Melanie had to stop herself from cringing at the word 'teacher.' And the word 'student.' She was sure he must've done that on purpose. But she wasn't going to leave yet. She still had a million images in her head, a million voices, a million memories. Honestly, I'd rip out my heart if you said you'd be impressed. And, though I'd prefer you find a boyfriend elsewhere, I would sit here in this spot and wait for you forever and eternity. And I promise that no matter what happens, if you look back, I'll always be here. Melanie started to cry harder as she heard Severus' voice in her mind, saying those words that she had once heard from him what seemed like a million years ago. No, she wasn't sobbing. When Melanie cried, it was always silent, like she wasn't. She hoped Severus had heard himself in her head.

Melanie felt her cheeks growing hot. It felt...weird to have Dumbledore know about all of this. Almost embarra.ssing. But what really made her upset was when he mentioned that it was the past. That it wasn't going to happen again. "I knew I shouldn't have come back here," She hissed out finally, burying her face in her hands.
