Hyena kept quiet about the vampire's presence. He looked at Cypher and nodded. "Aye, you are welcome. Out of curiosity, why are you here? Hyena has not heard of beings like you coming to towns. But then, he has never met one, so he cannot judge." A brief moment of silence followed; he realized it wasn't raining anymore. He stood, glancing toward the window. "We are on our way to Saiferr, mister immortal elder, the human cubs and Hyena. You are welcome to join us."

Cypher gazed curiously at Hyena. "Dragon. I surely cannot answer you any better than I answered the vampiric. But It would be a pleasure to join you." He said calmly. But his gaze flickered to the man seated in the shadows. He caught the faintest glimmer of gold, eye level. "Excuse me. I need to have a talk with sanity and try not to lose it...." He growled. His mask slipped and irritation showed in his face. He swiftly moved towards the dark corner and sat, gazing at the shadows. Gold cat eyes stared back at him. "Surely you are not stalking, Agoroth..." He said, growling his words. The eyes glittered with amusement. "Sadly, no. I am stalking a rather curious crowd though..." Said a feral voice. it almost sounded like a hiss. Cypher sighed. "Then yes, you are stalking me." he said wearily. Agoroth smiled, revealing a sharp canine tooth. "Funny thing actually." He chuckled. 'What?" Cypher said. "What what?" Agoroth said, his own curiosity in his strange voice. Cypher growled. "Not this again." He growled. "Not what? Tell me, can you walk in thin air?" Agoroth asked. Cypher growled lower. Agoroth chuckled. "Dear friend, do not growl at me. You might find that you have another thing growling back at you." Agoroth chuckled. Then he leaned foreward, revealing a muzzle similar to a cat's. But it had saber fangs gleaming wickedly as they jutted out. Agoroth retreated back into the shadows. "I shall be watching, friend. But I shall not be seen." He said. Slowly, Agoroth disappeared. The shadows became slightly brighter. "As always...." Cypher grumbled, walking back to the others.

Hyena was patient, but had heard the conversation. He didn't really understand it, nor would he pry. "He will warn you, though, we are to travel by horse. If you need one, you can use Hyena's, and he'll simply join one of the human cubs'. He does not think Renali can manage to get yet another horse, he gets the feeling she did not have an easy time obtaining them. Speaking of, you two, please get ready to leave. The sun is risen and we cannot delay much longer. Magical beasts are searching for someone and taking the road over, so it is crucial we move as quickly and soon as we can."

Renali just nodded, going first to the bartender to pay for the rooms and for the service, then quickly going outside to the stables to ready the horses. Each horse whinnied as the girl approached them and saddled them along with packs. On horseback, it was less than a few hours ride to Saiferr, for which she was grateful for. Crooning to them, she led the horses into the front of the inn, trying to calm them since regular animals were not used to non-humans riding on them. "Shall we?" she called softly to the others. Attracting attention to a group of travelers would not have been a wise action.

Hyena walked outside, putting his hand on the stallion's nose. "Why do you put saddles and bridles on them?" he asked quietly. The stallioned flung his head, but Hyena didn't move. The animal calmed down a little, let out a heavy sigh and nuzzled the dragon. He smiled sympathetically, running his fingers through the horse's forelock. "Poor boy," he murmured. "He is worked hard." The horse bobbed its head a bit, tail flicking. "Poor boy," he repeated.

Ren gave a forlorn smile. "I'm afraid that without the saddle and bridle, it'll be harder for us to travel and to go to certain directions, especially if the horse is frightened. It would be dangerous for both horse and rider. And now that these are tamed horses...they need us. It'll take gradual time for them to break of it." The girl patted the black mare, offering it an apple from a sack. The horse gently munched at it and butted her empty hand with affection. "Unfortunately, they have been worked hard, which means that I don't plan on giving them back to soldiers." Her look was of steel. "We must handle the reins with care; their mouth is hard. Once we reach Saiferr, I will attend to that." The girl patted the mare. She liked being near horses; both rider and horse must work together to accomplish great feats, but very few seem to understand that. Most were in the "companionship" just for the heroics.

A sad chuckle escaped Hyena's mouth. "He forgot. Humans do not connect with animals except through actions. If immortal elder opts to let Hyena have his own horse, he will be taking off the saddle and bridle. The stallion will listen to Hyena because he can connect. The best thing for humans is to get close to their mounts and use a simply halter with reins; bits are hard on the mouth and pinch the tongue. Girths are restricting on breathing, and saddles are heavy." His voice was soft, almost as if he were speaking only to the stallion in front of him. He knew this because of personal experience, back when he was just a young adult.

"What I would give to be able to connect; that would be so much nicer." Ren looked into the big mare's eyes. It twinkled with youth despite herself. "You seem to know a lot about horses," the girl admired. "My knowledge of horses only came from my brother when I was younger, but even then I didn't pay attention much. I only remember a few tidbits, but I try my best to learn. Don't want to admit, but I regret not having a larger-attention span before. I was more of a troublemaker." Grinning, she called to Ix and was about to call to the immortal when--lo and behold--she didn't know his name. She turned to Hyena, inquiring with a puzzled look.

