Hi! I read somewhere that a pets color and rarity have an affect on what types of eggs you find and im wondering if this is true and if so what other effects do the color and species of your pet have?

Different species have different rarities so some eggs may be easier to find and more common than others. The colour has no effect on anything as this isn't determined until the egg is hatched! :)
