirking he said; "Now, Acheron."
Without a sound, Acheron shape changed into a large, black wyvern. He kept his form against the roof as he twitched his tail; the barb poised into the ready position. Then, he leapt down at the creature in the shadow (Sinth). Claws wrapped around it as Acheron pinned it to the ground, his neck curving as he narrowed his eyes while he maw opened up in a hiss; revealing sharp teeth. Unfurling his wings slightly, he let out a bellowing roar.
Up on the roof, the male grinned with delight. His yellow eyes twinkled as they glowed. Oh! Sweet fun! Then, he hopped over the roof and landed neatly on Acheron's back. His telekinetic ability saving him from breaking the bones in his legs. "What do you say, Acheron? Shall we flay him open like a steak?" he asked. Acheron flicked up the barb on his tail, inching it closer to the person... thing... he had pinned beneath his sharp claws.

Sinth took one last look at Gemini's attempt to sway the human at the door before heading back down the side of the building. He crossed his arms and began to steadily tap his foot, glaring out into the sunlight without really having to glare: it was just a permanent thing that happened on his face.
As he waited for any kind of signal or noise from Gemini, his thoughts drifted off. Sinth felt a sudden urge come over him and he reached into his pocket for cigarettes, but with an abrupt shift of his hand, he felt a giant force knock him to the ground.
The vampire could feel claws rip into his skin and he blinked for a few seconds, finally registering what had happened. That kid. These human kids. They wreaked.
An arrogant statement from the male on top of the wyvern sent Sinth back to reality and into action. A hiss ripped from somewhere in the back of his throat, something he thought he wasn't even capable of. The shapeshifter's barbed tail came into view and the vampire felt anger slowly bubble from his stomach.
Oh god, oh god, oh my god, oh god, Sinth's thoughts became panicked and his brain felt like it was shutting down. His arms had a mind of their own, however, and his left hand suddenly shot out and grabbed Gemini's dropped crowbar. The vampire hit as hard and as fast as he could in their general direction, randomly slamming the wyvern somewhere, and as soon as he felt even the slightest loosening on his body, he shot out from underneath the crushing wait and rolled to his feet.
"Yeah, because I'm sure you two are definitely capable of killing me," Sinth spit out sarcastically, relaxing his body and shifting his bones and muscles to a more defensive mode.
Claws elongated and for a second, he glanced and studied his enemies, registering they weren't exactly average. The wyvern form and the yellow eyes of the other boy said it all, but he wasn't worrying.
Sinth gave a smirk and held out one clawed finger, beckoning the pair over. Slowly he felt the clawed cuts on his arms heal and self confidence warshed over. He was going to do this as silently as possible, as sure not to distract Gemini.
"Your scar makes you look like an idiot," he insulted the cat-eyed boy.
The vampire dropped the crowbar with a dull thud and lunged forward for the wyvern once more, as an inhuman speed with his hand outstretched.

((Sorry for the late reply. My friends are being highly annoying over chat on google. Highly annoying. And garlic does seem a bit silly, but there are tons of vamp superstitions to go off of. The threshold one, holy water, sunlight. I'm sure there's more too.))
"Don't you dare try to run," Zane said sharply, pulling out a throwing dagger. "Relax Zane, take a closer look," Kevia murmured, pointing to Ace's right hand. It looked mangled and broken in appearance, and Kevia doubted that he was left-handed, despite the butcher knife clutched in it.
She kept her gun level with him though. "We are not to be meddled with, stranger." She warned, earning an annoyed nudge from Zane. He obviously wanted to extort the teenager to give up his supplies. "I think we can help each other out."

"How do I know you're not a thief?" Simon challenged, jabbing his shotgun through the air in an empty gesture. It's not like the other person... or thing... could see it though.

