[[POKEMOSHKA~~]]

Ari winced as he heard a high-pitched screech. Or maybe it was the girl's normal voice. Either way, he didn't stop to listen to her words. They meant nothing to him, so why bother?

Ari sulked around for a bit before he came upon a rotting wooden bench. He hadn't seen a bench made out of wood in a while, most were made out of plastic or metal now-a-days, so he just had to sit on it. As the young man sat, he felt his phone started to vibrate. He scowled and pulled it out. On the screen was a picture of a Pidgey with a piece of mail in its beak. The Pidgey flapped its wings a few times and cooed. Ari opened the message.

From: AWESOME POSSUM
Hey, my Abra keeps sneezing. You're being an emu again, aren't you?

Ari shook his head and couldn't help but smile. His little brother always seemed to know when he was upset. Ari was about to reply when a few drops of water fell on the screen. He quickly put his phone away and got up. Looked like it was time to return to the center.

As the rain fell harder, Ari found himself running, managing to step in all of the puddles that had formed. He was drenched when he got back.

After several minutes of deep breathing, Elodie had managed to keep herself calm. Sure. It wasn't like all of the teams had made any progress before, so why would they make progress now? She swallowed the lump in her throat as she imagined her older brother being tortured for answers that he probably didn't know.

She began to shake as the realization hit her that she very well may never see him again. And the last words that she'd said to him weren't ones that she was proud to repeat. She'd said he was stupid for getting himself involved in the army for the war. And then she'd slapped him.

She put her hand up to her head and massaged her temples. She clenched her fists to keep from shaking anymore and she crossed the street on legs that were numb, Cinder following her every step of the way, a comforting presence. The rain hit her on the head, the majority of it rolling off of her hair and soaking into her shirt, which was a short-sleeved vee neck black tee.

She entered the pokemon center, nearly running into the man that Cinder had whined at earlier. Though it was only mid evening, she needed some place to herself where she could possibly scream into a pillow. Part of the reason that she was so angry was that her father had told her so bluntly, and hadn't had a hint of sorrow in his voice. Yep. Her family was jacked up.

She nearly ran into the boy that Cinder had whined at earlier as she entered, and she noticed that he was soaking wet, dripping water onto the floor.

"You should speak to Nurse Joy before me. You seem much more in need." She gestured for him to go to the desk before her, not wanting to seem impolite like her parents.

Ari waved his hand (not like a hello wave but a... you know wave.). "I already got a room," he lied. He actually didn't ask the nurse for a place to stay for the night since he had been planning to just camping out in the hallway that had the window to where his pokemon were.

Ari really didn't know what to do next, he thought that it might be rude to just walk away, so he stood there awkwardly and tried not to shiver. It was surprisingly cold in the Center. Maybe Nurse Joy kept the temperature low so then fools like him would get a room instead of spending the night in a hallway.

Ooc:// Could've sworn I replied to this. o.o XD

Bic://

Elodie smiled and nodded. "Alright then. I'll let you be a gentleman." She moved forward and up to the nurse, tucking a lock of her wet hair behind her ear. She gave the nurse a warm smile.

"Can I get a room for the night?" she asked, rocking back and forth from her heels to her toes. "I can't sleep outside tonight, because it's raining cats and dogs." She shrugged.

"Sure you can." Nurse joy handed her a room key and said, "It'll be room number five."

Elodie nodded and said, "Thankyou," as she walked off. She was still interested as to how that nurse had pink hair, but never any regular-colored roots. She walked a little while down the hallway, but stopped at the window that peered into the area where pokemon were treated. There were two pokemon that were lying there unconscious, scratches all over their bodies, breathing through oxygen masks.

Her heart ached a little for them, and she wished that there was some way she could help them. However, she couldn't.

Cinder, who had been silent for the majority of the time, propped his paws up on the wall to peer through the glass and let out a whine, his tail wagging in sympathy for the injured pokemon. He then rubbed his horn against Elodie's bicep, causing the girl to sigh.

[[xD Do you think they would have the ex
pression 'raining cats and dogs' in pokeland?]]

Ari waited until he thought the girl was out of earshot. "How are they doing?" He asked the nurse lowly.

"They're in the same condition they were in half an hour ago when you asked me." Nurse Joy nearly snorted. "Ask me again in the morning. Here's your key." The woman handed him a small key with a seven on it.

Ari scowled, and she returned the look with a smile. Apparently she had known what he had been planning. "Thanks," he mumbled and started walking towards the hallway to the room. Ari winced as he saw the girl from before looking at his Natu and Hoothoot. He wondered what she would do if she knew they were his. Would she call him a horrible person? Maybe she would just give him a sad look or something like that.

