"Stop it, Damon. Flip it." Severus growled.

"No, why? I made all the pain go away." He whispered.

"Mel needs you, too."

"No she doesn't, remember? She picked you, which is why you got the mission. Why are you so damn special, huh?" 

((YOU. DAMON. YOU. UGH. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I HATE YOU ASDFGHJKLASFGJSKLAF))

"Mel, what's wrong?" Hermione rushed into the room. The two girls that had been in there had went to go get her, knowing she was a good friend of Mel's.

"'Mione?" Melanie asked without looking, although she knew it was her. "'Mione." Melanie sat up, her eyes red as she looked at her. Hermione took one look at Mel and knew something was bad. Really bad. She wrapped her arms around her best friend and brought them together, and Melanie just sat there, holding onto one of Hermione's arms.

"Hermione, it... it's horrible. Sev.." Hermione cut Melanie off. "Shh. You can tell me later," She said softly. "Let it out, Mel."

"If I let it out totally, 'Mione, I'd be punching you in the face."

"I've been asking myself that question for almost a year, Damon." Severus said softly, letting him go.

"I'd be better for her and you know it!" Damon cried out angrily, glaring up at him.

"You would." Severus agreed. "You'd get the mission done, though. And I can't let that happen." 

When Melanie finally got around to taking a few deep breaths and being able to talk, she did. And she told Hermione everything. Every detail of every little thing, from the first time she kissed Sev to how Damon was a vampire and how she was pretty sure she loved both of them but she loved Sev more. And of course, she told her about the note, too.

Hermione was mad. She was upset, and she was sympathetic, but most importantly, she was mad. This was a man, a man that her best friend had trusted, and what? He just let her down like this? It was enough to make Hermione breathe shakily, and she was normally a calm person.

"I.. I-I don't know which I would pick over the other..." Damon admitted. "We have a front to keep up."

"And that's where you fail, Damon." Severus replied. "Melanie comes first. And I'm going to show her."

"How?" Damon asked.

"I'm going to marry her."

"W-what?" Damon aked incredulously. "You can't be serious, Sev!"

"Dead serious. I already have the ring."

"SON OF A B!TCH."

"There. That's everything." Melanie said, and looked up at Hermione, knowing she'd know what she was asking.

"Of course I won't say anything to anyone, Melly. Not a single word." 'Mione responded to Mel's silent question, and she meant it, too. "You know that."

"Thank you, Hermione." Melanie sighed, untangling herself from the other girl. "This really means a lot."

"Listen, we're going to do a muggle thing tonight, Mel. We are going to watch romantic comedies and get loads of ice cream and eat it from the carton and you are going to feel better, okay?" Hermione said with a laugh.

Melanie gave 'Mione a small smile. "Sounds perfect."

Damon sighed. "You know I'm on your side to the end. I always have been, and I always will be. Even if it means I have to die by your sides, we're double agents together." He said, sticking his hand out to him.

Severus looked at him, grabbing his hand and pulling him a hug. "Thanks, Damon. But I'll still stake you if this gets out." 

((Damon flip the 'effin switch back bro.))

"C'mon, Mel, let's go... somewhere alone, so we don't bother people." Hermione chuckled, but Melanie looked at her seriously. "No. Gryffindor Common Room. If anyone complains, I'll kick their ass." Melanie started down the stairs.

"I'll get the ice cream!"

"Hey hey, you can't kill your best man." Damon chuckled, pulling away.

"Flip the switch, Damon. Mel's going to kill you first."

"She doesn't have to know."
