Melanie stood up, wiped tears away with the back of her hand, and started to walk down the hallway. She needed to be alone for a while.

Melanie bit down on her lip to keep from bursting into tears. "O...Okay." She ran off then, knowing she was about to cry. She raced into an empty cla.ssroom, locked the door with a spell, sat down against the door, and cried. She needed to let this out. Damon was going to leave... she'd probably never see him again... Severus and her... did she even need to bother explaining to herself what was wrong? Silvie, one of her best friends... she hated her. Melanie couldn't talk to Hermione, or Ron, or even her own brother. If they would find out, they'd hate her, too.

Severus took a shaky breath, sliding down the wall he was leaning on. He needed to control himself. This lack of emotion was making the only one he desired to feel-anger- powerful. He almost killed Stefan. Stefan turned, walking down the long dungeon and not stopping when he pa.ssed Damon's door. He was not leaving tonight. |

Melanie closed her eyes. She let a million memories fly through her mind. Mostly pictures and sounds. Severus, telling her that he loved her for the first time at her birthday party. Damon, hitting on her literally twenty minutes after they had met. Hermione, giggling like a lunatic at Damon, which made her slightly jealous, although she would've never admitted it. Playing poker and all of those insane dares. Lying to Harry, to Ron, to Hermione. Kissing Severus... him saying all of those things that made her feel like the luckiest person in the world to have him. Then there was the crying. The countless times her and Severus had fought. The times where he had told her that they couldn't be together. The times that she agreed when he said that. The times where they didn't care if it was wrong, because it felt so right.

Severus finally let go, feeling the emotions flood him like a dam that was too full. With the emotions came memories. The first time he kissed Melanie. Setting up the perfect birthday for her. Giving her the perfect birthday present. Telling Melanie that he loved her. Seeing Damon kiss Melanie. Twice. Hearing about it once. The fighting. The guilt. The fact that what they had was so wrong it was right. Severus suddenly found himself thinking about what he had to lose. |

Damn. Melanie knew what she had to do. She needed to see Severus. She needed to; she was afraid that if she didn't she would kill herself with these thoughts. She stood up, waved her wand to unlock the door, and walked down the hallway in front of her. Melanie didn't know where she was, but she knew she'd find him eventually. After what felt like hours of searching, but was really only minutes, she found what she had been looking for and burst into silent tears once again. "I'm so sorry, Severus."
