Severus upped the level, chuckling mockingly. "Your brother is as every bit as pathetic and self absorbed as your father." He eyes gleamed, wow, this was fun. He just hoped she knew he didn't mean it. Mostly.

"A double whammy, isn't it? Making fun of my brother and my father," Melanie mock-snarled, and then drew back her fist. She punched him in the jaw, making it look like she had actually tried to hurt him although she definitely did not do it hard at all. Her eyes twinkled with mischief. Harry stood up when Snape had insulted him, looking angry. Melanie shot him a look quick that told him to sit down, and he did, mumbling something incoherent.
We fell through the ice when we tried not to slip.

Severus laughed, raising a hand to his jaw. "Ouch," He said, his tone mocking her. "My turn." He grabbed the front of her shirt, pulling her up into the air, and let go, smirking as she stood hanging. "Now, as I was saying..." |

Melanie struggled, trying to get down. If only she had her wand... Harry couldn't help but stand up again, whipping out his wand. "Finite Incantatem." He pointed his wand at his sister, sighing in relief when her feet touched ground again. Melanie got back up in Severus' face. "Say one more thing about my family, and I swear to God, I'll actually punch you."

"He died for me and my brother." Melanie said, tears in her eyes. "I-I can't believe you would fu.cking say this to my face." She turned around and sat back down, placing her head down on the desk. Harry rubbed her back soothingly, although he was upset himself.

Melanie could not get out of there fast enough. She ran, ignoring the calls from Hermione, Harry, and Ron. She ran right out of the school, headed for her tree. The one that she and Silvie had hid under; the one where her and Damon had spent under while ditching class. She sat down against it, buried her face in her hands, and she cried.

How could Severus say that stuff? Melanie knew he hated her father, but that...it had just gone too far. She knew that James did not treat Severus right at all, but everyone that knew him said he had matured by his seventh year and really was a good person. Damnit, she wished she knew him...so much...Melanie only remembered bits and pieces of James. And some of those things she wasn't sure if they were actual memories or just things people had told her. It was difficult to accept, really, knowing that she'd never know her dad. And that whole scene back there made it a hundred times worse.

Melanie wondered who was going to come after her first. Definitely not Severus. It was either Stefan or Damon, and she was betting on Damon. Whatever. Whatever he said to her would not change the things Severus had said.
