Ok im trying to save my money up for a laptop and i have some questions. How much memory is needed to store 30 hours of video? And is it stored in the hard drive or where else then cause i really have no clue. Also would this kind of memory be avallible in a laptop around $500? And also are there fees for getting it set up or not?

If some kind person could answer these questions that would be great. Also and use small words please cause i am technologically impaired.

Well what kind of video do you mean? The amount of memory it takes up will depend on all sorts of factors, like resolution and file type.

Although, if you already have all this video on a computer somewhere, you could find out by selecting all of your files (or if they're all in the same folder, just selecting the folder itself), right-clicking, and going to properties. It'll tell you how much space all of them together take up.

As yoshirules said, it depends on the quality of the video. I don't have a lot to say on the subject because I don't do a lot of video downloading, although for reference I'll tell you I have what I suspect to be about 12 hours of .avi files sitting in a size 4.3 GB folder.

I would recommend just getting the laptop you want because chances are it'll have enough space for 30 hours of video, but, if it really worries you or you feel like you'll be doing more downloading, just save up for an external hard drive.

Computer has a 250 Gb Hard Drive. Dont know if that is good enough but will have to be since it is going to require either a freakin miracle or borrowing lots of money from my family to get this thing. Only need $200 dollars more but thats alot for me.

250 Gb will certainly be enough for 30 hours of video! You might even have a little room left over after, lol.

Here's an example of how the video format differs in size.

I have a folder on one hard drive with 28 DVD movies, in DVD format, and it is 158GB. I have another folder with 15 movies in it, in .avi format, and it is 11GB.

Size will vary a good bit depending on format. And movies/tv episodes are addicting, I have 5 TERAbytes total (5,000GB) among my hard drives, and I will still need more space soon! XD
