"I-I don't know, sir," Melanie said, sneering the word 'Sir' like she had been doing since he had told her to call him only that and Professor. She stirred more to try to figure out what was wrong, and maybe even to fix it, but she was unsuccessfull.

Severus bore his eyes into hers, his smirk broadening when she sneered. He found his hand shooting out, grabbing her hand and peeling it away from the cauldron. He leaned down, his lips respectfully away from her.

"I'd hate to tell you this," Severus whispered to her, his eyes trailing over the cla.ss and their reactions. "But unless you'd like to spend next years surrounded by children one year younger than you, you'll have to take Remedial."

"Are you kidding?" Melanie groaned. "I'm already going to see you every weekday and every Saturday, and now I'm going to have to see you after cla.sses too?" She buried her face in her hands and mumbled something that sounded like "Sh-it."

Despite his attitude, Severus found himself chuckling.

"I'd advise you to keep it to yourself, unless you're like your insolent brother-an attention seeker. Or, you can just behind." 

((Uh, nine? Maybe ten.))

"Don't pick on Harry, he means well," said Melanie, angry, who placed her hands on her hips and stood up. Hermonie placed a hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her, but Melanie shook it off. "I'm tired of you insulting my family, Professor. If you want, we can talk about this after cla.ss." She gave him a smirk, and sat back down as if nothing happened.

Severus gave her a calculating look, picking his head back up. "Frankly, I believe I can wait until after cla.ss. I'll hold my tongue, but only for the sake of cheek." He said smoothly.

"Good choice, Professor," Said Melanie, with a wide smirk on her face. Hermoine whispered, "You just might be the craziest witch to walk the planet." Melanie laughed a crooked, almost evil laugh. "I know," she said out loud.

Severus made a sound that closely resembled a choked growl.

"Damn masochist." He muttered, rolling his eyes to his watch. "Cla.ss dismissed." 

Melanie, of course, stayed right in her seat as everyone else ran out the door.

"How's it been, sir?"

Severus shook his head, taking a seat behind his desk.

"Utterly boring, really. Sometimes I find it hard to remember why I became a teacher...." He replied, looking at her pointedly.

Silvie was out the door in a flash... Potions had been hell, as usual.  She rolled her eyes as she remembered the clas.s.  It was time for one of her most dreaded clas.ses...herbology.  She gave a sigh of annoyance, Draco glancing at her with an eyebrow raised.  "You'll do fine." he said trying to comfort her.  Silvie glared but trudged in the direction of the greenhouses.