Ari shook his head, casting out the thoughts. He really shouldn't care about what others think so much. The young man paused as he passed the girl, sparing a glance at his injured pokemon, then continued on his way.

Elodie heard footsteps coming towards her, and then coming past her. She was so worried for the pokemon on the other side of the window that she only looked at him once he had passed her. She swallowed the lump in her throat and moved to the door that was two doors away from the end of the hall.

It wasn't immensely large, but it was adequate enough space for the night. She placed her bag on the extra bed, and Cinder jumped up, messing up the covers to form himself a bed. He flopped down on the bed and rolled over onto his back, his legs sticking up in the air.

Elodie smiled and laughed and took a picture of him like that. He was so cute when he did that. She walked over to her pokemon and gently stroked his exposed stomach. Cinder wagged his tail, the tip lightly hitting Elodie on the thigh.

"I hope you never get hurt that bad. I feel sorry for whoever owns those pokemon. Cinder, if I saw you in that situation, it would break my heart." She leaned down and pecked her pokemon on the nose.

Flicking the overhead lights off, but leaving a lamp on, Elodie changed into her night clothes: a pair of long flannel pink pajama bottoms with images of skitty all over it. The top was lilac with a pokeball on it.

She flopped down on the bed facefirst and played some version of brick break, but the bricks were pokemon and the ball was a pokeball.

Ari opened his door and stepped in, closing it behind him. The room looked unused, which he supposed was a good thing. It reminded him of a hotel room by how everything was in perfect condition and everything was all straight and all of that stuff. Ari wasn't sure if he liked the perfection. It was such a strange thing to him.

He jumped onto the bed and rolled around a few times, messing up the sheets and covers. Ha. That'll show those perfectionists. Ari sat up and kicked off his shoes and pulled of his socks, throwing both in the middle of the room.

Ari sat there for a few minutes, not really sure what to do. He really didn't have anything with him, other than the two pokeballs at his waist, his cell phone, and some kind of card that you swiped and got money. Tomorrow he would have to go out and get some supplies like a bag and some new clothes.

He flopped back onto the bed. He would also need to call his brother sooner or later and tell him about the situation he had gotten into. That could, hopefully, wait until the morning.

Ari got up to turn off the lights and got back into bed.

Elodie finished playing her game after about three game overs. She pursed her lips together and rolled over. Cinder huffed in his sleep, his legs slightly twitching. Elodie smiled in his direction and then frowned at the pressure on her bladder.

She shouldn't have drank that whole bottle of water.

She was nearly asleep when she couldn't stand it anymore. She sood from her bed, not waking Cinder, and stumbled out of the hallway, her bare feet dragging the floor. She rubbed her eyes as she walked into the area designated for ladies and walked out shortly afterwards, feeling much better.

Her eyes drifted to the window with the pokemon again and she sighed before going over to the window and watching the machines that were hooked up to them for a moment. She wondered what happened to them. Perhaps they got caught up in a battle in the war.

She thought back to her brother, feeling sorry again. He wanted to fight to prevent this from happening, and now he was missing. Along with his pokemon. She closed her eyes and pressed her forehead against the glass.

Ari woke up bright and early the next morning. The sun was rising and the Pidgeys were cheeping away without a care in the world. If he had been with his pokemon, they would have surly woken him up ten minutes earlier, demanding food and attention.

Checking his phone, he saw that he had three messages. Ari didn't bother reading a single one. He got up and put his socks and shoes back on. He attempted to straighten out his clothes and  make his hair at least somewhat orderly. When he was finished with that, he left his room.

Ari peered through the glass, trying to see how Natu and Hoothoot were doing. The looked a hell of a lot better than they had the day before. That was good. If he was lucky, they would heal quickly and there would be little scars left over.

"I'm going out for a bit," he said. It was doubtful that either of his friends would hear him, the glass looked very thick and they appeared to be sleeping. "I'll be back soon, so don't worry."

Ari sighed and left the center, thinking about they things he would need to get.

Elodie hated morning for this very reason. Cinder licked her face furiously, willing his master to wake up and get moving. Every morning, it was the same old deal- Elodie wanted to sleep in. Cinder wanted to go for a walk. The auburn-haired girl tried to pull the covers over her head to shield her face, but it was to no avail. After a few more seconds of Cinder's persistent licking, Elodie sat on the edge of her bed and rubbed her eyes.

She grabbed her bag and went to the girl's bathroom. She had found out the night before that the center had showers that the public could use. There weren't any others using the bathroom at the time, so she took advantage of the showers. She walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later in a new pair of clothes, dark denim jeans and a light green tee shirt, and walked back to her room, her damp hair lightly sticking to the fabric of her blouse.

