"But Headmaster-" "No buts, Severus. Since you refuse to tell me where she is, you must go and get her." Dumbledore replied sternly. "I want her back in a week." 

Melanie had been up for hours. Actually, she'd been up for a week straight. But the Dursleys didn't know that. "Get up, you freak!" Came a voice from behind the door that led into the bedroom she had been 'sleeping' in. It was her usual wake-up call. Her uncle telling her to wake up, followed by an insult that usually related to her abilites. "I'm up, Uncle Vernon," Melanie said emotionlessly, opening the door to find a red-faced, short, fat man standing there.

"You know the drill, kid," Vernon said to her, glaring at her form. "I know." Melanie pushed Vernon out of the way and headed for the kitchen to make her Aunt, Uncle and cousin breakfast.

Melanie hadn't thought about anything for a week. She was as good as a zombie, basically. Her sarcastic, conceited, cocky attitude was long gone, replaced with an emotionless, tired-looking girl. She wasn't Melanie Lily Potter anymore. As she began to fry bacon upon Dudley's request, tears slid down her face. She couldn't remember the last time she wasn't crying. And of course, the Dursleys couldn't care less. They were almost happy that she was back so that they didn't have to do any work anymore.

Melanie hadn't been going to Muggle School. She hadn't walked outside of the house since she arrived, actually. If the Dursleys didn't need her, she would be in her room, the one that her and her brother shared over the summer. She would, of course, be doing nothing.

Severus sighed to himself, stalking through his room. "Damon!" Damon popped into the room upon request. "Yyyyyyesssssss?" He asked.

"We're going on a rescue mission." 

((It's all right. xD))

Melanie sat a plate full of food on the table in front of Dudley gently, then watched as the kid scarfed it down in a good minute. "More!" He commanded, his mouth overflowing with bacon and eggs. Melanie shook her head. "Dudley, you're going to have a heart attack if you eat any more bacon," She said emotionlessly. Dudley stood up angrily, his face red. "I said more!" He repeated, shoving Melanie into the counter. Instinctively, Melanie raised her fist and was about to punch her cousin in the jaw, but soon dropped it with a sigh and walked back to her room lazily.

"Damon, it's over here." Severus rolled his eyes.

"Really?"

"Your powers of provocation are truly baffling, boy."

"Shut up before I take a picture of you and show everyone." Damon warned.

They looked like such a team, donned in all black, combat boots and studded belts. Not to mention the new ear piercings on the both. Severus grinned, "Let's go." He said, knocking on the Dursley's front door. 

"Melanie, door," Drawled out Vernon lazily, who was sprawled out across the couch. Melanie groaned to herself; he was much closer than she was to the door, but she walked over to open it up. She opened the door and blinked once.

"Great, now I'm hallucinating." Melanie slammed the door in the boys' faces. 

"Gotta do everything yourself." severus sighed, looking down at Damon once. He slid his wand from his long sleeve and into his palm, leaning back and kicking the door off it's hinges.

"Here. We. Go!" He laughed. 

Vernon stood up, furious, ready to walk up to Severus and Damon. "Uncle, please," Melanie said. "I'll fix it later." Vernon growled and sat back down.

Then she eyed the two boys. She didn't want to believe they were standing there. No, she must be dreaming. That was the only time Melanie ever saw Severus. Her dreams were filled with him, his eyes, his voice...she shook her head as though she was shaking the thoughts away. "Why are you here?" Melanie said at last, in the emotionless tone that had become hers for the past week, though she was shaking slightly with emotion. With happiness. With anger. With disappointment. With fear.

Damon growled loudly, trying to control the shaking of his body. He didn;t need to change here.

"No, you won't fix the door." He walked up to Vernon's form. "You," He snarled, sticking his finger in his face. "Have been slaving Melanie around while you and your family sit on their fat as.ses getting fatter. I'm putting a stop to it." 

"I knew you would say that, which is why I brought back-up." Severus replied. He stepped away from the door, revealing a very shaggy familiar face.

"Snivellus, can't you do anything right?"

"Shut up, Mutt."

"Sirius?" Asked Melanie, cocking her head to one side. "My God, I haven't seen you in forever." Then she looked back up at Severus. "You never let me finish my sentence. I can't go back there. Without brushing my hair and changing these god-awful clothes." She looked down at the oversized t-shirt and sweatpants that she was wearing and shivered in disgust.
