Shadow replied with a nod,"I'm fine. Good thing I didn't kill her. She's a good fighter." She smiled and then went over to Zane. "Not a scratch on you that I can see. The splice that fought you not that good?",she asked and then looked over at the scientist still standing nearby.
(Ok,thought you wanted her to win.)

((She'll win some other time I suppose.))
" He was absolutely pathetic, "' Zane admitted. He didn't like saying bad things about the other splices, but it was true. He wasn't sure why that one hadn't already been disposed of. Usually the ones who were weak in body or mind disappeared rather quickly.
The scientists grabbed the pokemon, the lower ranking one holding the loosing team and the higher ranking one holding the winning team. The lower rank didn't even need to be told what to do with the pokemon. He simply carried them away to receive their punishment for losing. The other rewarded the winners with one Oran Berry each. Now more praise than that was given, as it was expected for each pokemon to try their hardest to follow orders. Instead of the scientist taking a moment to tell them they they did good, which most any decent trainer did, he just silently returned them to the socializing room so he could analyze his data.
((I'm thinking of having a pretty big time skip soon. Like big enough that some of the splices are evolving. That way it won't just be there can be time for the pokemon to bond to each other and stuff but we won't have to wait forever for some real action. Might do it in a page or two unless you have something you want to do first.))

(That's fine. I don't care when.)
Shadow waited until they were back in the socilizing room to say,"I'm sure they would have already gotten rid of the splice you fought. Why didn't they?" She sat down and leaned against the wall before she decided to wait on him to say something and began to play with her tail.

" Maybe it was a recent change. " Zane proposed. The punishments did that to splices sometimes. They would come into the world, more than happy to fight, but after messing up a few times the fear of being punished became more than they could handle and they lose their minds to it. He was glad that he was a bit stronger than that. It would truely be a terrible thing to lose your mind in such a way.
Lekke stayed limp and unconscious in the scientist's arms for several minutes before she was finally revived by a medical scientist. The first feeling she felt was shame. She had failed and lost the battle. She had no doubt in her mind that her trainer was disappointed in her for being unable to take down her opponent when one had such a clear type weakness. She barely registered the fact that her partner was gone, taken away to a room where he would be used to teach a splice to kill. She just stared at the floor, trying to figure out where in the battle she ahd gone wrong and how she could have changed things to make herself be the one who came out on top.

Shadow nodded and replied,"Punishments are cruel,so most likely it was a more recent change, but I believe he won't face another punishment again..."

" Oh there's no doubt about that, " Zane said with a frown, " With a failure like that I doubt he'll face another meal. " That was how any of the splices refered to the disappearances of the others. Saying words like death made everything so sober, reminding them all of the worst punishment of all. It was for the best to find some kind of metaphor. "...Anyway...what was it you were going to tell me about before we got dragged into that battle? "
When he trainer entered the room, Lekke couldn't bring her self to look up past his knees. She didn't want to see the disappointed look that she knew was on his face. " You know what the cost of failure is, right? " He asked her. Lekke nodded, keeping her eyes on the ground.
Normally for a failed battle a splice would be surrounded by their weakness in some way. Fire types would be forced to swim. Grass types would be forced to sit on hot coals. Due to her type combination, weaknesses weren't very common. In fact, the only weaknesses she had were ones that could be neutralized by a simple water attack. So she got a special treatment where the particularly young splices clawed and bit at her back as they learned their first attacks. " You don't want that to happen, do you? " her trainer asked. She shook her head again, making her trainer respond with something rather surprising. " Then don't fail me again. " He...wasn't going to punish her?
((It's okay. Mine would probably be short too if it weren't for the fact that my characters are always thinking a million and one things.))

(Lol,yeah.)
Shadow thought for a moment and finally replied,"Oh yeah! You can come with me is you help me find a way out and into the new world." "I was thinking we wait 'til night and slip out of our sleeping cages. I learned how to unlock mine and could easily do the same to yours. We get past the scientists through the vents that lead outside and we should be good, unless we bump into anyone on our way.",her mouth rested near his ear as she whispered the plan she had built together and added,"It doesn't sound like a great plan, but it might just work."

" Are you sure that would work? Those vents don't even open, and if we broke them someone would notice! " Zane commented with concern. He liked the whole escaping idea, but the plans for exactly how Shadow wanted to do it didn't sound very...good. If they couldn't get into the vents, then they would have nothing left to do but slink back to their punishment. Even if the vent idea worked, there would likely be places they couldn't climb through, namely vents that went straight up. He knew for a fact that they were underground from some of the things the scientists said to each other, and from what he could tell that meant that they would have to go up to get to the surface. Actually, maybe trying to escape was a bad idea.
Lekke looked up at her trainer, and while she saw quite a lot of disappointment, she also saw some pride. Why was he happy? Hadn't she failed? Usually that would make him angry... " I saw how hard you fought in there. If you had a better partner then I'm sure you would have won easily. " He had a point. If he partner had actually helped her with the pokemon who had the type advantage over her, then the battle would have been no challenge at all. " In fact, I've devised a way to keep something like this from ever happening again. You will be getting a battle partner. One who will join you for all of your team activities and will be more competent. " her trainer told her. Lekke perked up, eyes growing wide with curiosity. She had never heard of something like happening before. Battles were always random.
((I think I'm going to make Lekke a friend. She seems a little lonely.))

