Reedclan Greypaw slept peacefully in the den, until he eventually woke up. His flank was still very sore, and it hurt to move. But he'd have to do it sometime or later, so he might as well do it now. He sat up, and took out the moss in his fur. Greypaw fluffed up his fur, for he was growing cold. Brrrr. He thought, I hope I'm not getting something. Growing a bit worried, he told himself, Nonsense, I'm just cold because I'm cold. Still not convinced he exited the den, using his front legs to do most of the work, because it hurt to move his back legs. Slowly, he began to pad to Rabbitfoot's den.
Palestripe nodded, "I feel well enough. I don't blame you for wanting to stay in camp either. But, the clan needs to be fed, and I don't want to go hungry." she padded away, and waited for the other members of the hunting patrol.

Rabbitfoot ReedClan medicine cat
"I wouldn't lie about, or for, any cat," Rabbitfoot replied carefully after a few heartbeats of silence. She had turned away from Lakeripple, to select and gather the remedies for the warrior's wounds. "Who knows what his real intentions were? Perhaps he'd set out to find the fox, or he was honestly caught off-guard by the intruder. I agree with you to an extent, however... He needs guidance. Yet again, name me an apprentice that doesn't in any way."
She padded forwards, and gently spilled out some poppy seeds from between her jaws onto a small, flat stone slab at her paws. Rabbitfoot liked this little slab - it had been Elmrise's idea, to have a simple surface that could display her prescribed medicines and wouldn't decompose over time, like a leaf. "Eat those up, but avoid eating them all at the same time. They'll tone down the pain. As for your scratches, they aren't open, so they won't bleed heavily, although I can see some light red marks...." She squinted as she craned her neck closer, sniffing intently. "Lucky the fox used its nails, not its teeth - otherwise you'd be in bigger trouble. I'll make a chervil leaf paste now. One moment. Just try to relax, lie down over there if you like."
Before she turned away, she gestured with her tail at a little enclosed space huddled between sheltering stems of grass. It was a nest of feathers and moss, much like Elmrise's soft bed. "I reserve that spot for patients. Now sit tight, I won't be long."
Swanflight ReedClan deputy
"In that case, then yes, go hunting," Swanflight finished collectedly, with an appreciative dip of his head. However careless or complicated she had been earlier, at least now she was showing some dedication to doing some real assistance for the Clan. "Beware of the foxes. If you come across any signs of dangerous predators, let me know."
The white tomcat allowed her to depart, before he let his head sag a little. It was only midmorning, and yet, he was already feeling a little spent. Still. There was some energy left in his muscles, bubbling quietly and excitedly, with many hours of sunlight yet to pass. Again, Elmrise entered his mind, but he patiently excused her, to approach the warriors' den and await the arrival of the rest of the Clan.
Elmrise ReedClan queen
A third kit. Again, Elmrise reached around to investigate the newest kitten. Again, it was coloured very dark, but instead it was a grey streaked with black as opposed being the other way around, like the tortoiseshell kitten. It appeared to be the smallest out of the three already born. Elmrise cleaned it vigorously, following its transfer closer to her belly, easing it into breathing.
"Another daughter," she whispered, her eyes gleaming. "And I think... I think that's it..." The queen sighed and hesitantly lay back, watching her three brand new babies squirm and quiver in the open air of the nursery. "We'll tell Rabbitfoot afterwards... Something tells me she's busy. Echopaw, Jaypaw, look... you both have a new brother, and two sisters!"

Lakeripple bent her head and licked up a few poppy seeds. "Hmmm, Greypaw just seems....more misguided then's usual for an apprentice." Lakeripple's eyes widened. "Wait! I left some fresh-kill out in the territory, what are the chances of someone going and fetching it? I'm not going anywhere like this," Lakeripple's ears drooped as she spoke. She felt horrible, though she refused to tell Rabbitfoot. Her nose was warm and she was trying not to shiver.
Afraid that she might be sick, Lakeripple finished the last of the poppy seeds and climbed into the feather-nest. "When will the next Gathering be?" she yawned.

