This is a generic place holder post, I will either update it with book lists or put an intro here :3

ANYTHING BY DIANA WYNNE JONES
.A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

So! A List or two (or three or many)
LIST #1: Dragons!
-"YA" (AKA I found it in YA or children's when I first found them):
    -tle="Dragonsdale Series by 'Salamanda Drake'" href="http://the2steves.net/dragonsdale-series/">Dragonsdale by Salamanda Drake : Girls riding horses as though they were ponies, complete with having dressage and riding in competitions! Looks appropriate even to share with elementary students, which is nice :3
    - tle="Joust series by Mercedes Lackey" href="http://www.mercedeslackey.com/books/joust.html">Joust Series by Mercedes LAckey : series set in an ancient Egypt/Ethiopia flavoured setting, with dragons and magic, I remember really liking it
    - tle="Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede" href="http://www.goodreads.com/series/40390-enchanted-forest-chronicles">Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia Wrede : These books are a LOT of fun, excellent characterization, one of a handful of books I have enjoyed rereading as a pretend adult as much as I loved them when I was a small human. Much use and loving mockery of fairy-tale tropes, to great effect.
    - tle="Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pit_Dragon_Trilogy">Pit Dragon Chronicles by Jane Yolen : I had trouble with these as a kid because I couldn't deal with the dragon hurting each other, because in the setting they are often pitted against each other (basically alternate world dog fighting, with all that is problematic about it, handled in [as I recall] a sensitive way, it's just SAD, but done well)

- IDK if it counts as YA, but I'd consider it a safe bet:
    - tle="Basil Broketail books" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bazil_Broketail">Basil Broketail books by Christopher Rowley : I just remember loving these, and that Basil (the main character, a non flying dragon) stole the show all the time by being awesome.
    - tle="Dragonlance Chronicles" href="http://www.amazon.com/Dragonlance-Chronicles-Trilogy-Gift-Set/dp/0786926813">DragonLance Chronicles:Chronicles Trilogy by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weiss : Just read the first three Dragonlance books. They're well written, even if a little dated. Tasslehoff steals the show, and this is the first series in the list so far where the dragons are largely evil [D&D settings being what they are/were]

-Not YA
    -Pern books by Anne McCaffrey, some are YA and some not, list is HUGE and I am getting lazy

...I feel too lazy to add more right now SORRY NOT SORRY

<s>placeholder for book list!</S>

it is too hard to list individual books and series sometimes... this list is authors I recommend :D

DIANA WYNNE JONES: EVERYTHING SHE WROTE (also the one posthumous novel in the Chrestomanci series)

Brandon Sanderson
: loving everything so far, wide range of characters, fascinating magic systems, bad ass ladies both fighty badass and social badass and flavours in between and sideways, also generally wonderful writing

David Weber: Solid Sci-fi, good fantasy, some really excellent stuff (my Faves are Path of the Fury and the War God series)

Tamora Pierce : my faves are the Beka Cooper books and the Circle of Magic books

idk, done for meow

So Pookah had this wonderfully brilliant idea to make LI S TS OF B O  OKS

and i love her god bless

F A N T A S Y

The Sight David Clement-Davies
//
 In the shadow of an abandoned castle, a wolf pack seeks shelter. The She-Wolf is about to give birth, and her pups will not be able to survive the harsh Transylvanian winter. But something more threatening than snow and wind stalks the pack - a lone wolf, Morgra, possessed of a mysterious and terrifying power known as the Sight. And with her travels a raven, a bird that feeds on the dead.

Morgra’s arts shows her that one of the pups born beneath the castle holds a key to power even stronger than her own- the power that that could give her control of this world and of the next. But the pack she hunts is brave and loving. They will do anything to protect their own, even if it involves setting in motion a battle that will involve all nature, including the creatures the wolves fear most, Man.

Fell David Clement-Davies
//
Fell is the sequel to The Sight, although it can be enjoyed entirely on
its own. It follows the fortunes of the lone black wolf who leaves his
pack to go out into the dangerous world. His destiny becomes linked to a
 girl, Alina, who herself has a mysterious past and is thought a
changeling. Their journey will take them into the wild to confront a
future that is linked to the survival of nature itself.

Fire Bringer David Clement-Davies
//
There is a prophecy among the deer. One day, a fawn will be born with
the mark of an oak leaf upon his forehead. His courage will lead the
other deer to freedom; his strength will defeat their greatest enemy.

Rannoch was born on the night his father was murdered. In a herd where the hunger for power has destroyed all that is good, he must escape to survive. Hunted by stags with antlers sharpened for the kill, Rannoch begins his treacherous journey. But he will face the destiny that he was born for; to conquer the force that drove him away.

                                    In a dark, troubled time, the prophecy is about to come true.

Watership Down Richard Adams
//
Set in England's Downs, a once idyllic rural landscape, this stirring
tale of adventure, courage, and survival follows a band of very special rabbits on their flight from the intrusion of man and the certain
destruction of their home. Led by a stouthearted pair of brothers, they
journey forth from their native Sandleford Warren through the harrowing
trials posed by predators and adversaries, to a mysterious promised land
 and a more perfect society.
