Sapphire breathed a small sigh of relief as Triss put the arrow away. She leapt lightly from the bough she had been so poorly trying to hide on. As she landed on the ground a little ways from the elf, she bowed slightly in a gesture of respect and said "You can call me Sapphire."

Triss nodded a quick and stiff nod as she was given a name for this particular Kitsune. She swung her bow back cross her back with its quiver and stood still as a statue watching the other unblinking. The summer air wafted through the forests sending swirls of grasses seeds and the occasional tiny fairy flitting about them. Triss really paid them no mind, she had become relatively accustomed to the outside world. She thought of many of her clansmen still hiding in the dark depths of the earth..

Allia stirred awake just as the moon was rising in the night sky. It was unsafe for her kind to be out during the day, it had been such since the day the good king fell. She had only been a child then.
She sighed, crawling from the well-concealed pit she now lived in. It was very clever, actually. She'd found a mass of bushes and hollowed out the ground in the center of them. Allia had called that spot home for almost a month now. It was nearing time to relocate, no magical being could stay in the same place for long. If they did, they would soon be discovered and killed, or worse, captured.
Allia gathered her staff and bag, and set out to gather food and herbs. This area was plentiful in both, for which she was immensely grateful.
Much to her surprise, instead of the plants she sought, Allia stumbled across two beings amongst the trees. A kitsune, and a humanoid that seemed to be an elf, but was obscured by the branches of the tree in which it was perched. Allia immediately went into a defensive stance, brandishing her staff with trembling hands. She knew that the best she could do was to defend herself and run, but that was better than some of her kind, who hardly learned magic at all thanks to their new king.
"Who are you, and who do you side with?" She tried desperately to keep her voce from wavering. |

Triss deftly lifted her
bow and an arrow from her over her shoulder,she swept them up with calm
precision. She turned her head to the side, her gaze locked traveling down the
length of her arm and her weapon. She sighted a female human standing not too
far from where she and Sapphire were. Truth be told the girl was a bit dirty,
Triss could see fragments of dirt and dust still clinging to her attire. She took
note of the staff the female held as she
heard her voice ring across the trees, and smelt the aura of magic around her.
Who am I? Triss ground
her teeth. What side do I take? She looked sideways at Sapphire an ex
pression
of displeasure crossed her face. "How fast can you run dog?" she asked Sapphire before she spoke to the witch across the trees. "I am Triss of the house Arkenghym, my loyalties lay with the magic people of the kingdom " she pulled the string of her bow even more taught. "Of which house do you hail witch? and tell it true." |

The night was quiet and soft, as shadows moved silently in the moonlight, Freedom carefully stalked them then found three standing beneath the trees. She jumped up the tree she was behind and silently watched them as they spoke, perking and angling her ears to hear what they had to say.
"A Kitsune a Drow and a Witch...interesting bunch, haven't seen many creatures of the old kingdom in a while..." She whispered as she perched herself just right, getting out her wrist blades just incase they weren't what she thought.

Sapphire took slight offence to being called a dog, but brushed it off. "I'm pretty swift." she answered, but she was unsure why Triss had asked. She pricked her ears as she heard a whisper somewhere behind her. She growled softly to Triss "We have another guest." she angled her ears in the direction she had heard the sound.

At Triss' answer, Allia lowered her staff and nodded. "I am Allia Meriwether. My mother was of the Northern witches, but we lived in solitude after the king's fall. She died a year ago. I am alone, and I am aligned with any who would help my kind."
She seemed visibly calmer now that she knew the girl in the tree was no foe. The kitsune, even if it were against them, would be no match for two other magical beings, so she thought.

Triss was not expecting another defender for the good of the realm to chance upon them. She was flabberghasted if she could be by the mere coincidence of this meeting, or perhaps it was more than that. Triss would have to consult later on the chances of divine workings here, there was simply no time to meddle with such a trifle right now. She sensed the disdain Sapphire held for being called a dog, Drow were not know for their mannerisms she shrugged it off as usual. This witch was alone, not a surprise, many and more traveled alone in these times. She trained her attention to what Sapphire was going on about, another guest,surely. She nodded one,and turned on her heal..so many times today already she had trained her bow on someone. She lost concern for the presence of the witch, deeming her a non threat at this time.
"Your seen." she called over to the other, catching a few glints of her form in the trees. Mostly it was the silver of some blade that caught Triss' eyesight at first before she focused on the wielder.

Freedom grinned then jumped out of the high branch of the tree, landing gently in a crouch making no noise and pulling out her duel blades. "Its been a long time Triss, the Guardians said I would be meeting an old acquaintance" She swished her tail then stood strait, looking around the three infront of her standing in the moonlight.

