A few quick bits of advice for getting started.
Usually the best way to find out what an item is worth is checking the Item database
To get there hover your mouse over "Information" and then click "Item Database".
type in the name of the item and it will show you the recent sales so you can get a good idea of its price and rarity.
To check a pets value hover over "Information" then click " Creatu search"
use the drop down menus to find the colour and species of pet your looking for,
making sure that the " Location" is set to " Rancher Shops".
Stocks are a great way to make TU ( found in games> skill)
The basic jist is just to buy low and sell high
