Aidan braced for impact as the group of wolves ran his way. He was expecting a painful blow to the neck, but instead he felt wind and heard the wolves paws padding swiftly away. A sigh of relief filled his breath, and decided to visit the other wolf. At least HE seemed more friendly.
Denali awoke at once to the deep, grumbling sound of a growl and the bark of a wolves voice. His legs brought him to stand at once, his teeth bared, his legs slightly crouched and his tail in between his legs. He visually submitted to the great dominance and power of the scary black female. He expected to be torn apart any second.

(Sure,Paint, you can still use the same character,if you want.)
Shadow smiled as she realized it was a younger wolf than her and said,"Atleast someone here knows how to submit properly. What's your name?" Her silver eyes and the silver eyes of her siblings were watching the younger wolf with curiosity. Spirit,Fisher, and Dark all frowned at the response from Shadow when the pup submitted properly. Then their ears went down and they tried their best to submit like the younger wolf.

Madera patted down the last of the dirt over the rabbit hole, leaving nothing but a depression in the dirt and his scent. He looked around, happily noting that the pack he had heard had moved away from him. He could probably start hunting again if he wanted to, but he decided it would be a better idea to travel a little bit before hunting again. Whoever those other wolves were, all of their howling had probably scarred off all of the prey.
Madera turned to the other wolf he had seen, who was now approaching him. From his posture the wolf didn't look like he wanted to start a fight. He was actually acting pretty friendly. He must be a loner as well. Madera wagged his tail slightly so he wouldn't scare off the younger wolf. " Are you hunting here too? " he asked.

"Hunting? uuuh... more like scavenging..." Aidan murmured as he stopped in front of the wolf. his tail was still between his legs. he expected that the older wolf would know he was too young to hunt. his fur rested and his tail lifted slightly. he thought he could trust the older male, but he had to just make sure. all he would do was talk, he guessed.
Denali took a sigh of relief as he saw the nice smile swipe across the black wolves face, and slightly laughed at her compliment and then her other wolves copy his signs of submission. "I..." He started. "I'm Denali." He felt utterly tiny up against the full grown wolves. he felt scared, as he had not realised he was in the wolves den. he wanted to flee, but he was too frightened of being surrounded.

Shadow could sense the fear in him and said,"No need to be afraid. I'm Shadow. That silver wolf is Spirt, the tan one is Fisher, and the white one is Dark. We aren't a pack,we're just siblings." The other wolves straightened up as their names were said and smiled, which was easier for them than it was for Shadow.

" I don't think you'll have much luck with that here, " Madera said, " I have yet to see a single dead animal that was more than skin and bones. " He had seen a couple of carcasses in the area, but they had all been picked clean by vultures and foxes. There was nothing left for him to eat. " If you feel like eating any time soon then you'll either have to start hunting or find someone who can do it for you. " Madera wasn't entirely sure why he was giving advice to this young wolf when he could easily just turn around and leave him to starve. He confused himself sometimes.

(dont worry. elmo to the rescue)
Aidan now felt he could trust the wolf, though it was early. pups dont know the best. "We could eat some of the bones over there, that the bigger wolves have left. we could just take some small ones..." he paused. he felt he was saying too much. "its better than nothing." he murmered. he then waited for the older wolves advice. " I'm Aidan."
Denali was a little less worried now. He felt safe to be friends with big, strong wolves, that could protect him. "I thought you were some sort of murder pack at first. Well..." this was probably the most dangerous question he could possibly ask, be he would give it a go. "Well... Could I... Could I join your group? I... I need food, i haven't eaten for almost two weeks. And I'm too little to hunt. I tried a squirrel, but i got nipped on the nose." He whimpered in embarrassment, and smiled nervously. these wolves could take down a Stag(they smelt strongly of it) and he couldnt even catch a mouse, or hurt a fly.

Shadow smirked and said,"We are no sort of pack, yet. We've thought about it." She then added, with a glance at her siblings, who nodded their heads,"Yes,you may join our group and maybe we could help teach you to hunt down prey." There was mummers of agreement from her siblings as they listened and Shadow smirked before asking,"Would you like us to hunt something down for you?"

Madera examined the scraps, seeing little more than skin and bones, but he supposed the pup was right. Scraps were better than nothing, even scraps that were barely there. He looked around the area, sniffing hard at the air and listening for any sounds. It seemed liked the pack he heard earlier had moved on to another place. Hopefully they wouldn't be back for a while. Most packs didn't like other wolves eating there kills, even if they were just scraping the bones clean. " Alright Aidan, I guess we can go for the bones, but we'll have to be cautious. Wouldn't want to get bitten for scavenging, " Madera said as he trotted to the kill and grabbed one of larger bones to chew on.

