Flamestrike sighed and thought he better return to his duties. He gazed around the clearing. "Nightowl, you lead a hunting party with Icepaw, Coalpaw, and Hailstorm," He said, knowing his mate would want to return to her warrior duties as soon as possible. He turned around. "Shadowstorm, get ready to lead the evening patrol. Choose who you want to go with you," He said. Shadowstorm dipped her head, "Yes, Flamestrike," She replied.

Icepaw flicked her tail as she heard her name called. "Coalpaw, come on. We ARE going hunting together," She mewed excitedly and practically bounced over to Nightowl. She couldn't wait to sink her teeth into a fresh mouse or a bird.

Lifewing glanced down at Emberpaw with a bemused look. "Of course we can, let me just finish a fwe things." she trotted abck to ther den and came out a few seconds later. "Ok, lets go..." she said, starting to walk towards the enterance...

Hailstorm walked over to Icepaw. "Are you two ready for your *censored*esment. Me and PantherClaw (Can I have them have talked?) decided we could as.ses you together." Hailstorm's whiskers twitched as she stared at Coalpaw and Icepaw...

Coalpaw grinned at Icepaw, as he watched her jump up and down with excitement. He was just about to reply, when Hailstorm approached Icepaw. He looked up at the formidable she-cat, eyes widening with slight surprise when she announced that they would be a.ssesed. He straightened up a little, eager to prove to the warrior that he was ready. "I'm ready!" He replied confidently. He nudged Icepaw. "You ready?"

Rainflower sat a few tail-lengths away from Duskpaw as she was with her father. After sometime, Rainflower slowly approached Duskpaw. Bending down to the she-cat, she whispered, "Are you ready for your first task as an apprentice?" Rainflower felt slightly excited.

 Ashpaw watched Deathpaw leave. She hoped down from the branch and began to run after him, trying to catch up.

Duskpaw nodded excitedly and ran straight towards the enterence, not running into anything...

Deathpaw skidded to a halt as her heard the trees shake. He glanced up, "Ashpaw?" he smiled warmly, he ahd a crush on the she-cat who had the same, almost, perasonality as him...

Icepaw nudged Coalpaw back. "Of course I'm ready. A warrior's ready for anything," She said. She looked up at Hailstorm. "Can we go now?" She asked, knowing the protocol for the a.ssessment. She had to catch as much prey as she could muster to prove that she was getting ahead in her training. Without a reply, she took off toward the entrance to camp. "I'm going to catch the biggest mouse ever!" She exclaimed as she ran from the camp.

Pantherclaw padded over to Coalpaw and Hailstorm after Icepaw ran off. He gave Hailstorm a warm greeting. "Flamestrike's right. You must have your paws full," He said with a purr. He looked down at Coalpaw. "I expect you to catch at least three pieces of prey. We'll be watching you the whole time," He said and nodded to his apprentice. "Stay away from Icepaw during the hunt. I don't want either of you distracted," He said sternly.

Flamestrike watched Icepaw bound out of the camp. His whiskers twitched with amusement and he sighed. He just hoped she wouldn't run too close to the borders. He padded up to Hailstorm. "I take it you are a.ssessing your apprentice today?" He asked her, his tone kind. "You sure do have your paws full with Icepaw," He mewed good-heartedly. He rubbed his muzzle against hers before padding off to find Dreamstone.

Blizzardpaw watched Icepaw run to the entrance. He realized Icepaw was being as.sessed today and his tail twitched crossly. Why did Dreamstone have to be so lazy. She taught him a lot, but she always needed coaxing to leave the camp. With a sigh, he padde dup to her. "Dreamstone, what are we doing today?" He asked her.

Shadowstorm looked around the camp, trying to figure out who would be the best for her hunting party. Her gaze rested on Blizzardpaw and Dreamstone. She padded over to them. "Dreamstone, Blizzardpaw, would you two like to join me for the evening patrol?" She asked them.

Coalpaw, who thought he was the more obedient one, stayed with Pantherclaw a little while more before racing off. He nodded quickly, and darted off, yelling "You can't run faster than me!" to Icepaw. Quickly enough, he had surpa.ssed her, and gave her a grin before he abruptly changed direction and charged off towards the right after exiting the camp.

Dreamstone looked at her young and eager apprentice. "What, you want to be as.se-" She started, before being cut off by Shadowstorm. 'Hm... Blizzardpaw does seem fidgety.' Dreamstone thought, casting a glance at her apprentice. Nodding, Dreamstone started following Shadowstorm. "Come on, Blizzardpaw." She called. Dreamstone paused for a moment. "Don't worry, I'll as.sess you soon enough." She grinned at him.

Blizzardpaw nodded at the senior warriors. He set off behind Dreamstone, as was his place. Shadowstorm led the patrol past the entrance to camp and kept to the right. They were going to patrole FrostClan's borders! Blizzardpaw felt a surge of excitement at the thought of meeting this wiry Clan for battle. He flexed his claws and padded onward.

Pantherclaw cast a quick glance to Coalpaw before he set off after the two apprentices. He followed Coalpaw's scent trail and stayed a little ways behind him, not wanting to alert him. The scent of mouse hit his nose up ahead and he strayed to the right to watch Coalpaw from the side. He cocked his head, waiting for Coalpaw to scent the mouse.