"Freedom, I should have known, your parents so aptly named you" she tilted her head in an attempt of a bow to the Ookami. She shoved her bow and arrow back along her back, gazing at the others. "It seems those who would are becoming brave to oppose Calleb" she hadnt been in the presence of more than one magical creature in at least 40 years. In an answer to the witch's question Triss grabbed the satchel from around her shoulder and tossed it on the ground. A few glowing purple worms, inched their way in a futile attempt to escape. " No one enjoys the bite of my arrows" they were clearly poison slugs that many Drow used on their weapons to kill their targets, a painful death to say the least.

Freedom dipped her head in respect to Triss then slid her blades back into there sheath, "Sapphire the Kitsune and Allia the Witch, I was told by an old Chimera I would find you two as well, do any of you know why were here?" she asked the three but still looking at Triss, she was the eldest and must know a thing or two about whats going on.

Freedom seemed well informed,more than Triss. There was always something going on in the world of man, she couldnt be expected to keep up with it all. "Oh dont look at me like that, I havnt had time to waste on such trifles." she looked blankly at the Ookami. "It would seem something is going on here, this just doesnt happen." She looked through Freedom, like she wasnt even seeing her at the moment. She bent in a quick motion and scooped up her bag of poison grubs.Time was nothing for Triss, she would live for ages, and ages and day was a mere bl
ink of an eye to her. "Honestly Free you know most of the elders are no longer speaking to me,they never seem to agree when it is the time to usurp Calleb." This was an odd lot of warriors if Triss was to be honest to herself. She was certainly not aware of the skills of the witch, or the Kitsune..she wondered why they were sent here. No one ever came to this part of the forest anymore, it surely wasnt it proper place to gather.

Sapphire let out a slight growl as she saw the slugs and drew back her lip slightly saying "I don't envy your targets." she turned her attention towards Allia, and responded "I just happened to be passing by." Tired of being shorter than everyone else, she shifted into her human form, her ears and tails were still visible, but at the moment she didn't care. She leaned up against a tree so that she could be more comfortable.

Freedom stretched then looked over to the other two, "Well obviously we've all been called here for a reason" she looked from one creature to the other then looked back at Triss. "The elders are no longer here except for old Talon the Gryphon, they've all been captured by Calleb's dark sorceress." she said perking her ears again as she heard the crisp noise of Sapphire's body make contact with the tree as she leaned against it.

Triss wasnt pleased to hear the news about the majority of the elders, so just old Talon left. He was senile at best, not the one whom she hoped they could look to for guidance. Triss avoided him at most time, he was always harping on about the days of the first clan wars. His tales always changed though, he become more heroic in each telling, Triss had trouble knowing which parts were true anymore. She huffed rather loudly her ice blue eyes narrowed, "This is some cruel joke, Talon? Goddess help us."

Freedom shook her head looking at Triss "He is a wise old owl, he is one of the oldest elders and knows many things, the sorceress probably just didn't see that" she said now looking around, and listening to the things happening around them.

"That old coot? Surely you can not be serious." Triss narrowed her eyes. "Does he even know who sits on the throne? When did he last lend a useful hand to anyone?" Triss looked around them the air was begining to grow thick and permiated with magic, to her heightened senses it was stiffling. Her silver white tresses fluttered with the breeze, the wind had shifted to the south now into the mountains and the peaks that flying creatures once inhabited. "Fine." she huffed shortly, "come on then." she didnt really give the others time to protest

Triss turned on her heel to look at the Kitsune. "Oh of course, you are free to stay here..say where is it you have to be going? Do you have no magical sensabilites? Do you not feel that presence?" She motioned her black hands about the air, the heat the near suffocation of the magic she could detect wafting from up in the mountains. She swirled her hand in a pinkish orange fog that could be seen now that she disturbed it, unkown particles shimmered as she swished it around. Talon really was a show off,not to mention how dangerous his little magic show was. He was likely scrying them all at this point, having himself a nice laugh. She did pointedly at Sapphire, "Dont you want to live Kitsune? Dont you want to be Free?" It was obvious to her now they would have to go see the old Gryphon Talon whom she didnt personally like. She wondered how the Kitsune played into the ragamuffin guard they made, she looked at the amulets that swung around the females neck.

Allia listened intently, looking from one creature to the next. "I've been living in this forest for a few weeks now.. Maybe your Gryphon friend knew of this, and so scheduled your meeting near to my temporary home? I personally would gladly accompany you on whatever journey you wish to embark on.. I've been far too lonely since my mother died..." She forced a smile, looking to Triss. |