Aidan followed the older wolf urgently, and immediately grabbed the first bone in sight- a large vertebra. he chewed on it intently. it was dry and tasteless but gave some nourishment. his powerful jaws broke through to the softer bone marrow, and admired the succulent taste and texture. he was licking it more than chewing, but his body was loving the sensation.
Denali looked up at the great black wolf. "Thank you! er... that would be nice to have something to eat, as long as it is not too much trouble for you." he admitted. he hated making other creatures suffer for his own sake, and hated the fact that he had done that with Aidan. his face screwed up as he tried to forget it.

Shadow smiled and said,"It's no trouble at all. You just stay here and Spirit and Fisher will keep you company while me and Dark get you some food." With that the white and black wolves ran off to catch something for the young wolf. They soon found two plump rabbits near by and took them down with a swipe of their paws. Carrying their prizes back the thought of her pups hit Shadow's mind and she thought,'They will be born without their father being alive to teach them.' She shook away the thought though as they returned to the den and placed there kills on the cold stone ground.

Denali nodded as he was left with the two wolves, spirit and fisher. Then, in what seemed like two seconds, Shadow and Dark were back with two nice rabbits. "Ooh, that was quick! Thank you!" he slightly shouted in excitement. Immediately, his jaws were tearing at skin and eating rabbit liver in no time. He felt like an alpha- eating first, getting the liver, kidneys and heart- although just being a pup. Before he knew it, Denali kicked his lips and the two meals were gone. "Why thank you, Shadow, and thank you, Dark." he said as he blinked and lowered his head to show submittance ad thank the two more dominant wolves. As this was now a kind of mini pack, he knew he had to find his rank. It would not be a high one, but a wolves natural instincts was to try. He began by testing Spirit for dominance. He nipped her back and side, then waited for a reply of a growl and/or some nips back.
(yup. I am a wolf geek- I know all the different behaviours, body language, the different types of howl(rally, defensive, etc.) and all that stuff... I may get annoying, but I can't help my knowledge! *shrugs*)

After crushing five bones and getting all of the marrow they had to offer, Madera decided he was done picking at these scraps like a vulture. This old cold meat was starting to lose its nice flavor. He wasn't sure he could eat any more without throwing up. He wanted fresh meat. Even a squirrel would do. Anything to make him feel like he wasn't just scraping by for a living. He missed being in a pack. He had fresh food most days, a warm place to sleep, friends, safety, all of which he usually lacked as a loner. He could only hope to find some other loners soon to form a pack with. Living like this was horrible.

(I like learning about wolves and I seem to be the one to know the most out of my group of friends,so it won't be annoying to me.)
Shadow nodded her head at the thank you and way he submitted almost immediately after. Then watched as he tested to see if Spirit would submit or defend herself after he nipped her. Spirit only growled and pulled back her ears, never tending to hurt someone back after they hurt her. Fisher knew that the pup was going to try and nip him next and growled at him before he could try. Shadow seemed slightly ammused at Fisher's reaction to what hadn't happened yet as she looked at Dark, who only watched the younger wolf.

(right, good! We both know what we're doing:) )
Aidan glared up at the look of disgust on the older males face. Clearly, he was not used to scavenging. Aidan then happily went on chewing through the whole spine, and was already halfway through. The crunches from the bones were loud, yet not enough for audibility from a while away.
Denali felt big and puffed up his fur. The adult had not nipped back? He chewed on the scruff of her neck and then bit her muzzle. Until she showed some defence, Denali would gain rank against her. Then, Fisher growled. That automatically led Denali to him. He flattened his ears and chewed on his chest, then opened his jaws up to his to probably jaw-spar. He knew that Fisher would be a tough one, but if he teased him enough, he might gain tank against the others. Fisher might even let him have extras on a kill, but that was just thoughts.
(pups usually tease high ranked males so they get extras and gain one or two ranks)

((Just so everyone is aware, I know very little about wolves. I know some of the basic things, but I can guarantee that I am going to mess up. I probably already have. I will try my best. :3))
Madera gave the bones one last disgusted look before turning away and scratching his ear. He wasn't sure whether he should keep hanging around this pup. He wanted fresh meat, but the pup was too young to hunt and he wasn't doing too well at it either. Keeping Aidan with him might just give him another mouth to feed instead of providing any actual benefits like easier hunting or having a smaller likelihood of being attacked by things. Despite there being fewer pros than cons, Madera knew he would feel guilty if he abandoned Aidan. Alone the pup was certain to die from starvation or from predators.

Fisher's jaws opened and he shook his head away from the pup's mouth before giving him a nip on the shoulder. His mouth then went up and gave the paw a small nip on the nose before he turned his head to look at his sister,Spirit. He gave the pup a warning growl before going over to his sister in the corner of the small den and leaving Shadow and Dark alone with the pup. Dark looked at Shadow, who only looked back at him,her eyes telling him all he needed to know.