Icepaw padded through the forest. Coalpaw whisked past her and headed to the right. "Mouse dung," She said. She had been planning on heading toward the lushest part of the forest and Coalpaw had taken that escape away. She sat and thought hard about the best place to hunt. Making up her mind, she set off again to the higher lands, hoping to catch a few birds. She kept her tail still and her body low as she scented a sparrow flitting through the trees abover her. Her icy blue eyes glowed as she watched it from the undergrowth. The bird fluttered closer to the ground and Icepaw began to stalk it. She kept close to the ground, using her best hunting crouch. When she was a tail-length away, the wind changed direction and the bird scented her. It let out a cry of alarm before Icepaw pounced and silenced it. She burried her catch under a small tree and looked around. The cry couldn't have reached too far so she headed onward. Pretty soon, she came across the scent of mouse. It filled her scenses. A large, plump mouse stood on the rocks, nibbling on a small seed. She lashed her tail and stalked it, staying light on her haunches. The mouse scented her and stumbled as it tried to get away. She hooked it with her claws and gave it the death blow by snapping its neck. After that, she caught another mouse that wasn't nearly as big and a small magpie. She went back to collect her prey, her eyes glowing with pride.

Emberpaw padded beside her mentor, wondering what she had to do back in the den. Her amber pelt glittered in the approaching dusk. She looked to her right and spotted some more cobwebs glistening with dew. "Lifewing, perhaps we should bring some of that back with us when we come back," She said, storing the memory of it's place in her mind. "I had to patch up Deathpaw's ear and I'm not sure if he'll need more cobwebs. He'll probably get into a few more fights before it heals properly," She purred with amusement.

Lifewing stared at Emberpaw and then smiled, "you are a true Medicine cat apprentice." She said. "Yes, I do suggest that as we walk towards training hollow, you look for some cobwebs and I will try to find some more poppy seeds. Deathpaw gets hurt too much" Her white fur ruffled in the gentle breeze that swept over the now empty camp...

Duskpaw stared up at  Rainflower with blank eyes and then started to walk further intothe forest. She screeched as she stepped on a sharp stone and hopped around wildly. She stopped and sat quietly as she sensed something upwind of her…

Emberpaw's eyes glowed at the compliment. She took note of the cobwebs and looked around for more poppy seeds. She looked up and found that the sky was beginning to get darker. The stars of silverpelt glowed softly on the still-bright sky. They reached the training hollow quickly and Emberpaw sat down on her delicate white paws.

Blizzardpaw sniffed the air and a strong FrostClan scent hit his scent glands. He let loose a hiss and Shadowstorm backed up into the undergrowth. "Get down. It's a FrostClan patrol," She hissed. Blizzardpaw immedietly shrank into the shadows, careful to hide his light-colored pelt. He peered from the darkness and saw a FrostClan apprentice chasing a snow rabbit across the border. The rabbit veered to the right and flew over the border into EmberClan territory. The apprentice didn't hesitate for a second before running over the border. The cat's mentor watched silently from the other side of the territory, ears pricked.

Shadowstorm hissed and jumped from the bushes. "Frostwing, what do you think you're doing, allowing your apprentice to cross the border." The she-cat swiveled around and glared at Shadowstorm. "Runningpaw, get back here," She hissed and the apprentice abandoned the chase and skulked back to Frostwing. Shadowstorm let out a hiss, unsheathing her claws. "That was FrostClan prey," Frostwing spat. Shadowstorm glared at her. "It crossed into EmberClan territory," She retorted and Frostwing unsheathed her claws.

The apprentice, Runningpaw ran at Blizzardpaw and bowled him over. Blizzardpaw let a muffled cry escape his jaws before Runningpaw clambed his paws over Blizzardpaw's muzzle. Frostwing watched from the other side of the border while Shadowstorm watched the fight. She wanted to leave it up to Blizzardpaw! Blizzardpaw slipped out from under Runninpaw and raked his claws against the apprentice's pelt. Runningpaw lunged at him, eyes burning with fury. Blizzardpaw rolled onto his side and sprang up beside the apprentice, kicking his paws out from under him. Runninpaw fell sideways and Blizzardpaw raked his muzzle. Runningpaw yowled with pain and Blizzardpaw released him. Runningpaw lashed out unexpectedly, bringing his claws down on Blizzardpaw's face, leaving three red streaks of blood. Blizzardpaw staggered back and Frostwing and Runningpaw ran from the border. "Good ridance," Shadowstorm hissed.

"Let's return to camp," She said and Blizzardpaw nodded. Shadowstorm's gaze softened. "We'll have Emberpaw see to that nasty scratch," She said and took off, full speed toward the camp. Blizzardpaw looked up at his mentor expectantly.

Icepaw dragged her prey to where she buried her first sparrow. She unearthed it and grabbed the bird in her teeth. She stumbled a few times, the fat mouse, dragging her down. She made it back to camp, her mouth sore from all of the prey dangling from her jaw. She spat out her catches next to the fresh-kill pile, wanting to make sure Hailstorm knew it was her catch.
