"Not exactly. The war has already ravaged this town, but we still keep guard just in case. There are still people to protect here, but with guards still wandering around, it's no wonder why my most people here stay clear from us. It's like a militial dictatorship--" Ren paused midway. With the town quiet, the silence was still until it was broken by the shuffling of steps. It sounded hurried. Renali whipped her head around, finally seeing a figure in the middle of an intersecting street. Her instincts took over. Signaling for silence, she casted a basic cloaking spell between the figure and her. The situation didn't seem exactly dangerous yet, but some protection didn't hurt. "Hullo! Who goes there? Speak your name." Just as her magic swirled around her, she picked up another...aura. A different kind of presence, definitely inhuman. But it seemed a bit farther from town still, although it was fresh.

Hyena laughed softly. "Another dragon, another human," he observed. He stepped around Ren, observing this new human. He'd worry about the dragon later. "Another female. Hyena can smell her." He boldly walked toward the figure, looking curious rather than aggressive. "Human cub, are you of this place? You seem lost. Perhaps Hyena can help," he called. He blinked, suddenly realizing his pouch was still back near the shed. A few simple words and it was back around his waist, resized to fit his human form.

Ix jumped at the sound of voices. "Uh, um hello there" she said softly to the man watching curiously as a pouch appeared around his waist. "Magic?" she questioned quietly but then looked back up to meet his eyes. "I'm not from here no but I'm not lost, well I am but I'm not, I believe that you're not lost till you panic and I'm not panicking so... Let me stop rambling, help would be nice" she smiled. "You see I'm rather poor right now but I need a place to stay for the night. Do you know anywhere I could stay for cheap?" she smiled fiddling with the string on her package, careful not to pull it loose lest her meal spill onto the ground. She remember the other voice and its request for her name "my name is Ix Carmel by the way" she said pushing hair away from her eyes.

"Hyena is Hyena, and hidden voice is Renali," Hyena said with a smile. "She knows where to find a place, Hyena expects it is not hard considering this town is in ruins." He shrugged, dark eyes memorizing her every detail. "And yes, Hyena used magic to conjur his belt. He knows you must know magic to not freak out like most humans." He paused a few paces away from her, still looking curious. "Where are you from?"

"Nice to meet you Hyena... Renali" she glanced to where she as.sumed Renali was then looked back to Hyena. "I'm from Dippren... not very proud of it though" she muttered the last part. "I do know magic, summons and transformations mostly" she smiled. "Where are you from if you don't mind me asking." She pushed at her hair again, this time tucking her bangs back behind her ears. It was nice to have a conversation with someone, even if that someone spoke in third person, actually, she kind of liked Hyena's way of speaking, it was different. She was hoping that Renali was this friendly. Ix didn't get much time to socialize outside of her odd jobs so every conversation was appreciated and cherished.

"Hyena is not from a land around here," the dragon replied. "He is from across the seas, in truth. But his actual hatching place is forgotten because he never thinks about home." His mind raced, not registering the fact that humans were born, not hatched. If she was from Diprenn that meant not everyone was so approving of this war. In fact it proved how much people wanted the war to stop. "Do not mind the odd question, but how old are you both and how old does Hyena look? He has forgotten his age." He laughed softly, sheepishly.

"Hatching place?" Ix said softly. "I had a feeling you weren’t human... anyway I'm twenty one. Um you look fairly young, maybe about my age somewhere in your twenties" Ix said looking at him rather closely. "You must be rather old to have forgotten your age though... no offence meant in that" she said biting her lip nervously, she hoped she hadn't just offended him. She thought back to where he had said he was from "I'd like to go across the sea someday" she said mostly to herself.

Hyena rubbed the back of his head, blushing softly. He'd been asleep for so long, he'd have to re-learn human terms and how to control the human emotions... "Hyena takes no offence. He has to retrain himself in keeping his not being a human a secret. His eyes remain dark, though, he is surprised people do not notice." Oh well, nothing he wouldn't be able to fix sooner or later. "And not to ruin your dreams, but across the sea is not a nice place. Much less nice than here, anyway. It is a savage place not meant for humans."

Ix smiled, happy that she hadn't upset him and her smile didn't drop when he said that across the sea was not a good place to go. "Really?" she asked. "Well that's too bad, I'll just have to find another place for an adventure then" she said. "Would you mind me asking what you are? It's not very often I meet someone non human." She'd returned to pulling at the string on the package but pulled to hard and as the package opened half its contents, a small block of cheese and a chunk of ham fell out onto the ground. "Oh darn!" she yelped clutching tighter to what was left in her arms. "I seem to be having the best of luck these days" she said sarcastically looking down to the spilled food.

"Hyena is a dragon," Hyena replied, bending and picking up the fallen food. He examined them. A small, unspoken spell freed them of dirt and harmful germs. Smiling broadly he held them out to Ix, quite obviously feeling like so far he was doing a good job of both being human and remembering his manners. "Do not tell anyone, okay? Now only old people know Hyena is a dragon, but fortunately his reputation has not died. He still needs work, though."

Ix smiled happily taking the food from Hyena, tucking it back into its original packaging. She tied the string tight around it and sighed "I really should be more careful" she told herself. "Thanks so much, and don't worry, your secret is safe with me" she told him, "I've never met a dragon before, I wonder if other dragons are as nice as you... if not they should be" she said. "What do you do for work?" she asked.

"Unfortunately Hyena can't tell you that," he said, blinking. "That is his own secret, so if you do not know then he cannot tell you. Sorry." He pat the pouches on his belt, indicating he had no money whatsoever. "But Renali is going to Saiferr tomorrow, escorted by Hyena. Care to join? Work can be found there, which means more money." [Let's stop for the night so as to not leave Neiru and Uwibami behind. :3]

[ooc: Wow. xD Missed a bit.] Renali smiled at the ongoing conversation between Hyena and Ix. She determined that no threat came from this other lady. Now, she shifted her attention to the inhuman presence. If Hyena said it was a dragon...then I hope it won't harm this town. She exhaled deeply, keeping her magic close to her. She withdrew the cloak, but left enough magic to sense the dragon's movements. I should have learned tracking magic. Oh well. "Hullo, Ix. I am Renali Feront--Dippern citizen as well, but I've been living in Junth most of my life." She extended a hand and a smile. "I do have a place to stay, and I would be happy if you'd join us." She jerked her thumb to a small house just a ways from the main path. "More than enough room for everyone; it's been lonely lately."

"Anyway" she continued "Thank you so much, I really wasn't sure if I'd find a place to stay tonight" she said happily. She turned back to Hyena "I'd love to travel with you both if you really don't mind. I'd been thinking about going to Saiferr for work but I was a bit apprehensive about going alone" she laughed softly.

"Hyena only requests a few coins as payment," he informed Ix. "You can split the cost with Renali so that neither of you have to pay as much. Hyena will be transforming back for most of the journey because the animals are large and dangerous, not to be messed with." It was safe to say that the dragon was harboring a little nest of care for the two already, most likely because they were being nice to him. He'd probably wind up wanting to stay with one or the other, but he knew that work came first.

"Alright" she said happily secretly wondering to herself what Hyena looked like as a dragon. "Hm... I wonder if maybe I should summon Cerberus if there are going to be large animals around. I'll just have to wait and see." She shrugged her shoulders and pushed at her hair with a somewhat frustrated huff when it fell back over her eyes again. "I wish my hair would stay put" she said off handedly tucking it back behind her ear.
