"Hey Daph, you know school doesn't start for another week, right?" Ridge asked cautiously, popping his head around the door frame into the living room where Daphne had been rigorously planning lessons for hours.
"Yes, but as I'm a teacher, I have to be prepared," she replied, not looking up from her laptop screen, "And anyway, I'll be done soon. I'm only planning my lessons for the first term." Ridge shrugged, not sure whether to be relieved or concerned.
He walked barefoot into the kitchen, and took a bowl from the shelf. He poured some cereal into the bowl, followed by milk. He leaned on the kitchen bench and ate it there.
Arabella entered not long after, wearing her favourite grass-green rabbit-printed onesie. She yawned, and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "Good morning," she said.
"Morning," Ridge replied.
Arabella looked at the options of breakfast foods in front of her, and frowned. None of them really appealed to her. She smiled at Ridge and asked, "Hey Ridge? Could you make me some bacon? Please?"
Ridge drank what was left in his bowl and nodded, "Sure."
He grabbed a frying pan and Arabella fetched some bacon from the fridge that was left over from a few days ago. When the pan was hot, Ridge added the rashers one by one. Arabella watched them hungrily as they sizzled. She wished they could cook faster.
"Go ask Daphne if she wants some," Ridge said.
"Okay," Arabella agreed, and then shouted, "Daphne! Do you want some bacon?!"
"Yeah, sure," was Daphne's reply, "Could you bring me some on a plate, please?"
"I kinda meant go out and ask her, not shout for her," Ridge said with an amused smile.
When the bacon was ready, Ridge dished it out onto three plates. He gave two to Arabella and took one for himself. Arabella took the plates to the living room and gave one to Daphne, who thanked her and ate the bacon slowly. Arabella sat down on the sofa next to her and looked over at Daphne's work. Ridge sat down on the armchair opposite them.

Azon woke up to the sound of his alarm clock's obnoxiously loud beeping. He turned it off and heaved himself out of bed. His extended family were away on holiday until school started back so he didn't have to wait for the shower.
Once he was dressed and had had breakfast, Azon opened the front door and stepped out. He took the pile of newspapers from his doorstep and put them in his bag that was slung over his shoulder. He strode down the garden path to the street and walked up the road. At each mailbox, he put in a newspaper.
He approached a house with two women chatting on the front porch. He gave them a smile and a friendly wave as he placed a newspaper in their mailbox. Azon hadn't had much of a chance to make friends around this new neighbourhood yet, so he tried to be as sociable as possible wherever he went.
