Shadow saw it,the herd of deer and immediately picked out a weak doe. Her siblings rushed out to seperate it from the herd and quickly began to lead it towards the other half of the group where their sister crouched low to the ground in a dark shadow made by the trees.

From atop a rocky hill, Kain watched as the herd of deer, that he had been stalking for hours now, had been ambushed by a sizely pack of wolves. His eyes narrowed and his lips curled as he let out a low snarl. Fortunately, though, the wolves did not go after his target, but instead after the weakling of the herd. He stood from his spot, his muscles rippling under his skin, and then raced down the hill. Throughout the chaos of the frightened deer, it wasn't hard to spot his target, the alpha buck who almost doubled Kain's size. For the dark wolf, this was prey worth hunting. He chased the large buck away from his herd, snapping at its hide whenever he got close enough in order to frighten it further. Once the deer was aggrevated enough, it turned to try to rake its predator with its enormous horns which is exactly what Kain wanted. Before the buck lowered its massive head, Kain lunged and locked his jaws onto its throat and pulled it down, holding on until it finally stopped struggling. Then, to insure its death, he jerked upward until he heard the familiar "snap".

Madera slid on the ground, his claws digging into the dirt as he sharply turned away from Shadow's ground and hid in the underbrush to ambush the doe that was now being chased towards him and a couple other wolves. The doe bleated with panic as it was abandoned by its herd, trying desperately to escaped the wolves that pursued it. When it drew close, Madera leaped forwards, twisting his head and snapping his jaw down on the doe's neck. The doe kicked him and spun around, but couldn't get him to let go of its neck, even when it swung him around fast enough for his paws to leave the ground.

(Bye...)
Shadow ran at the doe and latched onto her stomach while her siblings surrounded it to keep it from running off. The doe's hooves scraped at her sides and stomach, but she refused to let go as she felt the doe weakening at a rapid pace.

Madera jerked his head back and forth, forcing his teeth deep into the doe's neck. With it's neck being crushed by Madera and the rest of it being torn into by the other wolves, there wasn't much else for the deer to do besides kick until it couldn't kick anymore, which didn't give it much time. Soon the doe was still on the ground, but Madera kept a firm hold on its neck, wanting to be certain it was dead before letting go. He didn't want it being eaten while it was still alive. He didn't like eating things that weren't completely dead.

Shadow's ears perked up when the deer fell and she let go before going to check its eyes for any spark of life left.

Aidan yelped when Madera suddenly jerked into the bushes without him, but found that this could be his chance to be an independent hunter as he had never properly hunted before. He guessed he would just do something similar to what the other attacking wolves were doing. He watched as Madera took the first move in biting the does neck, then as Shadow bit into the does stomach. 'nows my chance...' he thought, then leapt at the deeds struggling body. He managed to get his jaws around the does left back leg, making the deer lose its footing Then tripped the deer over. He got a good wallop to the chest as the doe fell, though. He let go of the leg and. Jumped backwards, not wanting to get hit again. He would leave it to the older wolves to do the death blow.
Denali did not go off to the side or into the bushes like the other wolves of the hunt, but herded the deer from behind. Every now and then he would nip the heels of the doe, to make it keep running. He slowed down his pace as the older and stronger wolves leapt onto the deer and trotted around in the background. He then moved closer to Fisher to ensure that he would get a decent meal from this carcass. He looked up and to the side as he heard the leading Buck call then in the distance saw it fall. "Shadow... Who just took that Buck? It fell, and... Bucks don't do that on their own..." He whined to his alpha.

The deer was running far out from the other wolves. She would have to take this one alone. She started running as fast a she could. She was catching up with the doe. She latched onto the back leg and pulled the doe down. As soon as the doe fell to the ground she jumped and grabbed on to it's neck. It bucked and kicked so gracefully. She held on with all of her strength.

When the last of its twitching stopped, Madera finally let go of the deer. He licked his lips, enjoying the taste of the blood that was now making him even hungrier than before with the promise of a delicious meal. Just as he was about to rip into the deer, Denali said something that caught his attention. A buck falling with no explanation? That was quite strange indeed. He looked where Denali was looking, squinting as he tried to see where the buck had fallen. They were easier to locate when they were still standing, but the buck's antlers helped Madera find it. It looked like whatever killed it was still there and standing over its prey. He wasn't quite sure what it was, but he knew it was large and black. Was it a bear? It really was hard to tell from this distance.

Shadow stared in the distance and replied,"I don't know. Either a bear or,possibly, another wolf." She then shook her head and added,"As long as it doesn't come over here we're fine. Now lets eat." Right after she finished talking she stepped back to let the others eat,not being as hungry as the newer wolves looked.

She saw the life go out of the deer's eyes. She let go of it's neck and pulled it back to the other wolves.

Aidan wagged his tail as Shadow told all the wolves to eat. He lowered his head and let Madera go in front of him though, respecting the older wolf greatly. If Madera ate, Aidan would eat. As long as Madera ate first. The respect and attachment Aidan had grown for Madera was truly strong. He tried hard to resist the smell of new flesh but kept his head low and motioned for Madera to eat before him.
Denali crawled around the other wolves and the kill and eventually got to Fishers side. He nipped Fishers shoulder pleadingly, as if he were asking for a place on the dinner table. He hoped he wouldn't have to fight for it. If he did, a few leftovers of skin and bones would suit him. At least If he tried to get a proper meal he might get something- if you don't try, you miss out.

Shadow sat down and watched as her brother,Fisher, looked at Denali. Fisher looked down at the young wolf and simply gestured towards the found with his snout, letting him know he could go ahead and eat. The young wolf was loyal to them and deserved a good meal.