Acheron shrieked as the creature slammed into his knee, stumbling. His tail flailed to balance himself. Wings furled and unfurled as he regained his balance. Baring his teeth, he hissed at the creature. The male on Acheron's back slipped off and scowled at the creature. He could sense the sarcasm in the other's voice even without the use of his telepathic abilities.
When the other insulted the scar he bore, the yellow-eyed male paid no attention, but Acheron rose to meet it with a fierce snarl as the scales rippled in preparation for another shape change. "Acheron," he said softly; warningly.
The wyvern paid no attention and hissed; wings rising more, tail poising the poisonous barb. But when the dull sound of metal hitting pavement reached the yellow-eyed male cursed softly and flicked his eyes to a rather large, metal ob ject. A dumpster. Perfect. Another smirk curved his lips as he flicked his eyes back towards the creature; who was moving with incredible towards the pair of them.
Suddenly, the heavy dumpster flew towards the creature with the same speed; if not a bit faster. The metal structure slammed into it, curling around and entombing it.
The wyvern shifted back to human form. "Sethera?" he asked. "You going to be able to hold that? You know what happens when you mind-bend more than you can handle." Acheron sounded concerned. It matched the shifter's mind emotions.
"I'll handle it," Sethera said, his yellowed narrowing a bit more.

OOC:// sob sob, graveyardfox. D; and i'm usually busy on the weekends so if i don't reply quickly, i apologize in advance.
BIC:// "Don't assume I'm running," Ace snapped, pulling his lips into a thin line.
He had felt the need to be defensive without really wondering why. The teenager watched how Zane and Kevia reacted to each other and he realized that this situation probably wasn't best. He had tried greatly to hide the pain in his wrist but they must have been more intelligent than he had originally thought.
He gave them credit for that.
Ace ignored the dagger that the man held and he locked eyes with the woman. "No, I don't think we can," he barked, abruptly feeling threatened and pulling on his machete, "Two people suspiciously hanging around an abandoned building? No way, dude. Your thieves."
Even though that was exactly what he had been doing ten minutes ago, Ace still pinpointed it on them. A sudden surge of adventure pumped in his veins.
"Never mind. But listen," he asked, holding up a calm hand and narrowing his eyes, "I'm about to break into the gas station up the street and blow the place up. Your building might suspiciously catch on fire later, too. However, you're both welcome to join me." --- Although the yellow-eyed boy didn't seem to be phased by the insult, Sinth's eyes still glittered in slight amusement at the effect it had on the other one, who was claimed Acheron, apparently.
He was a split second away from tearing into the wyvern when suddenly metal slammed into his side. The vampire could literally feel his life escaping him in that moment and he held back a cry. It pounded into him and suddenly it became hard to breathe, but not like he really needed to. It was jut a habit that he liked.
Sinth felt angry that a human was able to overpower him. The dumpster smelled horrible, and under the pressure of the metal, a bone snapped. The vampire let out a bloodcurdling scream as his leg bone was forcibly fixed and put back to place, only to rebreak and be fixed again. One of the downfalls of healing, he figured. Well, at least until he needed more blood.
He ignored the intense breakage in his body and pulled a shaky clawed hand up, as painful as it was for him to do that against the dumpster.
"I'm going to kill you for that," Sinth hissed, carefully applying pressure to the metal until he was able to leave a physical dent in front of him.
From there, he forced his hand forward and began to slowly break at the metal.
"Well, I suppose you don't, but.." Gemini began, but paused in her sentence when Sinth's scream reached her ears.
She blinked and opened her eyes a few centimeters wider, finally noticing the two other souls that had jumped the older vampire in the alley.
"Me and my friend were attacked by vampires earlier," she quickly lied, letting go of her 'injured' hand, "it's okay if you don't believe me, but I think they followed us here and I need to help him. I might not be back."
Gemini jumped off the front steps of Simon's house and paused in mid-stride, asking herself if it was really worth it. There was easy prey inside that house, and a little girl, no less. She hadn't really known Sinth as one who ever needed help either, but that scream..
Without another second thought, she took off down the street at a nice human pace and leaped into the alley, giving herself a few gulps of breath before glancing around at the immediate danger.
Mind bending. Offreakingcourse, she thought, glaring daggers at the two unidentified guys on the other end as she wiped hair out of her face.
"Two against one? That's not very fair," Gemini muttered.
They already knew that Sinth was a vampire, and that left a big gap in her usual plan of action. She picked up her dropped crowbar on the floor, thinking of any kind of tactic. She had to get the guy to stop mind-bending.
"One's a shapeshifter," Sinth shouted, giving the fledgling a heads up as he angrily attempted to rip the bending metal that threatened to kill him.
Very skillfully, Gemini made her way closer to the one who was mind bending, keeping her crowbar carefully aimed towards the both of them and her pocket knife tucked out-of-site in her pocket.
"He's not as strong as me, and I don't want to hurt you two," She warned, waiting to see if either of them would make a threatening move that would give her enough reason to strike.
