Just checking, but has anyone actually watched any of the films that I have suggested?

I'm guessing that most of you have only watched the Ghibli ones plus the few other animations I have suggested. I highly advise that you step out of all this hollywood stuff and watch a few international films (basically I am trying to boycott hollywood because they get so much money even though all of the films are really bad). Have you realised that out of all the films I have suggested, only 2 are American? That's because all the ones that have hollywood stars and such are just really bad because they rely on the actor's name to get money so they know they don't really need to make a good film.

At least watch these ones:
- Departures (I forgot to mention it's for 16+)
- Persepolis
- Mary and Max
- Singing in the Rain

I might watch a few sports films and see if I could make a list of sports films.
More lists to come:
- Animation outside of Disney and Ghibli
- So bad it's good
- Great Music
- Films involving people who get diseases

Out of your movies mentioned on the first page I have seen Mary and Max and Princess Mononoke. I might have seen Persepolis a long time ago, but it is due for a rewatching.
A few from your recommended list are in my Netflix library, waiting to be watched. Also Batman. I love that movie.

Also I agree that psychological thriller > horror.

And since I can't post about movies without adding ones I like:

A Tale of Two Sisters and Let The Right One In (the original of course, not the American version) are pretty good movies. Since there's blood and disturbing images in both I would mark them 18+.

I may watch Let The Right One In. I heard it's quite nice.

I've decided that I will mention the country of origin from now on ;D
I will also add the country of origin in previous lists
MORE LISTS

Animation outside of Ghibli and Disney
Disney and Ghibli are great, but have you ever considered these?

Persepolis (France)
This is one of the best biographical films I have ever seen. I consider it my 2nd favourite film. Just watch it. It's great.

The works of Satoshi Kon (Japan)
He is a genius. I highly respect him as he tends to push the boundaries of animation, stepping out the the cliche and trying to promote less conventional work. It's too bad he died. oAo
WATCH THEM. Everyone needs to watch at least one Satoshi Kon film in their life.
(I am still waiting for his post humorous film to come out by the way)

Waltz with Bashir (Israel) (For people aged 18+)
This is considered the first ever animated documentary. One would think it is rotoscoped but it isn't. The animation style is absolutely beautiful. LIKE CRAZY BEAUTIFUL. I wish I was better at describing so I could tell you how awesome it is. But I'm not very good at describing. I kind of need pictures to show you. It is so pretty. Like, it's awesome. Just watch it (if you're old enough)

Triplets of Belleville (France)
This may not appeal to everybody by the way. It's a bit strange.
Aside from the strangeness. It's stunning. The animation is beautiful, acrobatic and strong. The story is quite simple but it's told in the best way possible with characters that each tell a life's story in their face and the way they move.

- The Hakkenden (Japan)
For those who played Okami (the Capcom game): Remember the dog warriors and Princess Fuse? They originate from an extremely long novel. It is really long. Like mindblowingly long. It's like the Japanese version of Journey to the West but longer. It's THE classic of ancient Japan. And it's really long. So there is an animation (it's a tv series) that summarises what happened in the novel. Watch it and be enlightened. It's also pretty old. So it may not appeal to younger viewers. You also need to watch it a few times to understand what happened fully and appreciate the animation. You will probably dislike it the first time round watching it.

Plague Dogs (UK)
Everyone knows Watership Down. Hardly anyone knows about the author of Watership Down's other book and the director of Watership Down's other film. It's extremely tragic. Possibly one of the most tragic film's I've ever seen. I actually prefer Plague Dogs over Watership Down.

Oh yeah. Here is my 'don't bother watching' list for animations:

5 centimeters per second (Japan)
Sorry. But this film was pointless and dissapointing. Everyone says that this fellow is 'the new Miyazaki'. He is not. No where close. I will never watch a film made by this guy ever again. No. Just no. Don't listen to anything anyone says about this fellow. Including me. Don't let the hype get to you, but don't let what I say get to you. Because a lot of people think he's a genius for some reason. I can't see it. See if you can spot it. I just think he's rubbish.

If anyone's curious about what it's about. It's just a stupid boy meets girl story. He is forced to relocate somewhere (forgot why) he gets with a surfer chick. They break up. Then there's this strange montage and like, a really bad singer in the background. The girl (not the surfer, the 1st girl) and the boy meet again and like. He actually really wanted to see her again and get together but he realizes that's not what both of them actually truly want and they walk away and stuff, like nothing happened. I think he kinda wasted his brainspace on her because he really wanted her and then he didn't and stuff.

That's all for the 'don't watch'. I haven't found many animations that I disliked.

I was able to watch Avatar, The Last Airbender just a few days back and it is quite sad that I was not able to catch it earlier and it really was nice.

Though it is not a movie everyone would like with the presence of fantasy elements in it, but will surely be a good one who like that sort of movie flow.  Unlike Percy Jackson, this actually has a big potential of making a good series.

just so you know, Ping. The original volumes were written on wood hence its length, dear.
I want to watch something of Journey to the West ): I wish someone would make a nice animation of that

Oh Ping, I haven't seen it but it was mentioned along with Plague Dogs, Watership Down and Grave of Fireflies as good animations which tackled dark themes. Have you heard of When The Wind Blows?  It's about a British couple thinking they could survive a nuclear war like they did with WW2? I'm not sure but I'm assuming it's good.

5 centimetres per second is a very good ti
tle though. I think it accurately described HOW SLOW IT WAS
---

Onaun, what have you been doing with all your life before watching Avatar? o__o
I kid, but Avatar was very well done. I'd love more fantasy movies or shows that tackle other cultures. It brings more colour compared to the more generic fantasy settings.
I can't wait for Korra!! I'm so excited for it!

Also, I'm not interested in Percy Jackson but it has a series?
