Scarlet gasped and ran into the forest, the first of the four to duck into the tree cover.

"Hold it!" mewed Temeraire cooly, stepping out of the shadows. "Those dragons are Lava and Blitz." he snarled pointedly, using his intimidation power with high hopes. "Yes gryphons, they killed your mother." he said. "But they would never hurt you, and because they hunt, it does not make them villains. Think about it, I hunt mice, but if I were to rescue the little baby mice from a father who eats it's male young, they would thank me in the long run would they not? Lava and Blitz were indeed hunting gryphons, they killed your mother, and took you from their father, because he would not have been maternal enough to care for you." Though he had just hatched, he had a mental link with Kevi already, who filled him in when he had found the gryphons. "Kevi, will not harm you, neither will her dragons, and neither will I"

Finch and Iceblink looked upon the cat with confusion,  but they sort of understood his point.

Temeraire hissed angrily. "And could Kevi have stopped them? I kill mice for sport too! Nothing will stop me from trying to catch the biggest rat in the barn to keep as a trophy, and I wouldn't hesitate at taking it's young to raise as big as their mother was!"

Kevi heard Temeraire and Taylor in the distance, and dashed in that direction at top speed, telling Lava and Blitz to return to their stables.

"And you are only teaching these gryphons to live in fear!" he added in almost a yell. "You are teaching them to hide from a possible issue rather than face it like a hero!" he hissed.

Iceblink let out a loud screech. "Stop fighting!" he demanded, staring coldly at the cat and Taylor. He pressed to Skye and Finch on either side of him, and flicked his ears for Scarlet to come out of hiding. "We are not mice." he snapped at the cat. "And we can dictate our own arguements thank you very much."

"Prince said that my momma said that..." Finch replied, only to be hushed gently by Finch.

"We are not dumb animals to be convinced to run and hide." Iceblink snapped. "Niether you" he jabbed a talon in Temeraire's direction. "Nor anyone else" he said, glaring at Taylor and Shadow "Can decide our future."

"Nice speech Iceblink" Temeraire said cooly, his tail flicking. "You are absolutely right." 

((You do know their father isn't dead right?))

Iceblink raised an eyebrow. "And you care because...?" he said cooly.

Finch sat down next to Iceblink. "Honestly, I don't care at all, I never met my mother anyways, and our father was obviously willing to give us up."

Scarlet licked her beak. "And if she was killed by dragons after we had hatched, we would be dead anyways. She wouldn't have been able to protect us the way Kevi, Lava, Blitz, Prince, Princess, Kevi Silence, and even Temeraire do now."

"And here you are, trying to send us to the wild where we would be killed and eaten if a wild dragon attacked our father." Iceblink said, clearly re-thinking his original position. 

Temeraire rolled his eyes. "Take no heed to her words. She is too shallow to see your view." He sat down and groomed his paws. "So, grpyhons, do you still wish to embark on your journey into the forest? Or return to Kevi, who will take care of you until she is too old to care for herself?"

Finch shrugged. "I dunno what everyone has against Kevi." she said. "I'll stay, even if to others go."

"I would be a useless mess in the wild" Scarlet admitted, "Gryphons simply need wings. I will stay too."

Iceblink growled. "I will stay, but only because they are" he said as an excuse. He wouldn't mind being pampered until he was old. 

((*frowns* Why?????))

Kevi skidded to a stop near the gryphons with a sigh of relief. "Is everyone alright?" she asked worriedly. She smiled at Temeraire. "You must be the egg I made." she whispered. "Exactly how I imagined you to be."

Finch fluttered in a circle. "Where's Silence and Prince and Princess?" she asked eagerly. 

"Over here!" A voice called, and Princess ran over to all of them, with Prince and Silence close behind, "What did I..." She paused, "I mean we miss?"

"I found Dot, Dot got in trouble. Jay and Skye found me! We all got in trouble. Temeraire found us, Taylor and Fang and him jabbered back and forth, and now we found you." Finch said all in once breath.

"And now we're all in trouble" finished Scarlet dissapointedly.

"Nonsense!"Kevi said, patting the gryphons on the head. "I made you all a playpen, with Lava and Blitz's help." She said. "It's safe so you can learn to fly." she added. "And Temeraire and Prince can keep watch, and me, Princess and Silence will visit you a lot." 

"That's great!" squealed Finch.

"What about me?" Scarlet asked shyly.

"You didn't think I forgot you did I?" Kevi said. "No, you will have plenty of space to run, and there's even and obstacle course so you can jump too if you want."

Scarlet purred happily, ears twitching excitedly.
