" Well...what do we do now? I'm pretty sure if we don't eat we'll die, but I haven't seen anything that looks like food around here. " Zane groaned and rolled over onto his back, keeping his feet from touching anything. It was obvious in the dimming evening light that his paws were bleeding somewhat. He wasn't any better off out here than a house pet would be, and he had spent his entire life being trained to come out here!

Shadow sighed and replied,"I don't know,but we might have to start trying different things so we don't find out if we will starve to death or not." She then began to look around,but nothing reminded her of anything they could eat. Shadow's tired trainer walked after Zane's and mumbled,"We will never find these little pests,we might as well give up our chase."

Zane was quiet for a moment before he rolled back onto his paws with a heavy sigh. " I guess we'll have to start looking for something. So far we haven't really been looking around too much. There could be plenty of food around here and we just haven't seen it. " and thus with heavy paws and tired eyes, Zane headed for the underbrush, lowering his flames to prevent any accidents. As he stuck his face into a bush to sniff for food, something darted out, attempting to run from him. In a moment of instinct Zane swung around and chomped down on a Rattata, which squealed and squeaked in his jaws before he dropped it in surprise. The poor pokemon was too injured to run and simply laid there, staring up at Zane with the terror that comes to a pokemon who is expecting death.
Liam glanced at the other scientist and nodded at his remark. " I was thinking of a rather big giving up. One involving the Team as well as this stupid chase. " he sneered. As he was about to say something else, pained squeaks caught his attention. It didn't sound like his splice, but it was the first thing that had caught his attention since he was forced to trudge through this filthy place. " Did you hear that? " he asked the other person, his voice now lowered to a whisper.

Shadow looked from Zane to the injured Rattata and back to Zane. There was a thought in the back of her mind that said that this may be a source of food,but she couldn't tell Zane that.
Mark turned to the noise,ignoring what Liam had said and than he heard the question and nodded. "Maybe we just found Zarisa and Zane."
(I named my person and then remembered that the scientist named Shadow Zarisa.)(Sorry my posts are so short.)

((It's okay. I'm sorry I'm taking so long to post. I end up writing so much for school that I'm burned out by the time I get home. @_@))
Zane simply stared at the wild pokemon, uncertain of what he should do. With a bite like that it didn't look like it was going to shake off it's injuries and leave, and it lacked a trainer to heal it. Should he just kill it and save the pokemon the trouble of dying slowly? His mind was drawn back to the Scyther. He remembered it hissing something about prey, and it did look rather hungry when it was trying to kill them. Did pokemon eat each other in the wild? He looked up at Shadow, and he could tell the sight of the injured Rattata was making her hungry, so he determined that in the wild, your food wasn't mush. It was other pokemon. His teeth crunched down on the Rattata's neck.
" I really doubt it...but it's worth a shot. If we actually do find them than even though we'll still get kicked out of the team, at least we won't have to worry about assassins, " Liam whispered, his voice barely audible by the last half of his last sentence. As silently as a human could, he moved towards the sound, and as he peered around a tree, he saw none other than the two rebellious splices themselves, and what looked to be their first meal in the wild. His breath caught in his throat, almost panicking for a moment. How in the world would they catch these two?

Shadow watched him caredfully and realized that he was having the same thoughts as her about eating the wild pokemon and when he killed it she carefully watched to make sure. Ignoring a small sound she stared at the dead Rattata,waiting to find out if he actually was planning on eating it before she even dared to take a bit like her mind was telling her to.

Zane pulled his head away from the now dead Rattata. He felt uneasy bout this, but he couldn't deny that the taste of blood was making him hungrier than he could ever remember it making him. In all his battles before he had never really felt like this, but things were different when you were guaranteed a food bowl every day. " I-I'm going to eat it, " he told Shadow, watching her carefully and hoping she wouldn't be too disturbed by what he said. He was disturbing himself a little, but he was too hungry to really focus on morality.
Liam stayed still and silent where he was. Then best thing he could think to do was wait for now. He would wait until they were eating and sneak up and grab them while they were distracted. It wasn't a perfect plan and he would likely get hurt by the splices in the process, but it was worth a shot. |

((Sorry for not posting. Had an incredibly stressful week.))
Zane had a feeling that Shadow was too distracted by her thoughts to focus, but a nod was a nod, so he decided she must be okay with his idea. With more that a little bit of apprehension, Zane bit into the Rattata, his sharp teeth cutting cleanly through its fur and allowing him to pull back a small chunk of its meat. He chewed it cautiously, uncertain of how he was meant to eat something that used to live. It didn't take long for him to figure out that the fur wasn't what he wanted, and he chewed off the small amount of meat and his bite before spitting out the fur. He supposed he would need to find a way around that. He looked at Shadow and nodded his head towards the food, inviting her to try it. |

Shadow snapped back into reality and shook her head to clear it,eyes darting to look at Zane. "Huh?",her confused voice asked before she realized it was her turn to try the meat. She looked at the hole he made in the Rattata's skin and decided to take a bite from there. Digging in her nose she took a chunk out of it and then pulled back. Then she began to chew slowly,enjoying the taste before swallowing and looking at Zane.

