Melanie giggled, then headed for Snape's cla.ss. She liked to be early, of course. His cla.ss was the only one she bothered actually going to.

"Ouch. Failed at life? Isn't that harsh?" Melanie asked, laughing. Hermione came in then, with an excuse that she handed to Snape. Then she rushed to her seat, staring at Damon. She whispered to Melanie, "Why is there an incredibly good-looking guy sitting next to me?" Melanie rolled her eyes. "He can hear you, and because he likes to follow me around." She caught Damon's eye and grinned.
