Kevi dragged her suitcase to the academy door, and knocked the big knocker three times. She was nervous about coming here. She never liked sharing anything, especially not a room. With a stranger.

"Thank you." Kevi said with a smile, pulling her suitcase inside. "When can I make my first creature?" she asked eagerly.

Kevi found her room after about fifteen minutes. She opened the door and looked around. She wondered who her rommmate was. She put her suitcase on her bed and unpacked some of her clay animals and put them on her nightstand, some hanging from the lamp or attacking the alarm clock. She put one in her pocket and raced to cl*censored*.

"Oh my! A new student!" Mrs. Vawn said when she saw Kevi. "I'm Mrs. Vawn! And these are my creatures, Moca and Java, she pointed to desk where two ferrets, one bright white and the other brown and grey with a marking that looked like a raccoon mask waved. "And this is the clas.s!" She pointed at everyone. |

"I'm Kevi. don't have a creature, but I have lots of ideas, and I brought one with me today." Kevi said, taking a little cat made of clay of all sorts of colors out of her pocket and holding it out. "I took cl*censored*es for this sort of stuff at school, like sculpting." she said

Kevi raised her eyebrows and leaned on her hand with her elbow resting on the desk. "You're kidding, right?" she mumbled.

"So anyway.." Mrs. Vawn said, regaining focus, "You must focus only on the creature, close your eyes and hold out your hands, almost see what it looks like in your minds eye, what it feels like, smells like, tasts like... er.. not the last part. And imagine what its powers will be." She paused, "And an egg should appear in your hands, even if it is a mammal, which I think is weird." Far away, in the farthest desk from anyone, sat a girl. No one really knew her name, so they just called her silence, she didn't ever protest it at all, or at least they didn't think she did. She did what Mrs. Vawn told her to. Her creature would be loud so it would be able to be her voice, but it would also be cuddly so she could cuddle with it. She finaly decided on what it would look like and he felt a velvety thing in her hands. It was an egg! |

Kevi ignored her clay sculpture. She thought of something more powerful, something strong that could protect her when no one else could, something fierce. A male of course, no one would call him girlie. Something that could fight forest animals and win. Why, it couldn't be anything but a dragon. When she imagined what it smelled like, she thought of the smell of burning charcoal. When she thought of the sound it would make, she imagine a lion's roar, but bigger. And when she opend her eyes, she had a dark egg that looked like a rock, with dark red markings that looked like cracks to someone far away. It was hot, so Kevi laid it on her desk. She gazed at her work and smiled.

"Good job everyone!" Mrs. Vawn said. "You all seem to have your eggs! Now what you do now, is that every room has an incubater, you can put your egg in that. Now clas.s is almost-" The bell rang, "Well I mean it is over. When your egg hatches come see me."

"That's it?" Kevi said. "That's easy! I cold have done that all along!" she said. She stuffed the egg in her bag and discarded the cat sculpture in the garbage on the way out, heading for her dorm. She wondered if she could make it hatch the same way she made it in the first place. She decided she'd try when no one was watching. She got back to her dorm and put the egg in the incubator. But she doubted it was needed because of how warm it already was.