Rabbitfoot ReedClan medicine cat
"Don't worry about the kill," she advised coolly. "Swanflight will eventually send out a hunting party. But if you think you can explain exactly where it is, I'm sure a warrior will bring it back for you."
The medicine cat gathered chervil leaves from the tight, thorny compartments in the store of the gorse. She then lumbered lazily up to where Lakeripple had settled herself, and lay down in the sand opposite, her forepaws out before her chest. "As for the Gathering, I'm not sure. It won't be tonight. Tonight, we'll be giving Kitty her warrior name." The medicine cat sighed again. "Such an eventful day - Elmrise having kits, the fox attack, accepting a kittypet into the Clan..." Then her ears flattened and she stared up into the sky, her pupils narrow slits of alarm. "Aargh, I left Elmrise alone in the nursery!" she scolded herself, stressed. "But she'll be fine, I'm certain... She's had kits before..."
Quickly, Rabbitfoot's mouth fastened itself around one of the smaller leaves, and she began to chew on them fiercely, letting her shame at abandoning the queen seep into the medicine like the saliva that was turning it into a thick, healing paste.

((Sorry I had to get off the computer quite suddenly and didn't have the time to color my last post.))
"I'm sure Elmrise will be fine," Lakeripple tried to soothe the medicine cat. "Like you said, she's done this before, and she isn't completely on her ow-" Lakeripple didn't finish her sentence, her nose started to itch, and she sneezed. A cold fear shot down her spine like lightning. She was sick. Lakeripple glanced at Rabbitfoot, "oh, I had some pollen that must've gotten up my nose," she said weakly. That was a feeble lie, but she had to hope it would work. "Anyway, I started at the small stream that runs away from the border. Then I worked my way up river while hunting, if someone follows that path, they should come across all the prey I burried." Lakeripple wasn't watching Rabbitfoot as she spoke, afraid of what she might see in the other cat's eyes. What if she had some sickness the medicine cat couldn't cure?

[[Don't know why the font went like this. o-o]]
Reedclan Greypaw entered Rabbitfoot's den. Another shiver went through him as he shook out his fur. Brrr. He thought. Why am I so cold? He called out, "Rabbitfoot, I've come here for more cobwebs." That was basically a lie, he did need them, for they were starting to fall off. He tried to sniff the air, but he let out a cough, for his nose felt like someone had just stuffed something up there. Instead of sniffing, he tasted the air. Rabbitfoot wasn't the only cat in here. Lakeripple. He thought.

[I'm very sorry Tlud </3 School's been getting in the way. I spend every waking moment from 6:30 till 9:15 or so studying, and by the time I get all my work done I'm too exhausted to think or even move for that matter. I could handle one or two characters max, the others have to be taken :/ I'm sorry. ]

