Though another tear rolled down Melanie's cheek, she smiled up at Damon softly.

Damon returned the smile, hopping off the stage and thanking everyone for the applause.

Dumble clapped, smiling broadly. "Thank you mr. Salvatore." He reached into the goblet again. "And the next will be... Melanie Potter!" 

Melanie was clapping too, up until she heard her name. She groaned. "I hate you all," She announced, before slowly standing up.

When she got up onto the stage, she mumbled, "Accio guitar," and her acoustic guitar flew into her hands. She felt more comfortable with the instrument in her hands, and began to play, her eyes first on her moving hands.

"Share with me the blankets that you're wrapped in, because it's cold outside, it's cold outside. Share with me the secrets that you've kept in, because it's cold inside, it's cold inside."

A stool found itself on the stage. trying to make Mel comfortable. Severus' eyes widened. He knew this song. 

Melanie knew that everyone's eyes were on her, but she could only feel one black-eyed gaze.

"And your slowly shaking fingertips, show that you're scared like me, so let's pretend we're alone. And I know you may be scared, and I know we're unprepared, but I don't care."

As Severus' eyes looked down, Melanie's went up to search for him in the crowd. 

"Tell me, tell me, what makes you think that you are invincible? I can see it in your eyes that you're so sure. Please don't tell me that I'm the only one that's vul-ner-able, impossible."

Severus smiled softly to himself. The students had to choose their songs. If he got picked, his song would be chosen for him. Please, let him not be chosen.

"I was born to tell you I love you...isn't that a song already? I get a B in originality." Melanie grinned at the crowd before turning her eyes back to Severus. "And it's true, I can't go on without you. Your smile makes me see clear. If you could only see in the mirror what I see."

Damon chuckled softly. He knew who this song was for.