(That sounds good.)
Shadow nodded and said,"I know it's a terrible idea, but I just recently came up with it. Maybe we could just run through the halls after escaping our cages and risk being caught on camera and captured, but I heard of someone who escaped with that plan and made it out." She didn't like the ideas she had been coming up with and sighed as she noticed the one she just came up with was even worse.

((I'll make the character a sometime today. Right now I want to get caught up on all of my rps.))
" Well... maybe we should wait until we're a little stronger. I'm certain we'll have to fight our way out at some point, and right now we're way too weak to do that. " Zane proposed. It wouldn't be nice having to stay here even longer, but right now it didn't look like they had much of a choice. Sure someone else managed to escape with a plan like Shadows, but they didn't know anything about who had escape. They could be a human for all he knew. A human who didn't want to be here and left.
Lekke's trainer smiled down at her. " It's good that you are excited about this. Splices like you will lead Team Rocket into an age of glory greater than any one before it. Perhaps even better than the days before Giovanni left us. " Lekke blinked with surprise. From what her trainer told her Giovanni was the greatest man who ever ruled Team Rocket. He vanished during Team Rocket's darkest time, but her trainer believed that he would return some day when Team Rocket regained the power it lost in the past. She wasn't sure she could do anything as amazing as that man.
" Tomorrow you will see your new partner, so use this time to recover from that battle. " Lekke's owner said as he took her to the crate she slept in. It was in a room that looked like a large closet , and its walls were lined with cages, half of which had pokemon in them. This was where pokemon were put while the scientists slept, and while the cages lacked any warmth, they brought comfort to the splices because nothing bad happened to them here. This was a place of safety, which made it easy for any splice, including Lekke, to fall asleep quickly in their cage.
((Consider the length of this post an apology for disappearing.))

(Alright and I think it's fine you disappeared. I'm sure something important was going on.)
Shadow smiled and said,"It appears you are the better mind here." "I wonder where the scientists are... We normally are in our cages at this time of day.",she changed the subject as another splice passed and tilted her head at Zane.

((It wasn't something important so much as I was in a place without internet for a few days.))
Zane hadn't really thought about it, but it was they were a little late today. Did something happen? He hadn't heard anything and he doubted the battle he was in would cause this delay. However, before the two could wonder on this much longer a couple of scientists entered the room and grabbed the splices, carrying them to the sleep room. " Let's talk more tomorrow, " Zane said to Shadow before he was put in his cage. With his mind so full of plans and ideas, it was hard to fall asleep, but eventually he drifted off, legs twitching as he dreamed of the freedom he instinctively craved.
((After your next post we'll time skip to morning and I'll make the introduction for my new character.))

(Oh.)
Shadow nodded as she was carried across the room and placed in her cage. She curled up with her tail near her face and drifted off into her crazy dreams, arms and legs thrashing at the air.

Eight hours later the scientists returned to their regular places and resumed their regular activities. Splices were made and pitted against each other while notes were taken and plans were made to help Team Rocket regain its power in the world. Two hours after these first activities began, the splices in the sleep room were woken up and taken to the socializing room except for the few who went straight to fighting or training of some kind. Shadow and Zane were taken to the socializing room, while Lekke was led to a place she had never been before by her trainer.
It was a big room with lots of weird sciency things that Lekke didn't know the name of. On the back end of the room were a series of large tubes, each of which contained a splice that was still being made. It was rather disturbing to her and she squirmed uncomfortably in her trainer's arms until he stroked her head to calm her. Why was she in this creepy room? It didn't look like a place where splices normally went unless they were still being made, and she was already done. Did this have to do with the partner her trainer mentioned?
Zane yawned sleepily, hardly waking up when he was taken to the socializing room. He wanted to sleep for a few more minutes and he was determined to get what he wanted, even if it meant sleeping in an area with noise and light. He didn't do more than twitch and open his eyes half way before yawning and curling into a little ball.
Toda twitched, not certain how to act in this new place. He remembered floating in a warm something, and that was pretty okay, but he wasn't in there anymore. He was on something rougher, and he wasn't floating. He opened his eyes instinctively as he took his first few breaths of air that weren't given to him through a tube. Everything was too blurry and bright for him, so he just closed his eyes again, hoping things would be less confusing soon.
((I'm going to assume that pokemon get the ability to walk around and talk pretty soon after being born, kind of like snakes. Except snakes don't talk.))

(Okay. Next thing you know... Snakes talk!)
Shadow didn't even wake up as she was carried to the socializing room, but woke up when she was placed on the cold floor. Going over the Zane she realized he had fallen asleep and sat down besides him, leaning on the wall. She wouldn't dare wake the sleeping splice due to experiences with waking them up before and just watched him, humming a tune to herself.