OOC: Tld - If Twint quit, then we may as well just remove her characters from the storyline. Pretend they never existed? Pretend Kitty never found the Clan, make Echopaw and Greypaw the only apprentices in ReedClan, ect. As for ReedClan's leader.... Well, I'd offer to make a character to replace hers, but since I already have the deputy and the medicine cat, I can't take another powerful role. Perhaps someone would like to instantly promote one of their characters to ReedClan's leader? Since the Clans are meant to have fewer cats than normal, it won't be such a bad idea to eliminate her characters, would it? Just remove them from the character list on the first page if you want to go with this idea. EDIT - It's ok, Twint. I had exams recently too. I won't think bad of you for leaving. I can only wish you luck, I guess :) Stay with only two or so characters if you won't, I don't have a problem with whatever you decide to do. Perhaps they find Ebony on a patrol? Or on le hunting party? :3
Rabbitfoot ReedClan medicine cat
Rabbitfoot resumed her thorough chew, first ignoring Lakeripple's sneeze, but then she stiffened when the warrior began to babble. The medicine cat wouldn't even listen to Lakeripple's directions for her kills - she was simply bewildered as to why the silver tabby would rush so hastily into covering up a simple sneeze.
She edged closer and cleanly spat out the paste onto the cat's scratches, easing out the mixture with her tongue and paws over the raw red lines. Rabbitfoot let the silence gape between them, mainly in order to concentrate, and to plan her words with precision. "It's strange how pollen should make you sneeze," she commented quietly. "Leaf-bare has only just ended. I have seen no flowers blooming yet. The trees themselves have only begun to bud." Softening her stare, the medicine cat studied Lakeripple. "If you do have a cold, don't keep it to yourself, lest it spread. A traceless outbreak of whitecough or other is the last thing ReedClan needs. Don't be frightened, either. Colds can be cured."
At the sound of Greypaw, Rabbitfoot turned around, and was about to greet him in turn before his throat worked and he let out a cough. It was only then when concern settled on her face. "You haven't slept long," Rabbitfoot remarked lightly - contrasting to the alarm that fluttered inside her heart. "I only sent you away just before Lakeripple arrived. Nevertheless, you could do with a chervil leaf paste yourself. Set yourself down in the sand, I'll be with you now."

((I agree with Wolfeira, it would make things a little less complicated. Twint, good luck with your work, if you have to leave, then that's fine with me. I've enjoyed your posts, but if you can't find the time, I won't think badly of you either.))
Lakeripple sighed. "Maybe I am sick, but I'd like to get some rest first. Otherwise I won't be able to tell how bad it actually is. That feels better," she added, closing her eyes while enjoying the cooling sensation on her scratches. "If you don't mind, I'll let you work with Greypaw, and I'll just-" Lakeripple yawned, "take a little nap."
She didn't wait for Rabbitfoot's reply, settling down into the moss and feathers, Lakeripple allowed herself to be swept into the comforting darkness of sleep.
The twoleg who was caring for her, sticking those needles full of medicine in her fur, was gripping Lakeripple much too tightly.
"Get off mange pelt!" she tried to snarl at him. The twoleg merely smiled, and began to coo in what he probably thought was a comforting manor. He squeezed Lakeripple too tightly though, and she reduced her cry to a small whimper.
That was it. She'd had enough.
Lakeripple's dream changed though, to relive a more peaceful time in her life. She could faintly hear Rabbitfoot talking, before she blocked out the noise and drifted off again.

Byrd racked her memory for anything that would relate to this black cat. Oh, wait, I remember her. I saw her a few times. "I think you've seen me around. I've seen you. Uh, my name's Byrd," she answered. Seeing the cat tug at her collar, Byrd glanced down and saw her boring old brown leather one. It was small and fit snug, but not tight enough to be uncomfortable. The other cat's had a jingly bell. One of Byrd's littermates, she remembered, had gotten a jingly bell on his collar. He rather liked it, but that was a long time ago. This cat seemed to dislike her bell. Byrd couldn't blame her - if she herself had to walk around with a jingly sound every time she took a pawstep, she'd get pretty fed up with the thing, too. Thinking about it now, Byrd wondered why the cat would simply just tear it off. Oh, well, duh... housefolk'll just stick on a new one, Byrd answered herself a bit sarcastically.
--- Riverstone sat. [Nothing do to with him, so accept da fail.] --- Ashfoot sleeps. --- Paleflower, as she awaited a response from her mentor, continued to sort the herbs. She soon finished up. The large stone wall in the back of the medicine den had niches, in which each herb had its own niche, acting like a mini-den. It was quite efficient and maybe even a tad cute.