((Okay. Been having some issues recently, primarily with school. Going to try to keep getting on and posting at least once every week, but I can't promise anything. Sorry.))
Zane felt his stomach urging him to eat more, and so with one last hesitant glance at Shadow, he started to really dig into the Rattata. The hole he had made with his first bite was widened as he ate more and had to find a way around the bones of the poor pokemon. At this point he couldn't bring himself to feel guilty. It felt so right that he was certain this this was a normal thing for a wild pokemon to do. He could hardly believe he had been able to stand eating pre-killed food all his life. Not that the food he used to eat looked like it had ever been alive. |

Shadow began to eat away at the Rattata until her stomach was soon full of the delicious meat. Once full she stepped back and began to glow,smirking as she realized she was evolving again. Her green eyes changed brownish-red,she grew taller than Zane and her body proportions even out a bit so that her claws weren't so large compared to the rest of her. Once she quit glowing and changing she looked down at Zane and smirked. "Now who's taller?",she taunted the hungry Zane.

Zane pulled away from his food as Shadow glowed brightly, undergoing several minor changes, with the main one being her height. As the glow died down, Zane glared playfully at the splice, who now had a total of five inches on him. " Yeah yeah. You just wait, I'm going to evolve again and then I'll be even taller! " he stated, tilted his wet, red muzzle into the air. Not that he actually knew that he would evolve again. He had no idea how evolution worked. He just hoped it would make him taller when(and if) it happened.
Liam was brought back out of his thoughts by a bright glowing. He turned his attention back to the escaped splice, heart sinking as one of them glowed and got bigger. He noticed that they had evolved, but he didn't think they would keep doing so! honestly, he thought splices were incapable of evolution, not so capable of it that they evolved frequently! He realized that it was now or never with these two. If he didn't try to get them now, they could evolve again, and he didn't want to fight anything harder than he had to. Jumping out from behind the trees that hid him, Liam charged at the two splices, leaping at his own splice, Zane, and hoping that Mark would catch on quick enough to follow his lead. He wasn't entirely sure the other had been paying much attention to what was going on.

Shadow smiled and shrugged before hearing a small rustling in the bushes. Out burst Liam,Zane's trainer,and she stopped dead,staring at him. 'How did he find us?',she thought and soon after saw Mark,her own trainer,burst from the bushes too. Mark had slightly been paying attention and when Liam went after his splice he went after his own,not bother to think this through.

Zane turned to run, but couldn't move quick enough as his trainer was already in the air when he saw him. Zane let out a strangled squeal as the (ex)Rocket scientist practically flattened him. He struggled for a brief moment before his trainer wrapped his hands around him and restrained him, but this didn't stop Zane from trying his hardest to wiggle free. He had tasted freedom! He had tasted meat! He was in the world and he wasn't willing to go back to the days of living in a box. His trainer chuckled, making Zane growl in discontent. He flared up his flames, making his trainer curse and tilt his head away, but it did little else. " Shadow, Help! " Zane cried, realizing he couldn't get himself out of this.

Shadow growled and began to move out of the way as her trainer fell on her tail. She narrowed her eyes and clawed at his face,causing him to curl into a ball and release her tail. 'Weaknesses...',she thought as she ran over to Zane. In a flash she had her teeth digging into Liam's arm,not bothering to watch Mark as he flailed about on the ground. Now that she thought of it,she might have clawed his eyes.

Liam cried out as the other splice avoided its trainer and promptly went for his arm. The splice's teeth weren't long enough to cause any major damage to him, but he still ended up letting go of Zane in surprise. The smaller splice ungracefully fell to the ground and scrambled away before he could be recaptured. Liam didn't even notice as he tried to get the splice to let go of his arm by grabbing its mouth with his free hand. He wanted to yell at Mark for being an idiot, but most of what he yelled just ended up being variations of " Dammit Mark get your stupid splice off of me! "

Shadow shook her head and her grip tightened as his hand touched her mouth. Soon as she saw her trainer getting up out of the corner of her eye she let go and scampered after Zane.
Mark was holding his left side of his face as he came to Liam's aid,but his splice was gone before he could manage to get over there and help. He cursed as he pulled his hand away from his face and saw the amount of blood. "I knew our splices would be trouble some day. I didn't think they would do so much damage,though.",he told Liam as he returned his bloody hand back to his face.

Liam screamed his anger out as he swung around and slammed his foot into a bush, kicking it back only to have it swing back at him and dig its thorns into his pants and leg. He let out a startled cry, not having realized that the bush he kicked was thorny and stumbled back a few steps. He felt defeat sinking down on him before he realized that he had an emotional scape-goat. Sure he would have o leave the country to escape Giovanni's wrath, but there was a perfectly good idiot standing next of him that he could blame for the loss of the splices. If nothing else it would make him feel better. " Shut up! ", he spat at his former coworker, " This is your fault! How hard can it possibly be to grab one little pokemon?! "
Zane ran and ran and ran, much like he had done after he initially escaped. He followed the river so he wouldn't get lost, skimming the edges of the bushes. He didn't hear anyone following him besides Shadow, but he didn't want to take any risks, so he was going run until he was certain that he wouldn't being seeing those two for a long time. Hopefully never again.

Mark flinched as he was yelled and and replied quietly,"Little pokemon? They've both grown in size and size doesn't matter when it comes to them fighting." He then looked in the direction the two splices ran and cursed under his breath.
Shadow ran after Zane,practically touching the river's edge with one foot. She was terrified to even look back as she ran from the trainers that used to be theirs and pushed herself to run a bit faster,to at least close the distance between her and Zane.
