Hello everyone! The name's Lola. I don't much poke around in the roleplaying section of Res anymore, however here I am in search of a one on one. I'm not very good at intros, so I'll cut to the chase and give you an overview of my plot idea, what I want in a roleplay partner, and so on. Give me a comment below or rMail if it piques your interest!
Plot Overview
Basically, what I want is a roleplay that loosely mirrors the European conquest of the New World, more exactly Columbus' discovery of the Americas. The idea is that there are two conflicting cultures: the first would be the tribal, "native" culture that uses magic and inhabits the land that is discovered. The lands are separated by the Sea of Memories, an ocean of sorts that is composed of ethereal, magical matter, and whose power the native culture embraces and harnesses while the other culture spurns and even fears it. The other culture, let's call them the explorers or conquerors, are a more technologically advanced, steampunk-style culture that arrives in submarines in the style of Verne. Cue conflict. In the midst of these colliding and intermingling cultures, there's the cliche story of boy-meets-girl, except that in this context, the romance is a dangerous one. As their two civilizations struggle between domination and coexistence, the lovers must decide on what side they stand, and what they will do for love.
About the Roleplay
-I'm sorry, I can't help it--I love romance in my roleplays, however I also want to explore the ideas surrounding conflict and conquest in this roleplay, so I'd love to find a partner who can balance it between the two.
-I like to do my roleplays over email, so please have a functioning email address!
-I haven't even touched the topic of literacy, but to avoid ranting, I will be concise and simply say you must be literate. No novels required, but please several paragraphs per post.
-I can be very, very bad about remembering to reply. I'd love it if you wouldn't get mad at me, and it would be even better if you would just give me a poke to remind me if I start lagging.
-I'd very much like to be the female, native character in this roleplay.
-PLEASE pleasepleaseplease please have a functioning knowledge of the steampunk genre.
-A little bit of knowledge about the early stages of the Columbian Exchange would be nice, too, just to give some realism to the roleplay even if it isn't exactly accurate.
I think that's about all for now. I'd love to get this up and running soon. Thanks!