[[ I also agree with Wolf, so Icefeather and Swallowtrill should continue on their patrol as if nothing had happened? Bye bye, Twintherp :c Good luck in the exams, though. And since Ice is back, maybe finding Skywalker would be easier, since he's all alone :u ]]
"It's nice to meet you, Byrd, I'm Ebony!" She said in a cheerful mew. Giving her irritating bell a final swipe, she sighed and looked back out at the forest. "Do you ever go out into the... Wilderness, Byrd?" Ebony asked uncertainly. "I want to, but my littermates have told me about the wild cats that live out there. They're supposed to be savage!" Her paws shifted uncomfortably at the thought of the supposed wild cats.
---
Skywalker continued onwards in his little expedition, following a small river that seemed to lead into a large lake. His amber eyes shined with curiosity as he wandered into the unfamiliar territory, ears pricked and alert for any sound. Skywalker occasionally paused to sniff at a stray bush or shyly dip his paw into the river in attempts to catch small fish, but he continued walking alongside the river.

OOC: Okay then. 'Tis sorted I guess. Aaaand I'm gonna put something for Spidermask. He'd being neglected horribly. But one last note. Apparently the chervil leaf paste stings when applied to open wounds. Whoopsie |D
Spidermask LeafClan warrior
After waiting for a small age, the long-furred tom ascended edgily to his paws. He stared the way he'd come. Would he really get punished for eating whatever he caught, after he caught it? Were the rules he'd been explained truly that strict? He felt his belly complain.
...Surely one vole didn't violate the rules of StarClan?
Spidermask repeated the name in his head several times. StarClanStarClanStarClan. Each time the word rolled after the other, he felt his contempt swell a little more, like an overflowing puddle. It was growing with each little raindrop. Each little letter.
Hmph. It didn't matter whether Spidermask personally thought they were real or not. To fit into the Clan - the real, breathing, physical one - he had to hunt. Spidermask turned. Eyed the dense pine forest shrouding the forest floor with gloom near him. He trotted closer and squeezed noiselessly underneath a thick mass of brambles, slinking underneath the fanged entrails, his long fur being combed by anything he failed to miss. Once through the barricade, his paws began to carry him across a carpet of pine needles, and a new predatoriness filtered his gaze.
Swanflight ReedClan deputy
The deputy noticed Riverstone sitting, idle, off-centre in the clearing. Swanflight slowly stood to approach the bored-looking tomcat. "That little incident added some excitement to our morning, didn't it?" he commented, referring to the fox invasion. "But with the absence of turmoil, Clan life will go on as normal. Riverstone, you are needed for a hunting party. Palestripe will go with you, along with Sandflight - if you can find her."
The white cat sighed. "That's all for now, but I said this to Palestripe and I'll repeat it for you - keep a keen eye out for foxes, or badgers, or anything else. If you come across anything unsettling, tell me. And..." He sank his tone to sound humbler. "Try your hardest to be quick about it."
Rabbitfoot ReedClan medicine cat
Rabbitfoot returned with the small, jagged-edges leaves in her teeth. She set them down to watch Lakeripple. "Of course," Rabbitfoot whispered. "Sleep there, for as long as you want..."
Then, following a quick, relaxed glance at Greypaw, licked up the chervil leaves and began to gnaw them once again. She stood, brushing his shoulder with her tail, telling him to lie down. His medicine would then be easier to apply.

((I think most LeafClan cats are a little neglected right now XD))
LeafClan
Icefeather paused to brush herself against the bushes, leaving a faint scent trail there. "I wonder why ReedClan hasn't checked their borders along here yet," she wondered aloud. "Normally they're out before we are."
"Say Swallowtrill, how would you like to practice our fighting skills together sometime later? I feel a little soft right now." The clan hadn't had any major battles recently, and Icefeather did think she felt a bit soft. There was only so much you could do hunting for the clan. There just hadn't been anything of importance lately, no new litters of kits, nothing.
---
ReedClan
Echopaw nuzzled Yewkit one more time before leaving him to their mother. "I think Lakeripple and Swanflight are back," he murmured. "Shall I go and fetch Greypaw to watch you? I'd like to hear about the foxes," Echopaw asked sheepishly. He was being a selfish little kit, wanting to go and hear about foxes while his mother needed his care. "I'd be happy to stay though," he added quickly, ducking his head.
---
((Whoops, I couldn't remember what Chervil paste did exactly))
Lakeripple felt herself waking, but refused to open her eyes. She felt stronger, much more rested, but her nose was still warm and dry. "Hey Rabbitfoot, I'm awake," she tried to mutter, but her mouth seemed to be glued shut. All that she managed was a strangled little meow, containing now words whatsoever.
Lakeripple stretched her limbs slightly, breathing deeply through her mouth. It was uncomfortable to inhale through her dry nose at the moment. She could hear small sounds of breathing, and the shifting of herbs. Outside she thought she could discern a few distant voices. Lakeripple wondered briefly if Swanflight had been checked over yet.

