Elodie was amused, and she let out several light laughs that resembled the sound of a wind chime. "Don't worry. I had to refrain myself from holding my hand out, too." She held her hand out and shook it, pretending to shake his hand from this far away.
Cinder cocked his head, his canine brows furrowed in confusion. Humans were strange creatures, he thought.
"It's nice to meet you, too, Ari. So, do you know this area well?"

Ari shook the air back before returning his hand and sipping at his beverage. "Not at all." He admitted, shrugging. "I only came here yesterday. I'm from the northern region so all of this eastern land is all new to me."
Ari paused to take another sip. He bet that his tongue would be burnt tomorrow. "What about you? Are you from these parts?"

Elodie was a bit disappointed that he wasn't from around here. She needed some directions to a certain landmark. It was said to be a prime training area, and a great place to find new pokemon. She sighed and drank down the last of her coffee.
"I'm not from around here. I came here from the west." She looked at her empty cup, and patted Cinder's head. She could tell that Cinder missed the excitement of being a tauros-herding dog, but he had adapted well.

"May I ask why you're over here? Most people usually go south if they are traveling, or at least, that's what I've been told." Ari gulped at his drink, it wasn't as hot as before. He stood up and moved to the table next to Elodie, trying to be conspicuous with his actions. He had been yelled at before by a waiter for moving tables without asking.

Elodie bit her lip. How was she to put this. Most people thought it was unusual to go on your travels as a pokemon trainer after the appropriate age. She was just allowed to leave home a month ago.
"Well, I'm just trying to get the hold of being a trainer. I'm... I started a bit late, you see." She gave him a slightly embarassed look. "I can come and sit at your table if you want me to. It'll make it easier instead of having to move tables around."

Ari shrugged and gestured to the chair across from him. "Come and sit." He figured that he should have just asked to move to her table in the first place, but he really didn't want to intrude if she didn't want him to. But then again, she did have a pokemon with her, so...
"What do you mean by being late?" Ari asked. He wondered if she had a medical condition or something that had prevented her from becoming a trainer at the legal age.

Elodie moved to the chair across from Ari, Cinder following her around like the houndour she had raised him from. She readjusted herself, biting her lip at how the chair seemed to be slightly higher off the ground than the one she had previously sat on.
She was surprised that he didn't get what she had said. She decided to further explain. "Well, my parents wouldn't let me leave home until just recently. You know, because of the war and stuff." She scratched the back of her neck nervously.

Ari nodded slowly, thinking. "I can understand that, I suppose. I've heard that the war is a lot worse in the west. We aren't really having that much trouble in the north, or, at least, when I was still there."
He paused for a second and gave a wary smile. "I guess I didn't realize how the war was effecting other places other than my own. Sorry for making you explain." Ari bet that Elodie was feeling embarrassed or even angry for having to wait longer then needed to receive her first pokemon.

Elodie nodded. The war was definately worse in the west. This place was peaceful compared to how it was there. There were military blockades everywhere, and several quarantine zones.
She gave Ari a warm smile and waved her hand in a dismissing way. "It's fine. Sometimes it's better to explain and talk about it. But it wasn't too bad. Cinder was with me, and I trained him a lot while I was at home. But the only pokemon he got to battle were the tauros and my family's pokemon. He hasn't really been socialized with many other pokemon." She sighed, and Cinder did the same.

"Really? He seems really well mannered to me. He isn't acting up or all at any of the pokemon here." Ari gestured to a Caterpie attempting to climb a wall on the other side of the cafe. "Has Cinder even glanced at the bug once? I bet not. I've seen some pokemon so secluded because of the war that they have no idea how to act to the wilds." Ari shook his head sadly. It was always upsetting to see pokemon like that.

Elodie laughed. "We've been on the road for about a month now. He's seen plenty of other types of pokemon now. Though when he sees a rarer one, he sometimes gets antsy." She ran a hand through her hair, and then rubbed Cinder's ram-like horn.
"He's a good boy. He adapts well." She looked up to Ari again. "Maybe once your pokemon are well again, I can meet them. They look like strong, honorable pokemon." She gave him a warm smile.

Ari winced, thinking about Natu and Hoothoot. They were in pretty bad shape at the moment. "Sure. I'd bet they'd love to meet you and Cinder as soon as they get better. They're probably feeling lonely even if they have each other."
He looked down at the houndour. "Hey, can I pet Cinder? I've never had the chance to before."

Elodie was glad that he would allow her to meet his pokemon. Cinder would be fascinated by the Natu, she decided. He'd seen hoothoots before, so he wouldn't be interested in that pokemon as much.
She smiled when he asked if he could pet her pokemon. Cinder wagged his tail at the mention of his name by Ari. Elodie looked down at Cinder and then back up at Ari. "Of course you can pet him. He won't bite." She rubbed Cinder's back before lightly nudging him in Ari's direction.
Cinder sat beside Ari and looked up at him, panting slightly, his tongue lolling out of his mouth.

Air knelt down of the floor and started petting the houndour. Cinder's black fur was soft and warm to the touch, and the small white bone-bumps were smooth.
"What kind of attacks does he know?" Ari suspected there was at least one fire move, maybe one or two dark ones too. There was a surprising lack of fire pokemon up north, so it always excited Ari to be able to get so close to one.
He ruffled Cinder's fur once more and got back up into his chair.

Ooc:// Cinder is a houndoom, not a houndour. XD
Bic://
Cinder leaned enthusiastically into Ari's touch, his eyes closed in bliss, his tail thumping happily against the coffee shop's linoleum floor. He was a bit disappointed when Ari stopped, but he just looked up at him expectantly.
Elodie couldn't help but giggle at the scene. It was absolutely adorable! Her big, tough looking houndoom turned into a pile of mushy bliss when Ari touched him. She gathered her composure and answered Ari's question.
"He knows fire fang, ember, shadow ball, and roar. I hope that he'll learn more powerful moves as we travel." She twisted a lock of her auburn hair around her finger absentmindedly.

[[Woops... xD]]
Ari nodded thoughtfully. "Those are some pretty good moves." He paused. "How long have you had him? I know that you said you got him late, but how late actually?" He asked, titling his head. He wondered if he was crossing the line by asking something like that, but then figured that Elodie wouldn't answer if she didn't want to.

Elodie smiled and accepted the compliment about Cinder's moves. She cocked her head at his question.
"No, no, no." She shook her head. "I got Cinder when I was a young child. I never got a starter pokemon, due to the war and stuff. But I don't need one. I would've had to train the starter pokemon to be just as strong as Cinder, and that would take a good while..." She scratched the back of her head. "Cinder's my only pokemon. I've never really had that 'connection' with another pokemon."

Ari nodded again, understanding. "Ah, that makes since." He looked down at the table for the first time. It had a black and yellow patten made out of small square tiles that made it look like a checkerboard. He hadn't played board games in a very long time. Maybe Natu would play with him when she got better...
The waitress came over to the two of them and told Ari his bill. He handed her cash and she walked away.

Elodie had already paid her ticket, so she said, "Do you have any other pokemon besides that natu and the hoothoot?" She put her elbows on the table and rested her head on her hands.
Cinder sat down beside Elodie and placed his horned head in her lap with a slight whine. He probably needed to use the bathroom. She would go outside with him when she and Ari finished talking. She knew that her houndoom had the ability to hold it.
Stroking from his horns down to his nose, Elodie let out a sigh.
