It suddenly struck Hermione how strange it was to be complimented by a Malfoy, Lucius no less. He had been decent enough since he had arrived, but it hadn’t been so long that she could forget the cutting remarks he had made about her parents in Second Year. Not wanting to ruin the comfortable atmosphere they had created, she stood up. “I think I’ll try again, Professor.” She strode to the cane. Wingardium leviosa! The cane shook a bit, but did not levitate. She tried again, and again, but it did not do what she wanted it to. Sighing, she turned to her Professor. “Got any useful bits of advice?”

Lucius was puzzled, bit motioned his cane over. When it floated into his hand, he pulled his wand out of it. "That should help." He explained, the now empty cane floating back.

((Ru. <3)) Hermione’s eyes lit up with realization. “You hide your wand in your cane?” she asked accusingly. No wonder it wouldn’t come to her. And she thought she just wasn’t doing well.

Hermione stuck her tongue out at her teacher, before realizing her childish reaction and hastily closing her mouth. Her face warmed up. “You just tried to sabotage me,” she blamed, pouting slightly.

“Yes, well, he’s different,” Hermione replied, disgruntled. She turned her back on her Professor and faced the cane. Accio cane! The cane sped into her hands. “Ha! I did it!” she exclaimed, pushing the cane into Professor Malfoy’s hands. She turned to the Pygmy Puff who had been watching and squeaking from its place on the table. “Momma did it, didn’t she? She did it all! Are you proud?” She grinned at her Professor. “May I keep Arthur?”

"Of all the names..." Lucius muttered, cracking a grin. "Arthur, really? How do you know if it's a boy, anyway? It's pink." He pushed his wand back into the cane.

“Arthur is a good name!” Hermione defended. “King Arthur, you know? And he’s a boy because…well, I’m not sure if I want to say, but I know he’s a boy. That should be enough.”
