Hermione, feeling slightly devious, shot a quick glance at Professor Flitwick. Seeing he was on the other side of the room, helping Neville with the wand motions, she gave Harry a smirk. Ron noticed she seemed to be doing that a lot lately, and hoped it wasn't a skill she had picked up from Malfoy. Either one. "Harry," Hermione said in a sugary voice, "I'd like you to tell me about your less than innocent thoughts about Professor Snape." Ron choked on his saliva.

What is the reason for your non-platonic glances in the direction of Severus Snape, Potions Master at Hogwarts and resident bat, during recent Potions classes?"

pression, and took pity on her best friend. "Finite Incantatem." She gave Harry a smile that had a hint of remorse in it. "Sorry about that. I had to get my curiosity out." "Sometimes you're too curious for your own good, 'Mione," Ron said, shaking his head but smirking all the same. He gave Hermione a fond kiss of the cheek. "But you know, Harry, I'm perfectly okay with you like Ginny. It's just...Snape? Really?" He made a face.

"Hey!" Ron exclaimed, but he could do nothing to stop Harry from saying the spell. Instead, he stood back and glared at his best friend. "It was my turn," he mumbled childishly. Hermione, who had been smiling before, dropped the grin. Asking Harry what she had was probably not her wisest move. At least, she should have asked him after they had already questioned her. Dammit. When did she start thinking like a Slytherin? She was a Gryffindor. Courage to the end and all that. "Give me your best shot, Harry," she said, standing straight and giving him a haughty glance. She felt his magic wash over her.

Hermione's mouth dropped open in horror. She sent a terrified look to Ron. "I- uhm- ah..." She desperately tried to fight the effects of the spell, but she wasn't strong enough. Her humiliation was deepened when she saw that some of the other students in the class had gathered around, ears perking when they had heard Professor Malfoy's name. Lavender Brown and Parvati Patil, the biggest gossips in their year, were listening very closely, and to her dismay, so were Draco and Pansy Parkinson. This wasn't how she wanted her relationship with Ron to end, and she fought back tears. However, she resigned herself to the fact that she had asked Harry the same thing, and she would have to answer. "I have a- a crush on him."
