The sight of Umbridge made Melanie run a million ideas through her head. Quickly, she muttered a spell that made her eyes red and puffy. Time to put her acting skills to good use. "Oh, hi, Ms. Umbridge," Melanie sniffled out, pretending to be upset. Umbridge stared at the girl. Was she crying? "What's going on here?" She asked skeptically, raising her eyebrows at the pair. "Ms. Umbridge, I was...I was..." Melanie broke out in a fake sob. "You see, I just...had a messy breakup with a boy I was seeing." She sniffled again. "And Professor Snape...he f-found me...crying..." She trailed off, tears spilling down her cheeks. "Who was the boy?" Umbridge demanded, not exactly believing Melanie yet. Maybe this question would stump her. Without missing a beat, Melanie choked out "D-Damon. Damon Salvatore." It was the first guy she thought of.
