Canis stopped snarling Yawned, smiled lightly, and fell asleep, curled up in a ball next to his mother's warm flank.

Wolf sighed and he realized he had been holding his breath.

Swiftstar nodde dhis head and Nightstar. He nudged Foxpaw towards the fresh kill pile. "Eat. I have tot alk to your leader.

Foxpaw felt Swiftstar, smiled at Nightstar, and nodded. "You bet!" Then she ran to the fresh kill pile and took a small finch and began to eat near it.

Swiftstar shivered and looked at Nightstar. "The kit's playing with my mind Nightstar." he whispered slightly, mostly to himself. He looked at Foxpaw and his eyes grew tender, then sad. "She'll die if I leave her." He whispered. 

((Dodododooooo........ok I'm bored. Sparrowpaw hasn't been active for the past couple of days. Time for me to do a bit of PP, if that's what you'd call it.))

Shadesky walked back into camp, panting from the traing he'd done with Sparrowpaw. SHe was good, and would need her final as.sessment soon. As he padded towards the fresh-kill pile, he noticed a black and yellow and red snake slithering into the nursery, it's fangs showing. SNarling, Shadesky sprinted foward just as the last bit of snake went through the entrance to the nursery. Sliding to a turn, a few tufts of fur caught in the brambles as he charged through. Unsheathing his claws, which had grown unusually long and black, he pounced, landing on the snake just before it struck. The snake hissed, then snapped at Shadesky, so close that it just touched his fur. Breathing hard from the experience, he pawed down the snake's head, then scratched through the slimy skin it had. As his fur started to relax, he did the same. But, as he didn't see, the snake, on it's last breathe, snapped at Shadesky and sank it's fangs deep into Shadesky's bottom right leg.

Swiftstar smiled slightly. "Yeah. I'm not sure about the life. Her small body is just barely able to hold my spirit. I would have to ask the others." He smiled sadly at her. "So young, yet such a short life." he whispered. "The prophecy in which she came from." He muttered.

"Well if she's part of a prophecy, you'd better make her live!" She growled unexpectidley.

Swiftstar started. "No! Uhh. what did I say?" He said, worried that he had given something away.

Wolf bounded into the camp and came to a stop next to Swiftstar. Swiftstar's head only reached his shoulder. "Nightstar." he said quietly. He glared slightly at Swiftstar who flinched. "Watch your tongue." he said in a quiet voice, a slight edge of coldness in his voice.

Foxpaw saw Swiftstar and Nightstar and suddenly, she blinked and Wolf was there! "How did he get there?" She wondered out loud quietly.

Canis moved slightly in his sleep, sensing his father was near.

~

Wolf flinched when he felt Canis's soft and tiny mind probe for his. Stop, my son. Rest. He sent peaceful images to his son and he felt the mind slide away and into the dark bliss once more. 

Wolf shrugged. "Yeah, but still. I don't want him to see me a lot. The only reason I came today was one, he's toying with Swiftstar, and two, because I miss my mate, and three, because Foxpaw IS part of a prophecy." he said simply. He glanced slightly at her. His own eyes softened like Swiftstar's.

Foxpaw yawned and winced slightly. She rubbed her leg where the tracker had been taken out. She winced again and rubbed her chest. Her heart hurt, but she knew it wasn't her heart hurting. it was Swiftstar's.  She looked at him and she saw terrible sorrow in his eyes. Tears cascaded down his face as he looked at her.

Canis purred in his sleep.

Wolf glanced sharply at Swiftstar. "Swiftstar!" he hissed.

"I can't help it Wolf! I don't want my only descendant to die! And she's so young!" he cried. His knees shook.
