Last night I was with Bandit, just playing with him and stuff. Then I was walking towards the door of our house, I wasn't going in I was just walking to it, then he ran past me and looked at me. I was saying, "No, Bandit, I'm not going inside." while putting my hands out then he rammed my legs then I fell flat on the ground, on my stomach then he was just licking my face and I was saying, "Don't worry, Bandit, I forgive you."

Hi guys, could I get some help?

Y'see, we're going to buy my grandpa a puppy this December. It needs to be small (so it can't cause as much damage), easy to train and shouldn't shed a lot. It has to be a freindly breed as well (there's a park nearby that my grandpa likes to go to, so no shih tzus or anything like that).

Any suggestions on breeds?

Ping - Personally, I suggest you get you're grandpa a yorkshire puppy, they're very sweet, one of the most intelligent breeds, small, and are one of the few breeds that don't shed everywhere because of their hair quality - they're also not very hyper and are mainly lap dogs that like to cuddle a lot, but do enjoy walks :)

 I've got myself two xD

What about poodles?  they're clean.  (i don't know about their shedding habits) but they don't really have fur so much as hair.

There's actually a poodle breeder near where he lives. We've highly considered a toy poodle but they said the earliest you can get one is in six months (when we went to the store the other day, they said they sold their last pup yesterday... bad timing ain't it?).

I dunno about yorkies, my mum isn't fond of them.

Ping: A WHIPPET! lol, they kinda shed small hair, but a breif brush maby 2 times a week is fine, no tempermant issues, smallish, and best part is they don't have that 'Doggy smell' they are relatily clean and only need bathing when ever ness*censored*ery, if raised correctly they are very social dogs (they can become a little scared sometimes, they mentaly scar easily so hitting is out of the equation) and... well... anything else you would like to know? hehe, they are great pets for any owner, new to dog ownership, not so new, 2 yrs old or 100 yrs old, they are gentle and loving and MUST, i repeat MUST be appart of the family, lol. they are very sociable when it comes to their pack XD

A whippet is too big in my opinion. I'm not really fond of sport dags either. We can't have a shedding, at all. It's going to be staying inside (the yard is too small), and I have astma (however you spell it). It doesn't really matter if we get a high maintenance dog, the area has tons of groomers and pet care centers. So I don't really think it's a good idea to get a whippet, sorry!

Ping: ahah! ... well, what i ment was... they are actually suited better for indoors, there like every other dog... they shed (all dogs shed to some extent, like people losing dead skin) but it isn't seasonal as it may have sounded, if they are being petted you don't even notive, also a whippet has been known for not triggering alergies. My mum has asthma and has no problems with them... hehe, i know you probibly already decided that a whippet isn't right for your Grandpa. also, whippets are very lazy dogs, haha, so the LOVE lounging around the house and being cuddled, they just need to be walked every day like any other dog. Also hehe, they are hounds, not really sporting dogs, but anywho... so, is knee hight too big? cause that is about how big our biggest one is, knee hight. to the head. Eh hehe, i love my whippets...

Question... how is your grandpa's condition? like normal, as in can do practicly anything a normal healthy person can do? and also, just might wanna watch out with small dogs, alot can be quite nippy, but i bet you already knew that XD

We've decided on a toy poodle, 'cause they're so cute. We immediately fell in love with the pet shop owner's one, and now we're getting one from a breeder in KL instead (of the one in JB). Anyways, they look good in his house (it's really pimped out, my parents are architects).  We were stuck between a cavalier king charles spaniel and a poodle. Cavaliers are harder to get, so we settled on a poodle instead.

I thought whippets were sporting dogs, they run races don't they?

My grandpa's pretty healthy. He has a few health problems, but they're not major. I have been keeping small dogs for years now. I'm pretty sucessful in training them not to nip (yup, take the newspaper out), apart from Chubby, he's really bad at learning. He only 'bites' (he isn't really trying, he doesn't like to hurt people) when his hair is being cut, which he hates, but not for fun luckily.

Hehe ping... cute, we call one of our whippets Chubby, lol, ironic huh?

Yeah, whippets race, but their cl*censored*ed in the Sight hound family, they are excellent hunters (ours love to chase Kangaroo's, lol). They are quite intersting and often decieve you from your first thoughts, like when you look at a whipet you automaticlly think, Man that dog must be a handfull, and very active... they also look fragile, but they are the complete opposite to those two things, they are really lazy and love nothing more then a good old snooze on the couch, hehe, they also are very gentlle dispite their incredible hunting skills.

Btw... i love your little animation siggy, lol, it's funneh

Oh yeah, my aunt found a golden poodle yesterday and bought it. Nice catch ain't it? You don't come by little golden ones often. There was a brown one (which is an even harder to find colour) but y'know, we were really looking for a girl this time (yar, boys pee too much). She's a cute little puff ball and my grandpa pampers her silly (it's kinda creepy, 'cause he's a normally a really strict owner).

It's not that I don't like dogs that are active and require a lot of work, chear. I just don't like dogs that are any bigger than a shih tzu. I actually prefer smaller dogs 'cause of their size and personality.

Ping: awww, that is so cute, sounds like you picked the PERFECT dog for him XD... what's her name? i so wish i could see her, is she like, a real little pup, like 8 weeks or is she a few months old? DETAILS, lol, i always ask heaps of question when it comes to doggies, i loves them so much.

I actually prefer mediam to larger dogs... but that is probibly because they are alll we have ever had, we had 2 mutts when i was little. Josie was a complete mutt, she was almost like a labradoodle, she was funneh, all i can remember was she lick EVERYTHING and she always had a little bit of tougne poking out. She also walked... well, hoped on 3 legs, aparently she had hurt one when she was a pup and she always thought she could never use it again, so she just hoped everywere... wierd. Then ther was Bear, lol, he was a great dane gross bull mastiff/ rottie thing. The most gentle dog, lol, we were living on a sugar cane property and we bred guinea pigs... we had over 150 of them! Funny thing was, he never EVER hurt them. he would help us round them up somtimes just for fun, and the only time he ever hurt one was... this is kinda gross, when they were really ill, he would just swollow them whole! lol, told ya it was gross. Now we have whippets, so they are the smallest we have. Mum wants to get a Cavilliar spaniel, i wouldn't mind one, but i still prefer my whippets XD. So i guess i am a little Bias XD lol

She's nearly 3 months old. Her name is Lettie (named after Sophie's sister in Howl's Moving Castle). She's really poofy and her eyelashes are really long (my grandpa is really tempted to cut them, but no one will let him). She's got a posse, his three other dogs (including one he's taking care for my aunt's friend, he cut her eyelashes off) follows her around like body guards, real popular little girl eh? She get's up on her hind legs whenever someone is going to give her food and looks like a little pom pom when she curls up and sleeps. Someday, we will get her a Sulliman (read Howl's Moving Castle if you don't get it).

I have my little Lilly, a Rat Terrier.  Had a big dog once, Boxer Retreiver mix if I do recall correctly.  She was friendly, but I'm not going down that road again.  I was walking her around the back yard once and she saw a rabbit by the woods.  She bolted after it and almost took my arm with her.  Too much energy for me, I prefer small doggies.

I\'m back.
