Benthris shrugged. "Normally a kind place, but potentially hostile." She laughed blandly. "Do boxes have brains?" She stopped for a minute. "Anyway, unicorns live in England and gummy bears don't come out at this time of day." It would be hard to tell whether it was day or night, considering the only light came from the burning branch she held and her hair and eyes.

(I know right? They were invented there at the same time they were invented in Germany.)

Benthris came across a large lake. She sighed, in a bit of an annoyed way. "I hate doing this, it kills so many things and destroys the land." She bent down, touching the shallow water with her hand. Instantly, the water evaporated to nothing.

Benthris shook her head. "Thousand years' run. I was thinking of a short cut." She held out her hand to Kira, looking at him straight in the eye. "Trust me. It will only be a few minutes."

Benthris closed her eyes, fire spreading over the ground. She hoped the fire wouldn't burn Kira, but there was a good chance it would. Soon enough, nothing could see in the wall of fire and nothing could see out.

Benthris looked right at Kira, right in the eyes. She gently took his hand and closed her eyes, her hand turning a bright amber color.

Benthris knew he was blushing, she could feel it through his hand. Her hand turned black, traveling up her body like vines. It was a slow process, only halfway up her arm. "Why... Why are you blushing?" She suddenly realised what she'd said and covered her mouth with her other hand. She opened her eyes, looking right into Kira's eyes the kind and loving way she never had before. "I won't hurt you, I never will. Trust me."

Benthris smiled kindly. She glowed in the firelight, quite literally. "I'll be back in a few minutes. I can hear a threat coming this way." She slowly let go of Kira's hand and walked through the fire. She stood, turning her head and watching for the threat. She saw to dark figures in the distance. One limped, the other bent over in a hurling position. "Not them again. Kira, come out here and don't smile, don't speak, don't move."

Benthris kept her eyes on the approaching people. "You could have just walked through. But their mad now, and I don't think they'll go easy on us like last time." She put her hand up and cast a flaming shield around the area, waving the same way water would. She walked into the forest. "Anything in this area will be temporarily invisible to them. They could walk through it without knowing, but we need to find a good place to hide. Our only option is the nearby village to the east."