ReedClan The cat's name, Ebony, was quite pretty, she had to admit. Byrd cocked her head ever so slightly at Ebony's question next. "Well... Sort of," she mewed. "It's pretty cool to look at all the stuff in the wilderness that isn't out here. I've been inside a little bit but not far. However I haven't heard of the wild cats. I wonder how they even stay alive! ...Maybe they eat each other when they starve!" --- Riverstone looked up at Swanflight, a light returning to his face with something to do. "Yes, the fox invasion was quite the event. And I'll be glad to go on a hunting party... Speaking of Palestripe and Sandflight, where are they?" As for Swanflight's last mention, Riverstone said nothing, but his eyes did.

[[ Of course Twintherp is re-accepted! Should we allow Swallowtrill and Icefeather to continue on their patrol, with Willowleaf silently trailing along, or would you rather start her back in the camp? I'd like the LeafClan cats to start moving with the plot, but Kupa seems to have quit, she's not responding to the rMails ><'' Not sure what to do with Pinestar. ]]
Ebony pulled a face at Byrd's last comment, a bit appalled at the thought. "Are these cats as savage as the rumors describe them?" She asked the she-cat, staring out at the trees, as if expecting a wild cat to jump out right at them, then back at her newfound friend. "Even if they live like... Like monsters, I think life outside would be pretty nice." She hesitantly admitted. "I've always longed to explore outside, but I've only gone as far as this wretched fence." Ebony sighed, looking back out at the trees in a wistful manner.
---
"Sure!" Swallowtrill replied with a chirp. "And maybe we can invite some other cats to spar with us, like Flamestripe or Ashfoot!" She stopped her chattering, however, when the stench of ReedClan hit her nose, making Swallowtrill double back with a surprised spring. She gingerly craned her neck to sniff the air again, then recoiling back next to Icefeather. "... Huh, I could've sworn to StarClan that the border was a little farther away..." Then she quickly shook her head. "Ah, I always forget these kind of things. Guess I just made a little mistake."
---
Skywalker had continued on his journey, occasionally stopping to catch a nearby mouse. All of his efforts ended in failure, though he was always missing the mouse by a whisker. Grumbling and continuing onto his treck after another unsuccessful hunt, Skywalker stopped when off to the side of the river lay a grassy plain [ ReedClan Territory ]. Curious, Skywalker abandoned his trail along the river, making his way into the plain. "This is... Cooool..." He breathed to himself as he marveled at the lush green grass and rolling hills. It was beautiful and serene here, and the only thing that made the little black tom stop his exploring was the scent of other cats. Skywalker paused when he sniffed them out, quickly realizing that this area was flooded with the scent of many, many different cats.