She ran a brush through her damp hair while petting Cinder with her free hand before walking out of the pokemon center, returning the key to Nurse Joy. She walked into a nearby coffeeshop, Cinder trotting at her heels.

Once she was in the shop, she ordered a cup of coffee and a two glazed donuts- one for herself and one for Cinder. She knew that she probably shouldn't be feeding Cinder a donut, but she figured that she needed to treat her pokemon for doing so good lately. The pokemon hadn't once stressed out about being on the road.

They sat at a table near the window and watched the other people nearby eat and converse with friends, the streets beginning to fill with cars, steadily going to workplaces. Pokemon of all shapes and sizes roamed aorund, some being owned and some being strays. Skitties hopped around alleyways, houndours and poochyenas scavenging near trash cans.

She watched as a blonde woman carried her espeon in a handbag. How odd.

She sipped her coffee and looked down at the table with wide eyes. Elodie wondered how the pokemon on the streets ate enough. If she saw a hungry pokemon, she would give it the granola bar in her bag, she decided.

Ari first went to a general store and got a rucksack that didn't cost too much. It was boring and brown, but it was large and had a bunch of pockets in it. Next he went to a clothing store and bought two days worth of clothes. Then it was back to the general store to get a few bars of soap and two metal water bottles.

It was nearly ten in the morning now and Ari was seriously shopped-out. Buying things wasn't exactly his favorite thing to do. At the same time, he knew he would need crap for when his pokemon were back in action.

Ari must have passed the small coffee shop three times already, but he only then noticed it after he was finished getting things. It looked like an interesting place and there weren't many people occupying the tables and booths.

He entered the shop and was surprised to hear the soft chime of bells attached to the door. You almost never saw things like that anymore; most stores had electronic gadgets that let out an annoying noise every time someone crossed the premises.

One of the waitresses came up to Ari while he was thinking. She showed him to a table and took his order, which ended up being hot chocolate.

Elodie noticed the man again. He was in the coffee shop now. She cocked her head. He seemed to pop up wherever she was. She had seen him pass the coffee shop several times, but payed it no attention earlier. Cinder had also noticed this.

As he gulped down the last bit of his donut, and Elodie did the same, the dog-like pokemon trotted over to the man, Ari, and lightly sniffed his leg. The dog pokemon found it strange that he didn't have any pokemon out around him. Elodie was surprised at this motion. Cinder wasn't normally that bold as to go up to a complete stranger and simply sniff him.

She whistled slightly, and Cinder's ears flicked in her direction. "Come, Cinder." She motioned for her pokemon to return to her. The pokemon sighed and did so. He wasn't really finished investigating the man's scent, but that was okay. Elodie gave the man an apologetic look. There was an empty table between them, so she just spoke across the room.

"He's normally not that bold. I'm sorry if he startled you or something." She stroked her pokemon's back. "Are those pokemon in the center yours?" She had to ask the question. Her curiosity was getting the best of her.

Ari watched the dog pokemon go back to its trainer. He winced at the question and turned his attention to the girl. It seemed to him that the girl was more bold than her pokemon was. He didn't voice his opinion, though, just nodded slowly.

"Why?" He asked the girl. At that moment, the waitress came back and placed a cup with steaming brown liquid in it in front of him. Ari thanked the woman and she left to go help another customer who had just entered the store.

Elodie bit her lip and looked down. "Well, they're not my pokemon, and you were the only other person in the pokemon center that I saw last night." She stopped biting her lip and traded the ex
pression for a nervous smile in Ari's direction.

"I'm sorry for asking the question. Curiosity is pretty much burned into my DNA." She scratched the back of her neck. "Anyways, they looked a lot better when I passed the window this morning."

Ari shrugged and smiled softly. "Yeah, they did look better..." He paused. "And it's okay for asking, I suppose I'd want to know who's they are too." He heard himself trip over his words, but continued anyway.

"What's your name?" Ari asked.

Elodie was glad that he wasn't angry or uncomfortable. She really needed to stop being so darn curious. It got her into all sorts of holes.

Cinder nudged her hand and brought her back into reality. Elodie smiled and said, "My name is Elodie Pine." She nodded and said, "It's only fair that I know your name now that you know mine."

"I'm Ari," he paused for a second, not sure if he should give his last name, but then decided to anyway. "Ari Jade." He awkwardly held out his hand, only to realize that one of them would have to get up to shake hands. "It's nice to meet you. Would you like to pretend we're next to each other to shake hands?" He asked.
