Though unseen, the Shadows were still there. They twisted, feeling the coldness that emenated from Melanie's body. They expanded, absorbing the cold, unstead replacing the numbness with cold fear.

Melanie felt these...things still here. Inside of her. And she didn't like it at all. "Get out of here!" She yelled, annoyed.

They muffled her scream. No one else needed to hear her. Not now.

"Damn you people," She said to the shadows. Melanie held the necklace up once more, trying to make a decision. Would he save her if she called for him? Would he even come? If it was any day but today, Melanie wouldn't even have second thoughts about it. But now she wasn't too sure. ((I dunno if she should do it or not. >;c))

(Think it. Thay can't interfere with her thoughts.)

((Kay.)) Melanie had an idea. She figured she'd ask for Damon. Since she was afraid to speak in case they muffled her voice again, she thought it to him. Damon. Could use a little help right now, she said in her mind, praying to God that these things couldn't interfere.

That's not answering my question. The Shadows flew across the air, swooping towards Melanie.

Damon! Melanie shouted in her head. Then she thought about his question for a moment. I guess you don't have a reason to help me. What have I ever caused you but pain? What have I ever caused anyone but pain? You're right. You shouldn't help me. I deserve whatever these things are gonna do for me.

The Shadows dove for her, wrapping Melanie in their cold embrace as she was transported to Damon. They let her go, slinking away from Damon glare. "Your welcome."

"Thanks," Melanie sighed out. "Why'd you do it?"

Damon turned his back on her. "You don't want me to answer that."

Damon shook his head. "I won't answer. Now go to the girl's dorm."

"Wait." Melanie grabbed his arm and turned him around to face her. "Thank you again." She stood slightly on her tip-toes and kissed Damon on his cheek.

Melanie rolled her eyes. "A.sshole. See you later, Damon." She spun on her heel and walked away, out of the duengons. But no way in Hell was she going to her dorms. She felt like she didn't belong there in a way. She didn't know where she belonged, actually. Nowhere. That's where she belonged. That was what she had to do. She had to get out of here, out of Hogwarts. Out of this life somehow. No, Melanie wasn't going to kill herself. But she was going to return to what she called 'home,' though it was one of her least favorite places to be. She wasn't doing this for her happiness, though. She was doing it for everyone else's benefit. Somehow, though, she had to tell Severus what she was doing. She sat against a wall, taking out a quill and a piece of parchment from her bag. Melanie scribbled words on the paper, words that made her tear up and eventually stain the paper with water droplets. The ink smeared in some places, but it was readable. It took her nearly an hour to think of what to write, but she did it. Melanie folded the paper and wrote one more word on the front, a word that would make her cry more than any other word on that paper-'Severus.' Quietly she went, back down to the front of Severus' room, making sure she wasn't to be seen or heard. Then Melanie sighed to herself as she slid the letter under his door. She felt stupid. She felt cliche. And worst of all, she felt as though she just had slipped the remaining piece of her heart underneath that door. ((Lemme know if you can't read that. I teared up when I read this over myself. o__o))
