The rules have changed, so they no longer explicitly address discussions of religion, sexuality, etc. but the old rules stated that discussion of these topics is allowed as long as it's mature and respectful, meaning there can't be any bashing of other religions or things like homosexuality.
Even if it doesn't specifically talk about it now, it doesn't forbid it either.
There's actually a Christianity and Jesus Fan Club somewhere in the Fan Clubs.

It wouldn't be "messed up" if it was forbidden. This is Patrick's site, so if he doesn't want certain things discussed, that's his choice. Instead just be glad Patrick is very lenient with many forms of discussion. =)

The only reason why discussion of religion was forbidden was to respect and protect religious users. In the past, many discussions ended up in bashing when really insensitive users walk in. Staff had to break up fights. I have actually felt quite insulted when many users say 'religion is stupid' and actually preferred having all discussion banned. Even though people are more respectful now, I still feel a hint of insult when it's discussed because even though the phrasing is not malicious, the actual message they're trying to communicate is in fact quite insulting (to me at least).
This is actually a message to all people: please respect my beliefs, and I'll respect yours. I don't want to hear about paedophillic priests or the Al Qaeda. Just because there's one bad egg, doesn't mean all of them are rotten. You may think they're 'case studies' but you're wrong to think that what those people believed is what part of the actual teaching of their religion. You're really stupid to think that.
So please, anyone who is not religious please stay out of this thread (unless you're quite interested in the beliefs and would like to learn more).
(I'm not Christian by the way. I'm Buddhist)
