[Hawkgaze wants to patrol with Rainheart, and Stormfang with Stardust. And Sunflare needs to answer Nightstorm. Er...I'm just confused. How about we start with all the mentioned cats gathered, and then Waterstar comes up with the patrols.]

[Fein] Stormfang sighed impatiently and licked his flank in quiet frustration. Where is Daypaw? he thought distractedly. He swept his eyes across the clearing once more, then let out another sharp hiss when he couldn't find her. His attention then flickered to Stardust, and an intense longing filled his heart. I wish she would notice me, he thought sadly. She looked so happy to him, no doubt delighted about leading a patrol. Then, of course he saw Daypaw slinking out of the den and leaping onto her favorite rock. "Daypaw! You must have missed me," he called out, padding over to her. "I suppose my pelt blends in with the shadows." It was clear that he was acting nicely to make up for his being irritated at her earlier. It was rather early to wake up. But still, he couldn't help being an active cat. ~ Hawkgaze purred in his own deep rumbling voice and stepped out of the warrior's den, his black pelt gleaming with health and evidence of good eating. He walked over to the fresh-kill pile, his belly rumbling with hunger as he chose a plump mouse. Carrying it over to where the other warriors were speaking, he dropped it onto the ground so he could speak. "I heard some talk of a fox. Is there anything wrong?" he asked Sunflare mildly, then turned his yellow-gold gaze on Rainheart. "Who's part of this patrol?" ~ Nightstorm padded up to Sunflare after Waterstar and the patrol had set off. "What's going on?" she mewed curiously, swiping her jaws with her tongue. "I heard a bit of commotion from Whisperpaw but that's all." ~ Whisperpaw ran up to his mentor excitedly. "What's going on. Is there really a fox in the forest?" He mewed this eagerly, looking up at Willowleaf with wide eyes. I've never seen a fox, he thought suddenly. "Can I come? I've never seen a fox here before and I really want to see one. Please Willowleaf?" ~ Willowpaw gaze Whisperpaw a withering look as she padded up behind him. "Calm down Whisperpaw. There's going to be plenty of chances to see a fox around here. By StarClan, it's a forest." "And trust me," she added, lowering her voice with sudden intensity. "You don't ever want to see those mangy creatures. "Never. They're only pieces of crowfood." ~ Scree padded through the forest, intent only on the large rabbit which was eating gras.s only a few foxlengths from her. Finally, the first piece of fresh-kill in sunhighs! She licked her lips and crouched low to the ground, using the ferns and tall gras.ses as cover while she slinked forwards slowly.

Sunflare turned around to see Hawkgaze and a few other cats gathering around him. "Yes, Waterstar has instructed me to send a small group of cats to drive out the fox." He looked around. "Perhaps Willowleaf and Owlfeather could go." He mumbled, glancing at the black tom who was rolling around the camp with Coalpaw. "And Stardust, instead, perhaps you could lead a patrol with your apprentice and Stormfang and Daypaw." He nodded in the direction of Daypaw. --- Daypaw looked down to see Stormfang. "Oh." She mumbled. "There he is." Daypaw leapt down from her rock and padded up to sit in front of her mentor. "Yes, yes. You're pelt certainly does blend in rather well." She drawled, deciding to humor Stormfang. --- Owlfeather looked up to see Sunflare approaching them. Sunflare sat down. "Owlfeather." He twitched his ginger ear. "Could you go on a fox hunt with Willowleaf and Waterstar?" Owlfeather glanced at Coalpaw, then nodded. "Alright then, Sunflare." He mewed, then nodded at Coalpaw. He bounded off to join Willowleaf. "Hey!" He said cheerily. "Sunflare said we're on a foxhunting patrol with Waterstar."

Stormfang cuffed his apprentice's ear lightly. 'Well, next time try to do more than just looking around the clearing. It should have been simple to scent me. We'll practise this while we're hunting, alright?' His tail flicked with anticipation. 'It's been ages since Sunflare put me on a hunting patrol,' he mewed to Stardust. ~ Willowpaw looked up at her mentor beseechingly. 'Do you think we could go? It's been so long since we've patrolled anything.' She lowered her gaze and felt her pelt go hot. 'I...I mean if Sunflare says it's alright,' she stammered with embaras.sment. ~ |

Stardust nodded at Stormfang and Daypaw in acknowledgement. "Good morning to you too." She mewed, grinned and turned around, looking for her apprentice. "Hazepaw!" She called, looking around the camp. She saw him in the morning, but now he seemed to be gone again. "Where di he go?" She sighed. "He's been aching to do a patrol." --- Daypaw looked up at Stormfang and quietly followed him. "While you two look for Hazepaw, I'll just go... here." She mumbled, leaping off and walking up to Whisperpaw and Willowpaw. "Good morning, you two." She mewed breezily and softly. |

"What's all this talk about a fox?" It was always embarr*censored*ing to be one of the last apprentices to hear the news, but Qauilpaw had heard bad stories about foxes. The small gray can nudged past Whisperpaw so that he could talk to Willowpaw more comfortably. "Foxes are really dangerous, aren't they? I heard they can be as smart as a cat- and in fact," he added, with a grave look on his face, "I heard that that some warriors- not just apprentices, but warriors- actually died from a fox attack. Is that true? Is it?"

Daypaw rolled her eyes. "Oh, please, Quailpaw." She said in her usual soft and quiet voice. "Foxes only live for crowfood and scavenge the forests for already dead prey, their meat stringy and hard from age. They cannot be as smart as us, if they are, they would be living in camps just like this." She flicked her tail in the direction of the dens. "A group of well-trained warriors can easily take out a fox, unless it's rabid." Her eyes flashed with mischief when she said that. "I heard a rabid fox doubles its strength, as it no longer fears for its life."

((I am going to go fight the fox because Waterstar is supposed to lose a life. I got confused when Rainheart said that he was going to and my mind is jumbled from an essay. Can we just do some sort of highrock thing where I announce cats?))
