He sighed and lifted his head to look at her. Here goes He thought. "I-I," He growled angrily at himself for not being able to say it. He took a deep breath and tried again. Jay felt strangely let down, even though Kris kept her promise and didn't hate him. I guess I was hoping that she would like me back. He thought, laughing bitterly at himself. I guess the fact that she doesn't hate me is good enough for right now.

They had just gotten to the end of the tunnel when a cold wind started to blow. Jay shivered slightly but kept walking, silent all the while.

Kris saw Jay shiver, and promptly went into mental debate. Give the jacket back to him. it's FREEZING out here, and you did splash him with water. But, he gave it to me, remember. Yes, but you also just shrugged as he claimed his affection That was pretty harsh. She couldn't argue with that one. "Here," Kris said, handing the coat back. "You look cold."

Jay sighed and took the jacket. But he didn't put it on. Instead, he put it back on Kris's shoulders. He left his hand's on her shoulder while he looked her in the eye. "I told you. I'm not accepting this jacket back until we are inside. I'll be fine, I promise."
