It really bugs me that some people don't bother to at least attempt to use proper english when posting on the forums even though it says so in the forum rules. >.<

I'm with you a hundred percent on this, dearie. Chatspeak and "L33t" speak annoy me to no end and there really is no jusified reason that explains why you're incapable of typing like a proper human being.

Yeah, it annoys me when I type with proper English and my friends message me back like this:

no ways i cant bilieve you r bro did tat

I text message in full sentences. So naturally I agree with you fully. And even if it was not in the rules to sound like an educated human being, I would still expect you to write correctly. To be perfectly honest, if you don't put any effort into what you write I stick you in the "kid korner" in my mind and will continue to think of you as a child until your writing improves.

 I was almost an English major. I started going to college when I was 17 because I am a genius, for seriously. I tested into the above average English clas.s, and there were still people who were writing "does" as "dose" and saying things were "hards for some people." 

Words could not express how disturbed I was. 

xD Right with you there, Sather. In 2007, I tended to abbreviate certain things and almost never capitalised.. but especially because of roleplaying, Res helped me get out of that. It wasn't until roleplaying that I started putting a consistent effort into capitalisation and punctuation.

Although, I don't shun chatspeakers either. P: I've found they can be pretty fun people just like the rest of us - and you know they'll usually come around in the ways of writing eventually. Just be patient and leave writing style out of the picture, and it's pretty easy to make friends with 'em.

Well. I don't want friends. I want intelligent sounding people. D: And it's not so much shunning, just imagining them as a 4 year old with a typewriter. Which is kind of cute so I treat them like the kids I babysit. And most people don't like that. 

But, I probably am older than most people here. Don't know why I should expect wonderful writing from all the young people. My old-person crankiness rubs off on the petsites. WRITE GOOD AND STAY OFF MY LAWN. Whippersnappers.

But really, roleplaying did help my writing a lot (but I was big on the writing well thing even before I found Neopets and their roleplay board.) I first started roleplaying when I was 12. I was pretty bad at writing and spelling then (I was one of the "dose" = "does" kids, regrettably.) but I didn't chatspeak. I just never have. Never liked it either. Yeah, I don't know.