Lekke stood around for a really long time, or at least it seemed like a long time to her. Why was she here? No one was observing her or preparing some kind of experiment for her. She was just there, waiting for something to happen. She looked up at her trainer to see if he was doing anything, but he was just watching some of the scientists with a bored ex pression on his face. She looked away from him and watched as scientists wrote down things and typed on computers, wishing she was doing something more interesting like fighting.
Toda opened his eyes as something prodded him and lifted him upwards slightly, as though trying to make him stand. He opened his eyes again to try to see what was touching him, but his vision was still fuzzy. The prodding became more urgent, encouraging Toda to get on his feet. It wasn't a particularly hard task for him since he was sitting on his feet. All he had to do was push against the ground, and apparently that was all the prodder needed to see from him. He turned around, getting a glance at a tall pale thing that picked him up. Was that his mom?
Zane yawned and stretched, his eyes staying shut as he rolled over onto something warm. Wait...there wasn't anything warm here. Zane opened his eyes jerked away from the golden splice he just rolled onto. He froze for a moment, worrying that the splice would get angry and attack him, until it finally registered that this wasn't some random splice, it was Shadow. His friend. He calmed down a little, but he was still a little wary of Shadow. Some splices hated being touched by other splices, and he had no idea how she felt about it.

Shadow gave and surprised squeaking sound and stood before saying,"Watch where you roll,Zane. I was beginning to doze off and thought you were a scientist.",she said as she helped him up.

" Hehe...Sorry. " Zane mumbled. He stood there awkwardly for a few moments, trying to calm down. He didn't usually awake with such a start and he didn't like the panicked feeling it gave him. Eventually he sat down, trying to act like he didn't just freeze with panic because he touched another splice while he was sleeping. " So..about those plans of escape, " he said in an attempt to break the awkward atmosphere.
Lekke was almost asleep when something interesting finally happened. A scientist entered the room holding what appeared to be a new born pokemon. She assumed it was a splice seeing as it's body looked like a rather confused mesh that wasn't usually seen in normal pokemon. The scientist holding the young splice talked to her owner about a lot of things she didn't understand. From what she could tell if he did something good then something good would happen to him. Or at least she assumed a promotion was something good. She had never heard the word before, but it made her trainer smile so it couldn't be bad.
Toda relaxed in the arms or whomever had picked him up. He was quite certain that this was his mother and there was nothing to be concerned about. He rested for a few short moments, opening his eyes when his mom stopped and started talking to someone. In front of him was a blue creature. No, it was green. No wait..it was both! That was interesting. Everything else here was white or grey. Instinctively his mouth opened and he chirped at the stranger. Perhaps this was a brother or a sister.

Shadow shrugged and replied,"It appears to me yours are much better. We might be stuck here awhile longer." Her tail rested in her lap and she played with it as she talked and thought and then added,"I wonder what we would look like after evolving. Would we look horribly mutated or slightly normal?" She didn't really mean to say that allowed, but she did want to know.
(I just realized. Shadow always playing with her tail is like me with a chain or piece of string!)

((I don't give my characters many habits like that. Maybe I should start... Also, all of the ooc at the bottom of this post is just explaining how the evolution will work. If you want the evolution stuff to be more of a surprise then you can just ignore it.))
Zane didn't like to sound cocky, but he had to admit that his plans, while not very detailed at the moment, did seem to work a little better than Shadow's. But while her planning skill might not be the best, she was better than he was about thinking of the things that never occurred to him; such as evolution. He knew how a normal evolution went down. The pokemon glowed and got bigger and stronger and they generally looked scarier and more complicated. He had never seen a splice evolve. No one had made it to that point yet. " I kind of wonder if we will evolve at all. I mean, no one has done it yet so there's not really any proof that it happens to splices. " Zane hoped that if he did evolve he wouldn't end up looking hideous. His looks were kind of important to him.
Lekke leaned forward and sniffed the young splice and jumped back, startled by the chirp it made. She had never heard a splice chirp before. She had also never seen a splice so young. Was this how a splice looked when they had just been created? It looked so small and weak... She could vaguely remember her first days, and she was pretty sure she didn't seem so pathetic, even though she never got to see herself until a few days after she was born. She looked at her trainer, who was currently smiling at her. " It's good that you're getting along with him. After all, he is going to be your new partner. " he said.
Toda wriggled in his mom's arms, trying to get free so he could look at his new brother. Or sister. He wasn't sure yet. His mom gently lowered him to the table as he stretched his feet out to grab the ground when he got close enough. However, despite all of his preparation he still wasn't quite ready to support his own wait and only stood for a couple of wobbly seconds before falling into a sitting position.
((I've already decided that the splices can evolve and I've finished all of the sprites for my characters. I'm currently working on yours. For an idea of how it works I'll use Toda since he's the simplest. At level 23 a Shroomish evolves into a Breloom. Skarmory has no evolved form. His wings, face, tail, and feet won't change because they are made of Skarmory DNA. His body and the top of his head will change because they have Shroomish DNA. For Shadow her Charmander parts will evolve at level 16 and her Snivy parts will evolve at level 17.))