"Hyena doesn't know either," the dragon said with a shrug. "And do not let his information fool you, he knows very little about horses. Before he learned the human language he was caught and used a mount. It is from personal experience that he speaks and so has sympathy toward mounts." He turned his head toward the inn, blinking. "Okay. Okay, we are ready to leave," he called, running a hand along the stallion's cheek. [Let's wait for Wolf]

(( Thanks guys )) Cypher stared at his horse. It stared back at him. Then very gently he removed the tack, put it back up and hopped up onto the horse. The horse tossed it's head and reared, neighing with pleasure. Cypher's lip twitched in a small smile. "His name is Dark Shadows. He promises to let me ride him swiftly if I do him one favor." Cypher said softly, stroking the tall black stallion's neck. Dark Shadows tossed his head and gazed at each and every one of them with a dark golden eye. "He say's he's the leader of this herd, and the leader of another. his family herd." Cypher whispered. Dark Shadows lifted his head, tall and proud and beautiful. Cypher made a small clicking noise to Dark Shadows and he breathed into the horse's nose, letting it take in his own scent. Dark Shadows neighed softly and lipped his shoulder. Then Dark Shadows did the same to Cypher. Cypher smiled and handed him a beautiful red apple. Dark Shadows nickered and gently ate the apple from Cypher's hand.

Ix walked out joining all of them. She stood back for a moment looking at the horses with a soft somewhat nervious smile. She liked animals, she really did but her track record with horses wasn't the best. She wasn't scared of them so much as weary. Head tilted she realized there were three horses and four people and figured someone would be riding together. "Uh, should I just ride with someone?" she asked. Really she'd prefer that.

"Ix, are you nervous?" Hyena asked, tilted his head to the side a bit. "If yes, then you can ride with Hyena. He has to ride with either you or Renali anyway." He walked over to the mare that would carry Ix. He placed a hand on her snout, murmuring softly in another language. The nervous mare calmed down a little and he smiled. "Good girl, Nacht," he sighed. "You will not be worked hard anymore when we reach Saiferr, Renali said she will help you." The mare nuzzled him, nickering softly. "Okay, Ix. We will ride together, Nacht is prepared to take two riders," he announced. He went and stood by the saddle, smiling. "Do you need help up or will you be fine?"

"Just a little" she said with a sheepish laugh. "I haven't had the best luck in the world with horses" she sighed recaling a rather unpleasant childhood memory. Slowly she aproached the mare and smiled at her still somewhat nervious. She turned to Hyena and smiled "help up would be nice yes" she told him.

Nodding, Hyena helped her into the saddle. "Do not worry, Hyena will not let Nacht do anything to harm you," he grunted, pulling himself into the saddle behind her. The mare whinnied softly and shifted underneath them; Hyena crooned softly to her and she calmed down. "Hold on to her mane," he instructed. "Hyena will be holding the reins, and if you tug on her hair it will not hurt her. This he knows." He put his arms around Ix, naturally thinking nothing of it as he took the reins. "Okay. Okay, confused herd, let us go." He smiled and gently kicked Nacht's sides, urging her into a fast walk. They'd pick up the pace once they were out of the city.

"Okay" Ix said feeling a slight, unwanted blush creep up into her cheeks when Hyena put his arms around her. She held onto the mare's mane closing her eyes and let out a startled squeek when they began to move holding slightly tighter, trying to forget her last, rather unplesant, experience with a horse because really, recalling a fall and broken arm was no fun.

Renali nudged her mare, dubbed Blossom, intro a trot, following Nacht. She gave a yawn and tried blinking her eyes to shake off the drowsiness. Although, it was quite difficult because the scenery around them was just so calm. They p*censored*ed rolling hills and arrived near a running river. A wooden arched bridge lay across it. She urged her mare on, calming her from the noise of the water--the very clip-clop of hooves created a rhythmic pattern that could lull people to sleep. Lazily, she pinched herself. "How long until Saiferr?" she asked as she stroked the Blossom's mane absentmindedly.

"Maybe an hour," Hyena replied. "Ix, Hyena is sorry for your nervousness but we should hurry," he told her. He kicked Nacht into a gallop, putting the reins into one hand and wrapping his free arm around her waist, to make her feel more secure. He hadn't caught the blush earlier and still didn't think anything of this. "Do not worry," he murmured in her ear, "Hyena will not let you fall or otherwise be hurt. Trust him."

"Alright" Ix muttered with a nod, feeling the blush spread. Her mind was far from the fall now and more on the want to get rid of the heat in her cheeks. Dispite her embarasment though she leaned back against Hyena, happy for the comfort of having him there, at least now she was sure she wouldn't fall. She kept her eyes down on her hands that were holding onto Nacht's soft mane and willed the blush away into a soft pink tint.
