My personal favorite is Detective Conan. But that has [at least] 610 episodes and they're a little bit of a story, but is more of an episode thing. Exactly not what you're looking for, right. XD

Uhh. I have never watched the anime version, but I do like Fairy Tail from what I read in the manga. o-o I think it's still an ongoing series, though.

Also, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is another favorite of mine. Haven't watched it in a while, though. :C

I'll post more as I think of more, yes. I don't like most mainstream, though. >__>'

Good movies would be The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Howl's Moving Castle, Nausicaa and The Valley of The Wind, The Cat Returns, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. :3

Wolf's Rain is....ehh, a little too wierd for me.

dotHack (.Hack) is one of my favorites, not sure how long it is since I haven't read all the way through.

I also like Hellsing and Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicles, though Tsubasa is over 200 books and Hellsing is pretty long itself.  Tsubasa is really sad, and I've heard it gets fairly complicated as you get closer to the end (aven't gotten very far in it), and Hellsing's for the slightly older readers.

It depends on the types of anime you like...

Full Metal Alchemist is good if you like sorta-actiony, historical (fiction) with a touch of romance. If you do, try to watch " Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood " as it follows a little closer to the original manga storyline (is is much better, imo. Deeper characters and story line)

 Spirited Away is an awesome movie.

the art style is different, but i really love it. it only has english subs but its so worth watching. and there are three or so episodes of it in  Ayakashi - Samurai Horror Tales