OOC: Yay, Twint is back :D Eh.... I realized I made a mistake with Elmrise's colour. She's calico, not tortoiseshell. I didn't know what the difference was before. x3
Elmrise ReedClan queen
"No, no," she murmured. "You go and find out what happened. I'm curious to know how they dealt with the fox myself. But storytelling can wait..." Slowly, like melting ice, her head set down on a upturned duck feather. "Much as I've loved your being here, I will rest now. Echopaw and Jaypaw, go and enjoy the sun. Swanflight will have duties for you, I'm sure..."
I will need names for my two daughters as well. The two tabbies and the tortoiseshell (OOC: I'm certain x3) had settled by now, quietly gathered at Elmrise's belly, eagerly enjoying their first real meal. Elmrise just lay with her eyes like slits.
Swanflight ReedClan deputy
"Palestripe has already set out, I think," Swanflight replied. "She must be near to the camp, or already in the tunnel. But Sandflight... I'm not all that sure..." He noticed how fulfilment had twinkled in Riverstone's eye at the uttering of his orders. Should Swanflight himself become leader, this grey warrior would be the trustworthy cat assigned as his own second-in-command. His attitude just seemed... perfect, for it.
"If you want, head out now with Palestripe. I will send Sandflight after you."
Rabbitfoot ReedClan medicine cat
It had come as a surprise to the medicine cat. One moment, she was resuming her chew on the leaves, easing their flat feel into a gluelike mass. Then a heartbeat later she was pushing out the mixture with her tongue onto the herb-slab. Her jaws clacked once or twice, jowls working, trying to dump out her hard work. Rabbitfoot surveyed it ardently but quickly, to fly to Lakeripple's side.
"That was a quick nap," she remarked quietly, sincerely. Would Lakeripple even be able to answer? Her cry for attention had sounded more like a broken meow than a request for Rabbitfoot's attendance. Well. She assumed that's what it was...
She sniffed the warrior's face. Her whiskers strained forward. "Your nose is dry... Be honest, Lakeripple - do you think you're coming down with a cold?"
Spidermask LeafClan warrior
Twitched. Froze. Gnawed again. Twitched. Froze. Listened. Chewed more. Scraping. Tail twitching. Froze. Twitched again.
Spidermask took in every quivering fleck of the squirrel's curled tail. Its beady, black eyes, escalated high on its fine skull. The small ears. Nimble forepaws, working with its teeth at the nut clenched between his fingers. Its russet face and cloudy fur.
The black tomcat scarpered out, like a propelled furbag of darkness, from his stalking point underneath a green log. The squirrel was faster than Spidermask. It was flying up the bark of a nearby tree before the warrior had reached the nut it had deserted to make its getaway. It chattered harshly. Taunting him.
Energy raged through Spidermask and threw him up the tree, too. The squirrel shrieked in fright and began to ascend higher. Spidermask gave up after he'd passed the second branch, and shot back to earth again. He landed heavily, with his ears pressed flat as if from the landing. Or perhaps to block out the squirrel's raucous laughter, fading as it switched from pine to pine, invisible but for a shifting of flimsy branches. Well. What an embarrassing failure.

Byrd smiled a tad mischeviously. "Then why don't you? Well, why don't we?" she said. "Exploring is going to be so much fun. And I'd feel much safer with a companion that's coming with me. Let's go past this boring old fence, together, and see what's really out there!" Her eyes glinted with a new excitement that was pure. She had never felt so alive, nor so reckless, in all her life. Although it didn't mean Byrd would be doing this 'bad-cat' stuff regularly. But... the thoughts of a journey were stirring in her mind, and every second it was there she got more excited. Her paws were itching to get going.
--- Riverstone nodded to his deputy, "Alright, I'll go meet up with Palestripe. Best of luck to finding Sandflight." Then he went off into the forest to go find his fellow warrior to hunt for his Clan. Following the familiar ReedClan scent to meet up with her, he couldn't help but feel someone - or something - else's presence. Partway in, he called out, "Palestripe?" Then it hit him. Uh, rather, it hit his nose. A stranger's scent. Like... Loner. Kittypet. Something like that. One thing was for sure - it wasn't ReedClan. Tracking the scent, Riverstone's fur bristled at the thought of an intruder. A fox was enough for one day. The sounds of the river that casually ran through his Clan's territory wove into his ears, almost being calming. Peering through the bushes, he saw no stranger cat, though the scent was stronger. The gray tom continued his pursuit of this cat.
