Aki growled angrily as she ate the last scraps she could get and left to find a rabbit this time. A rabbit was small and could easily satisfy her hunger. As she searched for some, she heard an elk call for its calf and she headed that way, intrigued by the sound. She crawled beneath some light bushes and slowly poked her head into the clearing where she found a mother elk and her calf. Aki knew the mother would be protective of her calf, so she proceeded to make a plan.

Aki sneaked around the mother, and when she caught sight of her looking the other way, she jumped in, aiming for the calf's throat. She bit down hard and surely, feeling the warm blood trickle down her lips. The mother turned, and angrily started to wail, striking at Aki, and trying to get the wolf off her calf. Aki withstood the heavy blows, bringing down the calf and making the mother miss this strike and hit a rock, making her unsure for a moment. Aki quickly took advantage of this time to run off with the heavy calf, running off and farther away to some abandoned fox den. Aki took a moment before dropping the calf and digging the den out a bit further to her liking. After that, she tugged the calf in her den, starting to eat unnoticed beneath the cool earth and below three fallen trunks which made an intersection above what was Aki's den now. Vines and leaves covered the entrance more, so there would be less of a chance of intruders.

Spirit was growing tired. She stretched out her hind legs and started walking back towards her den. The moonlit night was drawing her into a sleepy state. Little did she know that she crossing over Syra's territory. |
